This place has the best prices we have seen! We've been searching the SF Valley for a particular brand of top-shelf bourbon and found it today for a great price at Cabana Liquor on the corner of Van Nuys Blvd and Ventura Blvd. We would have had to pay 25+% more at the only other place where we could find it. Parking here can be a challenge as there are only a few spots in the back in the alley. Don't park in the parking lot as that's reserved for the Office building that's connected to the Liquor store. I ordered the NY Steamer and Cole slaw. The sandwich was a nice size and had a good amount of meat on it. I liked the taste, but nothing out of the ordinary. The Cole slaw didn't have too much seasoning on it. It just tasted like they just tossed it on mayo. With all that said, the reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars is because their food made me sick and I was on the porcelain through the day and a few times woke me up on the middle of the night. With the amount of positive reviews, I'm pretty sure this has to be a one off. So if I do give them another shot, I will update my review then. read more

So couple things, this deli shop is inside the liquor store so takes a hot second to find if you aren't looking for that. We got the Y.E.L.P. And the pastrami sandwiches. Both were super tasty. The YELP has a sundried tomato aioli with a little spice. Cheese lettuce tomato and turkey. It is on point. The bread is heavy (we recommend the Italian bread) The pastrami was good (I like it on sourdough bread) and comes with cheese and a slaw. Very tasty with a smooth flavor. Great sandwiches but BEWARE! They are the size of a newborn child, be ready for a huge lunch. The staff was very conversational and considerate, the sandwiches taste great, and are HUGE, especially for how much they cost. Find it crazy I'm leaving a review for a this but I just want people to beware that you will purchase here and they will layer tell you you owe them money. It had been weeks and the older bald guy with glasses harassed me saying i owe him $3 because he was on the phone and wasn't paying attention. I have been coming here for years and would never cheat anyone. Yet he said I confirmed the price so it wasn't my fault and I'm not really sure he was being honest. But if your willing to lose business for $3 if that was true and no fault of mine then so be it. Very rude I felt very uncomfortable and have no need to ever spend my money here or my family. This mom/pop liquor store is great! The middle-eastern man that works here is always friendly and if you're not, he'll serve it right back to you with a smirk on his face--- love that! They've got a varied selection of anything you'd want regarding booze and if all else fails, go try one of their minis that they have stockpiled. There's a particular merlot we love, and this place usually sells it for ~$2 cheaper than Ralph's or neighboring liquor stores. Ssssshhh...I can't say which brand or it'll blow the cover. read more

This has to be one of my favorite place to shop for wine and beer!! The owner is very knowledgeable about wine and wine pairings. I was throwing a dinner party and went there the owner helped me make selections for the various courses in my dinner menu. And, my guests loved it. I couldn't take credit for it because all our friends know I am not an expert at this. My husband loves wine and we have traveled a great deal through Europe and the owner is very well informed about the wine in different regions of the world. It's nice to hear someone explain things about wine in California just like we learned in Bordeaux. This liquor store has the best selection of beer, wine and liquor. And the occasional grocery item or staple that you need 'right now'. It's a very spacious store always filled and organized. There are very good beer specials every visit. The staff (family run) here is friendly and obviously admired, since whenever I go in there's someone telling a story and there's someone else waiting in line to tell another story! The man with glasses and balding white hair was a bigot. His service was discriminatory against me because I am a young person of color. I was reading the information on the beers and he assumed I was not going to buy anything and treated me wrongly. As i was parusing through the beer selections he kept telling me to shut the fridge and when i politely informed him that I was comparing alcohol percentages he made offensive remarks and kicked me out of the store. I did not act upon his ignorance and poor behavior but I am greatly offended by his treatment and will never shop here ever again. Great neighborhood liquor store. I love the guys who work here, too. They pride themselves in keeping their beer coolers very cold. They always have the coldest beer.
