We finally tried Flare after hearing about it through an IG post. It is refreshing to find that there is now a local Korean restaurant in our area. When we arrived we were greeted promptly and seated. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready and the wait time for our food was quite short given the number of customers that were already there. We tried the chicken and beef hot pots and being that it was our first time there, we all went with the original flavor. The soup was served with a fire pot underneath and only gets hotter as the flame burns down. Granted you can have the flame put out at your request or give it 15-20 minutes to burn itself out. I did add an order of kim chee and when I added some to my soup, it took my hot pot to another level. So the next time we go, I may just try the spicy flavor hot pot. If not, I can at least build up the spice level with kim chee and other condiments at the table. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and has good natural lighting. We got plenty of food for what we paid, and there was no need to think or what to prepare for dinner when we returned home. read more

Adding an extra star for encouragement because it is so nice to have Korean food and boba in Lompoc. I had the beef skillet -- I added fried garlic & chiles, which I recommend doing! -- and a honeydew boba milk tea. Compared to places like Sizzling Lunch, where the meat is tender, moist, & still cooking when it's delivered, the skillet wasn't the best. It was dry, to be honest. But the flavor was OK, the sauces helped, and the portion size was ample; you'll have leftovers to enjoy. It would be nice to have more boba tea options -- e.g. some might prefer their tea without milk, or might prefer their milk tea as a slush -- but if you like milk tea you'll be satisfied. Ordering was a bit of a mystery at first -- they sat me with a placemat-like tea menu and walked away. I went up ask for a food menu, and they told me the food was on the other side -- I felt like a dumb-dumb, lol. All in all it's a promising start. I don't want to make a final judgement based on one dish on one day, so I plan to return to try some other menu items. read more

Authentice Korean food, but you would not guess that on physical building appearance. I'm Korean on a golf trip Memorial Holiday weekend (from SF Bay Area), and the dishes were SURPRISINGLY very good: specifically the Korean Miltary Stew and Seafood Soup. The Tonkatsu w curry and no curry were very good also. The portions are very filling! I will come back again when I visit Lompoc in the future, as the Korean owner was very courteous. My kids finally talked me into going back to Flare, and I wanted to make an update because this was the experience we were hoping for. The service was attentive and pleasant, the food was correct, plentiful and delicious. This is the Flare we fell in love with. I understand off days and that's why I wanted to give Flare another chance, and I'm so glad I did. My wife's Pork Belly Chili Paste Udon had a mountain of meat and my Korean Military Stew was fantastic(who knew American cheese could be so good in a soup), such a treat. The food was tasty and the service was good. We went at 5:00 p.m. on a Thursday and there was no wait to be seated. The waitress was attentive, but not overly, and very pleasant. It's a new restaurant, so there were some things that she wasn't sure about. One of us couldn't have wheat, and she wasn't sure about the noodles other than one plate that she knew was rice noodles. She'll learn! The tables had a small, wooden three drawer cabinet that held loose utensils. I kind of winced at thought of having other patron's hands on my forks, etc. It was pretty cool in there so they had a wonderful heat lamp that kept us nice and toasty. The walls are very dark with little pinholes of light that look like stars... That was so cute! The lighting over the tables was excellent. I am not crazy about the metal chairs because they have a support rail from the back to the seat. I am not skinny but I am not super wide (size 14-16) and those supports were cutting into my hip causing me to sit at an angle. They look good but are too narrow for a larger-than-average person.. my ONLY negative statement. Parking was fine and next to the building. There is a single restroom with hot water (mmm) that was clean except in front of the toilet where someone may have dripped urine. Maybe a little more regular checking could be done. There was a lot to choose from and many items I had no idea of. Prices are reasonable (12\2024). My meal was $17.95 and there was enough left over for an entire meal the following day. Interestingly, it came sizzling in a metal bowl set on a little wooden "crate" atop a Sterno-type fire. All in all, I recommend this restaurant and hope it does well! Stay in business long enough for your waitresses to learn all of the ingredients and be able to answer all the questions. Get some more comfortable chairs in there, and keep making your delicious food! read more

The food was amazing, wait staff were alert and available and it was the soft opening. Chef came out and talked to several customers including us, she asked if we were enjoying the food and if we had any suggestions etc. I have to say that we'll absolutely be going back, she has a very nice Menu and I'm sure every plate out will be delicious read more

Staying in Lompoc for the weekend and we wanted to order in and just have an easy night. Tried flare when we saw it on DoorDash and it is so good. I got the spicy pork noodles which are really yummy. It's like a thick udon noodle and not very spicy, but very flavorful. My husband got the shrimp boil order and everything was very tasty. The strawberry Matcha Boba is also yummy too. read more

I absolutely loved this place! I got the seafood boiling pot(basically a premade hot pot) and it was super tasty. I got mine not spicy, they gave me an option of chicken or pork broth, I will say the server I had was very sweet and attentive. The food was tasty, I didn't feel like the skimped on any of the seafood, I got a big bunch of veggies with it , and was able to bring home a good amount. The boba was also Totally delicious! The actual place was lovely! They had a big screen with MLP playing the whole time with no volume, it was pretty sweet in my opinion. If you look closely at the walls and ceiling, there are LEDS that shift colors on the loti galaxy pattern! Food was a fair price, but I prob will need to plan a little get together with my friends before I come back, since the place is a bit pricey, but very much worth it! read more

The location was hard to find at night unless you are a local and knew it used to be the Thai restaurant lol ... parking lot is small . The restaurant has no heat except 2 electric space heaters on tripods extremely dangerous, now to the service upon walking in. No one welcomed our party and there were no directions or signs to say please wait to be seated. The staff was as confused and lost as we were. Once being seated it took 10 -15 mins for a server to come back and take our drink order. We decided to try the boba milk tea (was the only good thing). After seeing how long it took for drinks we decided to also send in appetizers as well ... 20 mins later appetizers still had not come out .. when flagging down a server and asking they take the main order instead of inquiring about our appetizers. Well another 10 mins goes by and out comes our clearly microwaved appetizers (not fully cooked through and temperature ) the popcorn chicken dish was ok but the breading was mushy and blah. The spring rolls were cold halfway through. We could not get the wait staff attention so we left it. Then the food comes out. Looks nothing like the the pictures or menus , the Crispy noodles were a wet soupy mess and instead of the pork belly we had pork chunks which the pork was so overcooked it was 3 different colors and had a rancid smell (did not eat) , got the Tonkotsu spicy ramen with garlic. The noodles were not cooked the broth was sitting in the kitchen so it was separated and I had to mix it ... the broth had little to no flavor the pork was so overcooked and tough it could not be eaten and smelled rancid i got 3 or for bites and stopped I could not take the torture. Finally when a server came and asked of everything was. And we told her she said oh uh ok. No I'm sorry no let me get my manager . Nothing definitely will not be coming back way to expensive and horrible food and service read more

First time dining here. Restaurant was clean and inviting. I ordered the pork belly boiling pot with a side of ramen noodles. My dish had good taste but the pork was cooked a little too much for my liking. There were 2 waiters. The person that was not my waiter checked on me and was more attentive than my waiter. After my waiter took my order he never came back to my table. The gentleman with the piercings that helped me hopefully got the tip I left. Honestly, the food was okay. I liked the presentation. Service was terrific. Hats off to Wisdom and Sydney. My difficulty was the music. It was loud when our group of 5 came in. So we asked if it wouldn't be too much trouble to turn it down since we were the only customers in there. They immediately complied. 5 minutes later it was turned back up (didn't they think we'd notice?). We again asked for them to turn it down. We were trying to have a conversation and it was difficult to hear. They complied. 5 minutes later repeat. Then to top it off, somebody decided we needed extra bass! My gosh, that was so uncomfortable my ears hurt. Same request to turn that off and it just came right back on. It completely ruined my experience in this new restaurant. Honestly, we were so disappointed in this place. We came in excited to try hot pot, but this was by far the worst we've had in California and we've tried plenty. I ordered the pork belly hot pot, and it was the barest soup I've ever been served. Literally a slice of zucchini, two pieces of bok choy, and a couple other sad veggies floating in broth. I've never been to a hot pot place where it's basically just soup. They have a huge menu, but it feels like they just reuse the same base for everything. My "pork belly hot pot" broth tasted exactly like ramen soup. Honestly, I might as well have just ordered the ramen. There's no sauce bar, which is a staple for hot pot. But honestly, there's nothing to dip here anyway given how bare the pot was. And seeing a menu that massive makes me wonder how much of it is just frozen. The hot pot was a total miss, but I'll give them this, the coffee milk tea was fine. Overall, it feels like they're trying really hard to be one of those trendy Asian spots... but they're not. read more

Visited on 11/27. The service was wonderful. We walked in the door and were seated immediately with the menu. My husband ordered the shrimp skillet with garlic flakes on the side. There is a suggestion on every table to add sauces for extra flavors. The only sauce was a chili sauce and the garlic flakes were the other option. Other than the little bit of garlic flakes, there was no flavor to be had. There were a few herbs maybe in the butter that was placed atop the rice but truly not even salt or pepper were evident in the entree. I ordered from the small skillets ( appetizers actually) I had the Poke skillet. As it turns out that is simply seaweed salad with an unidentifiable protein on top. The picture looked like Ahi so I guess that's what I was expecting. It was not. It wasn't identifiable because it had no flavor but was sort of tough and chewy. I'm sorry to leave a poor review because I love to have new options here in Lompoc. I hope by leaving this review maybe they will review their menu items and make improvements.
