Pesto Pasta with Chicken and Lemon Drop Martini
    Abigail W.

Great staff and atmosphere. I got a pesto pasta with chicken. Pesto was very good - chicken was pretty dry. My cocktail was strong and tasty. Friendly staff giving me suggestions on where to go out the rest of the night.

I went here for lunch with my partner and a couple of friends today. They were busy inside so we sat outside. They make you pay right after you order when you sit outside here, which is understandable so people don't skip out on the bill. I ordered the bacon burger and fried mushrooms, my partner had the Irish stew, and my friends had the margherita pizza and the fish and chips. All the food was good. The fries were cooked well and were fluffy and crispy. The patty in the burger was pretty firm and a bit overcooked for me (they didn't ask for a temperature when I ordered so it was well done) but I put a lot of sauce on to help with that. The fried mushrooms were a bit odd. They didn't have much flavor and tasted a little overcooked. The waitress was nice but we only saw her a couple times, she didn't come to check on us. They were pretty busy so I get it. The outdoor dining area was nice but a bit cold even though the heater was on. Overall this place was alright, the food was mostly good but a bit pricey probably due to its location.

Beef lasagna...nothing unusual or attractive about the sauce.

We bumped into Flanagan's on a very busy Dublin Saturday evening. We were met at the entryway by a "host" who flashed a menu and wasn't at all happy that we didn't care to sit in the very warm rear section of an already warm restaurant. In fact, this guy didn't appear happy about anything as we watched him seating tables of diners without a smile. Between guests, Flanagan's own "Zero Personality Greeter" spent more time on his cell phone than smiling to be sure. Thankfully, our server was much more personable than her co-worker. She greeted us quickly in the comfortable setting and guided us to her favorites on the menu. I opted for the Lasagna (see photo) which arrived in good time and very hot. The chips, which I thought was an unusual accompaniment, did nothing to improve the bland entree. By the way, our server somehow adopted the host's style...she never returned to check on the food, drink levels or anything else. Too bad. She had been a bright spot. There are too many nearby restaurant options offering greater friendliness, service and food quality at fair prices. We'll be trying those places before returning to Flanagan's and recommend you do the same.

"Where's the flair?! I came for Tom Cruise, I got stew." Arrived at Flanagan's in Dublin fully expecting Cocktail vibes -- neon lights, bottles flying through the air, and a spontaneous dance-off on the bar. Instead, I walked into what can only be described as an Irish auntie's living room with menus. I asked the waiter if they do any flair bartending. He blinked twice and handed me a pint of Guinness with the speed and enthusiasm of a medieval monk. No flips. No tricks. Not even a wink. I tried shouting "Show me the money!" at the bar for good measure. Turns out that's the wrong movie and the wrong country. Only flair I witnessed was the swirl in my mashed potatoes. Came looking for Tom Cruise, left with a shepherd's pie and a deep sense of cinematic betrayal. Showed up expecting Cocktail... stayed just long enough to realize Tom Cruise doesn't work Wednesdays. Can't speak for the shepherd's pie, I was too heartbroken to eat

Excellent food. Had the traditional Irish fare. Service was very professional and our drinks were good. Other patrons were a lot of fun and we had a good time. Its location is easy to find.

Right smack in the middle of O'Connell street with Large portions, decent price, great staff, and a great atmosphere!

Good restaurant, good service. It wasn't crowded when we got in there and the service was quite friendly along with the atmosphere. I thought their portions were pretty generous and not too bad with prices. We were starving and we saw this place as it looked quite local and we were pretty happy with it. Adventure on my friends!

This restaurant is located in a great part of Dublin with plenty of pubs and shopping nearby. Our food was delicious and hot when it arrived. I ordered the bacon and cabbage, which was a huge portion that I couldn't finish but it was cooked perfectly. Our son had the bangers and mash which promptly disappeared. My son and husband both had the whiskey sour and proclaimed it to be one of the best they had in Ireland. The ambiance is very nice with rich brown woods and a lively crowd of patrons. There is outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was service. Our server was very curt and hard to get to come back to our table. However, food was great so maybe we will give them a chance to rectify again.

Popped in for a late dinner - this restaurant is north of the river liffey, in a busy but not TOO intensely touristy part of town. Got a gin and tonic, which was decent, and bangers and mash bc 1) I'm in Ireland HOW CAN YOU NOT?? and 2) I was ravenously hungry. It really hit the spot, although the sausages were a little crispier than I think the chef intended. Regardless, a solid dinner, and I was full by the end.

    Starter caeser salad (without chicken)

Great atmosphere & quickly seated! Food and drinks came out relatively quick. We loved everything we got and all drinks were delicious & strong. Unfortunately they were out of mussels, which we wanted as a starter. We split a Caesar salad instead and it was good! Had chunks of bacon in it. Lamb shank was the best we have had since being Ireland! The gravy with it is great, as were the mash. The soup of the day was a vegetable soup, which had more of a pea taste than expected. My friend who ordered it doesn't typically like pea soup but she still enjoyed this soup surprisingly. The shrimp scampi had good breading, but a lot of it. It was crispy, and sort of bland without being bad. Being from the United States I expected the shrimp to be on pasta, but it came on a bed of arugula. It came with fries (chips?). My mom said she would definitely order this again. We finished with some sticky toffee pudding. This has become a favorite while in Ireland & Flanagans did not disappoint!! Definitely recommend as your dessert! Our week long trip has ended with us here at Flanagans and I couldn't be happier. Everything was perfect! Service was too notch too. Definitely come here!!!

Horrible food, grossest thing we've ever eaten. Stick to the pubs in Dublin you can't go wrong.

Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.

The ambience is trad Irish at bar with a very modern menu. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Roisin greeted us at the door and was super helpful making out choices for dinner. Though the patrons are packed in, the sound level was comfortable for conversation and tucked in the corner we had more room than most anyone else. The food was superb. There a Cajun influence to the chef's palate. The seafood chowder is a red chowder, a little spicy, and light. It's of course chock full of fish. The corn bread served with the soup is unique. I asked and the chef flavors the bread with Cajun spices. It's excellent. My wife chose the goats cheese salad. The pastry they held the salad and cheese was so delicate. Our entrees included the beef that melted in your mouth. It's served rare and it's totally tender. The sea bass was also excellent. It's served of the bone with mussels, brocholini in a curry based sauce. It was a very generous portion. The potatoes served with the dishes were great. My wife had a tawny port and I chose the cider-see pic. It was delicious and refreshing. We didn't enjoy dessert and so I can't comment. I highly recommend this place!
