They charge me $125 for emergency services ???!!! when it's an open day of business and I even asked if I just wait a day do you NOT charge 125.? They said yes. This struck me is highly unusual. They came to my home about an hour later. Both workers are fine however I thought the price well over $500 PLUS the $125 was extremely too high based on the research I've done. We are American Home Shield. We knew only door opener was covered but we did not know what went wrong so we used AHS. They sent out Monty from Flash Garage Door Service. He gave us relief that only cables and rollers needed repaired. We also got a new remote and he programed our vehicles for us too. I had gotten four estimates before Flash arrived. The cost was mid range but the service was excellent. Monty did warn us the cables loosen because our spring was getting old. We will wait till it goes out, and then we will call Flash again. read more

This company was assigned to us through American Home Shield to fix our malfunctioning garage door opener. We were given a windows from between 2- 6 pm when a technician should show up at our home. Around 5:45 on (Friday) the day of the appointment we received a call from the technician saying that he was running behind on jobs and wouldn't be able to make it to our house, and that he'd have to reschedule our repair. We rescheduled our appointment for Monday @ 3:30 pm. When Monday at 3:30 arrives, the technician never shows, we never received a phone call, and we had to find a new company to do the work. This company is unprofessional, unreliable, and I wouldn't trust their work based off of their lack of integrity and time management. read more

Filed a claim through my warranty. Garage wont open and I have a 10 y/o so I consider this situation a potential emergency when my only car is in the garage which wont open. I called and left a voicemail Friday night about needing emergency service. (Their site claims 24/7 emergency service availability.) I just received a call and was told the first available appt was Monday. I asked for emergency service and she said through the home warranty they don't provide emergency service. They will only schedule for the week beginning Monday. Obviously this company is not concerned about customer service, accepting new jobs or reputation. Do not use this company. read more

My home warranty company called Flash Garage Door Services to repair my garage door. Tyler was the tech assigned to the job. The appointment was scheduled between 1pm and 5pm. Tyler did not ultimately arrive until somewhere between 8pm and 9pm. It was determined that repair to the circuit board was required. Rather than being replaced, it was repaired (or so I thought). Tyler also added a brace to the door that was not included in the repair cost and that I paid for out of pocket. Approximately 6 weeks later, the door failed and was not opening as it should. It would work intermittently. and then stopped altogether. I reached out to Tyler and he said that he would come look at the garage door opener. I sent him a video of what the door was doing. I had to reach back out to Tyler at least twice to ask when he would look at the failed repair. He did respond once, but ultimately never showed. My garage door is still not working and I have paid for a repair that did not solve the problem. I would not recommend this company for the above obvious reasons. read more

I called to replace a broken garage door spring at 3:30 (on a weekday) and by 4:15 everything was completed and paid for. The technician, John, was professional and efficient. The cost for this spring repair was just below the $200-$300 range I found while researching costs. As a woman who usually answers the door with a dog and baby in tow, I look like someone who is willing to buy unnecessary "upgrades" and warrantees. I'm prepared for long sales pitches when I get a quote, so it was a very pleasant surprise when my options were simple and my quote was reasonable. "DO NOT use this company." They are crooks. After I said I'm not paying you $80 to come back and put the belt on it's not my fault you don't have the part. he then informed me he was going to do me a favor and not charge me the $80 to come back that it would just be $125 to balance the door. (If he told the Home Warranty Company it was the door being unbalanced that they would not cover anything. It's exactly what he did) I waited a week for them to show up. now he's telling me it's going to be another week before the part even comes in. I asked if there was anything he could do so that the door was easier to raise. I'm 5'5 and weigh 120lbs. I couldn't push the garage door up never mind the fact that unless someone is holding it up I can't get my car out. He's Response "NO." I waited a week for them to show up now he's telling me it's going to be another week to get the belt. now because he lied to the home warranty company about what the problem was they will not cover any of the repair. so rude and unprofessional. I had Good Guys Garage recommened to me by a neighbor who was very happy with their service. My garage door motor was running but not pulling the garage door up. I called and spoke to Kory. He asked me a few questions about my opener (make,model, what is it doing, etc). We set up an appointment the next day for him to come out and see what the problem was. It turns out that it was just the plastic drive gear had finally failed. Kory had it replaced in short order and for a very fair price. When my husband and I moved into our new house the garage was super loud and rickety. My tech showed up on time and did a fantastic job. He offered maintinence to help the door run better and expertly educated us on proper maintinence to avoid a crashed door. I wish I would have recorded how loud the door was before because it is incredibly quiet now. Flash Garage is as good as it gets! Today I had issues with my garage door opening and my car was STUCK inside my garage! I was supposed to leave today for a road trip for the holiday weekend. I made several calls to try and get service today and no one could do it. Jess showed up at 7:40am & had my automatic garage door fixed before 8am. As a woman homeowner, and despite my being an attorney, I am sometimes spoken down to & misguided when it comes to repairs but I can assure you that was not the case with Jess/Flash Garage Door Service. He didn't try to sell me more repairs/services than were necessary. While I didn't obtain quotes from other companies, the cost of the repair and basic maintenance was more than fair and reasonable based on the price of other home repairs, and especially given the emergent nature of this issue. The technician was very unprofessional and rude. He was unable to repair our garage door with American Home Shield because he stated that weight of the added insulation caused the garage door to malfunction, but the insulation was simply pieces of styrofoam that weighed less than 2 pounds collectively. Not to mention, the styrofoam had been placed on the door before we bought the house two years ago and was never an issue until now that there's a REAL issue with the garage door opener that is unable to be repaired due to two additional pounds of insulation. read more

I have to agree with the other reviewers! Normally the businesses and tech's that American Home Shield sends out are the worst! You usually get a nasty receptionist scheduling you and then a tech that's mean and doesn't know what they're doing. HOWEVER, this was completely NOT the case with Flash! The spring snapped on our garage door and we called American Home Shield on Friday afternoon, Flash contacted us within 15 minutes of submitting our issue and would've scheduled us for Monday if we didn't have a previous engagement - so we set it for Tuesday. The gentleman who I scheduled with was very kind and set up the appointment for Tuesday between 9-1. As promised, I received a call at 9:45 from Kenny that he'd be to our house in 15 minutes. Sure enough, he was and he was very nice and super professional! He not only replaced our spring, but also answered my questions and educated me on the garage door (this is mine and my husbands first house/garage - so I welcomed the knowledge!). So update to this review ... I called my home warranty company to let them know they need to relook the garage company they are using . I found out that when the company did the paper on their end to submit to ahs they justified the pricing by saying it was another part and the springs, so to the warranty company the quote looked valid. I then ended up explains to them the only thing they told me and quoted me for on my end was the springs. I ended up emailing a copy of my quote to the warranty company showing that they only quoted me for springs... the warranty company looked at the going rate for spring repair and say the company was way out of line for the pricing and that the quote they gave me did not match up with the paper work submitted. read more
