I go out of my way to eat here every time I am anywhere within an hour of it on the weekends. The staff have a real passion to help however they can as they want to pay it forward with the help they are receiving on their journey to recovery. The food is out of this world with such large portions. I get the Drunken Monkey every time I go and am so glad with every bite as it is so fresh. Please note that their food is made fresh and the cost is only a recommendation since you give what you can but they only ask cash or check. There is a ATM around the corner but it's best to come with cash in the pocket as it's so worth it. So the next time you are anywhere near the area on the weekends and want a great breakfast you have to go but get there early as there may be a line since the service and food is that damn good. read more

The service here is always impeccable. All the servers are genuinely engaged with the customers while having fun when doing their job. Get the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes, they are so good. This brunch spot had been on my list forever and we finally made it in after a morning hike at OP Schnabel Park. Be forewarned, this place gets quite busy....actually very busy, so depending on the time of arrival, expect a long wait. I think we waited up to an hour. When we were finally seated, our server introduced himself and gave us a little story on the background of Comfort Cafe. Know that this is a cash only donation based restaurant- all proceeds go directly to their rehabilitation programs. Account for $15-$20 per person. Their menu was extensive- breakfast/brunch and lunch menus. I opted for the corned beef hash- nice poached egg atop corned beef potato hash, seasoned nicely and not overly salty. Maybe could have used a side toast and jelly. Hubby ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs and bacon- delicious! I absolutely love comfort cafe! This was my 5th time coming to enjoy the delicious food and drinks. Usually i'm in a sweet mood, but today I was craving something savory and saucy. The alfredo with all the veggies satisfied just that. My friend got the huevos ranchero and absolutely loved the unique flavors and tastes. The chicken in my pasta was incredibly juicy and flavorful and honestly think it's the best pasta i've had in town. The staff is always so incredibly sweet and helpful. First time at Comfort Cafe, you're welcomed into the establishment with a smile and it feels like you're going into a family-owned restaurant. Everyone at Comfort is super sweet, and my husband and I were blessed to be served by Johnston, one of the sweetest humans you'll ever meet. He has the most warming smiling! He answered all our questions and took his time to let us decide on the right dish. There's a huge selection to choose from, we were craving breakfast items and went with the chilaquiles (special of the day) and Crabby Bennys. The chilaquiles were okay, the green and red salsa were not spicy at all and needed more salt. The crabby bennys, were also okay. The coffee was okay, and you get constant refills. Now the churro French toast was an absolute delight!! So so good!!! Comfort is a place where people have turned their lives around for the better, a great charitable organization to support. Friendly tip, join the Yelp Waitlist in advance so that you get seated quicker! They take cash only and are a "pay what you feel" place. $15 is suggested per dish but not required. My eldest got the jalapeño popper omelette, which comes with choice of potatoes. She selected the cheesy casserole style potatoes. She said everything tasted so good - as evidenced by her empty plate lol. I got the breakfast special, which comes with 2 eggs (over easy), choice of potatoes (homestyle with peppers and onions), choice of meat (sausage) and toast. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage was juicy and delectable! My youngest got the Just for Kids, which comes with 1 egg, 1 chocolate chip pancake, and 1 meat. I asked if they could do a substitution of sorts cuz she doesn't like eggs. They let her have more bacon! We got the pancake flight so we could sample more. Everything was so yum! We have been here once and we love this place. Highly recommend getting there early and getting on the waitlist. They do move pretty quick and the food is definitely worth the wait. Just ate here with my family and daughter and not only do they have the most fluffiest pancakes but their friendly service just brightened my whole morning. Everything is delicious. I truly enjoyed the meal there and like they said before for those of you who have not been there, there are no menu prices. This place is usually very busy as I have only visited during breakfast/brunch times on the weekends so expect a large wait time like 35mins - 1 hour. I saw this restaurant on Yelp and the food looked so amazing that I was waiting for a table the following morning. The restaurant is busy and we had a wait time of an hour. They have a coffee shop located in the same plaza so we went there and sat down and had drinks while we waited. I will tell you, the wait was worth every second. The cafe's and coffee shop are a non-profit and they do not have prices listed next to anything. There is a footnote of consideration asking for a donation of at least $15-$20 at the restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic, the ambiance is joyful and has a sense of community. The people working here are in recovery, and during the week they're focused on their healing journey. They're only open on weekends for a reason. This was our first time at this location. I absolutely love what this place and group stands for. I have never had bad food or a bad experience here. This is a pay-what-you-can restaurant and all payments go to donations towards recovering addicts. I didn't get to try the coffee shop across the plaza but I will next time.
