I sat in that sock box for long enough to ponder why I still wasn't being helped, then proceed to distract myself with productivity from the wait by paying my mortgage, car note, insurance, pg&e, SMUD, city utilities, county utilities, 2 credit cards, and house cleaning before anybody who worked there even bothered to speak. I even had time to make light of the experience to the group chat. What'd the woman with the most recent lex Luthor's face say? Love Fleet Feet! It's the best place to purchase sneakers bc they truly figure out what works for your feet. Talk about a personalized fit. I came here due my first pair of Hokas which I bought for work. I'm a nurse so a good pair of shoes is essential - gotta take care if my feet. Once the sales person helped me figure our which shoes would work best for my particular issues I chose my perfect pair. Then he also introduced me to inserts. Amazing. I felt so light and free when I wore my new shoes to work and raved about how great Fleet Feet is that at least 6 people went there for their new Hokas! I also enjoy their active wear. There's always a nice selection of Vuori joggers and sweatshirts along with Rabbit brand shorts and tops. They have great sales too! My plethora of skies were all held together with shoe go, dirt , and grime held the fabric together on one I walked 30 minutes from my hotel. I got in the cue. I love how they don't allow a free for all there. I got on their electronic list. Was told it was about an hour ( Saturday ) I left. Kept walking. Got a 10 minute estimate to being next. I walked in the front door. And I was next. A quick measure if my foot. The sales person brought out three pairs. All three fit fantastic I bought all three pairs. I was placed on a waitlist when I first walked in, but was never seen by a Fleet Feet expert for an assessment to buy shoes. I ended up walking the store and found one of the two things I was advised to purchase. After seeing my PCP, he had recommended me to come in and to purchase Hoka's shoes for working out and Oofoo slippers for indoor. They have a pretty good variety of running shoes and apparel for both men and women. Pricey tho. Fleet Feet is not just for runners! I went to Fleet feet for the first time over a year ago to get fitted. They have a state of the art system where they make a computer model of your foot that shows you size, Arch, etc. They can also determine your walking pattern with the computer sensor pad. I am actually not a runner. I came here after an injury had me going back-and-forth with podiatrist and custom insoles I did not fit. The first time I was fitted and recommended shoes that were lifesaver! I came back today to be fitted again since it has been well over a year, and I needed to replace my insoles. I was a walk in, but appointments are available and I would recommend them if you can plan ahead. Jeff helped me and was so thorough and patient! My situation is a little different, and he took the time to listen to the details and get all my measurements. Even though I ended up replacing the brand of insoles I already had, he gave me some other options to look at and think about. The staff here is very knowledgeable and friendly. On June 8th I sent Dad into Fleet Feet to return shoes that did not fit. He had owned them for 30 Days... After explaining the problem, Walker, a sales guy, found a new pair of shoes. The first new pair he tried on Fit him perfectly! They took the old pair of shoes and replaced them with 2 new pair.. no charge..  under their  "60 day Warranty" . no questions asked. What a company! This used to be such a great store. But I was incredibly disappointed with my most recent experience. I started looking for new shoes in fall, 2023. I have painful bunion, so I knew that I needed to switch from my Brooks ghost to some thing more supportive and with a wider toebox. My foot scan at the store showed that I was a B with on my left foot and an A on my right foot. I probably interacted with 6 different people at the store over the course of several months. I had a hard time finding a pair of shoes that worked on both feet. I finally "settled" on the Brooks glycerin even though they weren't completely comfortable on the left foot. NO ONE mentioned that I had the option to purchase a mixed size pair. Never. Now, it's June 2024. My podiatrist told me I must wear a wide width on my left foot. And now I learned that Fleet Feet does sell mixed size pairs. But I just paid a fortune for a new pair of Brooks glycerin shoes. I'm stuck with them for a year until I have the budget for a new pair. I will not be getting them from this store. And I will no longer tell people what a great store this is. I know you don't care, but you have lost a customer. read more

Great COVID safety measures, including appointments outdoor fittings Phenomenal customer service! I worked with *Diane* on my first visit, and as a newcomer to modern shoe fitting techniques - she was beyond helpful. There was a shoe I wanted to try that wasn't in stock, and she made sure everything was put on hold so I could come back to try on the new arrival before making my decision. *Katie* helped me out on that second visit and made sure I left the shop with everything I wanted and needed. Having my feet and steps scanned was an incredible experience that will, I believe, forever change my life. The only downsides to shoe shopping are the insane markup that is added to the cost of footwear, no matter where one shops, and shoe companies that are less than transparent about their supply chain and materials. Fleet Feet also offers a great selection of running shoes, hydration equipment, energy Bloks and Gu and such, clothing, dog jogging stuff, super expensive race bib magnets ($25!), running classes, excellent customer service and more! I recently starting running, but I've done distance walking (marathon & a half), so I know proper shoe fit would be key. While there can be great price deals online, you need to know what you should be wearing. And you can't try shoes on over Wi-Fi. Haha! Here they'll watch your gait, have you stand on a high-tech foot analyzer (no cost), and they'll slip on & lace-up the magic slippers for you! Yes, running shoes are expen$ive. And they're outrageously BRIGHTLY colored. But you are paying for quality and technology. Every ounce of your body is carried by your feet. You owe it to your body and health to be properly fitted with good shoes. They may cost $140 or possibly more. But your quality of life and longevity depend on it! I came initially to learn about "zero drop" shoes and see what options might work for my feet. Kale walked me through everything I asked to understand. I picked his brain A LOT. He was very informative and didn't seem bothered by me at all. And after my second visit, today he helped me pick out the perfect shoes for me! And they're "supa fast!" Above and beyond service! First time visiting this location and it was packed on a Saturday but that didn't stop exceptional service. As a walk-in customer, we were assisted right as we checked in. Hailey was our store expert. She was very welcoming to all our inquiries and her expertise helped us find the right fitting shoes. The store does have a very limited selection of special sizes but they're able to help you purchase online while in store. They are also not very pushy for sales. If you're a POC it's better if you just don't go in here at all. Not inclusive at all, you get 'those' type of vibes, and you're treated like they just want to get you in and out (and not in a good way). This team is completely useless and incompetent. They're quite literally only capable of selling the shoes they have in store. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have to do an online order through this store, just leave. Even the manager, Chris, doesn't know how to work any of the online systems and doesn't offer up any solutions. Also the team is more focused on making snippy comments like "oh you (Chris) left for lunch and this happened". Like we're inconveniencing them when it's LITERALLY their job to help us. It also super unprofessional and creepy how some of them just LINGERED around, like they wanted a piece of the drama instead of trying to help, yikes. We made an appointment months in advance. We were immediately greeted the moment we stepped foot inside. Ethan was helping us. He wanted to know a little background and the reason I was there. So he had me partake in some scans that somehow 3-D printed my feet onto his iPad. I struggle with knowing which shoe to buy, and he seemed to know spot on what I needed. He brought out 4 boxes for me to try on. The first pair, I did not want to take off, my sister convinced me to try the second pair on, which I walked out of the store with!! There are no nonwhite employees or POC that work at this location. The answers are always curt, sometimes confrontational and I feel like I'm intruding on a wedding reception I haven't been invited to and my presence and business is merely tolerated. Fleet Feet is a little ways away from where I live (EG), so I don't make my way out here too often. Especially when there use to be several sporting goods locations like Sports Chalet or Sports Authority a lot closer for my training needs. But I've always known that Fleet Feet has had a great selection of training apparel and recovery items, so they've always been on the radar if I couldn't find something somewhere else. But several of my more recent races (Giants Race Sacramento & Tough Mudder Sacramento), had been in this location for various reasons. For the Giants Race it was to just pickup my race packet, but for Tough Mudder it was to restock on hydration and training supplements. While also looking at possible arm sleeves, compression socks, and maybe even some muscle recovery equipment. One thing I did like about Fleet Feet, was there hydration station at the front door where you could get small cups of electrolyte drinks. And also that they were dog friendly, as a couple came in with two young Huskies. That makes me feel like I don't have to avoid shopping here, if I'm out with my dog, and had wanted to stop in to check out the latest gear. I was able to find what I needed and even came across an recovery roller that I'd only seen online before, and was able to use their demo version. And after ordered it to be delivered to the store, as they were currently out of stock since it's a really popular tool right now. read more

I needed a pair of jogging shoes and heard Fleet Feet is the BEST running shoe store in the Greater Sacramento Area. My sources were 100% correct. Upon entering, the shoe store was much larger than I anticipated with a massive selection of the newest running shoes, clothing, accessories (drinking bottles/running belts) and nutritional items (bars/gels). I waited 2 minutes after writing my name down for assistance and was warmly greeted by a sales associate. The sales associate felt like a personalized shoe consultant! She measured my feet both sitting down and standing up. She had me walk and squat to understand how I naturally walked. She found out that I had slightly wide feet so she brought out shoes depending on my size and the feedback of each shoe. She even had me try on socks that are properly made for running and sweat management. She took time addressing all my questions and showed me how to tie my shoes to reduce my back heel from moving away from the shoe. The prices were remarkably competitive. First, a little about me so you know my consumer profile and why it's a factor in this situation. About me: 48 yo, college educated, 26 year IT Professional, father of two high-schoolers, eldest brother of 3.. and friend to many. Oh, and I happen to be African American--(aka a BLACK consumer). Sometimes, being an African American while shopping will trump everything else about my humanity and existence. Fleet Feet employees unfortunately saw my and my daughter's skin color and decided that our skin color had little worth, value and respect as consumers. Upon my daughter and me entering the store on 3/21/21, we were intercepted by a male Feet Fleet employee who looked shocked that my brown skin daughter and I walked into the Fleet Feet store: I greeted the Fleet Feet employee with a Hello.... and he responded with a "What do you need?"... I was a bit bothered by that greeting but quickly leaned into my and my daughter's "New Running Shoe" excitement--and replied that I was looking for women and men's Hoka - Mach 4 running shoes. The Fleet Feet employee, visually bothered by our presence, informed us that the wait was very long and that there were 4 other people in front of us: I replied that it was ok.. and that we could wait..(a reasonable amount of time)-- he asked my name... scribble it down.. and looked at me: My sensing his curt attitude, I looked past his annoyed gaze and scanned a wall of shoes--searching for Hoka brands. I asked can you point me in the direction of the Hoka - Mach 4. The Fleet Feet employee responded that he doesn't think they are on the wall--turned and walk away. The energy exchange from the employee to my daughter and me was off-putting so I was eager to disengage. As the Fleet Feet employee turned and walked away--I naturally turned and walked toward the wall of shoes with my daughter following my footsteps. My daughter's eyes--glowing and dancing as she looks at a rainbow wall of shoes: I pull and place a half a dozen colorful running shoes from the wall for her to admire or quickly reject. As we circle about the store, we notice the royal treatment of Caucasian consumers--comfortably seated and catered to--literally "hand and foot". "How do those feel sir?"... "Oh, let me get you a different size ma'am".... "Here, try these on, sir... I think you'll like these"... on and on.. as my and my daughter's brown-skin existence is ignored and invisible for 30 minutes... not once did anyone say to us "We'll be right with you!"... "sorry for the delay sir.. we're so busy today!" (which they weren't that busy".... or better yet "Ma'am.. try these on and while you do.. I'm going to help this patient customer over here" (i.e. my daughter and me). As my and my daughter's brown-skin bodies wandered about the store, unacknowledged--low and behold--two more brown-skin bodies walk through the front door. The woman looked to be about my age (late 40s) accompanied by another woman in what looked to be early 30s. Well kept, attractive, professional looking African American women looking for running shoes. My eyes fixate on them and the staff simultaneously. Instinctively, I knew at that moment when I saw the black women go unacknowledged by the Fleet Feet staff members for 5 minutes: "Fleet Feet did not want, respect, acknowledge or appreciate Black Consumers, African Americans, Black People." It's now 35 minutes into our horrible experience: I look over to my now frustrated daughter and asked "Do you want to just by them online?"....& my daughter responds "Yes"... and then I realized, wait.. how about we try REI? Daughter's frustration instantly turns into excitement once again: she responds "YESSS!!" My daughter and I walk toward the front door, I look over to the cashiers who are staring at us walk out & I bellow "500 dollars walking out the door!".... the two African American women are now standing outside of the store--still unacknowledged--looking puzzled by their experience: I look at them... acknowledge them... and advise them to take their purchasing power elsewhere because Fleet Feet SUCKS! My daughter and I drove to REI.. had the best customer service experience there and will buy all of our high-end running shoes from REI from now on and will Never--Ever--Ever step foot in another Fleet Feet store again. This was a teachable moment for me as a father to my teenage children--educating them on what they might experience when they are labeled "Black, While Shopping" by some ignorant and racist employees. In this case: Fleet Feet employees. Took this horrible situation that happened at Fleet Feet on 3/21/21, to educate my teenage children that they have purchasing power... a voice.. value.. dignity.. respect.. self worth.. and the exact same privileges that the Caucasian Fleet Feet coddled customers have. We received all of that at REI and I will tell everyone I know to shop there instead of Fleet Feet. This Fleet Feet experience will live on to influence. read more
