I have American Home Shield and my garage door opener stopped working. AHS send out Flash. First the tech told me the circuit board needed replacing, then he said the motor needed replacing and that I had the wrong spring. He said AHS did not cover springs and I could oay $289 for a new one. The next time he came out he said the whole unit needed replacing. AHS told me that they did cover the spring and new opener. Tech said no, they do not cover the spring in my case. I found out the spring was indeed covered And paid for by AHS. So why was I charged $289? Flash then said the $289 was actually for a garage door tune up, that I would not have bought. Flash tricked me into spending $289 for a tune up I did not want under the guise that it was for a non covered spring which was actually covered. I complained to a manager and he was supposed to call me back two weeks ago but never did. This company is slick about using your Home warranty company to get payment from them and extra money from you by using deceitful tactics. read more

Put in a service call late on Saturday thinking I would not get a call back until Monday. Sure enough, not long after my call a service rep called me and made an appointment for Monday. Jr. came out and called me to let me know when he was coming and on his way. Was super professional and very quick! Had our spring replaced in no time. Identical to other complaint reviews, Flash Garage Door Service told me that springs/cables weren't covered under my home warranty. The tech on-site "JR" told me $489 labor only to retighten the springs/cables. This sounded really high for simply retightening cables/springs so I called their office as a potential customer and asked them what the price would be to retighten springs/cables labor only no component replacement using the verbatim language JR used with me. The intake rep Hannah told me that's a standard service charge a of $129. I called 3 other companies in the Round Rock area to check pricing for the same service, they all told me a range of $89-$125. I spoke with the field supervisor Eric and he told me the field techs have variable price setting based on their experience and what needs to be done. He explained to me that the tech gets a commission and the company gets paid a fee. This sounds like an opportunity for price gouging, and during a week long Texas snow storm its a shame there are people taking advantage of Texans in this time of need. read more

Went through American Home Shield and this was the contractor they sent out. When rep arrived he had to fix the safety wires on the sensor and reconnect traveling arm to the actual door. He was very rude and abrasive and said he was unable to fix those two items because my garage door had previously been worked on (thru American Home Shield) and it was against Flash is policy but he said he was more than happy to sell me a brand new garage door. I told him that was ridiculous and I asked him to show me how to fix it and I'd just do it myself. His reply "I'm not here to teach fucking school" so I asked him to leave. Tried contacting there office with absolutely no response from their management. Went back to American Home shield they sent a different vendor out for a second opinion and they gladly fixed my garage door. STRONGLY RECOMMEND NEVER TO USE THIS COMPANY. The technician came out and replaced the spring assembly on the door costing $398 in addition to the $100 to AHS for the service call. The entire system was not working so the technician took pictures and said he would send his notes to AHS to see if they would cover replacing the motor and belts. I called AHS later only to find out the technician put in his notes that we continued to use the system after the spring broke and that it wasn't normal wear and tear. The fact that we continued to use the system after the spring broke isn't true. The door has been virtually unusable for 2 weeks. Keep in mind this is a 6 year old contractor grade garage door opener opening a double insulated door. I wish I could give 0 stars right now. read more

If I could give zero I would. Mike with Flash came out and told me I needed 650 worth of work, and none of it would be covered u set warranty (AHS). He said the motor and circuit board was burned out and wouldn't work without replacing it. I had another company come by and do some maintenance work and replace some stuff and got it working for less than half what he quoted. If the motor and circuit board was burned how did the other guy get it working??! FLASH IS A SCAM STEAR CLEAR!!! AHS is actually refunding my service fee (and they never give back money). read more

I've had a few different garage door companies service my openers and they weren't bad but this company, JB specifically pointed out things that could become issues soon and gave me preventative measures to take to avoid them and cost more down the road. Also showed up on time, dressed professional and was knowledgeable. I have 2 openers in a big garage, they have me as a customer for life! read more

I have Home Shield Ins. and they sent our a technician from Flash Door Services. The technician looked at my door and stated the problem is you have a broken spring and it will cost you $525 to repair. I told him the garage door opener (Genie model) gear was broke and needed to be repaired. The technician stated the gear isn't broke, there's nothing wrong with the garage door opener- then sent the work request back to the insurance saying the garage door opener was fine but the spring in which is NOT covered is broke. The technician didn't even fix the part that was broke and I still had to pay the $75 service fee. I called a different garage door company who came out the next day and fixed the spring for $240 and looked at the gear and said that's part of the problem. The gear was broke in 5 pieces. I don't recommend this company because the tech that came out was too lazy to do the job and he was rude. read more
