We had earlier installed oak flooring in our kitchen, dining area and entry after the Northridge earthquake. Extremely efficient and pleasant experience! After trying to get some quotes from other companies, I came across Flooring 101 Thousand Oaks and gave them a call. I came into this process with zero expectations/ideas so Keressa suggested I come to the store. After showing her some photos of my rooms, she picked out a few samples that I could bring home to compare. Not only that, but she was able to come out a few hours later to complete measurements as well. I had my quote in hand the next morning and scheduled the installation less than a week later. This was also a case where searching online prepared me for the worst and ended with a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a price and it ended up being basically half of that and included furniture movement, carpet removal, baseboard adjustment, and installation. On installation day, Memo and his two brothers showed up exactly at the scheduled time and immediately walked through all of the rooms and pointed out potential problem areas and asked me how I would like certain things done. Once things were squared away, they just got to work and managed to crank out four rooms in about five hours! I was just hanging out in the kitchen with my dogs the whole time and when they were done all the furniture was back exactly where it started and all the flooring looked spectacular. Literally my only "complaint" is due to my own laziness. There was a fine layer of dust everywhere as they used a grinder of sorts to level the concrete flooring first. The quote had actually provided LOTS of good information and one bit there that I consciously ignored was the suggestion to cover everything with tarp/plastic because of the dust. So if you don't want to wipe everything down afterwards, make sure to follow their instructions... Whoops. Overall, excellent experience and very polite/professional staff all around. I checked out the "About us" video on the flooring101.com website, and was impressed by the founder, the company history, and their commitment to installing quality products to achieve high customer satisfaction. When my wife and I met Keressa at the store, she asked us what type of flooring we were interested in, and showed us multiple options. We made some selections, and asked her input regarding quality and price. She let us take some samples home so we could view them in various rooms with different lighting conditions. At every step of the process, Keressa was very professional and personable. We made a selection and ordered a sample box. When I went to the store to get the sample, an older gentleman helped load it into my vehicle. Keressa introduced him as the founder of the company, and I realized yes - this was the person I saw in the video. It surprised me that the founder of the company was such a humble servant - willing to load a box of wood flooring into the car. I also met the senior installer - who has been with Flooring 101 for over 20 years. He and his whole crew were very skilled, professional, and courteous. He asked me prior to leaving each day if I had any concerns or questions. Flooring is not a cheap endeavor, and the process of tearing up old hardwood and scraping old glue off concrete, then grinding the remaining glue off the floor - is a messy, loud, and dusty operation. The team worked more rapidly than I expected, and completed the entire job (old floor tear out, new floor and baseboard installation) in two days. Amazing. We had our floors installed the last week of August and our house was left a disaster zone. They didn't even attempt to clean up after themselves The screens and windows required a deep cleaning as they never blew or cleaned up any of the sawdust outside and the wind just blew all the leftover mess they left in the house as they left the front door and windows open while cutting, the inside was left unacceptable and just disappointing (see pics). In a nutshell, the house was left in such disarray it took a $670 deep cleaning service from Castle Cleaners for a 1800sf house. Our baseboards, window seals, upholstery, etc. had saw dust and residue just caked everywhere. This doesn't even take into account how the crew thought it was appropriate to dump the left over floor glue in our flower bed, pieces of baseboards draped over our fence after they left and other trim pieces spread throughout our patio and front yard. I like to think we are pretty easy going and willing to work with people, but this was simply not acceptable. We are now out an additional $670 over our flooring cost to clean up the mess the crew left our home in due to their blatant disregard and lack of care. We did escalate this to Ross our salesperson on August 31st who expressed concern so was hoping not to have to post this review. However they have not responded to us and based on their lack of response to our feedback via email, phone and in person over this I felt others should know PS--All the photos of sawdust are from my downstairs area of the house. While I have recommended the Oxnard f101 store in the past, I have to express my disappointment with the thousand Oaks store on my latest flooring job. Originally scheduled as a day and half job for 8/11 & 8/12, but because another job ran over had my job bumped to start 8-10a on 8/12 BUT assured me that they would get a team on it that could do both the carpet and vinyl in the same day. One (uno) subcontractor shows up at 1045a and said he was scheduled to arrive between 9-11a and quickly pulls up the old carpet and tack board and then leaves at 1130 to haul away the old stuff and pick up the new carpet. Before he leaves mentions that he has to come back on Saturday to finish the vinyl but that he could carpet all in today before 4p which is when I have to leave. As of 2p today no sign of him coming back. Just called the store and was told he is on his way. Not impressed at all. read more

Wow!! We have been dealing with Scott and Ross for over a month now picking out exactly what we wanted for our upstairs four bedrooms. Today was installation day!!! After busting our butts for the last three days getting everything ready the crew came in and overwhelmed. They were professional, prepared and courteous. They even brought down my wife's "Mad money" stash she forgot under the mattress of our bed. The end result is to die for. Perfect for our home. We just re-did our baseboards and stair rails and they damaged nothing!! We shopped around and will not name name names but would recommend them to everyone who asks. Biggest mistake I've made was to select Flooring 101 Thousand Oaks to purchase and install wood floor for a client. As their name indicates, you would think they would know the basics about installing a hardwood floor, and even more so, because that's all they do. Not so! The first thing they did wrong was install transition pieces that were literally 1/2" thick, causing a tripping hazard. When I asked them to come take a look, there were about four men standing around scratching their heads about how to fix it, when finally I made a suggestion to which they replied 'that might be a good idea'. They didn't install or bid for subfloor in a bedroom where carpet was being replaced with wood, which was supposed to transition seamlessly from the hallway. So you literally had to step down into the bedroom from the hallway. When called out to remedy the problem, Ian (regional manager?) explained that they would just use the wood floor as a subfloor. He never talked about charging the client. But in a phone call to Ian after all was said and done, he claimed that he did talk to the client about it and she agreed to pay. When I asked the client if this happened, she told me no such conversation ever happened. They installed 1/4" round where there already was 1/4" round. Looked ridiculous. I had them remove it. They left glue on the wood and places that needed to be touched up. When the painter was prepping to paint the walls, he brought to our attention that some of the 1/4" round wasn't even nailed to the wall. There were gaps where the wood was supposed to butt up to the sliding glass door jamb. In total, we had to have them come out to fix things THREE TIMES. You would think that having to come back to make repairs even once, they would make sure everything else was perfect. Yeah...no. Customer service, professionalism, pride in a job well done.....what's that???? There is so much more I could write here, but this is too long already. You've just done yourself a great favor by taking the time to read this and to choose one of the thousands of other flooring companies who will no doubt do a better job than these jokes. read more

I usually don't leave bad reviews however I can't not this time. I bought flooring before from this location that my contractor put in a few years ago. I wanted to stay with the same floor upstairs. I needed to do 4 bedrooms I decided to have the store install the flooring what a mistake. They were loud and extremely messy. Didn't cover any furniture or my clothes in the closet. I asked for molding in 1 bedroom that they put up in pieces it looked terrible Not 1 piece without terrible seams. They charged me for 5 pieces and only used 3 when they came back the following day because I refused to sign off on the job they fixed the molding. When I spoke to my sales person missy she asked if I read the contract they don't clean up or cover anything. They also didn't leave any extra flooring. I should get what I paid for. The floor looks fine however I'm with out any extra floor in case something happens and it seems like no one really cared about the job. It saddens me that companies really don't care once you pay for the job. read more

I'm giving 1 star because the sales team was friendly and helpful. Installations, however, have been terrible. We had them put tile in our bathrooms, and shortly after completion the tile started coming up in the master bathroom. Flooring 101 did respond and made it right, removing and reinstalling the tile, so we went back to have carpeting done. The carpet installation has been a nightmare. First, the carpet showed loops coming up out of the pile. Took a month to get a response. Now we have carpeting on the stairs and landing bunching up, like the pad underneath wasn't secured or something. We've sent pictures twice and we're coming up on a month with no action to correct the issue. Next time we'll go somewhere else. read more

Once we were ready for install, we got a date a few days later. The guys showed up when they were expected and worked very hard all day. The carpet install was as expected! I went to showroom sept 4 and after measuring was advised we could install sept 23. Sept 20 I was called by Installation dept and told I was never given that date. So they had trouble with their scheduling and I was given date of Oct 5. I called Hector the sales person and he had many excuses. Finally asked if I could do sept 30 then called back and told that doesn't work either. After calling the manager Ian we finally agreed on sept 30 between 8-10. They were late and I was told they couldn't finish the job in a day. Never told this by the salesperson who came to my house and measured and knew what was required. The whole process was a nightmare and communication was horrible. I would not recommend theM to anyone . read more
