Everything here is made from scratch and you can taste and smell it. These are the best croissants I've ever had flaky, buttery perfection. The avocado toast was very savory, fresh and it had a hint of sweetness. If you're a lover of bacon, don't miss out on it! The coffee is top quality, the staff is super friendly, and the cozy vibe makes it the perfect stop. Don't forget to grab some pastries to go, you won't regret it, a total gem.

This is HALF of a breakfast croissant with thick sliced bacon, arugula, avocado, and tomato.

I live in Shelby, but I have to talk myself out of driving the hour to get breakfast here every single day! Their baked goods are otherworldly, and the breakfast croissants are big enough that you can cut it in half and have the most awesome lunch, too! Don't judge this place by the exterior, that is, unless you're admiring the old world wood fired stone oven that is visible from the back parking lot. I wanted to buy at least one of everything in the display case--and that is only breakfast! Lunch would be amazing here, too--and you can even snag a good beer there! This is the sort of place that your super granola-hippie friend that has really good taste when it comes to food would frequent in their new Range Rover and probably spend half their trust fund on--and it would be worth it!

Great local bakery in Flat Rock Village

Absolutely delicious! Wonderful sandwiches, pizza, baked treats and coffee. Had house blend of drip coffee, a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie, raspberry cookie and a delightful chicken salad Sammie on homemade ciabatta. Everything was tasty and homemade. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere!

Quaint bakery!! All fresh made items! Great outdoor seating area covered and uncovered. Friendly helpful staff. Pet friendly on the patio. Says roaming chickens but haven't seen them yet. I ordered a ham, egg and cheese sandwich with havarti cheese on sourdough bread, orange juice and a ham & cheese croissant to go. Ham & cheese croissant, soft, lite, butter and flaky!! My sandwich, well, let me just say I ate every bite!! Very family friendly!!

I stopped for lunch at the Flat Rock Village Bakery before a show at the Playhouse. I scored parking behind the bakery and didn't need to go to the lot to the side of the bakery. They sell day old products at a discount and have a bakery case to catch your attention. The menu is on a chalk board behind the case. I had been planning on a sandwich but the wood fired pizzas seemed to be what was hyped up so I went with that. Drinks are bottled or canned but they did have some unsweet tea that was really good. The pizza was doughy and needed to be eaten with a fork and knife rather than picked up by the slice. I'm not sure if mine wasn't cooked properly or if it is always like that. I had enough after three slices. I should have gone with the sandwich. I liked some of the pastries I bought though. Service was friendly. There wasn't much seating inside so it felt a little cramped. You do bus your own table.

Nestled in the back of The Wrinkled Egg in the heart of Flat Rock, this tiny spot is a MAJOR influence. Delicious breads ( the Orange scones are sublime and disappear quickly), soups, salads, sandwiches and each is delicious. Order at the counter, find a seat and your order is ready pronto. Nothing fancy; simple and excellent offerings. And then when you've finished, stroll into the adjoining Wrinkled Egg to take a look at all the unique gift ideas!

Peaches and cream Danish - the only thing I paused to take a picture of!

This was our last stop on vacation because we wanted to take a few pastries to go. We ordered breakfast and coffee, also. I had an Asiago pesto bagel with butter and a drip coffee. The coffee is great (counter culture), but they ran out of medium roast while we were there. The bagels were awesome! My husband had a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. Our to go items were a peaches and cream Danish (10/10, amazing and perfect), a cheddar and scallion scone (8.5/10 a very good, lots of scallions, balanced), and a chocolate croissant (also a 10/10). It's a very busy bakery, which is sometimes a bit overwhelming for me. It was definitely worth it for the yummy food, though. They have 50% off day old bread - we picked up a loaf of that mid-vacation to eat with leftovers. We appreciated the affordable baked goods and fast service.

You wouldn't have guessed it was a Monday morning by the substantial crowd at this bakery. It seemed the place to be in this town. They have a small interior and a multilevel deck outside. The fare includes baked goods and some fresh food to include pizza and salad. My salad was quite pleasant. I was glad for the option to order a half but it was still a decent size for the price and came with house croutons and vegetables that tasted fresh. My chai hit with a nice flavor, though it wore off a bit by the end. A lemon blueberry danish was apparently something you pick up at the register and is not sent to you like the other food if you dine in, but once I figured this out, I retrieved my danish. It was a robust flavor balance, though a little on the dry side and perhaps not the freshest item they had. They did have a vegan cookie and non-dairy milks for beverages; between the baked items and the salads you could do reasonably well. Still, there was plenty of quality here, and you'd be hard pressed to do better when looking for this sort of place.

Bakery is excellent We drive 6 hours and first stop into NC Food is good but not as good as sweet treats

Nice bakery in a friendly little town. I got the Turkey cranberry and a pecan tart. The pecan tart was slightly too sweet for my taste but still yummy. Turkey cran was delicious except for the spiciness of the mustard which I didn't think paired too well with the sandwich. Bread was baked very well though.

    Fresh pizza dining al fresco

Wow, amazing cafe in Flat Rock that was a perfect al fresco lunch stop during our adventures from Brevard, Sky Top Orchard , and nearby waterfall hiking. Fresh homemade bread, pizza, sandwiches, quiche, etc. Walk into the adorable shop, order at the counter, pay, find a table. Food is delivered to your table. Dog friendly patio, shaded under a huge tree. The veggie tarts, pizza, salad were all excellent. Genuine sourdough bread (no yeast) was brought home...literally back to Florida as a yummy souvenir! Open for lunch and parking is available behind the restaurant and shops.

Lovely spot to grab some baked goods or a sandwich. I like stopping in mid ride to grab some food and refreshments.

My husband & I biked the ecusta trail with our daughter and stopped by this spot on the way back. We got the smash burger but had to get it with gluten free bread since we can't have gluten, and it was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had! I absolutely love that they use no seed oils in this place. So tough to find! I was super excited to try the drinks with their house made flavors but they fell a bit flat for me. I got the strawberry basil matcha , and the matcha seemed watered down unfortunately. My husband got the toasted coconut latte and the drink fell flat for him as well. The atmosphere is beautiful & calm! Either way, we were happy to support local, go to a seed-oil free spot, and have drinks with housemade syrups! Could've just been a bad day for the barista. Looking forward to trying again!

I tried to go back this year, and am so appalled by the customer service (or lack thereof) that I will now give it 0 stars, so settled for two since I can't do two and a half. Yes, the food and ambiance were wonderful in 2025. I tried to book another afternoon tea party and called a month and a half in advance. This was to celebrate multiple birthdays with a group of busy moms so wanted to get it on the calendar. No one called me back despite the voicemail saying that we would hear back "promptly." I left two more messages in a span of two, three weeks and still nothing. I even emailed, no response. Finally, a friend stopped by in person and was told that the cafe would be short staffed the weekend we wanted the reservation for so the manager needs to see if there are enough people working before confirming. Okay....but why wouldn't you call back to tell me that? Our requested reservation is tomorrow and I still have not heard back from anyone. This is abysmal customer service. As mentioned, food was good but not good enough to treat potential customers like this. Hard pass from now on and will not go back or recommend. *Editing to respond to Victoria -- those were the dates I called and left voicemails. Perhaps there was a phone issue on your end, but I did not even get a missed call. My friend who stopped by in person spoke to a manager.
