Sizzling Japanese-Style Assorted Vegetables (cabbage, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, corn)
    Sel Z.

Flaming Kitchen is a fast-serve, more casual and individualized concept of the teppanyaki experience (compared to teppanyaki restaurants where there is a large, communal teppanyaki cooking table and the chef cooks in front of you). There are different locations throughout the GTA, serving the exact same menu and concept. Service is fast and efficient. You order on your phone by scanning the QR code on the table. Food comes out within ~5 minutes - very fast! The menu is quite extensive. They have a wide variety of teppanyaki rice sets available, as well as noodles, mini hot pot (including individual servings), and various drinks and Asian desserts. I love that you can customize each dish by adding the add-ons (additional ingredients). You can even "build your own teppanyaki set" by choosing the carbs, sauce, protein(s), and add-ons (including vegetables). We only tried the teppanyaki rice sets this time around. The Sizzling Japanese-Style Assorted Vegetables consisted of cabbage, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, and corn. This was listed under "snacks" category, and we thought it would be a good veggie dish accompaniment to the other main dishes. I found it to be very salty and saucy. It had an aftertaste that I didn't really like. The pieces of green pepper, zucchini, and mushrooms were very small, that you could barely taste them. It was mostly white cabbage shreds and corn. The 3 teppanyaki rice sets (including one deluxe set) were good. The Jumbo Unagi Teppanyaki Rice was one of my favourites - the unagi there was "jumbo" indeed (biggest and longest I had ever seen that was served with a rice set in a restaurant). I liked that it wasn't doused with too much unagi sauce wich tends to be sweet and sticky. There was a good amount of meat in the unagi as well. Salmon & Shrimps Teppanyaki Rice Set and Seafood Rice Set (salmon, scallops, shrimps) were also decent. The Seafood Rice Set (considered a deluxe menu item) had a bigger and better salmon compared to the thin salmon slices in the Salmon & Shrimps Teppanyaki Rice Set. The shrimps and scallops were pretty good (there were more shrimps than scallops). All dishes came with corn and green onion, and you can choose to add extra add-ons such as cabbage, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, garlic bits, extra protein, etc. As garlic lovers, we added extra garlic bits to every teppanyaki set that we ordered. Overall, good food and fast service. I wish the Sizzling Japanese-Style Assorted Vegetables dish wasn't so salty, and came with more / bigger pieces of the actual vegetables rather than just mostly corn. But the other teppanyaki rice sets were good value.

I got the meat lover teppanyaki and thought it was really good! Highly recommend. I really enjoyed eating at this place with my friends and they liked it as well. They have portable chargers which I thought was cool. I thought everything was priced reasonably. Only thing I would say is that finding parking is a bit difficult and that if you share an appetizer with a group they aren't able to divide it up with the group. Overall I loved the vibes. Would highly recommend!

I went there for their weekend special. We were one of the lucky ones to get a table when they opened at 11:30 am. I was surprised that we had to order the same dish to get the second one for free. We had a beef dish with udon noodles. The noodles were chewy but I felt the sauce was overpowering at the end. The pieces of beef did cook nicely on the sizzling plate, but few pieces, as a decor not much protein. And definitely no veggies. The free fries for the first 100 customers were a joke as it was not crispy fries but "weird" fries. Even looking at before trying it, I was stunned by their lifeless look. I still tried it and didn't eat it anymore. Worse fries that I had in years!!! The washroom was clean. The service was decent. I got a huge pot of hot water. They have daily specials which might be worth it or they also have lunch specials for $18. At least the food came out HOT!

I had an early dinner at Sansotei Ramen, which is by mall entrance 9. It'll get you to Tanghulu. Alternatively, you can cut through Walmart's second floor to get to Tanghulu. I was fortunate to be the only customer at Tanghulu when I arrived. I ordered on the right and picked it up on the left. Tanghulu means that fresh fruit gets coated in melted candied sugar. On my first visit, I got the following fruit: - Mango - Green grape - Strawberry I also got a strawberry banana coco cup. I got the option to get milk chocolate or matcha white chocolate sauce. I went with the latter. I got a box with my tanghulu fruit on sticks. I liked that they had the fruit skewers ready in advance. It was cool watching the female staffer put together my banana strawberry coco cup. I saw her pour the matcha sauce over the fruit, which was oddly zen and satisfying. She asked if I wanted white or coloured sprinkles. I got the latter. The downside to this store is that there isn't any seating. I walked out and headed to a small area with seating in front of Peoples Jewellers. I nabbed the last free table with a lone chair. If you know me well, I love fruit. If I don't have any fruit, I feel as if something is off. I didn't know how I'd feel about the hard sugar glaze over the fruit. As someone who does low to no sugar in my drinks, I didn't know how sugary the tanghulu would be. I started with the mango tanghulu, which wasn't at its full ripeness. Hearing the crunch of the sugar glaze and then munching on it was unique. It was sweet, but it balanced out with the not completely ripe mango. It was fun. I had the grapes next. Each grape was plump and juicy. I started to get a bit tired of crunching on sugar glaze, so I took half of it off. It was perfect for someone like me who doesn't consume that much sugar these days. The strawberry tanghulu was also amazing. I love ripe strawberries. I did half of them with the sugar glaze and took some of it off to not bounce off the mall walls. I enjoyed the matcha coco cup with sliced strawberries and bananas. You can never go wrong with this fresh fruit combination. The natural sweetness of both fruit was perfect. I liked the matcha sauce. It was sweet, but not gross. The matcha balanced out the sweetness. It was excellent. Last Wednesday, I returned. I saw that it had a Dubai coco cup. Sign me up! I got strawberry and banana as my fruit. You can also go with strawberries. This cup comes with milk chocolate sauce. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. This place is super generous with fruit and chocolate sauce. My cup was so full that I had to take a sip of the chocolate sauce before heading over to the seating area by Peoples again. I love the coco cups here. The strawberry and banana slices were delicious with the milk chocolate. I loved the crispy bits in the Dubai pistachio filling. It worked so well with the chocolate and fruit. I thoroughly enjoyed my time consuming my coco cup. The Dubai coco cup is here for a limited time. I wish it were on the menu permanently because it's excellent. I need to return to get another one before it goes away. (134)

We recently reminisced about going to Bao Sandwich Bar for lunch between interviews at the University of Waterloo. I had mentioned to him that it had a second location in Mississauga, roughly a fifteen-minute drive from our workplace. He said that when we were both in the office, he'd only want to go there for lunch with me. It's nice that he trusts my judgment when it comes to eateries. I also believe that he likes my company. A couple of Wednesdays ago, he asked what I was doing for lunch. I normally hit Treats nearby. He wasn't feeling it. I said that we could go here and provided some details, including its online menu and such. I also asked him if he had any meetings. I'm that type of a planner, down to the departure time. He was game. I said that we should leave at 11:15 am. The place opens at 11:30 am. He had a meeting at 1 pm. I wanted a leisurely, unrushed lunch. Done! I drove us over there. With my lead foot, it was more like thirteen minutes, without hitting any highway. Like the Bao place in Waterloo, this one is also located on a lower level of a plaza, with a tall building at the top of this hill. I parked in front of the eatery. We walked in. We were the first customers. It looks like the place kept some of the seating from the previous business that occupied the place. The upholstery looked shabby. Otherwise, the rest of the eatery was spruced up. I got a combo consisting of these items: - Crackle belly bao - Korean garlic chicken bao - Purple flower lemonade - Dynasty duck poutine My manager got the following items: - Dynasty duck bao - Thai yum pork bao - House salad - Thai tea I took a star away because I wasn't expecting my order to be $40! It was okay for the large portion of dynastic duck poutine that I got. It was rather steep. You won't see me eating here every day. I split the poutine with my manager, so it was okay. I paid with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. It didn't take long for our food to be ready. The woman who had taken our orders was nice to bring the food to our table. I have always loved the crackle belly bao. It was equally as delicious here as it was in Waterloo. The pork belly was tasty and perfectly seasoned. The bao was nice and malleable. The veggies provided a nice contrast. I loved it. I tried the Korean garlic chicken bao. It was heavenly. The sauce was spicy and garlicky. The chicken had a crispy exterior and was juicy inside. It's nice having another decent bao to call my favourite. The purple flower lemonade was delicious. I normally don't like sweet lemonade. This version had a touch of sweetness that I enjoyed. This drink's colour was also pretty to look at. My manager enjoyed his food. He oddly doesn't like green vegetables, so I saw him pick out the cilantro and green onions. He felt that the sauces were mixed up. His Thai yum pork bao wasn't spicy. The dynasty duck that he has had in the past was oddly spicy. We had a baseline of the dynasty duck poutine that wasn't spicy to compare. Even with the sauce mix-up, he still enjoyed everything. His side salad had a bit of a spice kick, so he was happy. I loved eating here. It was a nice, casual lunch with yummy food. I wish that it were cheaper. However, the quality was excellent that I'm okay shelling out for it as someone who likely won't be dropping by weekly. (67)

I have been here before and have had the following cream buns: - Apple of my eye - Silky milk tea - Matcha I liked how the buns were packaged in little pentagon shapes. I remember inhaling mine because they were heavenly. The matcha one was delicious. I like a strong matcha taste, which it had. The cream wasn't sweet and the bun was soft. I liked how cold it was. The apple of my eye didn't have a strong apple flavour. There were a few apple bits (more like small particles that you could miss if you shoved the whole thing in your mouth), but it wasn't my favourite out of the bunch. The silky milk tea bun was so good. It was like having milk tea in a bun format, but without any toppings or a ton of sugar. We got a nice woman behind the counter. I recommended that my friend try the silky milk tea bun and matcha. She trusted me and got both. I took a look at the egg sandwich. It looked yummy. My friend got it. It was like she was getting every item that made me drool. There were also some puddings. She got caramel pudding that looked like a yummy custard in a cute little bottle. My friend paid with a debit card. Credit and debit cards are accepted. We headed over to a couple of comfy chairs nearby so I could finish my chimney treat from Eva's. She devoured her milk tea bun. She loved it. She thanked me for the recommendation. Looking back on our day together, I wish that I had bought some more buns from this place. I was too focused eating my ice cream cone. Next time! The dumplings came with a salad that was basically just cabbage, so crunchy, no taste, no dressing, at all, like squeeze some juice/dressing of any kind, so no attention to detail here, at all, the chili chicken was great though, just wish I didn't three orders for a satisfying lunch, literally 3 x $5 was necessary for one person, so, good luck,
