    24th Street

We hosted our chapter dinner here on a Thursday evening and had planned to be seated in a private room. Unfortunately, when we arrived for our 6 p.m. reservation, we learned the restaurant was experiencing AC issues. As a result, we were seated in the main dining area alongside regular guests. With over 45 guests in our party alone, this made for a very hot and cramped setting. Still, we were excited to fellowship together and made the best of the situation. We had prepaid for the evening and selected entrées from a prix fixe menu. Service was impressive given the circumstances. The bartenders moved quickly, and our server Moe was friendly, attentive, and full of personality. I started with a cocktail, the 24th Street, which was not only stunning in presentation but also delicious with just the right amount of kick. So good, I had three! Dinner began with a house salad featuring a light, flavorful vinaigrette, perfect to wake up the palate. For my entrée, I chose the steak frites (medium well). It was just okay. The steak was tougher than I prefer, and not having a steak knife didn't help. The peppercorn sauce, however, was excellent. The Parmesan fries were underwhelming, with only a light dusting of cheese, fine, but nothing special. We shared two family-style sides: mac and cheese and collard greens. The greens tasted canned. Not terrible, but definitely not homemade (no grandmas in that kitchen, lol). The mac and cheese, though, was flavorful and creamy, we even asked for seconds! I also treated myself to the steak and cheese egg rolls after seeing them at another table. They were a hit: crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Food took a while to come out, but with such a large party and regular walk-ins still being served, the delay was understandable. We ended the night with karaoke, laughter, and great conversation. Despite the hiccups, it turned out to be a wonderful evening filled with sisterhood and fun. I'd return.

    Grilled Rosemary Lamb Chops

Wonderful vibe and lovely decor. We came out to celebrate a birthday and love to dine at black owned businesses. For food we started with the Buffalo shrimp, corn bread and mussels. The shrimp were a tad salty but flavorful, the cornbread while delicious had a strong rosemary taste that could be overpowering and the mussel broth was delicious that we sopped it up with the bread. For mains we ordered lamb x2, ribeye, blacken salmon, branzino. All mains were a hit, but let me tell you if you love seafood do yourself a favor and have the branzino. The branzino was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and the chimichurri was delicious. Also get some Brussels sprouts and you won't regret it. The side was well balanced and the balsamic paired nicely with the roasted vegetable. As we were celebrating a birthday a choice of cheesecake or chocolate cake was offered. Our celebrant chose the creme brulee cheesecake, but it was not a hit possibly try the chocolate or the peach cobbler bread pudding. I took off one star for the slow service and the odd billing practices. They require a $20pp deposit that's credited to your final bill and a 10% service charge with the expectation to also tip an additional 20% for poor service (long waits between courses, empty water glasses, dropping off food with no serving utensils etc) I would go back because I love the concept, food and vibes, but possibly more for carryout than dining in.

    Vegan Mushroom Pepper Steak

There for a friend's birthday dinner, room wasn't ready when we arrived so we waited at the bar. Bartender was new and a little forgetful, but he made good drinks. The drinks were like $16+, a bit pricey in my opinion. I was excited to try the vegan mushroom pepper steak, was a bit disappointed. The fried rice and sauce was overly salted, but the mushrooms and peppers were seasoned just right. Had to send it back due to the saltiness, our server Mo did great with our large party. He offered me something else, which I wasn't expecting. Got the salmon and brown rice, which was seasoned much better and not overly salted. The spot was cute, has an outdoor space and a cute private room. If I do return it'll probably be for happy hour, cuz those drink prices are wild. 4 drinks was over $80!!

Van with employee yelling expletives at pedestrians
    Erik R.

Had two lovely experiences with the catering side of this restaurant around 2pm today near Union Market. First, the van was blocking a crosswalk over 5th street, forcing pedestrians into the street. Then, around 2:05, the van stopped on the sidewalk on 6th. While stopped, the driver told me she didn't care and the passenger yelled "walk faster" and "f*** your mother" before the van turned onto the road. Insane behavior, do not use them unless you want actively aggressive people showing up

This black owned business is a gem! I've been wanting to come here for a while. And I finally found the opportunity to go! We sat at the bar, as it was happy hour and they had PLENTY of delicious selections. I ordered the rosemary cornbread, curry mussels, charbroiled oysters (they were a bit small), and jerk salmon bites! Everything was delicious. EVERYTHING! Service was a bit slow as it was a very busy night for them. (It was a holiday). However, it happened to be karaoke night (we had no idea); so it made the wait more bearable. This place gets pretty busy quick, so I suggest arriving early or making a reservation. The bartender was keeping up with the demand fairly well. Thank Christina! The restaurant offers dining room, bar, and patio seating. It's not the largest restaurant, but wherever you sit, will be a good spot for the energy that this restaurant brings!

The food was phenomenal, per usual! We had a lovely dining experience. The lamb chops were seared to med rare perfection and the flavor was bold, garlicky, with a hint of sweetness. So delicious! The chargrilled oysters are a fav! So much flavor! The ribeye was huge and cooked well with delicious flavor. The Vegan jerk tacos, the buffalo shrimp, the branzino... the branzino was whole and buttery pieces of flavor melted in our mouths. The ambiance was smooth jazz on a Friday night. We will forever come back!

We had a reservation for 730p.... Initially they made us sit outside (it was 57 degrees out) they eventually let us sit by the bar to wait. The hostess outside was less than friendly and barely wanted to let us in. We finally got seated at 830. We didn't get water until 845 and didn't order until almost 9p. As we were ordering we were told it would be at least a hour for food so we were forced to order apps unless we wanted to wait all night. The waitress kept mentioning they were short staffed, I didn't have sympathy since we placed reservations last week and they were operating on a limited menu. I would imagine they had the ability to see how many reservations they had on top of the fact an org was running a fundraiser, poor planning is not the customer's issue. Over the course of 40mins our food arrived. The lobster bites were good, cooked in fish fry and a little salty but good. The jerk wings are good and they have a kick. The oysters looked good, the Caesar salad was typical. The stuffed chicken had a great taste. They ran out of Brussels spouts and the macaroni was very runny for us but looked firm at another table basically inconsistent. It also just didn't taste good. We asked for broccolini in place of the Brussel sprouts... it was basically drenched in butter and garlic and ran across the stove. Don't waste your time on the honey rosemary croissant either. This place has promise but clearly struggles with crowds. It's very nice inside and the music was good, not too loud. I would give them another shot right at opening, I was too frustrated to eat.

3 Deep-Fried Deviled Eggs Saturday and Sunday Brunch
    Christine R.

This place reminds me of the song 'Don't Believe the Hype'. This place is definitely overrated, especially the brunch. Maybe Dinner will be better but sorry Brunch is not whats happening here. We started with the Mimosas where you had to order the bottle then get Orange or Pineapple juice on the side. They charge you $35 and bring out the cheapest $5 bottle of Wycliff Champagne but tell you there is an option to upgrade for an additional charge When the food came out it was not eye catching at all. The presentation of the food was just that - the food on the plate with no thought put into it. It wasn't prepared the way we ordered it but I was not surprised. I can go on and on about the soggy fried devil eggs or the dry peach cobbler bread pudding. One positive note is they played nice music The guy that brought the food to the table did not speak English nor did he understand what we were saying. The waitress was busy running around she may have came to our table once. They add the gratuities to the bill but at this point I didn't care I was just ready to go. Would I come back? Definitely not for Brunch.

Flavorture is good date night spot. My guest and I sat at the bar. In addition to the food we had drinks too. My friend ordered from the prefixed menu. I thought the service was pretty good. I felt like that server could have been more attentive, but we still enjoyed our meal.

Made a reservation for 2 on 6/30 for brunch. You are required to put down a $20/pp deposit when reserving your table but it counts towards your bill. Located just two blocks down from the zoo parking is sparse but on a Sunday street parking was available a block over from the restaurant. Upon walking up on Flavorture, it's not clear where the entrance is based on the layout but the front door is located under an awning to the left. When walking in you're greeted by a DJ to the immediate left and the bar but it wasn't clear where the hostess station was or where to check in. I walked past the DJ table and the bar before I was greeted by a hostess (maybe ?)who said she'd help me. Not sure where to go, I went back to the front to wait before I was seated by my waitress Kiera. I had: Deep fried deviled eggs - 6/10 - the salmon one was my favorite, the others lacked flavor and the deep fry didn't do anything for the texture. Chicken and waffles - 8/10 - the flavor was solid and the chicken was well fried. The waffle was fluffy and even reheated well in the microwave when I went for my leftovers. The music was great and our waitress was very attentive and the wait time wasn't long which was a plus. My friend had the oysters and crab cake Benedict and didn't have any complaints.

Visited Flavorture for the first time today and they did not disappoint. Service was excellent from start to finish. Our server Motoma was very personable and made sure we got what we expected out of the experience. The food was delicious.. we started with the jerk wings which were sooooooo good and freshly made. My boyfriend got the Woodley Park breakfast platter which had a very good portion size and everything was tasty. I ordered the shrimp and grits, I was not disappointed one bit. The shrimp were huge and freshly made, the grits were perfectly cooked. The entire dish was a 10 out of 10. If you're looking for a good vibe and good food at an establishment that isn't too rowdy I'd highly recommend Flavorture. Thank you all for such a good experience!

My cousin was in town and I decided to check out Flavorture. This restaurant has been on my list for a while now and I'm just happy I finally made it. We went on a Friday night around 7pm and I didn't make reservations. We only had a party of 2 so it was easier to get seated, my cousin was seated immediately and I met her a half hour later. Parking in that area is always difficult so keep that in mind. The waiter was amazing! He was SUPER attentive and made really good suggestions! My cousin ordered a couple mocktails and the jerk jackfruit tacos. She said it was delicious! I ordered the charbroiled oysters and it was ok. I love oysters, but I've had better, it just didn't get me a wow factor. Maybe it was overcooked. I ordered the pork chops and my cousin ordered the coconut curry Tofu. She was very happy that the menu was very vegan friendly and she could order with ease. We also had the roasted balsamic Brussels sprouts and the mashed potatoes. My meal was delicious she very well seasoned. I ordered a Lychee martini with gin and babbbbyyy they did an amazing job! I ordered another! The ambiance was definitely a little darker and gave a nighttime mood. We saw a lot of dates and it started to get busy later on. It was very clean and decorated well. Overall, I had a great experience and I would absolutely return!

After a long day walking around the National Mall, we popped into Old Ebbitt Grill for dinner and…read moreabsolutely loved the experience. We didn't have reservations, so the wait for 2 around 5:30 on a Wednesday night was about an hour, but we decided to grab seats at the bar instead and got full service almost immediately. Huge shoutout to Matt, our bartender, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Service overall was exceptional from start to finish. We started with the fried calamari and beet salad, which were both excellent and a perfect way to kick off the meal. For entrees, we had the steak frites and the New York strip with potatoes au gratin, plus a couple draft beers to wash it all down. Everything was fantastic, and the portion sizes were very generous. The building itself is part of the experience. It feels historic and full of character, with multiple dining rooms and four different bars that each had their own slightly different ambiance while still keeping that classic historic pub vibe. For a full dinner with appetizers, drinks, and entrees, expect around $100 per person -- but honestly, the quality, atmosphere, and service made it feel well worth it. Definitely a spot I'd come back to anytime I'm in DC.

Went there for a quick lunch before catching the Amtrak. The restaurant, opened in 1850s was said…read moreto be the oldest dining salon in Washington DC. The vibe confirms this: huge dining rooms, huge bar areas, gorgeous decors, and numerous newspapers etc. about the events that happened there. Of course, the restaurant was packed with tourists, but due to its size it was not difficult to reserve a seat just 2 days before. For food I got the Hot Roast Beef sandwich no sauce and sub side with asparagus. The dish came out slowly perhaps because there were too many people (? So I had to devour it in just 10min... The sandwich was stuffed with tons of roast beef, as well as some melted Gruyère cheese and cherry pepper relish. The beef was kind of dry to me; I wish I could get a side of jus to dip in. The relish was fantastic: spicy and a bit sweet and sour. I also liked the asparagus which was topped with parmesan and pine nuts. The staff acted warm and welcoming but I felt that they were mostly just reciting the scripts. Still, because of its history, food and location, I recommend you to try this restaurant when visiting DC!
