This is a store that caters to runners and their athletic shoe needs... not the usual place I would be seen shopping, but my sibkid needed some good fitting, supportive, ergonomic shoes for their cosmetology program so this was a recommended store to check out. The store is located in a relatively small storefront on J St., but the interior is spacious and with soaring ceilings, so soaring in fact that I did have to put in some earplugs at one point because there were so many people talking at pretty high decibels. It was like being a restaurant. We went on the MLK weekend and the store was packed with shoppers, many of whom seemed to be repeat customers. The focus of the store is getting the proper fit for the activity, and then aligning that with a particular style and brand/model of shoe that would theoretically work best. They are focused on selective and particular brands, such as Brooks and Hoka. The shoes are pricey (average price $200 for the Hokas) and they weren't advertising any sales, nor clearly pricing the shoes. In fact, the shoe browsing that you experience in a typical store- looking at and picking up shoes doesn't see to be encouraged here. Instead you're greeted by an associate immediately upon entering who is your "guide." They can help you with testing for sizing and gait, and they bring shoes for you to try, while helping you try on the shoes. It's definitely a full service shoe store. The foot testing on a walking/gait testing pad and a low platform was done for my sibkid by Alyzza, whom proved to be a knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant shoe saleswoman. The results led to several shoe models and the resultant try-ons. A few extra were added as Alyzza tried to determine the best fit for her customer. Two different arch supports were tried and one pair was the winner ($60). Ultimately one pair was selected as the winner (Hoka/Bondi model in wide). The color desired (black) was not available in this store. We found out that if the shoe was available from the Elk Grove location it could be ready for pick up on J St in a couple days, but the ownership/reciprocity of the other two regional stores (Folsom and Roseville) was different, such that we had to physically pick them up ourselves. She double checked that the shoes were available in Roseville with a phone call, and said they'd be held for my sibkid for three days. There was also an online ordering option which could take upwards of two weeks. We ended up making the drive to Roseville where the transaction was handled efficiently. It was irritating to have to drive ten miles out of the way because the stores don't share ownership nor do reciprocal regional deliveries. It would have been a much worse drive on a normal M-F, so we lucked out. Alyzza definitely made this whole process positive and is a huge asset to the store. Pros: Foot testing, hands on fitting, big selection. Helpful staff if you luck out and get a great associate. Great return policy (30 days, worn outside ok). Cons: Limited brands, no sales, little customer self- selection, potential perceived time pressure to test shoes (I would hate this but my sibkid was fine with it), sizing availability and possible need to travel to pick up shoes. I went here to buy some proper running shoes after years of just buying whatever Nikes were on sale. Not necessarily because Nikes work best for me but just due to brand recognition. I've been running off and on for years but really know nothing about shoes or what I should be wearing for my body/running form. I arrived at 4pm (they close at 5), figuring an hour was plenty of time. There was a little bit of a wait for an employee to help with the 3D foot mapping- which was fine- plenty to see while waiting! The employee who ended up helping me was super friendly but I got the feeling they were new to this job. As someone who was buying their first pair of really nice (& expensive) running shoes, I was really relying on the staff's expertise. I was expecting someone to look at my 3D mapping results and tell me what shoe(s) would work best for me. The employee brought out several pairs for me to try but was hesitant to actually recommend anything. They just kept saying "well it's your personal preference". Which is fair. The problem is: I am inexperienced and relying on your expertise. I felt a bit rushed overall. Maybe give yourself 1.5-2hrs if you don't have a brand/style in mind. I ended up buying a pair of ($150) shoes that work pretty well for me. At first, they set off my planter fasciitis but I bought some specific innersoles ($50) and fixed the issue. In summary: I think this store is great for people who are experienced runners and know what they like/need in shoes. If you are a novice and need deeper help, maybe try one of the stores who put you up on a treadmill and watch your gate, foot strike etc. read more

This location continues to have great customer service and they carry a wide variety of options. On our latest visit we were greeted right away and a team member was able to check on their stock to see if they had the style shoe we were looking for. They were able to pull out the shoes in a couple different colorways for us to check out and I found the pair I was looking for. The pricing is standard for the quality, and if you need help finding the correct shoes for you they are able to measure your feet and look at your stride. They also offer inserts that can help with different needs and will help make the shoes even more comfortable based off the shape of your feet and what workouts you're doing. read more

I've been doing the Tuesday run series here for the last few years, and it's consistently one of the best weekly community events in Sacramento. The organizers always create a fun, safe, and welcoming space for runners of all levels. They go the extra mile -- seriously. The staff is always super kind, supportive, and on top of it. Dr King is amazing!! I suffered a very serious injury when I was 17. Track accident at high school. Fractured my neck at the upper spine. c-2 and c-3 Dr King was so patient with me and took his time showing me how to deal with pain and suffering. Dropped in to their shop today around 1:30. It was a bit crowded but I was greeted pretty quickly and told someone would be with me soon. About 10 minutes later I was talking to an associate and doing a scan of my feet. The associate told me to take my shoes off but keep my socks on. I stood still on their machine while it scanned my flinstone feet. Next I was told to walk back and forth for 30 seconds on a small portion of a mat that showed the impact of pressure my feet make while I walk, pretty cool! After we were done I sat down and went over what shoes would be best for my feet. I was shown the scan of my feet. The associate made suggestions on what shoes would best suit me. They have shoes for all types of feet here. Skinny, fat, wide, narrow, EVERY SIZE. I tried on three different pairs of shoes. The average price of the shoe here is about $150. Pricey sure but the health of my feet is important. I workout and make a moderate amount of steps throughout my day. I want every step to count and for my feet not to be in pain when I'm done. The decision was tough as all shoes felt very comfortable in different ways. I went with a pair of New Balance's. Not only are they stylish but they'll be very effective at making walking feel light again. Special thanks to my lady for the Christmas present :) I also bought myself some insoles to put in my shoes at home. What an awesome place to get your perfect shoes customized just for you. I got my feet and pressure measured and found out one foot is bigger than the other so I should always size up which is extremely valuable knowledge going forward for any shoe. Rep I worked with was awesome and professional, recommended me a few pairs and I ended up leaving with some Hokas that feel like I'm walking on air. I can't believe I haven't written a review for FF before. I've been a loyal customer for 12 years. The store is always welcoming, has a positive vibe, and makes you want to start running even more. They're just inspiring and incredible at what they do. They conduct an impressive foot scan and gait evaluation if you're new or just want an assessment. They fit you to the best shoes for your needs and feet. Recently, I was in a hurry, and just went with my usual size (so I thought). A few days after wearing the shoes they were definitely too small (I forgot I'm a wide). I happened to read that they'd accept shoes within about a month. Mine was actually about 6 weeks, but I'd barely worn them. I called and the person on the phone was awesome. They welcomed me back, no questions asked. In person, the friendliness was the same. I put my name on the list (there's always a bit of a wait for a shoe expert) then left for a coffee. They texted me when I was up soon and was greeted by Marney who was a pro. She went through an abundance of shoes to find the right style, color, and fit. I'm so grateful for this store. I've been starting to work out at Orangetheory recently but my knees and feet were starting to hurt from running in my Nikes, so reddit suggested I get my feet scanned at Fleet Feet! Service - I came about an hour right before closing and asked for a feet scan. Waited for less than 10 minutes and Aman or Ahman/Ahmad (sorry I may have gotten his name wrong) helped me. He was SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE!! Highly recommend! I actually went back with another friend and got him again! Essentially for the feet scan, you step on one machine that will scan the length, width, etc of your feet and on the second machine, you walk back and forth 4-5 times and it scans or collects data on where your "hot points" are, which I guess are where you apply the most pressure while walking. After getting the scan, the staff will explain the data and go through what they will recommend. They'll also ask if you have any preferred brand of shoes or colors, etc and what type of shoe you're looking for (e.g. purely running or cross training, etc). They come back with 2-3 shoe recommendations for you to try and I was also recommended insoles. I ended up getting a pair of ASCICS and the insoles. I later went back and got a pair of socks because I had rewards from my first purchase. Selection - depending on your shoe size, there might be limitations on color/type of shoe they have available for you to try. Value - 1000% worth it. I feel like I run on clouds now and I don't get ANY pain at all from my workouts. I recommend this so much that I took another friend there and she ended up getting a pair of ASCICS as well for running and she loves them! read more

Devon was amazing. This was actually my second fleet feet foot scan. Briefly, my first time was only 30 minutes and the person told me to keep my socks on. The last year I have been working off those results, not knowing they were inaccurate. I have been experiencing some pain when running so I went in again to get my gait checked and see what recommendations they had. Devon helped me. We did another foot scan and this time he insisted I had to take my socks off. They drastically changed the results of my test. He also had me run back and forth and watched my posture and foot placement. He was able to assess a lot just by looking at me. I've been experiencing some pain in my Achilles and the shoes I have been running in have a lower drop. Devon recommended a shoe with a higher drop to alleviate that pain. He really paid so much attention to detail and only brought out shoes that he thought would be a good fit for me and my goal. I was torn between a pair of new balance and a pair of brooks. At the time I was leaning towards the new balance but he seemed to think the brooks were a better fit. So i put the shoe on hold to do a little more research. I ended up buying last year's model of the brooks online since it was cheaper than the new one and I wasn't 100% sold that I was going to like it since I liked the width of the new balance more in the store. But I trusted Devon so I wanted to try the brooks. I just finished my second run in the brooks and I really really like them. I notice the higher drop has absolutely shifted the pressure away from my Achilles like he stated. This was such a great experience and I'm really glad Devon was there to help me. read more

I have come here numerous times and participated in a couple of their training groups and events. They are an outstanding community to be a part of. Be sure to set an appointment to get your complimentary foot and gait analysis as well as shoe fitting. They even let you walk and run in the shoes to test them out. The shoes are pricey, but the quality is like no other. They sometimes have sale items like shirts and socks...I am not sure about shoes, but it would be cool if they sold old season shoes for discount. The last time I went (this past Monday), I had called lasy week to set an appointment so that me and my friend Amy could get assessed at the same time. Lorelei helped me and someone else helped my friend Amy. They were both very knowledgeable and patient. We both ended up leaving with a pair of shoes. In addition, I have been a part of their Find your Stride training group and their Trail Heads group. Both really great programs with motivating coaches. They also host some events like a free Holiday 5k each December. I will be doing that this weekend. Fleet feet is a great shoe/running store to visit if you want to get your feet/gait assessed and get informed recommendations from knowledgeable, friendly and kind associates! During my appointment Mya helped me with my foot assessment and shoe fitting! She was super helpful and knowledgeable in answering my questions about having low arches and pronated feet. If you're interested in joining running clubs they had an assortment of flyers for different running clubs in the area as well!! They also have a shoe donation box so that you can donate your old shoes which i thought was amazing! Fleet feet continues to be an amazing place to shop! This location has truly become my family favorite The customer service here is absolutely impeccable, and the selections consistently amazing. I have been shopping here for years and I can tell you that while I'm not a runner etc. my feet do need to be comfortable and I have been able to find pair after pair of great day-to-day walking shoes. When I take the family in and there he are looking for more sports related shoes, Fleet feet, consistently can meet and exceed expectations. Parking is an absolute pain, but absolutely worth the push to find a place and go in and shop. Buyers tip: you can make an appointment and should make an appointment to be seen by someone. Yes, they do take walk-ins, but they become so incredibly busy with the racing world, that unless you were shopping just for apparel, do you want that appointment. After putting off buying the right shoes for my workout needs for YEARS, I finally went to Fleet Feet. I'm starting this review by 100% admitting that I was too frugal to invest in the right shoes, and - let's get this out of the way- the shoes are not cheap. You come here for the consultation and customer care to find the right shoe, catered just for you. As I choked on the prices, I went ahead and got my feet scanned (on the scanning machine which also calculates how you walk and your pain points) and also properly measured by a real live human. I was shocked to find out I was wearing the wrong sized athletic shoe and Issac, the ever patient rep, quickly found the right shoes for my issues. Everything I tried was high quality and felt amazing. Issac was super honest about what best works for what activities I participate in (for me, cardio, crossfit, etc). Some of the best selling brands were not right for me, even though they have great reputations, and Issac showed -and taught me- so many things about fit. Anyone with back, knee, leg and feet issues -go here! Get you feet scanned and measured. It's not just for runners and the like. I definitely saw all different kinds of folks in the store. Did I find the right pair for me? Absolutely. I also spent a small fortune but it is SO worth it, as in, why didn't I do this years ago? The best part of shopping at Fleet Feet is their complimentary fitting which includes an analysis of your gait and how you distribute your weight when you walk/run. This allows for them to find your perfect size and type of support. They also email you this info and store it so that they still have it when you come in for a new pair! I've been purchasing my running shoes here for the past 5 years and have always had really great experiences. I love that they remember which shoes I've bought previously, what sizes, etc. It's nice to not have to try to remember all the info myself. I took my husband here recently for his first fitting. He was very impressed and ended up talking through multiple options with the employee assisting him. She was able to tell him exactly which brands would be best for his type of running (short runs on pavement vs trails, etc.) AND which brands/types healthcare workers gravitate towards for their sh (it's not unusual for him to do over 10 miles of steps at work). I have been to this fleet feet location numerous times and always had help from friendly Knowles staff. There are lots of good, sturdy shoes in various sizes available, with the option to order shoes online and try them on when the are shipped to the store, just to make sure they are a good fit. The prices are a bit higher, but the quality of these shoes makes it a good investment into the health of one's feet (and overall health!). This past week, I had the unfortunate task of having to bring back a pair of shoes that just wasn't working for me. I brought back the shoes within 60 days of purchase. The shoes were returned to the store, where they will be donated to a program that provides shoes to the needy. Meanwhile, I had a size specialist come and help me try on other pairs of shoes, until we found one that worked with my oddly shaped and sized feet. My refund was given, but my new shoes cost the exact same price as my old ones, so I broke even. I am so grateful that Fleet Feet participates in a program that allows for shoes to be donated to others, and that I had a chance to try the shoes out a few times to determine they were not a good fit for me. Came here on a rainy Sunday to get my mom fitted for new walking shoes. I definitely recommend you set an appointment in advance if you want a personalized fitting. We got there around 2:50pm, our appointment was at 3pm and we were seen almost immediately after checking in at the front desk. The worker helping us, Bella, was super nice and helpful. She helped my mom find the right pair of walking shoes, considering width, length, and everything in between.
