City limits used to be great, but something majorly changed in the management of the place in the past few months, and not for the better. All of the service staff has changed, and their waitresses are no longer friendly or inviting. Our recent visit (in a long time) resulted us having a waitress who was just completely clueless. She asked for our drink orders upon sitting, she came back with one persons drink, and the others were sitting there for at least 15 minutes without their drink. When she finally came back, she forgot the order (that she wrote down) and had to retrieve the remaining drinks. She then took our order, but was just really rude. When asking about a menu item she laughed in our faces and talked down to us about it (we wanted to make sure that the eggs were actually poached for the eggs Benedict). About 10-20 minutes later, she walked back to the table, clearly flustered, and asked "okay, what do you guys want to order?" To which we replied that she had already taken our order. She looked blankly at our table, and said "who, me? Or someone else?" It was genuinely concerning. At this point, we've been at the diner for about 30 minutes, finally have drinks, but no food. When she finally returns with a tray full of food, the order is correct, but, lo and behold, the eggs on BOTH Benedict's are essentially hard boiled, and to top it off, there were bits of egg shells throughout the dishes. Overall, our experience was so much less than desirable, and I can honestly say that we will not be returning. Bring back the old City Limits diner, get rid of the really bad waitstaff, and improve the kitchen practices. read more

Visited on a Saturday morning about 10:00am. Place was about half full, but no one was bussing tables so all the tables were either occupied or still had dirty dishes on them. We were first in line and waited about 10-15 minutes to be seated. While we waited, a bout ten people stacked up behind us. When a waitress finally came over and asked who was next, I waved my hand to signal her...I was still holding my car keys...and she angrily yelled at me to not wave my keys at her! OK, you asked who was was next, and I waved my hand, and you took offense the the sound the keys made. OK, off to a great start... I ordered corned beef hash. It took about 20 minutes to come out, and was pretty burned. At that point, I just wanted out of there, ate about half, paid the (different) waitress with a generous tip because it wasn't her fault, and left. I had eaten here once before about a year ago and it was great...friendly, fast, and good food. This time was the opposite on all fronts. In the parking lot on the way out, one of the people behind us in line asked if we'd be back. I just said "nope". He replied "me neither". read more

This place is a hidden gem in downtown Tecumseh, tucked away behind the main strip. I'm glad we finally came in to check it out! The service is phenomenal, staff is is super nice and the food is fast and fresh. We've never had a really long wait, even at peak times. City Limits Diner and Pancake House is the quintessential small town diner serving up hearty breakfast and lunch. It's no frills family style dining at its best. Tasty carb-laden large portions abound so wear your stretch pants and come hungry. They have any type of omelette you can imagine. I usually stick with the Greek omelette and have yet to be disappointed. As the title suggests, pancakes reign supreme here. They are light and fluffy and come with the omelette breakfast so it's a win-win in my book. The service is fast but friendly and your coffee cup never gets low before someone is around to refill it. I've also tried their biscuits and gravy (very good), and the Greek salad (it's huge!). With daily specials starting at $3.99 you won't be out a ton of money either. If you're expecting a trendy brunch restaurant with mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar this isn't your place. This is rib sticking, comfort food that will leave you and your wallet happy. read more

Husband took us here for breakfast on Sunday morning; having fond memories of it being a great breakfast spot. The place was busy but we were seated quickly. Great menu selection, with excellent prices. First round of drinks came quickly after sitting, but that was it. Unfortunately, if the gal with the coffee or water isn't your server, she won't refill you unless you can tap her on the arm or get her attention in a way that she cannot ignore you. We watched this little game - the server in the next section was pissed that our server wasn't tending to our side and pointedly refusing to refill those on our side. We weren't the only table trying to get refills. We saw our server three times. For order, delivery of food and the bill. She wasn't the one who first brought our drinks even. Whatever is going on with the staff - management better address it. Don't mind the servers - go for the food! You NEVER get fresh fruit in crepes or a side of fruit as an option instead of potatoes, anywhere else. The bacon is crispy, the poached eggs are PERFECT and it's cheap. Crepes, waffles, combos and lunch menu. Crap, I want to go back right now. What a GEM in Tecumseh. The waitstaff and the newspaper stand outside were the biggest disappointments. I paid $2 for a Sunday paper that boasted $215 in coupons and someone had pilfered all of the coupon packs from all remaining papers. Jerks! At least breakfast was affordable. read more

This is a terrific little diner and serves its purpose perfectly, particularly with the dearth of breakfast choices in town. I took my wife here for a morning meal on our most recent visit. This was my second time to visit and I recall the first time being as good of an experience as this. Located behind the main downtown commercial area in Tecumseh, there was plenty of parking available in the adjacent city lot. We went in on a Wednesday just after 9 AM and they were surprisingly busy for mid-morning on a weekday. But we were greeted and seated immediately. They had a simple but nicely-kept facility that was a bit larger than what it might seem from the outside. Our server attended to us right away and did an outstanding job. My wife chose the special, which was a great deal for $4. It included eggs, bacon and potatoes along with pancakes. She had enough left over for another meal. I had the spinach and feta omelet which came with either fruit or potatoes. I chose the former and the fruit mix was actually very good (bananas, cantaloupe, pineapples and orange slices). They had great bread choices and I opted for sourdough toast. It was very satisfying, and well priced at less than $6.50. With coffee and tea to drink, our total cash outlay with food, tax and tip was about $17. I thought this was quite reasonable and a good value. A very solid breakfast place. It has great coffee and the service was pretty good. My Greek omelette and wheat toast were quite tasty. I loved how they made my home fries extra crispy. I usually have breakfast foods and they always deliver. I like the option of fresh fruit instead of potatoes and I usually get egg beaters. Not sure how they do it, but I can never make egg beaters as well as they do. Free wifi is always a bonus. Wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Portions are not too large. I ordered a couple of meals for takeout. One was a Greek salad. The other was the coney platter. I also ordered Greek dressing for the salads and catsup for the fries. When I got home and opened the food there was no catsup, and more importantly no dressing for the salads. What good is a salad with no dressing? I immediately called and asked that the dressing be at the counter so I could run in and grab it. Nope. I eventually got the dressing, I had given up on the catsup. By the time I got back with the dressing, the coney and fries were cold. But the salads were excellent. Moral of the story is to check your takeout bag before leaving. At least the employee was nice and apologized, and everyone makes mistakes now and then. read more

Food quality has gone down in recent months, prices are high, and the excellent personalized service is no longer in place. We ate there recently. The chicken gyros was mediocre, the enchilada special was cold, and we were shocked to have to pay at the register before we sat down. The server was friendly, but overwhelmed as she was the only floor staff after 2:00 PM. This is a local's place! Everyone says hi with the nod of the head or a small flick of the hand. They know if you are a local or not. My husband and I come to the diner with my parents when we are in town. When you enter, the wait staff greets you with a polite hello. The menu has lots of options for breakfast as well as lunch. The food is ok. It's on the greasy side of things for our tastes. The oatmeal has potential, but was definitely over cooked. The waitresses are attentive. Your coffee cup will never go empty unless you want it to. The tables are clean and ready to go. When you're ready, you take the bill to the register to pay. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. It's a good place to go, but not a great place. read more

Long time fan of this great diner. Located downtown Tecumseh near all the hot spots. Great food, great service. Even after new ownership took over, nothing has changed. Maybe even better!
