He was nice and willing to help me find what I needed. The store is well stocked with wines and whisky's of all sorts. Service is no good. The first time I went there trying to find a good wine for Valentine's Day and was hoping to find one similar to a wine I had in NYC. Today I went to look and possibly purchase a wine decanter as a house warming gift for a friend, and the first thing that came out of the employees mouth was how "expensive" their decanter options are. He also mentioned there was another decanter in the back storage. That is much more expensive. I did not give this man a budget; however, for him to insinuate that the options available are too expensive for me is highly insulting. We usually don't have much alcohol in the house, but after discovering this place on a whim we've come back time and time again. It's an especially great place to buy a gift, they sell gift bags for very affordable prices and even put tissue paper in for you. After not being able to reach a human being at Wally's Beverly Hills and no returned phone calls about gifts I was looking to purchase and have delivered, I gave up. Wally's can be a fun in store experience but they fall short on pricing and service. So "Flask Fine Wine and Whiskey" to the rescue. What a gem of a store that is right in the heart of Studio City. The owner is next level knowledgeable and takes tremendous pride of ownership. There's a collection of Bourbon here that will rival any store. I walked in around 11 am and by 4 pm, the gift was delivered to Brentwood on New Year's Eve. Wally's falls way short on a number of levels while the Flask gets 5 stars all day long. Had a minor mishap with a wine I purchased from there a few months ago but the owner, Peter, got in touch and remedied it right away. I love supporting local businesses, but especially ones who stand behind their product. Peter's recommendation of the Hourglass wine was spot on - opened it tonight and it was fantastic! Good selection ... but I can't abide by the overly inflated secondary prices here. It really turns me off to shopping at this store. I get that bourbon is insanely desirable right now and people in LA have stupid money to spend ... but to see a bottle of Weller Full Proof, which retails at $70 selling for $600 doesn't sit well with me at all. $200+ Blanton's which is around $50/bottle being touted as a 'special sale'. The whole store feels kind of like going to a ticket scalper to me, more than a liquor store. I do try to support small, local liquor stores over the big box ones like Total Wine or Bevmo. Or even Ralph's where the prices are lower. But when I see Flask charging $400 for a hard to find $40 bottle of bourbon, it makes me less likely to do so. Sorry, I know that these bottles are very coveted and impossible to find ... and I'm okay with paying a bit of a markup to help a local business. But it just feels wrong to see such high secondary prices. read more

I ordered a bottle of Louis XIII for bro's wedding online. Day after placing order, i get an email letting me know the bottle was out of stock with the option of waiting or cancelling order. I wasn't on a time crunch so i waited. I called a few days later and spoke to Sarah (i think). She let me know they were expecting a shipment in a day or two. Because i had already waited almost a week, they expedited the order and received it 4 days later.. to Alaska! I can't believe the level of customer service this business has. Something like this.. not too common this day n age. FYI, just under 3k for a bottle of Louis compared to 3600 in vegas and nearing 4k with all the bs sin taxes in WA. Deeply disappointed by my experience today. You would hope small businesses would be grateful for loyal customers - and help them feel welcome and wanted. Or at the very least give them decent service. I've been frequenting this liquor store for at least 12 years for gifts - generally for wines and champagnes. Called to see what kind of champagne's they had in and said needed to purchase two bottles as gifts. In the past they always gift wrapped bottles if they had a decent value to them and you were spending a fair amount. But they've taken this away - said I would have to purchase a gift bag. Fair enough. Told them exactly what I was looking for and what time I would be by. Apparently now the store is completely closed and you have to wait at a window for them to decide to come on up and help you. As requested I pulled up behind the store to the service window they had open, rang the doorbell ... and was ignored. For 5 minutes just left standing outside, no acknowledgement. Call the store phone, they ignore it. Even though I can clearly see the manager talking to ONE customer (for 10 minutes). Didn't bother to acknowledge me, just ignored me for about 10 minutes. I could hear the phone ringing with other folks hoping to place orders, they were ignored as well, and instead the one person working or spending all their time on one customer for what ended up being about 14 minutes of just standing with NO ACKNOWLEDGMENT. Then a FedEx delivery guy came up and I say, Thank god- maybe you'll have better luck... The store is just completely ignoring me..." and HE laughs and says: no, they ignore me all the time too- ...." And laughs and rolls his eyes. Unbelievably rude... I finally (nicely) called out to the manager after he's been talking to the same customer for about 15 minutes and stated that the FedEx delivery guy was there and I was there to pick up the champagne bottles he put aside. He said, "just give me a minute I'm by myself"... This was on Halloween Saturday night- 4 pm!! - why on earth does this expensive liquor store have one person working, and WHY is the etiquette to just completely ignore everyone else instead of politely acknowledging them and asking if they can wait?? So basically the way that this store is handling things is to completely ignore customers until they're ready to actually help you... Don't give me the courtesy of acknowledging that you're there for an appointment that you've already made on the phone to pick up some thing you've purchased, and will simply leave you standing outside... There's a LOT of liquor stores all around Studio City... If this one can't figure out how to actually be respectful of customers (who have loyalty returned for over 12 years!!) ... We might as well spend elsewhere. One last note: of course given that they are an expensive liquor store right on the main Boulevard, they have cameras. Management is welcome to check the cameras to verify that the time this happened and the amount of time we were left standing outside before the one employee bother to move back to acknowledge our existence. It should all be well documented on the security camera system. If Management truly cares they're welcome to message - But given that this is how they're training their staff and given the fact they can't be bothered to have any more staff on the Saturday evening of Halloween weekend - I'm guessing that they're just not invested in quality customer service at this time. read more

Went there on a Sunday afternoon. Was not able to go in the store, but the clerk was helpful and brought me exactly what I wanted, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne. The clerk wasn't aware of the advertised prices on the store's web site, so I paid full price, and I didn't really check, until I had gone home. I called the store shortly after I got home, explained the situation to the same clerk, and he was very efficient in refunding me the difference between the full price and the online sale price. Good experience shopping online here during the pandemic. They have some seriously rare and cool stuff (occasionally with the price to match). Shipments have consistently gone out the same or next day, which is great. When searching on the website, make sure to watch out for which store the items are at (this is the Studio City location, but they also have a location in Highland Park - sometimes staff even seem to get a bit confused about it!). The only negative is that they did ship some of my bottles in their individual retail cardboard presentation boxes, which then got crushed in the protective shipping material. They should really take the bottles out of those boxes and ship them folded flat in a separate part of the shipment. I'll make a note of this on my next order and hopefully not have this problem again. read more

Not so easy to find a purveyor of exceptional wines, who will take the time to help you make the best selections and then beautifully crate wrap and ship or deliver! They will even engrave a crate for you , with just a few days notice! Peter made me feel so special, like I had been a customer for years. Another gift certificate, another adventure! I was told that the gift certificate was being held behind the counter. This had me a little nervous, but after the great service at the cheese shop, I was ready to tackle alcohol. There were no problems with the gift certificate and I was ready to buy! I don't think I am an aficionado when it comes to alcohol. I believe in liking what I like no matter who says it sucks. Upon talking to the owner, I now think that I know maybe a little more than the average drinker. Either that or I just like expensive alcohol. The owner helped me choose a white for my cheese board and he directed me to a sparkling wine that I want to save for my boyfriend's birthday trip to San Diego that I am planning in a couple of weeks. On the way out, I saw the hard liquors. Oh my god. I saw things that I wanted, have drank and loved, and just... just... drool... I was like a kid in a candy store - an adult candy store! "Redbreast 12 Year. Oh, yum!" "I tried Gin Mare in Mallorca. I had to get a coworker to bring me back a bottle when he traveled to Spain." "I am looking for Navan." "Oh, look the Yamazaki 12 year! They didn't have it when we toured the factory in Japan." "My favorite tequila, Clase Azul!" I was seriously all over the place. I found out that Flask does tastings almost every week. Wine is more than just a beverage: it is an experience. Evoking feelings of warmth, family, laughter, and grapes hanging on vines; it is nothing short of classy and inviting. One would hope that these feelings are similarly aroused when shopping for these glorious, liquid gold bottles. Unfortunately, that is NOT the case with Flask Fine Wines. I must be living in an alternate dimension as Flask's Yelp listing is filled with 5-star reviews and my experience was completely on the opposite end of the spectrum (although it should be noted that the high reviews are over 2 years old). Perhaps it was an "off day" at Flask but I am deterred from ever even returning to test that hypothesis. Now granted, we arrived about 15 minutes before closing on a Sunday so perhaps that explains my following experience. However, there is no excuse for poor customer service regardless of the day or time. My boyfriend and I arrived at Flask Fine Wines after a trip to Bev Mo (which is across the street from Flask), only to find an empty store. Literally. There were no other customers, no employees, and dead silence. To the point where I called out, "Hello? Anyone here?" and made a joke to take the wine and run. Finally, a younger (early 30s) male came in from the back door. No apology, no explanation, nothing. We instantly felt unwelcome. I tried to strike up a conversation but the associate had no personality, grace, and obviously either didn't want to be there or personally didn't like us. Who knows. He DID answer some of our questions but the responses were short and monotone and we could barely get anything out of him. Terrible. So what does Flask offer besides poor customer service? We noticed a bar and thus asked about tastings which occur on Thursdays at 5pm. Instead of a flat rate, these are by the glass with an extensive menu (with new offerings offered each week). My boyfriend asked about palate cleansers and the associate said they serve some cheese with the wine. I can't comment on the tastings as we were obviously not there for one (and I am not enticed to return). The store itself had a large selection of wine including Italian, Spanish, California, and champagnes (sadly, I couldn't find any Argentinian Malbec). There were some refrigerated wines and spirits available, as well. However, Flask had a lot of empty space, dusty bottles, and out of stock selections. I simply was not impressed. On the other hand, prices were acceptable and well-marked for their offerings. Need some wine-related gift items? Flask offers some specialty items (glasses, bottle openers, etc) but this was limited as well. Long story, short: I find more offerings and have a better experience at Bev Mo. Heck, I've had a better time at some convenience stores! A positive of Flask? They offer custom-made gift baskets and work with your budget and theme. No, this isn't something that the non-caring associate mentioned-- I discovered this per my own internet research. Overall, Flask is a dud. Poor service, limited selection, and turning wine into a negative experience; it is not worth a visit. Again, I realize that I am an oddball per these reviews; but it is what it is and I will not hide my bad experience. I'll just stick to Bev Mo across the street. read more

I do not give many five star ratings, but this place is the shit. Or "terrific" depending on your place on the hip hop savvy scale. I have gone a few times lately, hesitantly at first because it's been open for years and it was a dump. It's been bought by the lovely Peter who is welcoming, nice and knows his wine and spirits!! He also know quite a bit about music. There are a few others working here who I wouldn't hesitate to ask for help namely Scott and Ben. Scott is the man I've badgered and he held up extremely well. There is a terrific selection including lots of old world European wines. The wine tasting is a hoot! Try it. You won't be disappointed. We had a lot of fun and I actually listened and learned a few things. I live a few miles away with a number of wine stores between me and Flask, but I go there. It's been worth every mile. Stumbled upon this place when my bf and I were strolling down Ventura Blvd one night and decided to check it out. Definitely was a great decision! We ended up doing a wine tasting and found our new favorite wine that we bring to any big event or holiday. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He let us try some really good stuff and also provided great conversation. We told him we were going on a trip to Barcelona so he decided to look up some great vineyards nearby there and gave us a list to take on our trip. Very thoughtful of him! Dropped in for a few minutes and I am amazed at the selections. I collect whiskey and I didn't think they carry some of the highly sought whiskey - hibiki, nikka, etc. Very impressive collection. Some of the more rare whiskey are more overpriced, but fair given how hard it is to find. Love the wine tasting at Flask. Reasonably priced and fun. The staff is very friendly and know their stuff. Only downfall is no food for sale during regular tastings-but not their fault-comes down to what is allowed thru their license. You can however bring your own snacks!
