If you look at my review history, you'll see that I usually write positive reviews. However, working with Flood Response has been one of the most painful and inefficient experiences. We had a flood in our home in LaQuinta more than a year ago. We hired Flood Response to handle the clean up. They sold us on their experience working with insurance agencies. So we also hired them to handle the rebuild. THAT WAS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE! It's been more than 13 months and we are still not finished. While insurance delays are certainly to blame - this company did nothing but cause more headache. In January, I threatened to move the rebuild to another company. They promised to have the rebuild completed by Coachella (April). It's November now and our house is still not back together. The company has been completely incompetent all around. -- Unreliable - They changed our general contractor a few months into the project after he had done zero. They new one was equally awful. -- Non communicative - They promised to send us weekly update emails to inform us of progress - didn't happen. -- Lazy - They've had our personal belongings in storage for 13+ months now. Our insurance was slow on approving an repair inspection, but once it happened, Flood Response told them they had the wrong couch (they didn't). It's now been 4 months since that inspection and we still don't have a report on repair. They also sent the report to a completely different insurance claims company. -- Crooks - during the rebuild, one of our water heaters exploded. We had them quote the repair and it was 4x the price of another vendor. BEWARE! They are terrible with insurance. They might be find for remediating a flood. BEWARE - Do not hire this company!! We urged Flood Response to do flood mitigation for us when we had a major flood at our home in Indio, California. We are snowbirds and were back up north when the flood occurred. Unfortunately we did not read the reviews on this company before hiring them or we never would, but we were in a panic. The first red flag should have been having to sign an open-ended contract with NO ESTIMATE of the cost. We were assured that this would not be an issue as our insurance company would pay and they were experienced in dealing with insurance companies. The second red flag was that the work was completed (but took over two months) and we still hadn't received a cost. Then when we finally got it the insurance company would only pay a portion of it as the costs were double what they should be for the work performed. The insurance company asked Flood Response to justify their bill but they never responded. The third red flag was their communication, or should I say total lack of it. They ignored our requests for any and all information. To make matters worse they convinced us to do the restoration work (this was before the issues came out about the mitigation costs) and assured us that we would not be out of pocket. Well, that was a disaster. They took 5 months to do the work. We have a very small house so this was a long time. Luckily, by this time we were back in Indio (we had to rent for several months) and could be onsite to see what was going on. People were there every day but very little was accomplished and most work was done so sloppily that it had to be redone. Again, their costs were well over industry standards. All they want to do is gouge the homeowner and their insurance company. I could go on and on about this problems we endured with them, but we finally got through the restoration and did have to pay them out of pocket but we did that to just to get rid of them. Then after almost a year from the flood, they said we owed them over $10,000 for the flood mitigation work and put a lien on our home. They will not respond to any calls or emails from us so we sent registered mail that has also not been acknowledged. Now we are going to have to fight them in court. Scott Young will probably respond to this review and say that he doesn't know who we are, as that is what he does for all the negative reviews. But he definitely knows who we are as he was our main project manager. read more

Totally disillusioned with Flood Response. I purchased a vanity, taps for vanity, shower door, flooring and all tile for the shower. Purchased extra flooring for the bedroom (not covered by insurance) measured by Alex. Cost of these items is about $2200.00. Insurance company paid out (1) vanity - $869 (2) shower doors - $675 (3) Flooring $2056 (includes labour). This was paid to Flood Response ($3600). We were not reimbursed. We were told told extra things were done, but when we asked for cost breakdown, Nada. In addition ,several other items were paid by Insurance company that weren't done. Window trim in living room, $2292 and moving/installing mini split $395. They won't provide the cost to put in shower instead of tub/shower combo. Insurance allowed $2131. Shower door would be needed either way. The master bedroom flooring was an extra 48 square feet. A meeting with Alex and Luz was held, but their decision of no refund for our out of pocket expenses had already been made, so was a waste of time. Subsequent emails, texts were a waste of time with little response. To date no breakdown of costs of so,called extras. read more

The only reason why I didn't give them a 1 is that they responded right away when the flood happened. It was downhill from then on. They promised me they would work close with insurance and get my condo back together quickly. It's been over 5 months and I finally fired them and hired my own contractor to finish the job. They are up most of the reconstruction budget on drywall and paint repair leaving me almost both for cabinet and counter replacement in my kitchen and bathroom. I have asked for a summarized bill for what was charged and they refused saying it was provided to insurance. They rarely gave status reports and I was having to call them to push. Ashley and Brianna were fantastic, but we had 6 different people working on our small bathroom repair. Everytime a guy was pulled off the job for another project. Flood Response to the rescue. After a debacle with another contractor I came to Flood Response begging for help. From the beginning the experience was great. Working with admin staff was pleasant, the assigned project manager (Jimmy) was truly world class, and the team doing the labor were all friendly, professional and did very nice work. For me, I find the blue tape process at the end, a great gauge of a contractor. Not only were there very few touchups needed, they did the touchups, quickly and without hassle. We had a slab leak of a pipe in our guest bathroom. Flood response was the company that was recommended for us to use. They were not honest. They did not remove the towel rack or the toilet paper roll holder or the shelves, yet they charged us for it on the invoice. The only place they painted was a small portion of the wall where the holes was and yet they charged us for painting the whole bathroom. After many phone calls and them arguing with me on the phone about it I explained that I would get an affidavit from the people that are staying there and take them to small claims court. They finally removed the charges. The scam is I believe is if that would've went to the insurance company fo a payment the insurance company would not have known this information and they would've just paid for the work that this company did not do. Run Away. We had a small patch of mold in the bathroom. They gave us a quote of $1200 to fix. They came and got rid of the mold after taking apart our bathroom and putting a hole in the wall behind the cabinet where the mold was. After the mold was gone they handed us an estimate of nearly $5000 to put the cabinet back together and fix the hole! Complete and total rip off.
