Our last feeding spot in Seward, Alaska, was Gold Rush Bistro. We discovered this thing called the seafood chower in Seward and we were told Gold Rush Bistro was where we needed to go. Since we already checked in on the cruise ship and ate our hearts out during lunch buffet, we went back out just for the seafood chowder. While browsing the menu, the wait staff also recommended their berry pie baked in house, filled with strawberry, raspberries, apples, and rhubarb. Ms. Fatty would never say no to dessert so we also got that. Sure enough, the New England style seafood chowder was really the best seafood chowder we've ever tasted. The pie though... we did not really love it. We felt the flavors were lacking. Overall experience was really good. The service was good and the restaurant had a cozy feeling. The menu had more than just seafood chowder, but definitely get it even if you didn't go in for that.

Pretty small portions for what you pay for. The tacos were good, but i wish they gave you more than a small cup of the mango salsa. I also wish they would serve the tacos with tortillas that dont fall apart, i ended up eating the whole thing using the chips, which wasnt bad at all! The small portion sizes did let us have room for chocolate cake dessert, which was SUPER dense but pretty good! The sodas were fantastic. Try the mango one.

LOVED this place. It was fantastic. Had authentic, fresh Alaskan food. Halibut 3 different ways. I had halibut tacos and they were fantastic. My boyfriend had the halibut fish sandwich and it was also great. The sweet potatoes fries and garlic fries are both really good.

Wait time was over an hour but the food was amazing! Loved the garlic fries and halibut! I'd just eat the garlic fries! They were delicious!

Do they take reservations and how far is this restaurant from the railroad stop station?

Today I remembered to do all the things including take pictures of my food. I walked in and was seated immediately, I chose to sit at the bar because it's just easier and the chairs all have better cushion. After seeing another patron eating a burger i decided to order one too! Great choice. I had the jalapeño burger with bacon jam and man was it delicious. The burger was a perfect medium well, the brioche bun was perfectly toasted, the white cheddar cheese was the perfect complement to the slightly sweet bacon jam, the bacon was crispy, Smokey and not greasy. The only complaint was the slice of tomato that is out of season and tasteless. I mean it is Alaska after all. My seafood chowder which I paid an additional $4.00 for a cup was okay but whatever, the burger made up for it. All in all it was a great experience and delicious meal. Because it was the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, the place wasn't as packed and noisy as it can be sometimes. The ambiance was super relaxed today so I sat and ate inside. If you are ever in Seward, check this place out.

I absolutely loved the gluten-free coating on the halibut since I'm not a fan of tempura-style batter. The Tanner crab was amazing, and the fried pickles were also great, though the portion was huge (definitely too much for one person). Service was excellent both nights. The bartenders were really friendly, and the food came out quickly and smoothly. The interior is also super cute, kind of an old-school lounge vibe with lots of velvet. There's a neon sign that says "city where the fun shines," which adds to the fun atmosphere. Such a great dinner spot in Seward.

First, the place looks like1985 retired inside in a good way. The bar in lined in plush red fabric and the photos, decor and chairs all are retro to the max but what did the food taste like? So I ordered the smash burger and roasted mini Yukon gold potatoes with creme and bacon. The burger was kinda charred I guess but still good, the server never asked how I wanted it cooked so that was a HUGE minus, but it wasn't bad just not great, the flavor was good, the veggies were fresh, just not great! The potatoes were the star of the show! They were perfectly seasoned and the creme and bacon sauce was MONEY!! They literally melt in your mouth and were roasted perfectly without being mushy. The service was good, the vibe was super chill. The place is kinda pricey for what you get but that is everything in this little town. I will be back to try some other things eventually.
