The Running Room carries brand name clothing, shoes, as well as running accessories. They also hold running clinics throughout the year which is a great way to meet people with similar interests and abilities to your own. The St. Albert location is just off the main road (St. Albert trail) beside a 7-11 in a very dated building. As old as the building looks on the outside it feels older on the inside. It is dark and dingy even in the middle of a sunny afternoon. There is also only one change room so if there are multiple people wanting to try clothes on it can take a while. I find that this location has a smaller selection of items than are offered at other stores. I also think they don't get many sizing in for each product, so lots of times items are only available in really really big or really really small. In general I find the items are on the more expensive side; with every clothing item over $50 your money won't go very far. When I was in on the weekend the staff were very unhelpful - there were two young girls who were chatting at the till area while I wandered around for 20+ min. When I approached them about something they answered with the quickest response and pointed to the corner where the items were that I needed. The major positive about this location is the proximity to the Sturgeon River. This is the perfect location for running as all of the gorgeous trails in St. Albert are linked by the one that runs along the river. This gives the running clinics multiple options for trails, adding variety to their programs.

Plus, we totally lucked out and got help today from Amber (I think???) longtime hockey player who has worked here for years and still picks up the occasional shift. She's baked our skates, fixed stance issues, custom fit super feet, and been all around awesome for us on numerous visits. Protein - prepay for skate sharpenings here to save money and to save time for drop off/pick up! We also get names screened onto jerseys here - whether for soccer or hockey, we've never had a problem with the cresting coming off. Approximately 24 hours later, I called the downtown store, whom after about 25 mins on the phone with various people, told me they had no record of the purchase. Of course, I couldn't go pick up the jacket, the next day, at a location that was inconvenient, because MEC hadn't even processed the Order as of yet. Great. I called the customer service line and spoke to a male who told me "this sale has caught us completely off guard and we're overwhelmed". No kidding?? The male told me that there had been staff cutbacks this year, due to how slow it had been, but suddenly the sale has regenerated sales that have overwhelmed the existing employees Ok ... the spokesperson then told me that my jacket was in Winnipeg and had to be shipped to Edmonton! What is going on here, MEC?? You hold a Black Friday sale and you're overwhelmed??? Then my next day pick up, at this inconvenient location, is in Winnipeg??? The kicker is December 16, 2024, I received an email from MEC telling me that my order has been cancelled. My goodness. Roman was a pleasure to deal with from the moment we said hello. There was no pressure for us to buy and he did not hover around us the whole time. He educated us on the product and left us be to try it out and to talk amongst ourselves. Because of Roman's service , we decided to purchase this machine. I had a little problem with it on Monday when I tried it for the first time and by Tuesday afternoon Roman had his team assemble me a new machine, bring it to my house and took the old one. They also ensured that it was in the exact same spot that I had my other one. Thank you for making this such a great experience. The bike mechanic told me it would be ~ $110; anymore, and he'd give me a call before proceeding. This was on a Tuesday, maybe an hour before they closed. He had warned me that it might take a few days to work on the bike because they had been particularly busy that weekend. Thursday, around 6pm, he gave me a call, saying that the bike needed a lot more work, and, in light of how much said work would cost, asking me if I really wanted to go thru with approx $200 work on the bike rather than buying a new one. I really respected his opinion and honesty; and after talking to me for a while, I decided to go ahead with the $200 in repairs. The bike was ready for pick-up on Saturday. It was exactly the price he said ($200) and apart from not replacing the quick-release with another quick-release, all the work done on it was excellent. Thus far, the bike has never run as well. Would definitely recommend them and will return for future service.
