We tried Flamingo Beach some months ago despite some tepid reviews, and our subsequent review was, itself, tepid.... But, months have passed and we noticed the reviews getting better and better, so we risked it again. We really want this place to be great because it's one of the closest places to our rural home! We visited on Sunday evening with cautious optimism. We were greeted and seated immediately (Sundays aren't the busiest) and Kirsten, our server was pleasant and tolerant of our request to be seated further from a heavily perfumed patron. The place also has strong, plug-in type perfumers which I removed from our immediate area...too much scent!! After perusing what was really a large menu selection, we chose the pictured items: 2/$20 apps (called 'Snacks' on the menu) both larger portions than we expected, and we each had a smash burger with slaw. To be honest, we had zero complaints with the food, portion size, presentation, and service. All were fully up to snuff! And the selection of homemade desserts was just the cherry on top! We split a decadent slice of Reese's cheesecake, and although it was a little sweeter than we'd have liked, it only lasted 3-4 minutes! Hahaha!!! Once we sorted out the tangle of artificial scents, we were really happy with the experience. We'll be back, and hopefully the place will smell like fresh cooked food instead of coconut shampoo! My personal advice to you: Try out Flamingo Beach. You'll find something you like, and you might even make the place a regular stop! read more

Thought we would give it try... seemed like a nice place good vibe and ambiance, greeted and seated by friendly staff, took our drink order right away and then we reviewed the menu, lots of options that sounded good, but were a bit pricey. We were able to make a choice and then we sat and waited... The place was NOT busy at all. It was around 4:40 pm and we could see our server sitting with two other staff members talking and rolling up silverware.... After about 10 minutes, just as we are standing up to leave, she gets up and asks us if we want to order... We declined. Gave her $3 to cover the ice tea and asked for a to go cup. We were very excited to try this place out since it re-opened. We love the option for eating inside or the outdoor screened in porch. And the beach vibes are on point! We ordered caprese skewers, chicken chunks, chicken bruschetta, Hawaiian flatbread, and the snakebite pasta. The downsides: we waited 25 minutes before a server came to our table for a drink order. Some of the apps arrived before any drinks (even water). Those of us getting cocktails got our drinks before my husband got his beer. It took another 15 minutes for him to get it. After that drinks came out a bit quicker. We were at the table for 2 hours before we got our food. I will say- they had a note posted that food would be at least 45 minutes. The caprese skewers were not good. There was no basil and the cheese tasted off. On to the good stuff: we had good company and were not in any hurry, so we really didn't mind waiting. And the wait staff were very friendly and apologetic. The chicken chunks (with Asian Ginger sauce) were good- just the right amount of bite. The Snakebite pasta was nice and creamy and flavorful. The bruschetta chicken was light and fresh. We really liked the flatbread too- the BBQ sauce was on point. I know they are still new and probably working out kinks, so I understand there will be hiccups. If you aren't in a hurry or super hungry I highly recommend trying this place out. If you don't have time or patience, maybe wait a bit till things are running more smoothly. read more

Ate here on a Friday Night between Xmas and New Years. It wasn't busy at all. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated. Our waiter grabbed our drink order and it came out quickly. We ordered our food and received the side salad in a timely fashion. The food arrived shortly after. The creole Mac n cheese was a good portion and pretty tasty. It did have a smoky flavor. The lobster lasagna roll was decent. The shell was tough but flavor was there. The rolls were delicious! Overall the staff doesn't seemed seasoned but they were all friendly and they all seemed like they cared. They were all involved with cleaning and delivery of food. The place has plenty of seating and a bar as well. It's well lit and decorated nicely. I would return for sure and try some of their other dishes. read more

My kids took me here for my birthday dinner. I got the po boy. The fish was well seasoned but only got 3 small strips of it so lots of empty space on the bun. Very little slaw on it. My daughter got a burger and she said it was good. My son got the creole pasta. He said it was very tasty but wished it had some sort of finishing sauce on top. Service was good. When went on a Saturday night with a large group. First, Stephanie, our server, shined being helpful and attentive but the food and atmosphere left much to be desired. The food was either over cooked or lacking actual fish. Poor service from the owner contributed to our negative experience. It's unfortunate that it felt like the restaurant catered more toward their drunken regulars rather than newcomers, especially with the owners unwelcoming attitude. What made it worse, the servers seem embarrassed of their boss. It's always a pity when the overall vibe doesn't match the possible potential a place could have. Dinner | $30-50 per person It has potential to be a fun place with the screened in patio and it appeared they added outdoor seating. Will try it again in a few weeks. We waited over an hour for our food. Most tables had very slow food service from the kitchen. The blackened walleye was seasoned well for flavor but very overcooked. Sweet potatoe tots were good. Burger had good seasoning flavor but again very overcooked. They were out of some menu items. Our server lacked training and went long periods between table followup. I am rooting for them. My wife and I went there for the first time time on Friday. I had a BLT which has smoked bacon and it was the best BLT that I have ever eaten. The bread and the veggies and bacon was amazingly delicious. My wife had a burger and it was also delicious. We were very impressed with how quickly we got our food and how good it was. Service was awesome, garlic bread with dinner was rock hard, my side of asparagus didn't make it, I got grilled corn, lobster rolls , didn't taste like real lobster, grilled chicken was good red skins over cooked. The service was friendly, but for the amount of workers present it was very slow. The atmosphere is crazy loud inside the restaurant, they should consider removing the barrier windows inside to spread out the noise, it's bad. My son ordered a kids cheeseburger, he got a burger with a bun and it was sent back for cheese, so they placed a cold slice of cheese on it, his meal also arrived 20 min before everyone else's because the waiter accidentally sent it in as a separate meal, so he awkwardly had to sit and watch us eat. The shrimp macaroni was good, but maybe had three pieces of shrimp the size of a pencil eraser in it and when we requested the bread (comes with the pasta and a side salad) the waiter had to go see if they "had any left for the day" - it was 5pm. It also isn't a good look when you walk in and are greeted by a sign that shows what they are out of for the day. read more

This was my second visit to this place. The first being within the first week of opening. I ordered the Walleye, was dry and not even sure it was walleye. Met a group of friends yesterday and thought I'd give it another try. Ordered the ultimate grilled cheese. It has 3 cheeses and smoked brisket in the sandwich. The outside of the bread had been grilled, but with no butter so it was extremely dry. The inside had maybe one bite of brisket. I ended up tearing the sandwich apart and ate some of the inside. The fries were good and the beer cold, but I definitely won't be going back to eat. Disappointing for sure. read more

We went for lunch today, and we had a mixed experience. We're not going to jump on the bandwagon with others throwing rocks at a place that has been open less than 2 weeks - the owner is very driven to make things right, and I'm confident that will happen in time. The restaurant has been refreshed from the old "Coconuts" that was once here, and has a good ambience. We came away very impressed with the overall experience, and will return. Also, knowing that the owners will want feedback, we will explain what we experienced: We were seated quickly, and waited on very quickly and efficiently as well. Drinks and an appetizer showed up within a few minutes. The caprese appetizer was good, but needed something else to go along with the pita. We ordered two flatbreads: the Hawaiian (which was awesome - would definitely order again), and the garlic cheese (which was ok). The Po Boy walleye was breaded and cooked perfectly, but they seemed to try to do too much with the rest of the sandwich - maybe just add lettuce, tomato, mayo and call it "good". The coconut shrimp was delicious, but they used jumbo shrimp, which was maybe a bit too large for the dish (and we love jumbo shrimp, just not breaded like this). Dialing back the shrimp in size in exchange for adding a few more to the plate would be helpful. A second waiter helped with bringing other items to the table and clearing plates at the end, which was nice. They use Toast on mobile POS terminals, so it's easy to pay with a card or tap with Apple Pay - very helpful. Again, we WILL be back, and I'm confident that they'll have made more improvements by then! read more

I have been to Flamingo Beach twice. I am trying to give it a chance but the amount of wait for poor food is not what I am looking for. Granted, it isn't Coconuts and I am not trying to compare it. Not a lot of fish; Walleye was way over cooked, cold fries. Waited almost 2 hours the first time. I know that this place is brand new. And there are things which I can forgive. However, having to wait an hour for our food and over 30 minutes for a soft drink refill are 2 things that I can not forgive. While the rest of my party were ok with their food, Chicken Sandwiches, my burger was overcooked and dry. Having already waited for an hour for this burger, I ate it rather than waiting another hour for a replacement. Our server was nice enough, but it was clear he had not been properly trained. I was in the restaurant industry for almost 14 years, and I have opened a restaurant before, so I can understand opening hiccups. Only good thing about experience was being seated right away, that's where the good ended. We had 4 adults and 2 kids. We got our soft drinks fairly quickly, however, the 2 margaritas took more than a half hour. We ordered food, 2 BBQ burgers, one with fries one with onion rings. A chicken sandwich and a Caesar salad with chicken. The kids had a cheeseburger and a mac n cheese. We waited almost an hour and a half for our food, UNACCEPTABLE. If had been just me and my wife we would have walked out well before that. Now the food.... Not good. Everything was overcooked. Burgers had very little sauce and they were dry, asked for medium. Fries were cold and onion rings were dry and overdone. Chicken sandwich was the same, dry and overcooked. The mac n cheese had dried out on top signaling it had sat in window( I'm sure like all our food) for a long time. Horrible experience. I will never return. If you are considering this restaurant, I would pass unless you want to waste a whole evening on very sub par food. read more
