Awful, awful experience. A true nightmare. They charged tens of thousands of dollars and messed up…read morebasically every aspect of our bathroom remodel. Given multiple opportunities to fix their problems, they did not. Extremely sloppy, low quality work. The work on the bathroom was clearly done by someone who has never seen a bathroom or used one, much less built one before. The shower leaks, the tile was so crooked and bumpy it had to be ripped out twice, the radiators were badly reinstalled and dripped water down through the floors into to kitchen below, the walls and ceilings they built are not straight or square, the sink handles immediately fell off, they caused a $1000 plumbing clog and our basement to flood with sewage by flushing construction debris down our toilet. Instead of replacing pipes, they kept the old pipe which we had asked them to replace, and then tried to hide and cover it up. They would also show up unannounced and let themselves into our home on days when they had not told us they would be coming or that we were supposed to expect anyone to be in our house. So on multiple occasions I would hear an unexpected noise and I'd look over and see someone in my house who I had never seen before in my life. And every time we raised an issue to them, they either ghosted us or tried to convince us it was fine and that their work had been done correctly. I have pictures to document all of these issues. I will never let anyone from DMV enter my house again and I will tell everyone I can to never do business with this company. Scammers, liars, incompetent, I hope they go out of business.

Everything started out smoothly. Jacob arrived to my house and we discussed the project we wanted…read moredone. Replace laminate flooring with carpet for the majority of our basement. Carpet was supposed to go all the way to the pillar shown in the picture. Jacob explained that due to where the laminate was installed, they were able to get very close to the pillar, roughly 1 inch away. We agreed to this and a quote was received and approved. When the installers arrived, I explained to them everything as I explained to Jacob, including installation up to the pillar. They asked if they were doing the stairs too, and I said no. This should have been the first red flag of miscommunication. When the work was done, I noticed that the carpet did not reach the pillar as we have discussed. It was roughly 2 vinyl planks away (over a foot away!). The installers told them Jacob only told them 17ft installation, not to the pillar. Which was odd, since I specifically told the installers that it should have gone up to the pillar. If there were some confusion, why did they not ask me about it? At this point, it was too late to fix. Jacob arrived and confirmed it as supposed to go the pillar, and further confirmed that it was too late to do anything. By failing to remove all the vinyl planks up towards the pillar, this also caused the end of the carpet to not be able to be tucked under the laminate. Now there is an area of the carpet that sticks out as well, also shown in the picture. Finally, our basement has a step down area. By removing the laminate, it exposed a gap in my baseboard. I would have hoped that the installers would have asked us how to proceed, rather than just ignoring it and proceeding. So now I have more imperfections due to the carpet installation. At the end of the day, the carpet was mostly installed as we requested. Just wished that the communication would have been better. Now I am stuck with imperfections in my basement. The ironic part is, the leftover roll of carpet they provided me would have been enough to cover the area they failed to install.

From the start, Tile Center made this piece of our process easy and pleasant, and we love the outcome. As project manager, Joe was incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with. He came to our house very quickly after our initial outreach, returned later with grout samples, and walked us through options at the showroom. He always responded quickly to emails and texts. He helped us navigate tile shortages and advised us when we needed to order from a third party. Thomas, the installer, was also fantastic. His work is beautiful, and on top of that, he was just incredibly lovely to be around. He not only tolerated, but was awesomely kind to, our very loud and unhelpful dog! He also went above and beyond dealing with various issues that arose. James, who came on one of the days, was also great. On top of everything else, we really appreciated how both Joe and Thomas worked things out so that we could live in the house throughout the installation. The work the team did was beautiful and a great value for the price. We went a little over 10% over budget, which is just about what I expected for a project like this, and I was pleasantly surprised that we actually finished a few days early. The work comes with a 3-year warranty too (which we needed in the past and have had no trouble using), which gives extra peace of mind. Each person on the project - Elena the project manager, Juan the site supervisor, Alexa the designer, John the estimator, and especially the lead technician Cornelio was a pleasure to work with. As with any renovation, there are always surprises and hiccups along the way, but the team handled everything professionally, even when I was stressed and occasionally cranky. One thing of particular note was how much the team was willing to work with me when the inevitable surprises came up. There are things that nobody can foresee, which usually results in a change order and extra cost, but then there are those little things where everyone leaves a conversation with a different impression. In those latter instances, I always really appreciated how willing everyone was to meet me halfway and to make sure I felt good about how things were going and confident that we were doing right by each other. James understood my priorities and limited budget, we settled on a few color combinations and design elements, then I took home sample tiles to see how they looked in the sunlit room throughout the day. After a month to let the decisions settle, the contractor was setup and the materials ordered. Very important: the contractor worked directly with Mid-Atlantic, I never had to be in the middle to relay installation assistance or anything ever (including ordering a few extra tiles when we had to add a seat to the design after finding in demolition that under the tub the stairway ceiling encroached into the bathroom floor space.) All materials were politely delivered on time, James was always available for my appointments, he worked seamlessly through the COVID shutdown, and they even accepted returns of a few unused pieces to get them out of my garage. Highly recommend, there were way too many choices and gotchas to approach the design on my own. Working with a professional was the way for me. Recommended!
