I had to replace some carpeting (2 rooms) due to water damage. I wanted to match my existing carpeting in the other rooms. Unfortunately the original carpet was no longer available. I went to two local carpet stores but it was clear they were not too interested since I was only doing a relatively small amount of carpeting. Mario had the patience and took the time to find the closest match possible both in color and texture. Most important he let me pick from all the choices, no hard pressure sales tactics. They cleaned up after themselves and even wiped down furniture from the dust of the tile. They put up plastic to prevent dust everywhere. I went in to Flooring 101 to see what laminate flooring options they had and what prices I might be looking at. I was in the market to replace 3 bedroom carpets (555 SqFt) with flooring. The salesperson was quick, responsive, and mostly helpful. The showroom had great options, and the ability to take samples home was great. Ultimately we didn't go with Flooring101 and instead went with Ventura Flooring, for the following reasons: 1) They were incredibly difficult to get prices from. They could not tell me how much a style of flooring would cost through them, before labor, without doing a house inspection. To be able to evaluate and compare their prices requires that I first schedule a measurement, provide then my contact info, etc, etc. This is a disservice to me and the shop. For me I am forced to spend much more time and energy just to get a cost to evaluate the value of their services. I feel that there is a lack of transparency when I am told, "We cannot provide pricing for just the price of a style of flooring without doing an inspection". Ultimately I didnt go with them for this and the next reason, so we just wasted a week of everyone's time here. Even if the next reason didnt exist, before getting quotes this upset me. 2) Bad value. Once I got the pricing, I compared it to the pricing I got from Ventura Flooring. For the same exact CoreTEC flooring, here were the quoted prices: Flooring101: $4.50 per SqFt (550SqFt, $2625 for material only) Ventura Flooring: $3.89 per SqFt (555 SqFt, $2158.95 for material only) read more

He was very efficient in measuring each room during his on-site visit and his cost estimate was well explained with no sales pressure in any way. I bought flooring for my main bedroom from Michael and he was great in the show room and completing the order. The installation had been a total disaster. The floor is not level, molding is a mess and the team from flooring 101 left trash all over my yard. I called Michael and he made excuses before even hearing the main problem. It has taken me 3 weeks of constant calling and a visit from the installer who agreed it needed to be fixed. They have made two appointments so far and have not shown up for either of those appointments and Micheal does feel that is a problem. Stay away from this business. read more
