Delicious organic crust pizza! Expensive but worth it! Wish we lived closer but were just visiting.

This is no longer a bakery. It is only a sales point, goods are baked elsewhere and delivered. I used to love arriving here at 8 am and smelling the fresh baked croissants and other pastries. Reminded me of trips to Europe or large city neighborhood bakeries. No longer. Worse, as was the case this morning, their delivery of baked goods had not arrived at 8. So I am on the lookout for other nearby early morning bakeries. read more

We have been here a couple times and it's one of our favorite stops on our road trips. Located on a small tree lined street, it's easy to find because there's a traffic light. There's parking in back if you turn at the light. Breakfast on the back porch area is enjoyable and we usually take baked goods to go. This spot was very pretty. It's up in the mountains. I loved the vibe. We don't get this in Florida. At first I thought it was a bakery but they actually have pizza and sandwiches so I took advantage and got the margarita pizza! The croissants are Beverly soft and fluffy. Super delicious and rich in flavor. The brownie is also tasty. It's not too sweet where it's overpowering. It's perfect! The pizza was also a decent size and tasty. It came put quickly as well, less than 10 min. We got to sit outdoor in a shaded area. They have chickens running around and so many pretty flowers. Really loved it here. read more

Very solid bakery. Pastries were really incredible although at a premium price. Seemed like a cool place to hangout as well.

The food was excellent! I had a bran raisin muffin and half of a turkey avocado sandwich and both were delicious. My Americano tasted great. Friendly atmosphere, clean bathrooms, good service. There is a small parking lot on the side of the bakery, but there is overflow parking across the street. Oh, and check out the day old bread and bagels! Still yummy and half off! read more

Arrived at 10:40 to order breakfast on a Saturday. I picked up the breakfast menu and immediately the woman behind the counter says "Silas can you switch out the menus" (she saw me) He took the menu from me and replaced it with the lunch menu. I had looked online before coming to make sure I would be able to order breakfast. I ended up ordering some pastries to go and when checking out and it came to the tip portion. The woman who at the register was the one who told "Silas" to take my menu from me.. I did not tip as I found this experience very rude. She made a point of picking up the tip jar and maki eye contact with me. Seriously? I felt very uncomfortable during this whole interaction. Maybe some customer service coaching and accurate website information will help prevent this in the future.. read more

Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience here today. We came here somewhat frequently however today we had a rude cashier, she was obviously overworked and not happy about her job. To manager: Yes many people are working overtime and we understand that many are tired and getting paid minimum wages, but , if you are working with the public you should be more respectful to your customers, after all you have a job because of your customers. The best pizza you will ever eat. My favorite is the Goat Cheese pizza with artichoke hearts and spinach. The crust is thin and crispy which means you can eat the entire pizza by yourself! Just came back to Flat Rock after being away for 5 years. This marvelous place is still going strong. Chef and owner Dave Workman is the king of detail and perfect ingredients (I should know, as I worked for him for a bit). The mushroom pizza and the coffees are the best. What a great little complex with lots going on from Oscars brewery to a barbecue restaurant Village bakery is where we got some grab and goes and they have another restaurant here for breakfast or brunch but it's always been busy every time I've come so I have actually never experienced it. SUPER EXCITED to try this bakery since we adore West First Pizza in Hendersonville. It did not disappoint. They were so kind and respectful of the 'social distancing' right now. It smelled amazing and they were fast too. So excited to make my soup amd enjoy their sourdough bread I have heard so much about. We splurged and got a croissant, cinnamon roll and each a breakfast sandwich which we will save some for later because they are a really nice size. The amazing bacon took a back seat to the crusty toasted sourdough and the warm everything bagel. Just cannot wait to return and try one of their famous sticky buns this weekend!!!! Flatrock Village Bakery was a nice surprise of an unexpected find. The coffee was so good I went back for seconds. We enjoyed their bakery cookies as well. You must go there and try them out. There are also some really cute little shops there to enjoy. read more

They removed both my favorite items from the menu: baby spinach salad and turkey Caesar sandwich and I wonder if life will ever be the same. However they still have their focaccia bread and a similar lemon dressing which makes alternate options like the roast beef sandwich and garden salad still very good. read more

This is one of the treasures of the area. We eat here whenever we can. I love the pizza. The salads are delicious too as well as the fresh baked bread. The service is friendly though the line can be long. It's nice to sit out on the deck under the large tree.. And it looks like they just expanded inside to include more tables. Excellent pizza here... They have a huge wood fired oven that simply looks like it would turn out great pizza. Great looking pastry too, along with all the expected bakery goods, coffee, etc. We picked up a pizza to supplement the BBQ from Hubba Hubba... Yummm!!! I love Flat Rock Village Bakery. There's not a whole lot to eat in Flat Rock, but Village Bakery is hands down my favorite spot for a simple delicious meal or even just bakery. They've just got an amazing menu, their wood fire pizza is perfection. And they got a good selection of options. And the sandwiches are also really good. I just tried the Cheddar and Roast Beef melt and oh my gosh, SO GOOD! The bread was amazing, fresh but with a nice crunch to the crust and the roast beef wasn't like a slimmy processed lunch meat..more like a shaved steak, as it should be!! Witnessed a customer returning a pizza that was not gluten free and the manager said I will make you new ones and you can keep the other. My wife ordered the side of the day quinoa salad, no description. We were not told it had red peppers in it. Manager said it was her responsibility to ask if she is allergic and argued with me. He then said I'll give you a cookie. And walked away. Not professional not friendly and very accusatory. Manager on date 5/13/24 at 12 pm needs to have a lesson in customer service and respect. Great food. Issue is they don't check "to go" orders and about 1 in 5 (20%) orders have stuff missing or have the wrong things. I know that stat cuz I order regularly. Every time I forget to check there is an issue. They need a maker/checker system to get orders right all the time. I shouldn't have to check every time. read more

I'm so sad we didn't get pictures but we were ravenous after our hike and we wanted a little something to tide us over until dinner. Flat Rock Village Bakery came through in a major way. I got a half Turkey and avocado sandwich and a cup of chicken and wild rice soup and they were so delicious and fresh!!!! My husband got the half Italian hero (cold) and he loved it! We are only here visiting for another day but we have already made plans to come by before our drive home. Really fantastic pizza! Their outdoor seating is lovely and has really trees they've built their giant deck around. There's a small parking lot in the back. The pizza is thinner crust and I've tried the goat cheese, chicken pesto, margarita, and regular cheese pies. They are all perfectly cooked and have so much flavor. As a New York pizza snob, I have to give them their wood fire props! This is our go-to place whenever we come "north of the border".
