We had a wonderful experience with our flooring purchase, especially working with Ray. He was extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. My husband and I have very different preferences when it comes to colors, so choosing the right flooring wasn't easy. Ray took the time to listen to both of us and guided us toward a color that worked beautifully with our home. We absolutely love how the flooring turned out! Several of our friends have commented that it makes our home look brighter, more airy, and modern. We installed the waterproof laminate flooring directly over our existing tile, and it worked beautifully. This saved us a significant amount on labor costs. The quality of the McMillian flooring is also excellent. We've accidentally dropped a heavy hammer on it and have moved heavy furniture across it, and there are no dents, scratches, or marks. I rarely give 5 star reviews for any business. I am a contractor myself and pride myself on doing the best job I can at all times but - in this case - I must share my experience with you. I cannot recommend UHF highly enough. Sean the salesman was brilliant to deal with from the get go. Honest, reasonable and easy to communicate with. The product he suggested to us is top notch. here's the thing though with flooring - it's all about the skill of the installers and their crew was top notch. They were always on time, were polite, cleaned up every day and their craftsmanship was outstanding. LAYING FLOORS IS NOT EASY - but these guys made it look effortless. From Juan the foreman to Jeff the GC - my experience was first rate. My wife actually cried when she saw the end result. The crew spent a LONG time making sure that my wonky subfloors were level and I even contracted the GC to paint all the baseboards and new trim. I cannot recommend them too much - go there, ask for Sean and know that you are in the best hands. They weren't the cheapest and they weren't the most expensive- they were the BEST!! read more

I had never heard of United Wholesale Flooring until we purchased our newest home over the summer and when it came down to remodeling it I was referred from my realtor. Her suggestion was truly a "God" send especially after meeting Ray who works there. Ray walked us through their showroom multiple times always totaling his time teaching my husband and I about all various types of flooring i.e. laminate, vinyl, engineered wood etc. My husband and I were blown away by his knowledge and expertise. He was also extremely personable and easy to talk to. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM UNITED WHOLESALE FLOORING. I lost my home in the Pacific Palisades fire. My builder suggested I select flooring from this store. The designer and I met with the sales rep, Ray. We narrowed the selection of engineered wood to 2 products. One was 2 mm thick and the other Tescon DaVinchi 4 mm thick. Ray said the 2 mm product could be refinished once and the more expensive 4 mm product could be resurfaced 2-3 times. I selected the more expensive 4 mm product because it could be refinished 2-3 times. A few weeks later I tried reaching Ray to get a sample of the product to use while selecting other items to go into my rebuild. Ray did not get back to me, so I called the manufacturer. In my conversation with the manufacturer, the representative, Peter, confirmed the product was only 3 mm and could NOT be refinished more than once. (2-3 mm thickness can be refinished once and 4-5 mm 2-3 times). My builder called Ray and requested we exchange for 4 mm thickness as he represented when Ray sold the flooring. I also spoke with Ray and told him I am willing to work with him on an exchange, but he misrepresented what he sold, and I am not putting a product in the house that could only be refinished once. He said he would get back to me. I never heard back. My builder finally reached him and Ray said he would not exchange or give us a refund. He blamed it on the manufacturer. How can the manufacturer be at fault when the box was clearly marked 3 mm. The manufacturer, Tescon, said Ray misrepresented the product specifications. We now have to buy flooring from another company while we continue to request a refund and explore other channels to get a refund from United Wholesale Flooring. SHAMEFUL of this company to lie like this and REFUSE to make it right, especially to a fire victim after losing literally everything she owns in the fire. read more

Peter was our salesman and also conducted measurements of our flooring. With our bathrooms being tile we had a 3/4" gap that needed to be filled to achieve a proper install of our carpet. Initially there was miscommunication of this detail and the installers didn't have the proper wood pieces to account for the 3/4inch gap. Understandably, I was disappointed that the carpet wouldn't be able to be properly installed. I called Peter and told him this. He was able to have a second team come and properly finish the job the following day. I appreciate Peter making the effort to correct the job. I'm very happy with the quality of my carpet and I'm excited the remodel is finally done! read more

Installed flooring that we purchased from them in our home. The boards began to crack and pop up about 6 months later. They replaced it for free, recognizing that they totally screwed up on the installation. That was nice, however, when they replaced it, they screwed up the installation to our dryer vent and the reinstallation of our dishwasher. Cost us a lot of money. We purchased the SPC (a stone composite vinyl flooring, 3 young kiddos and hopefully a future pup to consider) and are happy with our choice! At first, I thought this place was great but they really disappointed me. I bought my house 4 years ago and bought flooring for my upstairs and recarpeted my stairs. I've had no issues with those parts of my house. I was talked into vinyl flooring for my downstairs and they sold it as "waterproof". I hired them for the downstairs a little over 3 years ago. After 2 years, a few areas started to raise up so every time you walked on that area, you feel it. I called and spoke with Ray the salesman who I've had nothing but good experience with. He said they were busy for the holidays and allow them some time. I allowed them 2 months and they never followed up with me. He sent out Jason who is the manager. Jason looked at it and said no problem, we'll take care of it. He said he'd send a guy to measure and go from there. The guy came to measure and said he'll let me know how much I'll have to pay. I told him Jason said they were covering it under their warranty. He seemed confused and said he'll talk to them. I followed up with Ray and he said they had the flooring set aside for me and don't worry it will be taken care of. I let more time go by waiting, no follow up from them. I called Ray again and he said Jason says it's not covered and it's environmental. I asked what that means. He said either I have a leak under my slab or I let water sit on it for a long period of time. If I had a leak in my slab, I think I'd know. I also go in my kitchen daily, so if there was a pool of water sitting on the floor I think I'd notice and dry it. Jason refuses to get on the phone yet when he came to my house he wanted to talk to me forever. I honestly hate this store because they sell you flooring and you pay extra for a warranty that they then won't honor. I had sent friends there who did their home and I feel frustrated because I gave them business and they won't take care of my issue which is NOT my fault. Do not buy flooring from here! It is more worth it to pay a little more and deal with a store that will honor their warranty! read more

We went to several flooring places and the United Wholesale Flooring team made them an easy choice. Fred and Peter helped us select incredible hardwood flooring at a great value. They even helped set us up with a contractor, who did a fantastic job on time and under budget. We were not as confident that could have been accomplished with the other two contractors we were considering at the time. It was installed in December. Very friendly service and great help with keeping us in budget. Their carpet installer also friendly and professional. The carpet install was good but I think we will have to call soon to have the stairs looked at. Not too concerned there. I do not recommend working with Laguna Flooring on any countertop needs. Laguna Flooring was recommended to us by United Wholesale Flooring as a reputable vendor they contract out to for installation. They had to come out multiple times to get the countertops right and there is still room for improvement. If you're spending thousands you want to go in confident, so shop around for this install service. We didn't shop around but I assume their pricing is competitive. If your flooring install job can be done in a day you'll likely be satisfied but if it spans multiple days you have to keep on them and constantly follow up. There is minimal communication so you have to be comfortable project managing yourself. Flooring and baseboards install they also did for us turned out fine. Also didn't do a great job with clean up. I have tile pieces and grout residue in one of my garden areas where they set up their workspace. read more

The younger man who worked there was not helpful and when we asked for a sample he said they are not Home Depot and don't do samples. I've know some flooring stores that lend samples to potential buyers but this guy looked at us like we were asking too much. However the other man working there was giving a sample to another customer! We were not done asking the man questions but he decided to go back to his desk and not continue to help me. It's a shame because we were ready to purchase for our bathroom renovation but their customer service alone lost our business. After 11 years in our home we needed new carpet. We used a company in the valley that did a terrible job. there were visible seems everywhere. They left the house a mess at the end of each workday and there were threads everywhere . Before the job was completed we asked them to leave. Fast forward a year and a half later I found a company in Newberry Park California to complete the job. Although my job was small, they were happy and willing to do it. I ordered the carpet that day and it arrived at their warehouse seven days later. I called them and scheduled the installation for the very next day. 7/19/19 ETA: We had hoped we were done with UWF, but we noticed that Jason (the mgr) finally decided to address our situation with a reply to our Yelp review. Since he did, it's important that we clarify that we never expected delivery of the tile (nor did we pay for it) & were only offered it (for free) once the company slipped their promised 'available for pick up' date 3 times! Initially we felt that it was a nice offer of good will on their part. Jason, as a manager trying to resolve this, your best course of action would have been to follow up with your customers WELL BEFORE now, & with a much different attitude. The details of our terrible experience have been documented below and anyone who takes the time to read thru will understand why they too should avoid UWF. ____________________________ 6/26 ETA: I was SO hoping to return to this review & update it with a positive outcome and higher rating! We went to pick up our tile this morning and Ray ended up offering to waive the delivery fee and have a truck deliver our tile to us on Friday. "Whatever he could do to make things right by us. And hopefully we would remove the Yelp review", he said. Since I was taking one pallet with me today, that would have worked great & would have saved us the trouble of unloading all 8,800 pounds of tile by hand (their truck has a lift gate). I left happy with my one pallet of tile this morning. But alas, Ray later sent my husband a text message indicating that they would not authorize the delivery for Friday (that he had agreed to with me & his delivery driver just a couple hours earlier!!) unless we took this Yelp review down today (Wednesday) and give them a 5 STAR REVIEW!!! My husband double checked to confirm that they were actually threatening to go back on their word (we shouldn't have been surprised) and Ray confirmed that they were in fact doing just that. (pictures of text messages attached.) We are both so shocked & disappointed. They were "so concerned" about this bad review that they hounded us from the minute we posted it. They had a chance to demonstrate that they wanted to attempt to make it right with us (by delivering the tile & waiving their $100 delivery fee) & they fumbled it so badly. Needless to say, we didn't bother with a response to his last text & just went & picked up our tile this afternoon. After all of this, and how "concerned" they all were about a negative review on Yelp, no manager or supervisor ever reached out to us to discuss the situation. So our recommendation remains the same, we would caution anyone looking to do business with this company. Our experience has been awful and we will never be returning. ___________________________________ 6/25 ETA: We received a call from Ray after posting this review wherein he explained that the reason that our tile was not going to be delivered on the updated date he promised (they had already missed the first date by 1 week) was that someone else in his office overrode his promise to us & insisted that the delivery truck make another stop, hence the matter was out of his control. We understand that perhaps a more senior member of their organization "pulled rank", but we should have received a phone call notifying us that our promised delivery date would be impacted (we did not receive a call). While we appreciate the follow up at this stage after we have left a public review, the truth of the matter is that we have had a crew ready and assembled twice & have to cancel them LAST MINUTE both times due to UWF's inability to meet delivery commitments and/or communicate changes in a timely fashion (e.g. calling ahead of time rather than us calling to confirm at the last minute & finding out that the dates have slipped.) _________________________________ We just spent over $12K on tile flooring with this company. We purchased 1800 square feet of large porcelain planks. The salesman we worked with was Ray. To start, their customer service was mediocre prior to us purchasing tile (they were not great at communicating, following up on, or returning calls, etc.), but they were well priced so we made the decision to purchase from them. After purchasing the tile they have been HORRIBLE. Terrible follow up, they have slipped delivery dates multiple times without communicating with us (we have to chase them with multiple phone calls to get any information). It has wasted SO MANY hours of our time & our contractor's time, all of which has cost us more money in the long run. Honestly, go elsewhere for your flooring needs and save yourself the hassle. It is definitely worth paying a bit more (all said and done, they cost us our "savings" in the tile after all of their nonsense) & you will avoid the headache and frustration. They have most definitely lost us as a customer & we have warned everyone that we know in hopes of sparing them the same hassle and frustration. My wood floor of less than 3 years is scratched, peeling, and wearing off down to the material underneath in many areas. After 6 months of calls and sending in a claim form with photos, Jason, the manager, finally came out to inspect it. He told me nothing was going to be done. When I said I wasn't going to let it go he accused me of threatening him and actually SAID WITH A SMIRK, "I DON'T CARE. IT ISN'T MY COMPANY". He claims it was caused by "water damage from the concrete." It is in the middle of my house. He said they can put down a moisture barrier to prevent that. I asked if I had that and he said no as they did a test and I didn't need it. I used the store installer and followed their advice. He said I was the only customer that had ever had this problem and they had sold 100 truckloads of the floor I had. I find that impossible to believe. Had to literally call them 8 times in a day to get them to help take care of my order. Would tell everyone I know to stay far away from them! This is a long story. I will condense it. We bought 1000 square feet of carbonized bamboo and it was installed directly on the concrete slab without a barrier using an adhesive. We did not know there was a break in the hot water side of our pipes that run through the slab. This resulted in all the bamboo being ruined and had to be removed. Over $13,000 lost because the installer (they recommended) did not use a common meter to check the slab for moisture level. This is a device all installers have. The installer and UWF were very defensive and would not admit any responsibility. We fought with the insurance company for a few years and now have a great tile floor. I would NOT reccomend these people at all. After this experience I have joined Angie's List. Too many problems with construction vendors. I have heard many other complaints about this company. read more

Went here to get oak flooring that I couldn't find at Home Depot. Dealing with them for the sale was ok, and the quality of the flooring was ok, no complaints, but had some problems with delivery. It didn't come when it was supposed to, and they told me they had an oak product in stock for the stairs that was finished, but when it was delivered, it was not finished. Instead of giving me a refund on what I had paid, they just gave me more raw materials I couldn't use. So what is the deal with that??? And, although they will restock if you buy more than you used, that is only for something they have in stock, and only within 30 days. So I ended up with 4 boxes extra of hard wood flooring they wouldn't take back. My next step is to donate it to Habitat for Humanity, the Restore, otherwise I have $300 worth of flooring I can't use. My floor guy told me that it was crazy that a standard flooring like I got had to be ordered, and they wouldn't take it back. Let the buyer beware. read more
