I've never actually been in here because it's well out of my stomping grounds but they've been brought into my office a few times and they are EPIC. They have this pastry that has strawberry filling and glaze and it's amazing. I have been here several times. The cookies are really good. But very expensive. I wanted to get a cake here, but they were in plastic containers. I don't think that they were even made here. I live about 15 miles away from Fleckenstein's Bakery. Not really that far but I have a couple of closer bakeries. Lately, I have been disappointed with the bakery I usually go to. Things do not seem fresh. I had heard good things about Fleckenstein's and I saw on their website that they make Dutch apple pies, so I called and requested that they hold one for me. When I arrived it seemed like my pie was the only one left and it was still hot. It was for my son's birthday dessert, he is not a cake fan. It was delicious. After having it, my husband declared it the best Dutch apple pie he had ever had and we all agreed. I look forward to going back and trying some of their other products. If you are interested in trying this place out - you either need to get their early or call and reserve what you want. I picked my pie up around 10:45 or 11am on a Thursday and the place was out of donuts. read more

The absolute BEST buttercream frosting ever!!! If they sold it by the tub, I would buy it and eat it!! Oh yeah.....and the cakes UNDER the frosting Rock too! We ordered our wedding cake from Fleckenstein's and Mr. Fleckenstein himself worked with us. He was so helpful and pleasant all the way through the process, explaining options and the timeline. He took pictures I brought in and created a gorgeous cake that tasted unbelievable. Their buttercream frosting is beyond compare. He even was able to create orange flavored frosting for the groom's red velvet cupcakes, which was something I didn't know was possible. The guests raved about everything and even though we ordered a lot of extra cake just to be safe, there wasn't much left over because it was all eaten or taken home. Surprising I've never yelped this bakery since we live very close! Stopped on the way out of town last week for an on the road treat, seriously best pastries ever! We get pie from here every holiday and birthdays in between but donuts are a once in a while treat!!! I LOVE the vanilla frosted cake donut, get at least two because one is not enough! I should not tell you this but on Thursday's they make a apple dumpling pastry that is so good I buy them 4 of them and keep them in the fridge for the rest of the week. They are very good. Customer service is first and foremost in any business. Every experience here has been awesome to say the least. I recently had to cancel an order due to my pregnant wife being sick and they were warm and understanding. I know it was an inconvenience for them and I would have paid if they asked. That was the last thing they were concerned about. Very nice and understanding girl on the phone. Completely understood and cancelled my order. I can never go in the bakery without buying multiple things and now you are guaranteed my business forever! Compassion and understanding goes a long way. I remember as a kid, you weren't cool unless you had a Fleckenstein's Bakery cake at your birthday party. Even now, I know a lot of people that still go to Fleckenstein's for their goodies for their events. They have the best doughnuts that I have ever had. Also, their homemade candy is pretty good too if you ever get a chance to try it. I would also recommend their giant sugar cookies with icing. They are usually themed (i.e. bowling pins, Cubs, hearts, shamrocks, etc). I think the price is reasonable for the quality they produce...which is amazing! read more

Cupcakes, cuppie-cakes yum yum yum! The price is right to grab a bunch to share with friends. They are known for their Red Velvet but the Turtle and the Duble Chocolate were great too. 3/3/2012 Thank you - Saturday 3/3/2012 may daughter and I were in your bakery and placed an order for a Baby Shower Cake. The owner (older gentlemen) comes out from the back and Greets us with a friendly smile and ask what kind of cake were we interested in ordering. My daughter proceeds to explain her cake ideas and the gentlemen listens with all interest, and then makes several suggestions. We then knew this gentlemen really cared about his customer. With his suggestions and the suggestions of his cake designer they came up with a Baby Shower Cake that I know will be picture perfect. Thank you The staff in the bakery also could not be more helpful..... they offered coffee and we purchased a box of cookies, eating the scrumptious cookies while ordering our cake was a very pleasant experience. I will drive from Orland Park to Mokena any day to visit a bakery that cares about there customers. read more

Had a terrible experience in the bakery. I came at a non-busy time to order some signature cupcakes for my son's birthday party. I already knew exactly what I wanted because I picked it out on their out-dated website. The crabby woman behind the counter rolled her eyes at me countless times, cut me off when speaking and rushed me out of there. At one point, I said, "Gee it sounds like you really don't want to sell me any cupcakes. Are they terrible or something?" She straightened up her attitude after that. Turns out that the cupcakes were very small and pretty average. At $1.79 per cupcake, the out-of-the-box cupcakes taste just as good. What a waste of money. read more

I was excited to stop here after all these good reviews to purchase a cupcake for my grandma's birthday. Unfortunately although the items we got from there are good it is not worth the frustration of dealing with how the store is run. I walked in and took a number and proceeding to walk around and look at the goods. I selected my items and asked why my number hadn't been called yet and was informed that they don't use it and I needed to get in line. Unfortunately at this point there was a woman in front of me that I had arrived before who proceeded to take ALL of their vanilla cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes, and pumpkin cupcakes. I asked if they had more of any of those and they informed me they did not except for ones that say Cubs on it. Not quite appropriate for my Grandma's birthday. When I complained about them not using their number system and that they should take it down I got brushed off like it was no big deal. Crappy customer service!!! Also we were VERY disappointed with the size of everything, the cupcakes and cookies were NOWHERE near as big as a normal bakery. read more

They have messed up my orders twice! Once I asked for cream cheese and strawberry filling for my daughters birthday cake and they did half of my cake with strawberries and the other cream cheese. I was upset when I sliced and only saw strawberries and than my husband sliced from the other side and only saw cream cheese. Another time there was a confusion about for how many the cake I was going to order would be and they ended up give me a full sheet of cake. My husband picked it up and had no idea I had not ordered a cake that big. BUT even with those two messed up orders the cakes were delicious and my family and friends love them. I would not go anywhere else for my kids birthday cakes. Their cupcakes are delicious and I had some cherry tarts the other day that were my gosh so so good! Doughnuts are pretty good but I think their jelly filled and Bavarian filled doughnuts are too sweet. Girls in the morning rush after 5am are fabulous! Friendly and fast service. Coffee to go is good too. Sometimes I go in just for that in the mornings instead of gas station coffee that is not that great. read more
