There is no host, when you first walk in you can find your seat or get started on picking out your ingredients. There was a good variety of ingredients, I was surprised that they had crawfish, oyster and octopus. The service was quick and the restaurant was clean. The music was a little too loud for my liking. Would recommend this spot if you're craving for some delicious tomato broth.

I had low expectations because of some of the mixed reviews but was still very excited to try it with my friend. We both got the malatang hot pot soup base and filled up our pot with as much as we wanted! Mine came out to around $15 and I enjoyed the seafood balls, udon, and sweet potato noodles. I found the broth was quite rich and flavourful. Everything was piping hot. I understand because they throw everything in at the same time, it does affect the done-ness of the ingredients (like my broccoli came out SOFT SOFT). Still, I enjoyed the sauce bar and service was fast and nice. The restaurant was also pretty clean.

We came here because another well known spot was full for the night. It definitely filled the hot pot shaped hole we had in our tummies! The price by weight is fair and there's a good selection of foods to choose from. Broth was a bit thin in flavor and had to be seasoned by adding some of the sauce bar items. Friendly staff and clean place!

Tried out top hot pot during a weekday night - wasn't too busy and we were seated immediately. It's your typical DIY hotpot place, where you grab a bowl, pick any ingredients, weight your bowl, and pay by the weight. It was $3.99 per 100g I believe! They had a fair amount of ingredients to choose from - almost the same as the other DIY hotpot spots in Toronto. But I found that they had more soup base options - about 10. We tried out their pork bone and Korean army stew soup bases which were pretty good. They also have drinks to choose from - the yuzu soda was our favourite from the ones we tried. They also offer shaved ice after your meal which was okay. Service was a bit slow, but they are also a new restaurant! Great music and lively atmosphere. 3.5/5

I've tried all the recent DIY hot pot places in downtown so when hearing about this place opening up, definitely wanted to check it out. We came here for dinner on Friday and wait wasn't too long - about 5 mins. Price is very reasonable with 3.99/100g and lots of options to choose from. Very similar to other DIY hot pot places except no ice cream in the end. I got the pork bone broth and it was very flavourful! I did get a sense they were understaffed when it started getting busier but the staff is super nice ane thoughtful with their reccomendations for sauces and broth. They were also quick when water or sauce items needed refilling

This self serve malatang hot pot spot was the worst I have ever had. This restaurant feels like if someone was trying to copy Big Way or Souper but doesn't understand how Malatang places work. Out of all the dry broths i've tried, i've never received a bowl so wet. When I asked the worker if this was the correct order he said that was their dry bowl. he went on to explain that their dry bowls are just the regular bowls with the liquid drained so the water was normal for them. Very catered to western ideology of asian food. Cost more per 100g than other places.

I was surprised that there was no line on a weekday during lunch time ~12:00, especially since other reviewers made mention of long wait times. I guess I was lucky. Anyway, since there was no line, I got my meal quickly. The soups are waiting in pots at the front, so the service is fast as they just need to scoop up your soup of choice. I got a small soup meal, so I was able to choose 2 sides from a collection of breads and fruits/veggies. I decided to go for the Moroccan Madness Vegetable Medley with sides of a multigrain ciabatta bun and apple. The soup was good, definitely fresh, flavourful, and better than your average canned soup, but I wasn't blown away. Plus, the meal was kind of pricey for what I got. For these reasons I only rated them as 3 stars. However, I'm really only basing my review on one out of many different soup options. Maybe some of the other flavours are better. I would go back to try a different soup.

I was so impressed that the owner remembered me (I do have whacky colour hair but still!) I love supporting small businesses but this one deserves all the support. Fuss-less, healthy, delicious food is what you will sign up for time and time again. The food has been consistently great. I know some have complained about the reheating but they clearly have no idea how a small set up like this works. Everything needs to be "pre"pared for 1. Efficiency (lunch hours get busy and customers would complain if it want quick 2. Space. Reheated or not, still tastes like a nice old fashioned home cook meal to me. Today I got the shrimp curry, mutton curry, mutton roll and although they ran out of fish curry, the owner wasted no time in offered to throw one together for me quickly. My BF ate the mutton one which comes with lentil and veggies and he was blown away by the flavors. It's this human touch, the conversation and the love they put into the food that I come back for. I'm so touched she remembered me. I'm stuffed and incredibly happy I caught them on my way downtown today!

I walked into the store and it's pretty decent size, bright with a lot of large windows. There is seating at the side and windows. I regret not grabbing any pictures of this but I was taking my order to go. After scanning the menu pretty quickly, I saw I could grab a soup from here. I placed an order for a soup and decided to get some falafel as well. You have a choice of a few dipping sauces and I went with the harissa one. They told me it'd be a couple of minutes before it'd be ready. I stood by the windows to see what was happening on Yonge St but it was a pretty quiet night. They gave me a call out and I was off with my soup and falafel in no time. After getting back to my place, I popped the lids for my orders. The soup smelled great and the falafel looked alright. I started with the soup. It was nice and packed with a lot of flavour. It was also pretty light and what I was looking for. I took a bite of the falafel. I'm unsure how to feel about it as it felt really when chewing through it. I dipped it into the sauce and it still felt a little dry. I finished this during the hockey game and I'm glad it was close. Would grab the soup again and try other things on the menu but would skip the falafel as it wasn't my favourite thing even though the dipping sauce was nice.
