    Fleurette restaurant had been here over a year and had recently dined here. Was excited to savor some of this chef creations since it's all inspired by the flavors from the south of France and the French Riviera. Ordered the Cannes cocktail which is presented with the sudsy foam on stemware...it looked dazzling but it tasted too medicinal. The golden Ossetra caviar egg yolk pasta looked simple but did taste sublime. The grilled wild king salmon also presented appealingly and finished with a poured on saffron sauce was amazing. Finally, the strawberry yuzu for dessert looked a bit odd, as the shapes can be interpreted in a thousand words but as for taste, it was not overly sweet and had a degree of tartness which was delightful. The portions were very small and therefore eating it all is guilt free and beside I was celebrating my birthday so calories do not count at all. Every dish was presented artfully and tasted exquisite, Five Stars. About the ambiance, the restaurant is surrounded by corporate buildings, I felt like I was in Century City in LA. I prefer being by the ocean always, but this restaurant's interior was decorated with a modern flair while the outdoor covered glass patio was synonymous to eating in a glass greenhouse except for the potted lemon trees were faux/fake, NOT real and cringe. Also not nice were the most uncomfortable patio seats that seriously needed more cushion. The downfall of my dining experience began with the hostesses, who were NOT cordial and definitely unaccommodating. I had reservations and arrived impromptu. My sister from Santa Monica was running late and she suggested I go ahead and start without her, plus I was famished and super thirsty so I informed the hostess of this and instead of accommodating me, I had to wait in their lobby when the restaurant was practically empty. She could have offered and suggest a drink from the bar or seat me at my table but the hostess had such a negative attitude it almost made me walk out. I did NOT want to allow her to ruin my night so I had to simply shrug it off for the moment. However, as much as I did ignore her Uncordial and Unprofessional behavior, it did leave a very negative first impression and one I can initially ignore but NOT forget, hence this review. Unfortunately, the negativity was not the first impression a diner would ever want and especially for a birthday celebration. Zero star. Service from the staffers who attended to my table were all pleasant, service oriented and had positive attitudes. I would consider a return visit but not look forward to the hostesses cringey behavior and negative demeanor.

    Fleurette did it again; so many good specials and new things to try. My favorites this time were the ham & cheese (still my #1; nothing like it, always a must order), the Salade Tropézienne (light, citrusy, just mix in the dressing at the bottom), and the milk chocolate and raspberry dessert; crispy wafer layers with creamy, tart filling and fresh berries. So good, especially after a big meal. Everything else was solid too, the yellowfin tuna tartare was fresh and bright, the Mediterranean prawn spaghetti was super balanced with perfectly cooked prawns and a nice fresh hit from the mint, and the herb-roasted chicken was juicy with a little crisp on the skin and big enough to share. Another great meal all around.

    Super beautiful and nature-deco restaurant. I would honestly decorate my house like it if I could. Staff were super polite and broke down each dish with expert knowledge. Utensils and plating were switched out between each course. Drinks were super fun and creative. I had one that tasted like straight up pesto in a good way lol. The food was tasty I could tell the level of effort and precision that went into each dish. The only star I'd dock is for the pricing of 2 of the dishes. I don't know how I'd justify dropping ~$30 for the veggie medley and aioli. And while the diver sole was my favorite dish, I wish I was let known the $95 price tag of it while it was being pitched to me instead of finding out on the bill. Idk maybe shame on me for forgetting to ask, might've went with a pasta instead. Dessert was fantastic, I'm typically not a big fan of strawberries but the strawberry yuzu is a mind-changer. All in all a satisfactory experience. Will I come back? Maybe. Just be mentally prepared to come with a large budget and ask for the prices of the specials.

    Wow! Chef Travis...Amazing experience. Service was top notch. Refined yet comfortable and welcoming. Always impressive when you learn from the staff about food and wine. Our server was excellent and very informative. Able to cater our experience to our preferences. Very flexible. Critique that I voiced to the server: the food runner delivered our dishes in a timely manner and paced well with our experience. Also, knowledgeable in the ingredients, dish descriptions, and recommendations on how to eat, however just speaking a bit too fast which made it hard to understand everything that was said. Advised just to slow it down, which is easier said than done in what can be a fast-paced environment. We noted Chef Travis and our server informed us he was, and always is, consistently there. To our surprise, Chef came to our table to chat and we got to give our praise first hand + a photo! Fleurette is a special place that blends French cuisine with California ingredients. Keep doing what you are doing Chef. Oui!

    My 2nd time coming to this place, the chef Travis is from Daniel out of NYC which I have been a few times, and knocked my socks off every single time! The staff here are so amazing, I asked the 1st server how the interview process was to work here? They said they had to write the 3 page menu verbatim, and handle guest's energy whether they are in a hurry, not in a great mood, or happy as a clam. And how they had to match that energy. The food runners were also amazing and things ran like clockwork. Food was all beautifully prepared, and the taste was a gustatory pleasure for my palate. I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant and the experience it brings. For sure will be coming back often.

    Fleurette strikes that rare balance of being high-end, chic, and genuinely welcoming. Service was exceptional. Our server was kind, patient, and deeply knowledgeable about the menu - even with a large work dinner table, everything was handled smoothly and without a hint of stress. Also, not to be overlooked - the staff looked straight out of a fashion campaign The menu is thoughtfully curated with an extensive wine list. The in-house breads, served warm, were a standout and set the tone for the rest of the meal. I was a vegetarian that week so didn't order a lot but the risotto was amazing! All in all, a polished dining experience that absolutely justifies the price point.

    Had a very good dinner at Fleurette and would definitely go back. Also nice bonus is that parking is validated if you park in the La Jolla Commons garage right next to the restaurant off Executive Dr. Seating is very comfortable and relaxed. The Duck Liver & Bone Marrow Pâté was excellent. Light, creamy, mildly buttery, and really good with the fennel marmalade, citrus puree, and thin slices of brioche toast. My only small issue is that the pâté portion is generous enough that one or two more slices of toast would have been nice. The Garganelli alla Genovese was probably my favorite dish of the night. The hand-rolled garganelli was absolutely delicious, and the braised wagyu beef was superb. It had a rich, nicely caramelized flavor, and the whipped ricotta on top (asked for on the side, as seen in my photo) added a really nice creamy contrast to the acidity of the ragù. We also had the Côte de Boeuf, which had a great presentation and was brought out pre-cut, then taken back for additional cutting before being served again a few minutes later. It had decent marbling, really nice seasoning, and a good crust. The portion is large enough to feed about two to four people. That said, some parts were a little tough to slice and also a little tough to chew, so for me it didn't quite live up to the price. There was also a simple green salad with a light vinaigrette that paired well with the richer dishes. For dessert, the Milk Chocolate & Hazelnut Mille-Feuille was a real treat. Flaky, delicious, and definitely right in my wheelhouse since I'm a sucker for hazelnut desserts. Overall, really enjoyable dinner. The pâté and especially the garganelli were the standouts for me.

    We had high expectations given our friends rave reviews. I think we hit them on an off night (Saturday). They seated us at the second table near the bar. It never felt like we were in a restaurant, especially after walking through an office park. The service was slow. Not as in romantic and perfectly timed, but more like they forgot to bring us water and drinks took forever to show up. That could have been cancelled out if the food was perfect, which it was not. The dishes meant to be served hot were served warm which is a real buzz kill. We will try again and hopefully I will update/upgrade the review accordingly.

    What a place. Incredible. As if you are eating inside a museum. The exterior of Fleurette is very foreign, very European, very modern. Like a cool gallery or a nice café. Immediately you notice the yellow doors- which change shades as the sun sets. They have an outdoor covered patio- very French, very pretty. As you walk in you, you are immediately greeted by the hostess and two portraits of his mentors. Very cool. To the left of the restaurant you'll find booths with beautiful pond lily lights. Our party of two got seated on a booth/chair combo and I had a full view of the beautiful kitchen. How cool. I immediately, well not immediately, I took my time and eventually looked up and wondered where is Chef Travis. I didn't see him right away. A few staff members came to our table as soon as we were seated. A very competent waitress introduced us to the menus and took our order. Again, she was very knowledgeable. I started with a glass of a French red and move on to a California red, both good. We started our meal with the following: Kanpachi & Carrot "Cru"- the kanpachi was absolutely beautifully served. It felt sinful to eat it or even touch it. Beef Tartare a la "Nicoise"- Hmm I've had better, but not bad. I believe the presentation really threw me off on this one. Sheep's Milk Ricotta Gnocchi- Fun to eat for sure, the sugar snap peas crack when you bite them and as a non sugar snap pea eater, it's kind of cool to have them in your meal Roasted Golden Chicken- This was the- hate to say this- true disappointment- the skin was done to perfection, but the chicken itself was dry. What can I say, we've been spoiled by the Aleppo. At some point during my meal I looked up and saw Chef Travis Skiward. I'm a big fan of his work. I visited his first restaurant, Callie, a while back and it's still my favorite San Diego restaurant. Congrats Chef on the beautiful execution of your second restaurant. I wish you happiness and lots of success.

    We were really looking forward to visiting Chef Travis Swikard's newest restaurant, Fleurette, which was opened 3 months ago. It is located in business district area near UTC mall. ** PLEASE NOTE: Look for entrance for "La Jolla Common" off Executive Drive for the valet and self parking for Fleurette (you should be able to see Fleurette on sign). If you park in correct parking structure, Fleurette can validate your parking slip. ** Give yourself some time to locate it (just entering Fleurette's address in Google Maps doesn't help and may get you to incorrect parking structure which gets no validation). Fleurette is easily recognizable in a triangle-shaped glass building with canary-yellow double doors. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in French Mediterranean colors of olive green, azure blue, turquoise, yellow, and terra cotta and wood. The floor to ceiling windows floods the restaurant with light and views of greenery from outside. Our servers (Chloe and Lana) were welcoming and helpful with recommendations. Between each course, we were presented with new set of plates and utensils. We ordered several mocktails, such as Provence and Eze, and we had the bartender customize a couple more cocktails. They all had unique flavors, and prices ranged from $18-26. We really enjoyed the Duck Liver and Bone Marrow Pate ($32) which is accompanied by a dollop of winter citrus sauce, fennel marmalade and 4 slices of brioche toast. It was delicious (if you like pate). We wished there were more toast for the pate. Next, we ordered the Garganelli alla Genovese ($38) which is 24-hour braised Wagyu shank ragu with freshly made pasta and caramelized onion and ricotta. It was perfectly al dente and very flavorful. For entree, we ordered the recommended 32 oz Dry Aged Flannery Boeuf ($160, for 2-3 people) which was first shown to us before it was sliced, and then it was brought back sliced and served with roasted onions and garlic. Before coming, we researched this dish and read glowing reviews of it. Our server commented that it was the best beef she ever had. So, anticipation and expectation were high. What we had was very fatty and resembled a prime rib from any other restaurant. We just didn't think it was very special for that price! We finished with a Mille Feuille dessert with stracciatella ice cream, which was very good with its nuts and hazelnut cream. So the meal ended on a good note after all.

    I was in town for a work meeting from Sonoma county and we have family in Del Mar so we ended up grabbing dinner here the other evening and it was a pleasant surprise. Many of the restaurants we have eaten in locally are large and quite lovely inside but the meals are largely generously priced but not matching in quality or originality. That wasn't the case here at Fleurette. It certainly was a lovely open kitchen surrounding an amazing stove in the middle and the service staff and meal were top notch. Even the somm was helpful with a spot on selection that seemed fairly priced as well. We had a number of shared dishes including this whole roasted chicken which is something I honestly would never consider ordering but in this case it was a solid choice and quite yummy. The desserts are also something I would normally skip but the young lady making the palate cleanser and the desserts also nailed it. Overall a solid selection and we will definitely return, esp now that I'm working in the area and visiting on a regular basis! Well done Fleurette ! Seriously !

    Oddly tucked into a UC Office Park... Fleurette is one of those rare rooms where the staff feels like your extended posse. Not in the loud, overfamiliar way, but in that intuitive, tuned in rhythm where they read your pace, your appetite, your curiosity, and shape the entire night around it. They anticipate instead of interrupting. They move with confidence instead of choreography. It's hospitality with actual soul. The meal builds slowly and deliberately. The kitchen knows exactly when to flex and when to whisper. The prosciutto profiteroles are a quiet showstopper. A little gift from the chef to welcome us. Golden shells filled with truffle and gherkin, followed by a cream sauce that hits like a secret handshake. The beet ribbons are a visual flex. Magenta curls over a creamy base with citrus and herbs. Light, bright, and confident. The sweetbreads are tender and deeply savory, sitting in a sauce that ties the whole dish together. Bread, oil, tapenade. Simple, salty, perfect. The duck breast arrives with a glossy reduction and a coriander crust that cracks under the knife. The greens are clean and honest. The kind of dish that only works when a kitchen has nothing to hide. The wagyu pasta is rich and silky, the entire table was emotionally moved by this dish. Someone may or may not have wept tears of regret that they spent 50 years on this planet and only now have tasted this. The garganelli is its counterpoint, creamy with the taste of the ocean imparted by a dollop of SD uni, the kind of plate that makes you forget to talk for a minute. Right before dessert, they drop a palate cleanser served inside a lemon. Bright, aromatic, and refreshing. A tiny reset that signals the final act. Dessert is lavender and honey. Soft, floral, and calming. A gentle landing after a long arc of flavor. The cocktails deserve their own paragraph. The Coronado is a brown butter bourbon situation that feels like it was designed around my palate. And the ice cube stamped with their duck mascot is pure unadulterated swagger. The Del Mar is glowing and green, crisp, and refreshing. Fleurette is the rare spot where the food is exceptional, the pacing is dialed in, and the team makes you feel like you've been coming there for years. It isn't just dinner. It's a night that stays with you.

    My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Fleurette and the experience as excellent. We had early reservations (we generally eat earlier than most - 530pm). We used valet to park which was nice and only $10. The restaurant itself is great. the ambiance is quite nice and I like the look of the bar. The food itself was all excellent. We started with a few appetizers of a gluten-free pasta and beet salad. We then ordered the duck and wagyu and everything was cooked perfectly. The drinks were also spot on but I do wish they had a few more options on the menu. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. it is certainly not a cheap place to eat but as a special occasion it is quite a great option to have in the area.

    No because it would scare too many away. Assume $35-$50 per appetizer and $70-$130 per main course. Most portions are not large enough to share with more than two people. A party of 3 needs 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. A party of 4 needs 3 appetizers… Read more

The Cabernet sauce was excellent and offered a great depth of flavors. The dish also came with tender carrots, sweet pearl onions, and white mushrooms. All of them were perfect. The beef was rendered down beautifully and had great color and was very tender to the touch. The beef offered exceptional preparation and was an absolute pleasure to eat with the Cabernet sauce. Well done chef. I was treated to a house soufflé which was excellent. It hit all the notes: light, soft, and airy, but packed with flavor. The sauce that came along with it was very good. My friends, who are regulars here, were very pleased with their dishes as well. I have to say, both of their dishes looked amazing. The hospitality at this French Bistro is first rate. All the employees, including the owner, were very amiable and welcoming. They aim to provide an excellent dining experience and that's what they do. However, it was still very enjoyable. One thing to note is that although it says on Yelp that dogs are allowed, it's actually service dogs only. Overall, the service was excellent, the food came out quickly (under ten minutes after ordering), and the happy hour is a great deal.

We didn't have any room for dessert so we didn't try anything. Service was warm, friendly and helpful.
