Thank you!! It was delicious!!! We love coming here. Great service and food. We enjoyed it

I absolutely love comfort cafe! This was my 5th time coming to enjoy the delicious food and drinks. Usually i'm in a sweet mood, but today I was craving something savory and saucy. The alfredo with all the veggies satisfied just that. My friend got the huevos ranchero and absolutely loved the unique flavors and tastes. The chicken in my pasta was incredibly juicy and flavorful and honestly think it's the best pasta i've had in town. The staff is always so incredibly sweet and helpful. I love the pay what you can concept as it creates a welcoming and loving environment and supports those who may not be able to afford expensive meals. Can't recommend this place enough!!

It had been a while since I had been to this restaurant and I had forgotten how good it is. They have amazing food and it is a unique setup with a good cause. Give it a shot and you won't regret it!

This brunch spot had been on my list forever and we finally made it in after a morning hike at OP Schnabel Park. Be forewarned, this place gets quite busy....actually very busy, so depending on the time of arrival, expect a long wait. I think we waited up to an hour. When we were finally seated, our server introduced himself and gave us a little story on the background of Comfort Cafe. Know that this is a cash only donation based restaurant- all proceeds go directly to their rehabilitation programs. Account for $15-$20 per person. Their menu was extensive- breakfast/brunch and lunch menus. I opted for the corned beef hash- nice poached egg atop corned beef potato hash, seasoned nicely and not overly salty. Maybe could have used a side toast and jelly. Hubby ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs and bacon- delicious! Not one crumb left behind lol The restaurant was open, warm, and friendly. Everyone, including the servers seemed so happy to work there. Lots of Birthday celebrations were happening, many songs to be sung and candles to be blown out : )

Absolutely one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while! The story of this place is great! Had breakfast here this morning I had smoked salmon scrambled eggs with dill hollandaise sauce. My wife had lemon blueberry crepes. My grandson had churro crepes! The decor is great and the service was good! Only accepts cash. And it is a donation based payment. Recommend highly!

    What a great mission/purpose

Came here on 12.14.25 with my two girls. It was SO WORTH the wait! Between the food and the mission, everything was amazing! Friendly tip, join the Yelp Waitlist in advance so that you get seated quicker! They take cash only and are a "pay what you feel" place. $15 is suggested per dish but not required. My eldest got the jalapeño popper omelette, which comes with choice of potatoes. She selected the cheesy casserole style potatoes. She said everything tasted so good - as evidenced by her empty plate lol. I got the breakfast special, which comes with 2 eggs (over easy), choice of potatoes (homestyle with peppers and onions), choice of meat (sausage) and toast. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage was juicy and delectable! My youngest got the Just for Kids, which comes with 1 egg, 1 chocolate chip pancake, and 1 meat. I asked if they could do a substitution of sorts cuz she doesn't like eggs. They let her have more bacon! We got the pancake flight so we could sample more. Everything was so yum! Eldest loved the lemon ricotta blueberry. The brown sugar was my personal fav and the youngest loved the chocolate chip.

My dear AXO sister, Sallie, and sister in Christ and I celebrate each other's birthdays. Grateful for her. We had brunch @comfortcafesatx today. Such great food and even better cause. Sallie had the Lone Star, which was 3 scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown casserole, and swapped the pancake for raspberry crepe. I had the Blueberry Crepe (came with 2 in an order) and a side of crispy bacon. Maya was a great server. Everything was fabulous! We also stopped by @sweetserenitycoffeehouse to check out the new bakery. Very nicely decorated and welcoming. i bought Lemon Blueberry Scones for tomorrow's breakfast.

Had been wanting to try comfort Café for quite some time I'd heard that the lines were long at times so at this particular time that I went it wasn't a wait. my spouse ordered pancakes and I ordered an omelette. Everything is delicious. I truly enjoyed the meal there and like they said before for those of you who have not been there, there are no menu prices. It's all based on a gratuity that you fill is worth they suggest $15 an entree which I think is fair like I said I saw some of the other plates. the stuff French toast looked amazing and I will try that when I go back, the service was impeccable.

Daily Specials! I had the Tropical Salad

What an experience! Our waiter, John, was fantastic. I love supporting recovery too. We had the tropical salad (fresh pineapple chunks), lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes and my husband had corned beef hash (best he's ever had) scrambled eggs and potatoes. You do not want to miss this!

The food is delicious and appetizing presentation. The service is very uplifting and welcoming also very fast. This place is usually very busy as I have only visited during breakfast/brunch times on the weekends so expect a large wait time like 35mins - 1 hour. There is a check in IPad for in person only and not over the phone to get on the list. Everything is cash only and restrooms are non gender identified. There is no set price since this is a donation based restaurant to support people who are working to change their lives for better. The ambience is full of color, like a quirky old country home kinda vibe and very inclusive.

I've been wanting to try this place forever because I heard the food was amazing and wanted to support the worthy cause. My heart was so full waking up on Sunday morning and packing my kids into the car letting them know we were going someplace very special for breakfast. Line was short! Loved the hometown country vibe and decor when we arrived. Wait was only 10 minutes and was sat shortly after that. Pro tip! Take your time and don't be in a rush. Hear your servers story and enjoy the journey. Our wonderful server was Jon. He read off the specials and shared his mission and how finding the program has truly helped him and continues to be a light. Drinks were amazing! We ordered coffee which came in cute recycled mugs with cream and the table side fixings to doctor it up yourself. Our kiddos indulged in apple juice. Kiddos split the waffle special of the day with was short cakes themed with fresh strawberries. I kept eyeing the pancake stacks. That might be on the roster for next time! The blueberry compote looked divine! I had the crabby Benny which was the right amount of crabcake and hollandaise sauce. Get the dang cheesy hashbrowns! You won't regret it! Promise ;) Overall, 12/10! Enlightening and fulfilling in more than one way. Full bellies and full hearts leaving comfort cafe and supporting a great cause.

A true San Antonio and honestly Texas Gem! You cannot visit San Antonio and not go to Comfort Cafe! I took my friend here for brunch and we stayed until they closed, playing old school board games like Guess Who, eating, talking! The food -- 20/10!!! Can never go wrong! And the service is always as amazing as the food! You can tell they make it from the heart and it looks and tastes like it! Please if you're ever here, go and support them and enjoy a meal so good you won't forget it!

On the weekends, be sure to get on the waitlist via Yelp! Does get busy. While you are waiting can go across parking lot to their Sweet Serenity coffee shop. Cash only (ATM on prem). No prices marked, all donations. This restaurant helps folks who need it, the food is good, so win win. We usually tip really well. But big food portions, both breakfast and lunch options. Always well prepared. Always served by the nicest folks. Very clean, kinda loud, so bring the family. Eclectic decorations, every table different and different height, but bright and cheerful with lots of windows. In a strip mall so easy parking. Food prepared to order from scratch, so fresh and tasty. Omelettes made the correct way (eggs mixed not stuffed) and great brekkie potatoes. French toast served on cutting board ascetically pleasing but would be easier to eat off of a plate. Ask for the specials and seasonal menu. Recommend!

    Is a cash only business?

Yes, cash only. They do have an ATM in the restaurant.

30min if they are busy, and they are almost always busy. Such a good cause I don't mind the inconvenience. You can sit in your car cause they will text you.

How u check in or place a reservation?

Reservations are for 8 or more everyone else can walk in - the wait is not what it used to be at Los patios

How can I make a reservation for Thanksgiving?

You can get on los patios waitlist or if your a party of 8 or more you can make a reservation at either location on FB messenger or call

    Do you take reservations?

For parties of 8 or more yes

How can I get on the waitlist for Mothers Day at the Loop 410 location?

You will probably have to wait until Mother's Day. I don't see where there is a " Call ahead". Another option is call the cafe itself and ask.

Are there better times on weekends where the wait isn't that long?

Usually within the first hour of opening, you can get in fairly quick. After that, go through Yelp and join the waitlist ahead of time so when you get there, you only have a few minutes to wait after checking in. The location on Bandera seems to do… Read more

    Do they do takeout?

Yes but need to come in and order

How do I reserve a table? How much time in advance is needed for a reservation?

You don't reserve a table. I would either go first thing in the morning, get in line online, or just be prepared to wait because it gets packed quick.

Our veterinarian had originally quote us almost $1,000 just for the spay, which seemed a little over the top for such a common procedure. I went online and found Spay Neuter Network which is a nonprofit that provides affordable spay/neuter services for dogs and cats. Making the appointment online was super easy and I originally only had to pay $20 to secure my dog's appointment. On the day of the appointment my husband dropped him off at 7am and by 3:00pm he was ready to go home. At the end, we did end up paying about $100 more for some additional vaccinations that our dog needed prior to the procedure. It's been a week since the surgery and my dog is feeling great and we haven't had any issues. We did the latter and found that whenever we had questions there were plenty of docents who could happily provide detailed answers. There is also, for a fee, a museum on site with many artifacts from that time period. Many items were donated by avid Alamo collectors including musician Phil Collins and David Zucker (director of Airplane! and Naked Gun). A new museum is being constructed as of the date of this review. A gift shop is on site too as well as many statues throughout the grounds honoring those involved in the battle. Probandt is an old warehouse and the goods are presented in a commensurate fashion, making it kind of a dump to go to. BUT it is very large and they have a lot of items. The Walzam Rd location is smaller, more store-like and a lot cleaner. Selection is similar but my impression is of smaller quantities and more limited selection. They both carry a wide range of construction and household materials, whether reclaimed from remodels or demolitions, or closeouts, seconds and scratch-and-dent. They also have a lot of paints, much of which is "evolve", a brand that keeps excess project or returned paint from being senselessly dumped in landfills. Prices are better than the building materials stores, but you still need to know what a good price is, as some of the smaller household goods can be found for less elsewhere (mainly online). But bargains are to be found if you don't mind spending time browsing. I suggest coming prepared with a complete list of what you might need, so you come away with what you really want at a price that suits you. All of that said, remember that this is a thrift store for Habitat for Humanity, a very good organization that makes affordable housing available for low income people. So anything you buy supports a great cause. I would have rated this 3-stars, but the nature of what their main focus is caused me to make it 4-stars since the dollars you spend here contributes to helping people in need.
