This is my second visit to Float Sixty NWI and really sad to hear this location is closing the end of December. This experience was even better than the first. I didn't get nauseous and completely enjoyed my entire float session. The tea again after my float session was magical and I bought some to take home with me. The area for drying your hair is filled with various products and a Dyson hairdryer....I loved it and it's probably going on my Christmas list now. Service: Nice, staff was very friendly and she had a really calming voice. She made the experience enjoyable as she was informative and inviting. Atmosphere: very siren and relaxing. Expectation: I didn't know what to expect, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the set up of the room and the floaty tub. The room was a nice size and intimate, they provided everything we needed, pre-soap to wash before the float, pre-Shampoo and post soap and conditioner. Towels, robe, vaseline (I advise that you use it you have any skin lesions as it will be a great protectant. If you have long thick hair bring something to secure a ponytail while you're in the tub and when you're leaving and you don't mind it getting wet. Overall: great experience, I would do it again next time I would prefer an earlier time slot. read more

Not impressed My 1st visit to float sixty was in 2022. I definitely didn't feel welcome or well informed. I tried reserving a float for my birthday 2023 & when I tried to enter a birthday code I received in an email....it instantly took me to check out & charged my cc on file. I called to question it & the lady said...."Hmmm, Ive never heard of a free float." Well, I have the email & still was not able to get a float. I asked for my charge to be refunded & it was, but was never allowed to use the email with the free float. Thats fine. Would not recommend for service. read more

a week ago NEW I was surprised with my experience. I approached the desk and the representative just stared at me no greeting. I stated I have an appointment at 6pm and gave my name. She asked if I'd been there before I answered yes. She got up and said a few words I didn't quite understand and I followed her to room#2 that I reserved. She backed out of the room and stated "I said I would get the room set up for you you can have a seat over there. Immediately I felt dumb and uncomfortable and unwelcomed like a child and not spoken to like an adult. I sat waited and requested an additional towel. There was specs of black things floating in my water however I didn't mention it because as I stated I felt uncomfortable with your front desk person. Once my time was up I exited room#2 passed the front desk in which in which the agent was not there I was relieved and hurried out the door. My previous two experiences was not like this. There isn't too many black people visiting here and I feel as though I was judged on how I would be treated because of this and the type hair I have especially with how she just stared at me instead of greeting me. I've purchased credits in advance other wise I wouldn't spend my money here again. I will try the location downtown Chicago next time and hoping for a greater experience. Its been my pleasure sharing my experience across the social media and my experience on yesterday! Was an incredible experience all around. I have been there twice now. I floated in one of the float cabins and the Aphelion Tank. Both times, the girls working were extremely helpful. On my first visit, one of the girls suggested maybe checking out the Aphelion Tank at some point, and she was right that was amazing. I definitely feel like this experience has helped. I've been feeling better lately than I have in a while, I've been sleeping better and a few less aches. I haven't yet checked out the other services offered. I'm definitely curious. read more

For those who are unfamiliar with cryotherapy: Cryotherapy is a pain treatment that uses a method of localized freezing temperatures to deaden an irritated nerve. Cryotherapy is a relatively safe and effective means of treating localized nerve irritation. I had knee surgery back in 2004 and decided to start running 3 years ago. I was introduced to this healing procedure by a friend in the running community. THE BEST THING EVER! I'm so glad that a facility opened up in Northwest Indiana. The particular facility is so cool and welcoming. Very clean and in a great location. I also love the fact that they are open 7 days a week. I love the fact that I can walk in and get a cryo session with no problem. The girls at facility are very knowledgeable about the sessions. My next session will be to try out floating. read more

Looking for a local floatation experience? I heard about Float Sixty from a member of my gym, and when I found out where it was located... knew I had to book my first session. Floating has been on my bucket list for several years. It was simply not worth the hassle for me to drive into Chicago. With Float Sixty just across the street from Franciscan Health Centers (my gym) and Whole Foods in Schererville, I had no excuse not to give it a try! I'd listened to a few podcasts about people's floats, but I still was unsure what to expect. The pics on the website definitely matched the experience I felt when walking through the door and getting the tour of the facility. The receptionist was approachable, helpful, and down-to-earth. She explained how to use the Wave Cabin, which is definitely not as intimidating as the "float tank" for first-timers. I was a bit worried about claustrophobia, but that dissipated after seeing the lighting features and the spaciousness of the room outside the float pool. It felt as if I had walked into a spa for introverts. What introvert doesn't dream of being alone in a room with their thoughts, undisturbed in silence?! And, all the health perks, too! Plenty of towels, ear plugs, ear cleaning solution, makeup remover, mini mirror for taking out my contacts and such, open overhead rain-type shower (nice!) Everything you need to have a good float as a newbie. And, if you want to do your hair afterwards, there's a big mirror and all kinds of hair products/blowdryers to use. I found that the other women who floated during the same time as I did just left with wet hair. It was almost like an unspoken code that "we all just floated." :) I have not tried the cryotherapy, but I did overhear a session in-progress while I was waiting in the post-float therapy nook. The practitioner seemed especially knowledgeable. I really enjoyed decompressing in the waiting area after my float. Lined with books that I know and love: Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss, The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday, and a dozen others. The tea I was offered afterwards hit the spot! Will I be back? Definitely. The girls there were super nice. A couple of issues though. We waited in the waiting room with about six others for at least 20 minutes to even be acknowledged. I had researched prior to going to float sixty. I had read pre menopausal and post menopausal women had some concerns. I could not float longer than 10 minutes due to a very uncomfortable burning sensation. My advice is if you are in post menopause you should research the issues before going. read more

Float Sixty was AMAZING from start to finish! We had a float appointment at 10 am on April 14th and we arrived a bit early to check in and get familiar with everything. Upon arrival, the owner, Gloria, was a star. She was so friendly at the check-in process and we even had a few friends in common (who have also floated!). When we were ready to begin our appointment she explained everything about the studio with such pride. You can tell by her enthusiasm that she is passionate about her work. She showed us the cryotherapy chamber which looked insane cool, literally. She also showed us where we would go after our float to freshen up. This area had fantastic products for men and women to use post float (Dyson hair dryer, Living Proof hair products). She showed us the bathroom, which was actually super gorgeous and had cleverly placed fish all over the walls. She explained the lounge space for our final stop post float. It was filled with a little couch, books, and pillows. Finally, we moved on to the float chambers. She took us in to see the giant float tank which is for more experienced floaters, but looked very inviting nonetheless. Next, we moved on to the regular float pools. There are three of these pool chambers in the studio. She explained the amenities inside which included a vinegar ear wash, q-tips, Vaseline, makeup remover wipes, and ear plugs. She led us in to the shower area to show us how to rinse before and after the float. She explained the lights and motion sensors and then let us each have our privacy. The float itself was absolutely wonderful. That's the only way I can explain it. I have a handful of health issues and not a single one ailed me while I floated peacefully. The water was the perfect temperature and my skin felt like silk the whole time. I left the light on maybe ten minutes before I got brave and just turned them all off. I then was just calm for the remainder of the time. Your mind goes into blankness and it is beyond relaxing. Had I not just woken up an hour beforehand, I probably would have fallen asleep (after a long day of work, FOR SURE!!). When the float was over, I exited the chamber and showered as instructed. There was plenty of towels and a nice robe to be used after you showered as well. I moved into the freshening up space and used some of the products to make myself look presentable to the outside world. Gloria and her assistant brought my husband and I water and some delicious steeped tea. Then we hung in the lounge space a few minutes checking out all the products and Buddha Board. Upon checkout, we decided we for sure need to come back! But the nice thing was, we weren't pressured into purchasing a package or hassled about booking again. The thing is, they don't need to. You WILL be back. You will want that peaceful hour again. I can't wait to book my next float at Float Sixty NWI!! read more

Definitely utilize at your own risk. Cryotherapy is an awesome alternative to help relieve minor body aches and pains. I have tight hips and Sciatica pain, so when I used the Cryo machine I felt relief. I liked it a lot better than a traditional ice bath to treat inflammation post workout. Would not suggest if you don't like the cold as the 3 minutes feels long, but you're also not required to stay in the machine for the full 3 minutes... . I had minimal irritation, unlike other reviewers. I will say it's nice to be able to stay completely dry while treating my aches and pains. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, will book another appointment to test out float tanks soon. read more

I bought a 60 minute session through Groupon, and am I glad I did. The facility was nicely laid out, the hosts were very attentive, and the individual room was well prepared for me (by that, I mean clean - although, during my overview in the room, the attendant actually walked in the shower with her shoes on to show me how the tank looked and operated). Here's the skinny of it, if you're considering buying a float session for the first time: the float session is 60 minutes in a tub chamber that's probably 5'x8' across and a 6' high ceiling at the entrance sloping to about 2' high above the water at the far end. Its not claustrophobic, but at first glance, it makes you pause, wondering about the experience. After you remove all your clothes (yes, all of them - apparently you don't want anything "weighing you down") and take a shower, you step into the chamber and lay back. You can use the foam ring for your head or not, but I think you should. Now that you're floating, you're looking for that, "ahhhhhh......" moment, but it never comes. You know, like the feeling that comes after you've finally gotten acclimated to the water in a hot tub? Yeah, that doesn't happen here. You simply float, on water, close your eyes, and relax. You may bump into the wall a few times, but so slowly and lightly that you almost barely notice it. Depending on your preference and comfort, you have the choice of leaving on the blue night light or turning it off for complete darkness. Personally, I never saw the benefit. I would have preferred to hear music or sounds playing and the water be super warm at least, or even hot, but I guess the whole point of sensory depravation is to not think about what you're feeling/hearing/seeing/smelling. I have absolutely NO NEED or DESIRE to return or recommend floating. The water massage tanks you see in high end malls are a better experience. read more

This was a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone. This was my first time "floating" here, or anywhere else, but I will definitely be back. I've never been a real receptive guy to any kind of spa experience. I've always thought massages were overrated. But this was different. The minute I got in that tank and the lights went out, I could almost feel my mind finding a different gear, detaching and relaxing. I'd been running that morning, and it felt great physically too, but the way this process almost forces you to relax and let go - that is worth every penny. The facility itself is great, if a little hard to find. Look for the big brick building behind steak 'n shake, looks like an office building. Inside it feels very much like a spa with all the kinds of things you would expect. The front desk people were great and thoroughly explained the process. The room with the tank contains a private shower so you shower and then hop right into the tank, in complete privacy. Do yourself a favor and give this a try. read more

Well after having two surgeries on both of my shoulders and going through therapy, my daughter Pam bought me 4 sessions of Cyrotheraphy for the latest surgery on my left shoulder. I had surgery about 2 months ago and going through therapy it did not progress too well. The surgery I had was a torn labium, the top bone was shaved done and I had major arthritis at the top of the bone. I went for one treatment and the next day I was measured at the therapists office and my Left shoulder Abduction went from a 84 degrees to 110 degrees improvement. I went back for a second treatment and have one more left so I am interested to see if this continues. The treatment is not as cold as an ice pack and only takes about 5 minutes. I suggested that they should have a senior discount because when you get to be a senior all those pains you never knew that you had come to life. Well this is my story and if you think this may help you I strongly suggest do a couple of treatments and see how it might reduce your aches and pains. read more

I have done 4 floats and am planning to do my next one soon. I love this experience. The facility is clean and the staff is excellent. I feel as though it is more beneficial after your 2nd or 3rd session because you truly learn how to relax and get the full benefits of the therapy. I try to visualize my session starting in the waiting area and taking the pre-shower, and ending with the 2nd shower. I have realized that essentially the entire process is therapeutic and is so much more than the 60 minute session. I definitely recommend purchasing the introductory package and wait to form an opinion until after you've done several sessions. I'm definitely considering the membership. A few more tips I'd like to make it a point to arrive a little early to unwind before your treatment and bring your own hairbrush/comb. (They provide the towels, shampoo, conditioner body wash for your showers, misc things you need for your float and a hairdryer and basic grooming stuff for after your shower.) read more
