It is an incredible store with much selection, but the way they analyze your feet (high tech), and figure out what type shoe may be good for you, is impressive. The service is phenomenal. Stores like this shows why brick & mortar shops go out of business and people shop online instead! I would rather order ten pairs of shoes online, try them in the comfort of my own home and return the ones that didn't work out than to step foot in Fleet Feet again. The moment I entered, no one greeted me (though, subsequent customers all got a warm "Welcome In"). I waited in line at the cash register while a customer was being checked out with employee #1. Customer left and employee #1 says there are 2 customers in front of me. So I walk around and check out their shoes. I was referred to Fleet Feet from my podiatrist who recommended I come in for Oofos. I do not like to wear socks (unless going hiking, I wear socks with my Altras) and just wanted a pair of slip on shoes for everyday wear. I saw Oofos had a pair of slip on shoes and thought I would try those on so I waited. I watched 3 customers come in and they were all greeted with a "Welcome In". I watched Employee #1 help a customer in front of me and employee #2 help the second customer in front of me. Employee #3 was finally done and walks up to me and tells me "My shift is over, employee #1 or 2 will help me when they are done". I waited for 30 minutes, had to renew my parking too! It wasn't just the wait, I dont mind waiting for good customer service. At around the 30 minute mark, employee #1 who was still with his customer, walks over and asks how he can help me. I felt like he was just trying to push me out at this point. Why are you NOT giving me individual attention as you are with your current customer? I told him I have bunion pain and looking for an everyday slip on shoe. He did not suggest any items to help with my bunion pain. He did not even acknowledge my bunion pain. I mentioned I dont like wearing shoes with laces and noticed the Oofos had a pair of slip on shoes I can try. He told me to go to Beck shoes instead. I asked if I can try on the Oofos slip on shoes. He said they are limited sizes (I found out after, because that style was discontinued) and grabbed me a pair of 7.5. I tried it on anyways but it did not fit because I am a size 8. I put the shoes back, walked out the shop and will never be back again. May I suggest that Fleet Feet operate on an APPOINTMENT ONLY basis given the individualize one-on-one service that can take up to 45mins-1 hour. They have a foot scan and that can take up to 10 minutes to scan, interpret the data and explain findings to their customers. I was not offered the scan either so I will not be back! read more

I've been a customer at the Santa Rosa fleet feet and have been buying my running shoes at FFSR. since 2003. They've helped me get ready for more than a dozen marathons and other races. This is not just a retail store, this is a place where active people can come to be a part of a community. I recently visited the store because I needed to be fit for a new running shoes as the brand I had been using discontinued my shoe model. As a long time marathon runner, I know that value of having the proper shoe for my gait body mechanics. The store offers a state of the art analysis to scan your foot anatomy as well as record your stride / foot strike to see what type of shoe you may need. The process takes about 30 minutes as the next step includes trying out the shoes which are designed for your specific needs ( neutral/ stability etc). This level of service is complementary; no purchase necessary. In addition to their gear, the store also offers a variety of training programs to support novice and experienced runners/walkers. Many participants became longtime friends. If you're looking to get started with a walk or run program or just need some new gear, this is a great option. read more

I had to pick up my race day bib and shirts from them and despite them still being open and having the bibs right there in front of me they said no we won't give you one. You were not here at 5pm. Dang. I came in yesterday around 3:30 and the store was completely empty. I was on the hunt for new running shoes and I had a good idea on what kind of shoes I wanted to take a look at. I was greeted from a far from a young girl who kind of kept her distance. I made my way to the shoes and let her know that I was looking to try on the ON Cloud Monster shoe. She asked me what size (7.5 or 8) and went to the back to look for the shoes, when she returned she let me know that they didn't have the shoe in 8 but they did in 7.5, I was sitting on the little bench waiting and she slid the box to me and stood back as I put them on. I've been there 5 times and NEVER have I been handed a box, the staff usually puts them on customers, and talks about the shoes(good and bad). I knew right then that I wasn't going to buy the shoes from her, even if they did fit, which they didn't but she told me that I could order them online. I went to REI, REI carries ON shoes and they sell with a smile. read more

We are really tall people. I'm about 6'1 and my hubby is about 6'4. Because of this, it's hard for us to find pants and really hard for us to find shoes. After relocating back to Sonoma County, we have been doing a lot of trail hiking and hubby's shoes suddenly kicked the can. We were in downtown Santa Rosa so we decided to swing in to fleet feet and hope they had shoes in a size 14 for him. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lady in a mask asking if we had an appointment for a shoe fitting. Bashfully we said no and that we were just hoping that we could buy a pair of shoes. Gratefully, she was able to slot us in immediately because somebody didn't show up for their appointment. The gentleman who was assigned to us was very helpful and did a walk evaluation as well as a digital scan of my better half's feet and determined which shoes would be a best fit for him. Unfortunately, they did not have a whole lot of stock in a size 14 and what they did have were not the right fit for his specific feet shape. Regardless, the salesman was so helpful and informative, we had an absolutely super positive experience with him and the whole team over at fleet feet. Due to covid, they had a lot of precautions in place which made us feel really safe. They had an extremely thorough cleaning regimen for shoes that had been tried on as well as social distancing limitations between clients and workers, and frequent hand sanitizing stations. The location is easy to get to right in railroad square, with lots of street and paid parking. We definitely will be back once we run through (haha) the pair of shoes we ended up getting at heart and sole which is where our salesman sent us after we struck out here at fleet feet. Rhonda took great care of my husband and I. We made an appointment, we were greeted at the door by friendly staff and asked to sanitize. Everyone was aware of the distancing and they were sanitizing shoes and insoles after every try on. We kept Rhonda, the owner, busy with our high maintenance feet. Came to the store during business hours to pick up my bib and shirt for a race, only to find the store closed with the lights off. It clearly says that this is the location to pick up until 6pm (which is the time THEY have posted that they will close). I came the day after because it said I could pick up by 5:30pm (again, they close at 6pm) lights on, doors locked, employees standing around. When asked if we could pick up the bibs we were simply told to (from behind closed doors) pick them up tomorrow. I find extremely odd and unprofessional to yell a response from behind closed doors. Ankle brace along with inserts as I really needed new shoes to accommodate both. I hired a personal trainer a month or so ago as he recommended this store. Ok...A day of running errands and it's time for those shoes! I stopped in and was immediately greeted by Ellie. Super friendly and beyond helpful. I told Ellie what I was looking for as she went and found several sizes and options for my feet that would accommodate my ankle brace. After several styles and sizes we found the perfect fit of Brooks. Extra wide did the trick. Lucas threw in a free pair of stretch shoe laces that were very helpful too. Incredibly patient and truly helpful. Thank you Ellie! You really helped this old dude out! Plus she laughed at my goofy jokes. Awesome! I really appreciate this store and staff. I went here for my first time today and had a positive experience. I walked in and was immediately greeted. It was slow in there which I liked because I get overwhelmed when there's a bunch of people. They had multiple selections of shoes, socks, and shoe inserts. I came for shoe inserts due to being on my feet multiple times a day. The worker immediately took me over and had my feet scanned. She then had me walk back and forth. She then sat me down and went over my results. She pulled two different inserts she felt were best. I tried them on and ended up picking a pair. The women was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of the questions I had. The inserts were $60 each but were on sale. So I got 2 inserts for under $100 which I think is a good deal for inserts that actually work well! Definitely will be back. read more

I used to love coming into this store. I would recommend it to friends, colleagues, whoever would listen. After my last few visits to this location, I'm not as enthusiastic. I've made an appointment each time and at times when the store would not be busy. However, it seems the knowledgeable team that used to really listen to what I needed, analyze my gait, and ensure I was fitted correctly has been replaced by a team that, though they may be running enthusiasts, don't seem to have the knowledge required to distinguish Fleet Feet from its competitors. They make assumptions about customers' needs and are too quick to draw on their own experience, rather than taking the time to listen. After making three returns on a pair of shoes I shouldn't have been sold in the first place, I'm no longer a Fleet Feet evangelist. read more

I went to this Fleet Feet store in Santa Rosa yesterday to return a pair of shoes that I had purchased online. A employees came to assist me and I told her I needed to return my tennis shoes. She then took the shoes to the back and came back about 5 minutes later and asked me why I keep returning the same shoe. I said it is not the same shoe that I have returned before. She then went to the back room and came back and told me the computer was down and I would have to come back tomorrow. I knew she was lying about the computer being down because how would she have known I had returned the shoes before? I asked her and another assistant what their names were and they both refused to give them to me. I turned away and said I would never shop there again. She said that was fine by me. Why was I treated so disrespectfully at this store as I was simply trying to return a pair of shoes that kept slipping off my foot? I had to travel 7 or 8 miles to return my shoes and was turned away by the staff. I have never been treated so disrespectfully at any store in my life. I will never ever visit this store again. I really like this store - the staff are not only friendly and enthusiastic but they know their stuff. When I was looking for walking shoes one of their ladies had me take off my shoes and walk back and forth in the store so she could evaluate the way I walked and make a recommendation that would help me based on my foot shape and natural gait. I was impressed and have enjoyed the shoes. They're not cheap, but they're high quality and you're almost sure to get a good match. I also love their selection of socks and stop here most times I come to town to buy more good, cushioned covers for my footsies. Finally stopped in for a long-awaited shoe replacement; I always procrastinate too long because I'm not the easiest person to fit due to multiple ortho issues....and plus, well you know: COVID. Not only did Rhonda take the time and effort required to get me out of there in a viable pair of shoes with the proper inserts, but from the time I crossed the threshold Fleet Feet was one of the most diligent businesses I've been to in both respecting and adhering to the current COVID recommendations and requirements. I was sent here by my foot doctor to get some supportive shoes for my tendinitis issue. Buying shoes here is far superior to any other store. They really know feet and shoes. They measure your feet with a digital scanner and recommend shoes for your particular feet and needs, including injuries and other foot problems. They carry lots of good brands of running shoes, and they have a 60 day return policy. The young woman who helped me was very knowledgeable and helpful but when there was a product that she didn't know much about, rather than faking it, she got help from the manager. Shopping locally, with locally owned businesses is what we should all be seeking to do with our purchases. If you agree, you can feel good about spending your money with this local shoe store. Initially, I came here back in the early 2000's as they were involved with Team in Training and helping new runners raise money for and awareness of leukemia. But over the years, my running slowed and I haven't been in for quite a while. A few weeks ago, my daughter needed shoes for her new adventure in high school track. Our first local stop had some very uninspired help. We left empty handed and decided to try Fleet Feet. The young man there was fantastic as he listened to my daughter, brought her through a protocol they have to measure your feet three dimensionally, watch you run and then advise you on possible shoes. It is really neat to see the full measure of your feet. He helped her find the right shoes and suggested an insert as well and she has been very happy. I went in for the same treatment myself the following week. Sadly, I bumped into a sales associate that wasn't on her A game that day. I walked out wondering if I should let the store owner know? Obviously, the rep I met with wasn't following a protocol the store has for selling shoes. As a business owner myself, I'd want to know. Luckily, the store had sent me an email survey. I kindly let them know of the above story. To her credit, store owner Rhonda emailed me and apologized. She invited me in for another try to make it up to me. We arraigned to meet Saturday. Rhonda took well over an hour with me. It's hard to find the right pair of shoes at first. And they aren't cheap these days. Usually above $100. We finally found the right pair for me. Some New Balance 880s. Rhonda was really grateful I had shared my thoughts instead of bashing the store online. A bad day from one sales rep doesn't earn a bashing from me. But she thanked me anyway and gave me a very well-appreciated discount. I don't want to share how good the discount is only so others don't put her out of business asking for it but it was over the top! Folks, shop local. And understand that an owner cannot be there at the store at all times. When you come across a bit of poor service, don't destroy the business with online criticism. Understand they survive on our purchases and fight against big box stores and online sellers. They need communication and our business. Not our flames and critiques. When you approach an owner, kindly, with care, and relate a bad news story, almost all of them will want to make it right for you. Every dollar we spend in a local store is recycled throughout our area. Every dollar spent at major retailers goes straight out of our town. Rhonda employs high school students. Many small businesses do. They are learning. Our kids have less and less entry level jobs. This store is teaching them invaluable sales skills. Try to be patient. We all had a first job. These kids are also getting paid and spending in our community, too. So, try to help a business owner, rather than bury her. It worked for me! I've struggled for years to find the right shoe. I'd buy pair after pair thinking they were right for me, but after walking only 30 minutes or so, I'd be in pain. Not cool. Sooooo glad I finally decided to heed the good advice I was given by my boss, and check out Fleet Feet. After reading a few reviews here on Yelp, calling and speaking with someone, I headed in as fast as my current pair of crappy shoes could take me. Melody quickly came to my assistance once I arrived. She was helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. I immediately felt like I was in the right place and would walk out of there satisfied with my purchase....and I did! After trying on about 8 different pairs of shoes, I ended up going with one of the first pairs I put on. Let me stress that if you're worried about fashion and style over comfort, you may be disappointed. I used to just grab whatever appealed to my eye when shoe shopping, but those cute shoes always fell flat and never made it possible for me to take a long walk or jog without discomfort and pain. Melody checked out my gait, with and without shoes. I jogged and walked around in each pair so she could watch me and I could feel them out. I actually really like the bright neon coral and blue shoes I took home. I can not believe how comfortable they are! Melody also recommended I get some insoles as well. I've never been a fan of insoles, but she fitted me with the perfect ones. I grabbed a pair of thick socks that she also recommended I try. Next, we moved on to sports bras. I've never really been educated on how a sports bra is supposed to fit. I just figured whatever held my boobs in a bit tighter than a regular bra was appropriate and good enough. No. I was so wrong. I took home the best, most comfy sports bra I've ever worn. They had a decent selection of running/workout clothing, including plus sizes...although I would have liked to see more plus size options seeing as I myself am a plus size woman. They had some stuff though, and that's better than nothing. It can be a challenge to find local stores that carry plus size active wear that doesn't look like it's meant to be worn by your grandmother. A week or so after walking, jogging and light hiking in my shoes, I was noticing something that was never a problem for me before. My feet were sliding around in my shoes due to them being a half size larger. I know your feet swell, and it's recommended to get a slightly larger shoe, but the sliding was bothering me. I called and spoke to Melody, who recommended that I back lace my shoes. I wasn't sure what that was, so I looked it up online and Fleet Feet had a short video on marathon lacing. I gave it a try and it was a success! No more slipping and sliding around in my shoes when jogging or walking down hill. I could not be happier with my new shoes, socks, insoles and bra. I had a scheduled shoe fitting at the new location for Fleet Feet today (720 Third St. - just a couple blocks on the other side of the freeway from their old location). Within the first couple minutes Merri Lou vetted out that I had a dog and insisted that I bring her in for my fitting immediately winning me over. The fitting process was seamless and Merri Lou brought out three pairs of shoes that felt great. After narrowing my needs to trail shoes and shoes that could handle a rigorous workout I walked out with a pair of New Balance and Altras. I've already taken the Altras for a quick trail run and they felt great, to the point where I've been home for three hours and still haven't taken them off (and I'm a no shoes in the house kind of gal). Between the excellent customer service and the technology of the 3-D fitting it's more than worth going to Fleet Feet. read more

This is an incredible local hot spot for active runners, walkers and hikers and even tri-athletes in Sonoma County. The whole staff is knowledgeable, friendly and more than happy to answer any and all questions you may have about the gear in the store as well as injury prevention. The store hosts several group training programs through out the year for runners varying from beginners up to half marathon programs. There are weekly fun runs on Wednesday night, rain or shine, at the store at 5:30 and it is a great place to meet other local runners. The store recently moved to a new local in historic railroad square to a bigger and better location with a mini track in store for when you are trying on your new kicks. Wow what happened to this place? My son and I stop by to replace his shoes that he was wearing. He took them off and showed them to the sales person and asked for his size. The sales person returned with four pairs of shoes by the same company but not even close. He mentioned he wanted to stay with the same color and style and she pointed to the other shoes and said yeah this is the same. It was like the twilight zone! He asked if she had the black shoes he wants, showing her and she said yes and still trying to sell him the other ones. This store is pretty darn awesome! Usually only visit once to twice a year to buy new running shoes, so cannot comment on many of the other products on display. The handful of times I've visited though I have always received stellar customer service who were very knowledgeable and not pushing at all to sell you the high priced items. This is one place that is a must if you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced runner who is not sure what shoes to buy. As a runner in the intermediate stage, I now understand that picking out the right pair of shoes is vital to staying healthy and avoiding injuries. I spent a considerable amount of time during my beginning stages of running dealing with foot and leg injuries. I never would've even guessed that it was the "deal of a lifetime" shoes I bought online. They were always a great price and sleek looking, but in the end they were the ones to blame for the injuries (Darn those sneaky deals). Thankfully Fleet Feet came to the rescue, measuring my feet, watching how I walked, jogged, and ran to precisely determine the best shoes for me. Every visit I've been in and out of the store within an hour and always extremely happy with the experience. Parking can be a pain during peak hours, and it's all metered, but on the bright side there are some nice restaurants around to enjoy if you pay for 2 hour parking (Shoes and food!). Again, if you are in the area and are in need of advice and or fitting of new shoes, give Fleet Feet a shot, may be worth it in the long run! read more
