We were sent here after striking out at a fellow running shoe store in railroad square. Our attendant at the other store called over ahead of time and let them know we were coming and they were helpful enough to pull a bunch of shoes in hubby's size to try and expedite our process. When we arrived, we parked in the on-site lot which was very convenient and we made our way in. They had lots of hand sanitizer placed around the store and all of their workers had masks on which I thought was good. The lady who received the call from the other store was the one who helped us and pulled all the stock to try on. The very first set of shoes that she gave my better half were the ones he ended up purchasing. They were perfect and even though he really liked them, she encouraged him to try the others just to make sure they made the right fit. While they looked at shoes together I looked around a bit and found a couple electrolyte supplements that I wanted to try which was exciting. As we were chatting with our shoe specialist, we mentioned that we are an active duty Navy family and she said that they offer a discount for military families which I thought was very nice. Once we had made our purchase we were out of there in a flash and hubby absolutely loves his new shoes. I'm so heartened by the outpouring of support in our community for all of those affected by the wildfires. Due to the extent of this disaster I have yet to encounter someone who was not affected in some way. With so many sad stories, I want to be sure to take some time to share stories of the good going on in the community. After 40+ years of building his life in their Kenwood home, my grandfather lost everything in the early hours of Sunday morning. Four or five stars - that is the question. I am definitely a fan, but can I say Heart and Sole is as good as it gets for a running shoe store? Hmmm... I came in on a Saturday morning. It was not busy at all - only one other customer in the store. I was greeted immediately. I told the salesperson I was having some issues with the tendon on the outside of my leg. He looked at the shoes I was wearing, and told me they were probably making the issue worse because they were made for people who have the opposite issue. He brought out a neutral shoe for me to try. He looked at my gait, and from there he brought out several shoes for me to try on. He was very patient and explained a lot about the platform and stiffness of the shoes. I ended up liking a pair of Brooks shoes. I got a chance to try out the shoes a couple days later. They seemed to help because the pain was not nearly as bad as with my other shoes. Hopefully, this will be a good solution for me. So, excellent knowledge and customer service - check. Convenience and fair pricing - check (running specialty stores are not the place for bargain shoppers). Good selection - check, but here's the rub, I have shopped at running stores in larger metropolitan areas that have a much broader brand selection. So, while I will most likely be back to Heart and Sole when I need running shoes, I can't say that this store is as good as it gets. I think it is probably at the very top of the heap here in Santa Rosa, but if you want to make the drive, you can find a better selection of brands in one of the big cities. Too bad Yelp stars aren't like shoes, no half stars because I would give Heart and Sole a solid 4.5 if I could. read more

I guess they have reviews on their old location page but supposedly this is their new location. Since I never went to the old one, I can't comment on if the change is better or not but I had a great visit here. First of all, the people there are happy, helpful, and most important - honest. The owner fit me for some shoes, then put me on a treadmill to show me how they were working (I had to pay 200 dollars to do this in the past!), and then talked to me more about it fit and how to keep myself from running injuries. Then after spending all that time with me, he looked at my old shoes and said I actually didn't have to buy new ones yet and could wait until my old shoes were around 450 miles used. I felt relieved that first of all, my current shoes were fine and dandy but even more so, the owner was honest and not trying to weasel me to spend money. I ended up buying a roller/massage type device for my foot but trust me, this visit made a lifetime customer out of me! So if you have any running/walking needs, go here! read more

I have been buying my running shoes from Heart and Sole for 5 years now and I can't say enough great things about their customer service. I am not your average easy customer who can come in and buy the same shoe time after time and be comfortable. It is always something. Maybe it is the fact that I started running at 45 years old. Or that there is always something going on...Pronation, check. One foot slightly bigger than the other, check. Sore IT, ankle, hamstring, quad, calf, yep, all of the above at one time or another. Regardless of what ails me the guys and ladies at H&S always help me to find the perfect shoe, socks, rollers, bottles, packs, belts, nutrition and clothes that I want and need to make my time on the beautiful trails and roads of Sonoma county a great experience. My husband loves the store because they make it easy to find me the perfect present for every occasion. Tuesday night 5:30 PM fun runs are a great way to introduce yourself to a great store and their awesome employees. You will find a fun group of people to run with, from the slowest turtle to the fastest rabbit. There are training groups starting year round to train for specific events or just to have some great people to meet and run with. The customer service is second to none. My 13 years old son is a very big guy (over 6'2" and 250 lbs), he tends to start busting out of his shoes before they've reached their life limit. The rep that helped us was really nice, she measured his feet and watched his gait. His feet tend to turn out a bit, and hang over the sides of his shoes. He has very wide feet. She brought out 6 pairs of shoes with varying widths and had him try on, and walk in every pair, eliminating the ones that he didn't like compared to the last. It's funny, but he kept going back to the first pair she had him try on and those were the ones we purchased. I would give them 5 stars, but by the Gods they are expensive. My son's foot health is worth every penny, but it's really, really hard for me to fork over $150-$200 for a pair of athletic shoes! That being said, we will be going back when he needs shoes again. I've come here twice now, both for some running/training shoes. They were nice, knowledgeable and welcoming every time. They use a treadmill and record you running to look at how your foot falls and how you line up with each step. Then base of what they see, they bring out multiple pairs for you to see which one fits best. They talk you through it as they go, which is nice. I really like this method, and the shoes I've gotten from here have always been a big improvement from other store bought ones. I can definitely feel the difference when I train/run! read more

I was in the Marine Corps and have never really worn anything other than steel toed boots and Vans. Since I got out in May, I've really done everything from working to going out to coaching football in Vans. Now Vans are flat shoes, and have definitely not been good to my feet. In the beginning of August, the arch on my right foot has really been bugging me. Finally I broke down just this morning from the constant pain and limping and went to Heart and Sole. Upon doing research and talking to a few of my old Navy Doc buddies, I quickly explained I had Plantar Fasciitis. Right away I was asked what kind of inserts I used (Dr. Scholls) and they said throw em away. They let me try a few different inserts with better arch support and then I tried on the Brooks Beasts. Right off the bat, the pain in my right foot was almost completely eliminated. Then after a stiffer insert was put in, I knew I had found the shoes my feet have been begging for. I also asked them if they carried 4E (wide) shoes for my Dad who is 52 and has been battling bone spurs, and the quest to find cool, comfortable looking shoes. I was informed that almost all the shoes are available in 4E, and could even be special ordered if need be. I will definitely come back here again, and highly recommend Heart and Sole to ANYBODY that has pain in their feet like I did! read more

About 4 years ago I purchased a pair of tennis shoes from Heart & Sole - they observed my gait, explained what kind of shoe would be best for me. I trusted them and enjoyed the shoes until they really needed to go to tennis shoe heaven...about 3 months ago I went back with the old pair which they recycled :) and then suggested a new shoe! I am super happy with the new pair and have dropped off all the old tennis shoes I had to be recycled.
