First timers here!! Our family was able to visit Memphis, TN for Christmas and while everything else was closed, we passed a nice arcade bar that was open. FlipSide! Let's start by saying this location was amazing; Family-friendly; the environment was comfortable with great lighting. There may have been about 20 people max which gave the opportunity to really enjoy. The location isn't huge but was super nice. Pinball is a classic so for my child to enjoy this it was epic. And THEY STILL HAVE TOKENS!! Other great features: tv with the sports games on, dart boards, clean bathrooms, outdoor seating on the patio, and great drinks at the bar. The only reason this location received a 3-star with such an awesome experience was due to the food. We ordered Quesadillas since they were out of several menu items and they were extremely salty. I mean extremely! Presentation was nice & food was fresh; but when we notified the cook... he offered us ranch dressing for it tacos to "mello-out" the salt because he had made such a huge batch of meat he can't remake them. I wouldn't yet say "eat before you come" because I will come back to update the review and just hope Santa dropped the salt off his sled when flying thru. Otherwise, this place is a must try.

Flip Slide is a great spot to bring friends to. They have tons of games to play like pinball, pool, and darts. Definitely a unique spot worth stopping by AT LEAST once to enjoy the fun and colorful atmosphere. Fair warning though, it can get pretty busy and there is limited seating. Plenty of people deal with this by holding their drinks and hanging around the games so you might have to navigate a crowded space depending on the night. They do have an outdoor back patio. The food is a step up from traditional bar food. All the expected favorites are there. The Nachos were very good and the large portion was great to set on the table and share with the group. Beer selection was great and varied! Make sure you bring coins or cash if you want to play the games. For parking I would suggest just parking in the Crosstown garage and making the short walk over. I would say you come for the experience more than anything. The food is good but it wouldn't be enough on its own to draw me in and although the games are fun you do have to pay for them each and that can add up fast with drinks and snacks.

I've had their tacos at late night, lunch, and dinner & they've been consistent . Huge plus that they are open late. I was hooked on the beef tacos for a while and the bartender told me the Barbacoa was her favorite, so I finally tried it and I was def missing out. I haven't switched since. Try it on corn tortilla, tooThe queso is great.. Spanish rice wasn't my favorite but the cilantro rice was much better. Drinks are standard. The vibe feels like it could be in midtown. This seems like a hidden gem. I hope they stick around bc The food is really good. Staff is very friendly as well.

My mom was able take us to this place three times while I was on vacation. The boys got their money's worth with the pinball machine. The ceasr salad was to die for and i don't even eat salads like that. The drinks are a hit or miss depending on the day and night shift. The service was quick even with them doing a separate party. Very laid-back chill place.

Owmed by the same people as Growlers on Poplar, Flip side has a fun atmosphere, nice rotation of pinball machines, changjng every few weeks, I think I remember. Some take two tokens, some take five, which feels very expensive for a turn at pinball. (1 token=$0.25) The drinks were good, and the bar service was surprisingly fast considering there was a tournament and lots of bodies to serve. The patrons were varied, teens to seniors, from all parts of town. This would be a great space for a private birthday or retirement party. I wish they had pricing for events on their web page.

This is a great place to hang with your friends or solo. Excellent craft beer selection and superior bar food. The service is good too.

UPDATE: Call before you go! Unfortunately the past two times I've gone, I've been greeted by a sign that says they're closed for a tournament. No post on FB or anything to give a heads up. Those two times, I had new perspective customers. The tournaments may keep the regulars coming back but new customers won't try again if they see a sign saying they're closed all the time...especially if they're driving a good distance to enjoy some pinball.

Neat little bar in midtown. Typical bar drinks (no drink menu) and a food menu. There's pinball, pool, and darts to play and a few TVs throughout to catch a game on. Cool atmosphere but a little overpriced. Park in the crosstown garage and walk over as there is likely to be no street parking.

Really fun spot with a mix of vintage and modern pinball machines. They also have a pool table and darts. Pretty much any local beer you want, they have. And you can't beat the barbecoa tacos

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

There is a large bar top with very nice barstools, a dinner style seating area, a small stage for performances, an area that can either be a dance floor or anything else, and a wonderful back area as a private lounge. The private lounge has privacy glass. It can be a VIP area, or a cigar lounge, or another venue space. There are restrooms for men and women. I was impressed with The Pocket layout. It is accessible from a wonderfully historic staircase from the Tailor's Union upstairs. I loved that at the beginning of the staircase coming down, there is an original fireplace in the brick wall of the stairwell, super original and very nostalgic to the space. Overall, I recommend this space for venues. I hope that they are bookable on Peerspace or another venue space site. Great experience.
