I like this location. DSW is filled with various types of shoes and accessories for everyone. At this location, you enter and then you ride the escalator to the store. The upper level is huge. You are greeted with the people working the counter. You turn right and there's quite some shoes to look at with rows and rows of different types of footwear. I like the accessories section too. There's cool bags, wallets and keychains to browse. I also love the back of the store where there's a selection of shoes and accessories on sale. I often buy something from this part of the store. I also tend to buy something near the displays by the checkout counter. I like the rewards and how you can get freebies sometimes. I've come to this store at least five times and every other visit it is an unpleasant experience. I've held off from yelping due to handful of times where I received "decent" service and were greeted. But You've got to do better and hire individuals with a pleasant attitude and a mediocre of customer service. First time here and was picking up my online order to store pick up. It's cool to see escalators when you first walk in. Takes you up to the second level where you get hit with the nostalgic brand new shoe smell. I was greeted immediately and nicely by the front register employee. She was also the one who helped me shortly after. I arrived a little early, but she still helped me and genuinely went to go pick my order for me. I was so appreciative of that gesture. Wow. Terrible customer service. I am a regular customer and brought back a pair of boots 4 months after purchasing (it's original box and receipt!) The boots had been lightly worn around the house (as you are supposed to do!) and didn't feel right. I went to return assuming it would be for store credit since it was past 60 days. They outright refused saying it had been too long and told me I could "donate" the shoes through the store, which really feels like a racket. My mother had eyes on a specific Nike shoe that DSW carried at a good price, so I ventured out to this store to make the purchase for her. I found the shoe she wanted but noticed a sticker on the box that read "ask associate for the right shoe" then went straight to checkout. I stood in the front where I met with the cashier -- I greeted her and she replied, "I'll be with you in a minute." As I waited for this employee to get situated, she stared at me to cue that she was ready. I asked, "Can I get the right shoe?" She responds, "What?" I repeated myself again, asking for the right shoe to the box I presented in front of her in which she replied, "So, what are we doing here? What's going on? Are we trying to make a purchase or what?" I was taken aback because: (1) she didn't greet me at all and (2) what do you think is happening here if a customer comes to you with a shoe box, asking for the other shoe at checkout? Is this not common sense that I wanted to make a purchase? At this point, I'm baffled by how unfriendly and awfully rude this associate is and had to clarify that I am making a purchase, hence asking to complete the pair of shoes. She ends the transaction off by giving me my receipt and pushing the shoe box towards me, no bag included. Right when I walked into this location I thought it was nothing but women shoes here, because I came here with my family. The good news was that they did offer men shoes, and the bad news was that their men section was about 5% of the store (Haha). I was surprised that they did offer men shoes here, but it would have been nice if they offered a wider selection for men. But I can see why their selection is so low with men, because not that many men go to this store, because like me they don't know that DSW offers men shoes as well. (Maybe they can work more on advertising towards their men customers to help with that demographic) Prices here are okay, and about average compared to their competition. They do have a clearance area where they offer additional percentage off of their already marked down prices that come to their customer's advantage. But I noticed that when it came to the super low priced and high savings selected shoes, they were the type that no one would really wear. Not recommending anyone to buy anything from DSW. I have had very disappointed experiences. 2, 3 experiences -Every time you get credit from returning shoes, the credit amount gets less than the amount you are suppose to get. 3rd or 4th experience - I suppose to have $47 in my gift card (from returning shoes) and even ensured w/a DSW staff in July 2022, but when I tried to use it today (12.14.22), the DSW system says the card is inactive. So I even made sure , 4 times I did put numbers correctly. I would not buy anything from DSW and advise people not to buy if you don't want any stress and waste your time. Very DISAPPOINTED. I love DSW. They have a huge selection of all kinds of shoes! I went here for rain boots, which they had several styles/patterns to choose from. Prices are great too and they always have sales. I also picked up some great socks there - super soft, infused with aloe. Bought some for friends that were coming in from out of town too. This location is absolute garbage and I'm going to give you a break down of my experience at Designer Shoe Warehouse in Arden. I had someone order a pair of boots for me for my birthday, that were unfortunately just a touch too narrow at the top of my feet. I had already picked out a replacement pair of shoes (plus another!) online and I had them in my cart and ready to go once I returned the ill fitting pair and got my store credit. My boyfriend was with me and we waited in line to be greeted by a beautiful African American female with short hair. She was friendly and let me know that yes, my store credit would work online. She was prompt and efficient. I was happy to be getting this errand taken care of. A sales associate come up to us and asked if we needed any help finding anything. I declined and started walking around. In a decent mood but not feeling well (I was dressed way down in Ugg boots, leggings, and an ugly sweater) I went to spend a few minutes checking out clearance. I wanted to get home so I just waltz my way over there and quickly scanned over their selection for size 10 shoes because they normally don't have what I'm looking for in store. This was where I noticed the damn security guard had targeted me and my boyfriend. My boyfriend came over to me and whispered that he tried looking at shoes but the security guard was staring him down HARD. He wasn't very nonchalant at all, he followed him down every damn aisle. Now he was coming over to us to watch us look at shoes! There were people everywhere but he was following us like a bunch of proven thieves! My boyfriend looked way better than me, fresh haircut, clean shaven, white boy with jeans and a sweater. I told him let's get the f out of here, that's way I hate shopping in stores in the Arden area. This is where I realized that previous sales associate was watching me and my boyfriend as well, and asked us again if we need help, while looking over at the security guard. Flustered, I said, "No, but thank you!" We immediately start leaving and the fucking security guard follows us out of the store!!! He followed us right up to the goddamn escalator and nearly stared us down from the second floor! I yelled up at him "Thank's for stereotyping and targeting us!" and I was heated as we left. This store is trash, and this kind of bs is why I shop online and get my shit delivered. Remember that DSW, when retail stores start shutting down and can no longer stay in business due to the convenience of online conglomerates such as Amazon. DSW is my favorite place to buy shoes and this location is no exception. They have an enormous selection to choose from and a great clearance section. They carry lots of designer brands and typically have the sizes I need! There doesn't ever seem to be too long of a wait to check out and employees are always asking if I'm finding everything I need. This location also has a decent spread of purses. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the restrooms have been completely out of order on several occasions that I've been here. read more

He bought a pair of maroon Converse All Stars at the Elk Grove location but bought the wrong size. I called this location ahead of time and specifically said I needed the CONVERSE ALL STARS. The girl I spoke to said, "they're like ... the ankle ones?" which ... what? I don't know what "the ankle ones" means. So I said, "they come below the ankle. Converse All Stars." Hit or miss, it's a gamble! Luckily this last time was a "hit," I could have walked out with at least 3 pairs of shoes, but my baller-on-a-budget mentality stopped me and I stuck with just one pair, no need to get greedy. There have been a select few times I've walked out with disgust, mad that I wasted my time even going over there. Parking is always tricky in this spot. Crammed between the Best Buy & Burger King, it gets a little crazy. The staff is minimal, but you don't necessarily need anyone's assistance. They basically dummy proof their warehouse-esque store. They have one shoe on display, with all of their inventory below. If you want it, you grab it - if you don't see it, SOL most likely. They have a rewards program, but I don't really know the benefits - I don't shop here enough. But I still give them my email when I purchase my feet goodies! A good assortment of shoes for men, women and now children. Going inside DSW can be a bit overwhelming. I try to go when I have a specific shoe in mind, otherwise you will begin to wander and the next thing you know, two hours has passed. Their women's shoes selection is HUGE and never-ending. In fact, I feel somewhat bad for the guys, they have limited shoes in general. Sorry, fellas. Ladies, you will find almost any shoe you can imagine here. From sneakers, to formal heels to sandals, Jesus shoes, flip-flops, flats, pumps, stilettos, you name it they have it. They also have a ton of accessories including purses, wallets, socks, jewelry. Check out their sale selection as well if you have time. I always like to venture that direction to see what steals I can buy and I love the "take additional 40-50% off" stickers in the clearance area. As a DSW member, I also get coupons in the mail so I try my best to take advantage of them when I can! Prices are moderately priced. Don't expect this location to ever be open. The sign outside the store and their website say they close at 7. When you call them, no employee will respond and instead an automated voice will tell you that they close at 6. You show up at 5:30, hopeful to find them open, however they will have a sign outside that says they close at 5. You will think "ok maybe i'll just try tomorrow". You'll show up tomorrow even an hour earlier (at 4:30) and will discover a sign outside saying they close at 4. I totally love DSW. Not only are their normal prices totally fair they have a killer clearance section AND send out regular ten dollar off coupons if you become a member. They have lots of in style options and many popular brands. I will say a lot of their stock is in house designers which means cheaply made shoes but if you look you can get great deals on higher end brands like Cole Hann, Uggs, Birkenstocks and Clarks (among many more) Plus everyone who works here is super awesome, there is never crowds and the parking situation isn't as bad as the rest of Arden Mall. read more

A warehouse of wardrobe for your feet. At the top of the escalator entrance you'll see a sea of shoes for both men and women, although the gals collection is probably double that of the mens. No worries though, as the men's shoes still take up two+ long aisles and include everything from formal to flip-flops. They often have sales, and I learned quickly that the first place to look is always in the discount section in the back where everything is 30%-80% off. Each time I've been in the store, I've encountered helpful/friendly staff (not pushy, either!) and when I've gone back to make the returns, the service was quick, efficient, and no hassle. I like it. The short version: Its a giant shoe store that supposedly is selling things at a discount but I don't see any price cut from everywhere else. Small men's sections and a TON of women's shoes. The basics: What can you really say about a shoe store? It has shoes and this one has a lot of them. They advertise they sell at warehouse pricing, but really what they do is tell you your choice costs X amount elsewhere and they are selling it to you for Y amount. When in fact when or if you look online it is really no big deal if any at all. The upside is they have a lot of shoes and something that will appeal to everyone.
