We went to eat here yesterday, June 1st, from around 6pm to 6:50pm. Receipt attached for time and date. We sat as a group of seven people with the plan to have one check with three people and then four individual checks. This is a bullet pointed list of the issues we had. * We had some miscommunication on the splitting of the checks, which is okay, but I believe she should have double checked, especially because we repeatedly made it clear that the rest of us were singles. This became an issue because she told us at the end that they can only split the check two ways. * All of the food was okay, except my friend's (K) burger being pink inside and the chowder leaving a bad taste in my other friend's (B) mouth afterward. * K ordered a plain burger with cheese and received a burger with everything on it, including mayo which she cannot stand. She mentioned this to our waitress who then said "can you just take the lettuce and stuff off?" We said no and got a new burger, because that was not what K ordered. * My Greek salad was also an issue. I have a nut allergy so I checked with her about the ingredients of the Greek Vinaigrette that they bring with it. She said it had an onion base but didn't know the rest so she asked the kitchen, who she says wouldn't give her an answer on ingredients. * She offered me ranch but I told her I don't like ranch so I'll just go without any dressing, I didn't mind that much. She then offered ranch yet again, which was weird, and also a no from me. * She ended up getting me some olive oil and vinegar, which was perfect. The olive oil did not taste like olive oil though so I double checked that and she said it was, it just tasted more like vegetable oil to me and B. * I overheard her talking to a table behind me (what looked to be a child and their grandma) about them not being able to find the bathroom. She said, "oh you couldn't find it? It's like right there. On your left." She was very rude about it which was surprising to me. I felt that the attitude was unwarranted. * We had the discussion about splitting checks and then waited a while to pay. We also noticed that the checks were split incorrectly even though she had probably quadruple checked who the 3 person group was herself. * It took a while so we just went to the front desk area, where after waiting for a long time we were directed to another desk area. The lady that was standing there, she was blonde and a bit older than our waitress (presumably the manager) then left and made herself busy despite staying there the whole time before,so we had to wait even longer. * J, who had the og 3 person group, went to pay with tap, which our waitress was aware of beforehand. She then informs us that tap doesn't work for checks over $100, and his was $184. B paid her check with her Cashapp card and tried to pay J's too because he couldn't. It took the money out of her Cashapp account but didn't go through. We went back to the first desk, and tried again. K was even getting ready to transfer money in case B's didn't work either. Then, she tells us that apparently she can split the payment into two that are under $100... which would have been wonderful to know before we were running around trying to figure out how to pay our bill. Also, would have been a convenient way to keep it as two checks but still split up payments between the singles. * I also overheard our waitress speaking rudely to her coworker (a girl with black hair and a ponytail who was working hostess) who had asked her a question. She said, "Just press it, it's the same," in, again, a rude tone. * B overheard the manager (? The blonde lady) being rude to our waitress. We would have been more understanding if it was an end of shift slump, but when we sat and asked if the chowder was available she said she had to check because she had just gotten there. We were all very disappointed with this service, especially considering the prices, and will not be going back. read more

The food was good. I really liked my tundra pizza. The pizza dough was sourdough which was really soft and yet crispy. Service was great. The decor is a little dated, it feels like 1990's but being this is a remote area I can look past that, plus the pizza was good. read more

PIZZA, Phenomenal. The wine had been opened too long and was listed a dollar cheaper on the menu than on the bill. Typos in the menu spelling as well. Service was underwhelming. It felt like being the customer was inconvenient to the servers. God forbid you ask to split the cost of the pizza but pay for your other individually ordered items. I worked in the industry for ions, so I understand how things go, but also because of my knowledge and skill set I expect a better dining experience overall. Specials on the board were either from the night before or for later in the day, so the misrepresentation was disappointing. Management desperately needs to work on the functionality of the restaurant as a whole. And bring back the Greek wine, would ya?! Food is the only high marks I can give...so next time, I'll just take mine to go and try for as little employee interaction as possible. read more

Restaurant was rather empty when we walked in. If you aren't up for a long wait in the area, this place is a good alternative to the standard tourist fare. The calzones were huge and meaty, the Greek salad dressing was amazing and the Greek chicken dish with Greek pasta was amazing. read more

The Apollo restaurant in Seward is highly rated in Yelp, but we found the same issues that others have complained of; lack of service. The decor is 1970's Greek. Clean but dated. We were seated quickly and given water and menus and then we waited. After close to 20 minutes, we flagged down the waitress at the table next to us (who served people food that came in after us!) and we were told that she wasn't assigned our table. Our waiter rushed in then, said he was sorry and took our orders. At this point, we ordered drinks and food to minimize the wait. The waiter returned about 15 minutes later saying he forgot our drinks but would bring them. He brought the drinks and the food at the same time. My sweet and sour salmon was just okay- the sauce had chunks of tomatoes and was more of a salsa and the salmon was placed on top of the rice which was on top of the vegetables. My spouse had spaghetti and ordered breadsticks. The spaghetti was very good. I will say that the sticks were delicious as others have noted. I would try their pizza/breadsticks as a carry out but I don't think I will return for in house eating. read more

Wine selection could have been better with not so bright lighting ... but hey, we came for the food and it's Seward AK, right? We decided to come here for dinner close to 8 pm on a Friday and it was completely empty, except for the staff. I ordered the fried mozzarella to start out with, which came within 5 minutes. I was confused as to why it was served on top of a bed of shredded lettuce? I've never seen that before and found it quite odd. The mozzarella sticks tasted like it was frozen from a box in my experience. There was nothing special to it. The pizza came out pretty quickly too and it was super floppy. Every time you try to pick it up the toppings and cheese would fall off. It was quite irritating, but it tasty good nonetheless. The kitchen closed at 8:15 so we had to order quickly. Not sure if this is an everyday thing or just certain days of the week. It was an overall cute place with plenty of seating inside located in downtown Seward near the harbor. Arrived at 6:30 rush time so waiting was expected. Hostess almost sat us a table for 4 there was 5 Water guy brought water before we sat down. Then we waited and waited. Waiter took drink and food orders 30 minutes after we arrived, ordered 2 pizzas and they brought drinks. Took 30 more minutes to get one pizza. They didn't know where the other one was. After our kids had finished their they came out and said the kitchen had screwed up and were just putting ours in the oven. At a little over 2 hours we got our pizza and took it home. The food was good and that's what gets Apollo 3 stars. We had a basic cheese pizza and a salmon spaghetti special of the day and both were good. Portions were decent but overall the food is pricey as was our experience in seward at other places too. Now with so much abundance of salmon in Alaska, I'd expect it to be cheaper. But I wonder whether the brown bears get them all, raising the cost for humans. We were not so impressed with the service. The gentleman who seated us didn't seem like he was happy to see us. The server was nice and friendly but the service was just super slow. It took really long to be seated, for someone to even come take our order and then for the food to come out. A cute little spot serving up Italian and Greek eats in Seward. They're open later than most places, but are also a tad understaffed -- the wait for getting a table and also the food to arrive was pretty long. That being said, our server was so nice and checked in to see if everything was good! The food here is solid, comfort food -- I wouldn't say anything knocked it out of the park flavor-wise but the ravioli had lots of cheesy goodness and the pizza was pretty tasty too. We arrived in town late and wanted to eat dinner as we had a long drive from Denali. Apollo was open for another 20ms but they welcomed us inside. The food was good! We really enjoyed the Apollo Restaurant. I was there as part of the Kendall Auto Group annual fishing trip. What great service and food! Really, really nice folks. I had the Seafood Livorneze. Wow was it good! Couldn't finish it. It was like I had two entrees. And the appetizers were incredible. We had clams, mussels and calamari. But OMG try the saganaki (it's a shrimp dish). Do yourself a favor. Order the saganaki. If you don't you will kick yourself in the morning. I hope I get the chance to come back here. read more

This wasn't my first dining choice for Seward, but the place I wanted to go was not open. We ended up here and dinner was good. I had the seafood pasta and my friend had the lasagna, both were very filling and tasty. The breadsticks were SUPER yummm! I jokingly told him I wonder if they are frozen because my taste really does range, sometimes I'll really like something that isn't even homemade and other times I can despise it. Either way, get the breadsticks - they come with most of the entrees I believe. I also had a nice glass of red wine. Stick with the pizza! Ordered ceviche, paella and stuffed halibut in fillo pastry. Fillo dough was raw! Ceviche and paella was made with frozen seafood mix from Asian grocery store...not what you would expect in a seafood town looking at the ocean! Nothing was fresh local food! Service was very poor! During summer time, all the restaurants were packed and has a long wait so we decided to come here as we were able to be seated in 10 minutes. They were severely understaffed and you can tell how stressed out the waitresses were. We ordered salad and it was never served. We got the halibut fish and chips and thick pizza. The fish and chips were good; wish the fish or batter had a bit more seasoning. The thick pizza was overwhelming with the amount of dough; definitely way more than it should be. Friendly waitstaff is the only plus, every person working here is a delight. If not for the food, pricing, and portions, we would have gone back. That being said... Spent $16 for 4 piping hot dolmas. Traditionally, dolmas without meat are served chilled or room temp and dolmas with meat are served warm. I get it, small town with an even smaller Greek population but they just weren't great. Not to mention the PIECE OF HAIR I found in my dolma. Waitstaff was prompt in taking it away and getting a new platter of 4 dolmas and I was only charged for one order. Being a tourist town, I understand the markups for certain items but $120 for a single pound of Alaskan King Crab?! I doubt market price is THAT steep in other spots. Being the tourist off-season, lots of other seafood places were already closed. Either way, if $120 is what Apollo is charging, they need to up their game a substantial amount when it comes to their King Crab platter. The veggies were so soggy and swimming in oil. The pasta served with it tasted like Spaghetti-Os. The King Crab itself was tough and chewy, clearly overcooked. One nice thing is they cut the legs for you longways so cracking was minimal. Overall, I would not dine here again. Decor is outdated, music choice was all over the place, and food was very hard to eat. I left hungry and disappointed. read more

Seward is a sleepy town that closes early and is even slower in the winter. What do you expect from a town of 2900 people? older establishments, stuck in a time warp for decor. That's Alaska. But then you stumble into Apollo which doesn't look like much from the outside. Friendly server, Valerie I think washer name. My friend ordered a calzone and it was by far the biggest calzone I have ever seen in my life. I ordered the cheese ravioli with marinara sauce. Our other friend ordered chicken Caesar salad and soup which looked delicious. My ravioli was so fantastic. I haven't found much good Italian food in Anchorage. So the next time I crave Italian food I might just have to drive down to Apollo! Highly recommend read more

For a Greek Restaurant the Pizza was DELICIOUS!! We were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a Large Pepperoni pizza the crust was crisp and not floppy, the sauce and the cheese was very tasty. The staff was extremely pleasant and on the ball, they all worked together as a team filling waters, clearing and cleaning tables. I would give them a 10/10 for our experience tonight. read more

Enjoyable experience at one of the only restaurants near the coastline that is still open late into the summer season (it's early/mid sept and many are closed already due to end of tourist season). Had to wait a bit to be seated and service was slow/had a couple hiccups, but this is mainly due to being extremely understaffed - a problem which the restaurant openly notes. Really enjoyed the food! Star of the shows were the various sauces used, really brought out the flavors for the fish and vegetables served. House salad with chicken - 4/5. Nothing remarkable, just your avg salad. Chicken was quite tasty. Salmon with pasta - 4.5/5. Salmon was cooked well, and enjoyed the vegetables cooked with it - note this was the catch of the day so might not be available Halibut - 4.5/5. We were a party of 5 everyone enjoyed their food. One had a BBQ burger slathered with bacon and sauce, calamari with aoli sauce for dipping. Two had the lamb gyros and I had the meatball sub. I rated A 3 but everyone else rated a 4. Our waitress, Valerie, was exceptional. We also had clam chowder which was tasty and the soup special of roasted creamy bell pepper. Well this was one of two places open on a Friday night. It's been years since I've been here and there is a reason. Starting with the ambiance...it's dated and run down, could use a major facelift. The service...they were kind and quick which we appreciated so much. Our waitress was as sweet as could be. The food...meh. I got a cup of potato soup and it was different. Mostly emulsified, so no good chunks, just baby food style. Flavor was ok. The breadsticks were disgusting and saturated with grease. The Pizza was acceptable, could have had a little more meat but that's just nit picking. Overall, I would not eat here again unless I was desperate and there was nothing else. The prices are sky high and while this is a tourist town in the summer, it is winter and only locals go here. It's just not reasonable when the food isn't even that good. Bummer read more

No choice but to give this place 5 stars because the service was great, food was great, and prices weren't insane considering the location and fresh food. We stopped in for a late dinner and had the seafood pasta and pepperoni pizza. The pasta was clams, mussels, prawns, scallops and halibut in a spicy red sauce served over linguine. The chef made this non spicy so I could share with my little one. It was REALLY good. The pizza was loaded with mozzarella cheese, yummy. There's a sign at the front that warns that they are understaffed and it'll be slow - heed this warning! Had the halibut Monte Mio. Halibut was cooked just right, with a light herby sauce the complimented the fish nicely. Came with pasta and veggies. Pasta was... weird. Can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't taste right. Veggies were dull and overcooked. Wife had a house salad. The Greek vinaigrette was different in a good way. Service was all over the place. There were two servers - one was more interested in yakking it up, while the other was working hard, but seemed disorganized. I witnessed tables that sat unattended for 20-30 minutes, while another that was just seated had their orders taken first. We probably waited 30 minutes to order, food came out after another 20, and it took another 20 minutes to get out check and pay. Didn't ding them a star for this since they did warn us, but it's still worth mentioning. Overall, main course was good, sides were average, and service was severely lacking. read more

Awful. The place looks like Gordon Ramsay should show up and curse. It smells of old stale restaurant. I ate smoked salmon Mac n cheese, and the flavors didn't blend at all. Seriously felt nauseated for hours afterwards. My companion ate the halibut and said it was dry and all she could taste was rosemary...and she was also on the verge of it coming back. These two plates, two beers and a cup of chowder were the biggest waste of $100, and hands down the worse food experience I have had in Alaska. We came here after a fishing charter and our captain suggested taking our fresh catch with us. How neat! We arrive and are promptly seated. We get our rockfish fried and our halibut grilled. When you bring in your own fish, it's family style with salad, potatoes, and breadsticks. The rockfish was really good. The tartar sauce was nice...not too pickly. I was not a fan of the seasoning on the halibut. I can't place what the spice was that was overpowering, but I felt like a simple lemon garlic would have just let the taste of the fish shine. The service was great. Our drinks were always full, the waitress was attentive. The ambiance of this place is weird, though. Between that and the overpowering weird spice on the halibut, I couldn't give it more than 3 stars. read more

We came and asked if they had gluten free pizza and they did. What a relief! We needed some food (hard to find gluten free in Seward)! I came in and ordered (because nobody was answering the phone and it was unclear if they were open - all a result of major staffing shortages in Seward I'm sure) and it took a little less than 30 minutes and they had my pizza ready for me. The pizza was good and I would certainly recommend for GF eaters if they can get to this place while it is open (hard to determine when that is). read more
