Carson is a great at helping find the right flooring very knowledgeable and great personality to work with.

We had Flooring America, Fairfax, install LVP in our basement. They did not advise us that the floor may feel squishy or odd after installation., which is what happened. We immediately brought this to their attention. They finally sent someone out to look at the floor and this person advised us what could be done to fix the problem. This was months ago. No one will call us from the Fairfax store to resolve this problem. They've actually walked away from us and their bad work. Please go elsewhere if you need flooring. We spent a lot of money on this LVP and it feels cheap. Flooring America loves to take your money, but if you aren't happy, they don't care. Shop around and find a good company. We will never shop here Again. Never. And we'll make sure to tell everyone we know how they treat their customers. read more

Costing me more money down the road for their lack of due diligence/expertise. Worked with Yamah on my flooring project for my basement. Never did he advise or mention how common it is to have moisture in concrete in a basement. If I had known, I would have chosen to use tile instead of going with his recommendation to use vinyl. In addition, the team did not perform any form of a moisture surface test to ensure their client wouldn't have any issues in the future. I have been in communication with Yamah for TWO years and have now come to find that we have some moisture in our concrete (which can't be seen) that has caused our floor to warp within a year of installation. Now I am in a situation where I have to pay to redo my entire flooring or get flooring America to fix their problem (which they are blaming me for not knowing I had moisture issues). I shouldn't have to pay extra for their employee's mistake, he is the subject matter expert, not me. Since the sales rep was dishonest/lacks industry best practices, it is costing me more money to do business with flooring America. read more

We went to Flooring America several times as we planned out our fireplace face lift. We were always greeted kindly and most often had a sales associate that was really knowledge, friendly and helpful. We finally decided on our tile and ordered directly though them. The price was fair and the timing was mostly reasonable as we overlapped some holidays which delayed the process slightly. The installation itself was pretty painless. The workers were on time and the supervisor stayed long enough to make sure everyone was on the same page and that his staff had a game plan. The one installer had a great solution to a very minor set back which ultimately turned out great. They were super clean while working. We've recently had flooring contractors here that trashed and disrespected our home but not these guys. The before and after is stunning. Following these pictures we had an electric insert type fireplace put in. So happy with the result. The one star off is simply because you really do have to follow up during the process to keep things moving and overall it took a bit longer than we hoped it would given the delays between steps. Bottom line: excellent work, good selection, above average customer service, and reasonable cost. We were prioritizing for speed of work at a reasonable cost and Flooring America fit the bill. Vin, our sales representative, was extremely responsive. He was able to come to us the morning after we called (less than 24 hours) to see the space and provide flooring samples and a cost estimate, and the installation team was able to start work a week later. There was a minor delay and extra costs due to extra work needed for leveling the subfloor before flooring installation, but the work was still done quickly. There was unfortunately some stains/residue left on some furniture in the room but when we called about it the team made sure to clean it before finishing the job. Communicating with the various staff for sales, installation, and billing takes some tracking, but they are all generally responsive and coordinated. My only critique is that the pricing was a little unclear at first and I had to follow up to request an itemized estimate. Due to the extra costs we ended up paying the high end of our quote, but it was still within the estimated range. Overall, we were happy with the work and would recommend this company. read more

Good help is hard to find and these folks are no exception. They installed the wrong flooring in my home, mismatching the colors, and have only suggested that we have to pay them to refinish the floor on top of the full price for the initial installation. To make matters worse they threatened me with legal action from the moment I complained. When they are the ones that are costing me money. I came in a few days ago and was greeted within a few seconds by Greg. I was upfront to tell him I wasn't looking to buy anything (because I'm not, and I like to be honest about that). Usually in showrooms that means you get left to your own devices - which is completely fine and what I was expecting - but Greg continued to be professional and courteous as he showed me the products I came in to see, politely inquiring about the other materials I was trying to coordinate with and offering lots of helpful tidbits and suggestions. It was such a pleasant experience and there was NO pushy sales act - which is really refreshing. With a large thanks to Greg and his knowledge of their product lines, I got answers to all the questions I came in with and all the final selections I was hoping for. I'm really surprised at the few reviews that are on here, especially regarding customer service...but it looks like most of them are a few years old, so maybe things have changed. I don't know why this place has such bad reviews! I almost didn't go here because of it and I'm glad I went in anyway. Roggie helped us pick out luxury vinyl flooring. He knew exactly what we wanted and made the process quick and easy. We ordered 4 boxes per his suggestion based on the dimensions of the room. It came in to the store in a few days and Roggie called and left a nice voicemail. Went by the following weekend and the boxes were heavy! He had me pull up my car to the side door and loaded them for me. The product was great and a great value - it looks awesome. No tiles were damaged and it was the perfect amount. The folks that answered the phone to make appointments are great, the guy that came out to take measurements also fantastic. The sales associate (Roggie) assigned to me to get a quote was horrendous. He would never respond I always had to track him down and call several times to give him the information he needed to get the quote. He also had no idea if the things in the quote were accurate when I questioned why he has a couple of thousand dollars in charges for things I didn't think were needed. He told me he would call me back on over 5 occasions and not once did I get a return call. It's now been at least two weeks since he said he would call me back after he talked to the installer. I already found another company got a quote and got it installed. It's a shame that one team member ruined the experience and cost them a sale. read more

Stay far away! If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in to meet with Flooring America and found a tile I loved. So far so good. However, when they came out, the measurer looked at my bathroom, which I am redoing and said "$12K" no measurements, no discussion on what I wanted. When I balked he said OK, maybe $9K. This should have been enough, but I do love that tile. So I let him measure the basement. No estimate, I called and asked where it was, still no estimate, called again, still no estimate. Finally went back in (did I say I loved this tile) and was told so sorry, not our normal CS, we will come out Monday and do it again and get you an estimate right away. Monday comes and no measurer. I was home over an hour and a half before he was scheduled. My house is small and my doorbell works. I went to sit outside 15 minutes after he was due and there is a blank note on my door saying "sorry we missed you" No call, no doorbell and no knocker. Finally, OK I love this tile, but I give up. read more

I was going to wait until the work was finished to write this, but I'm so frustrated that I'm going ahead with it. I contacted Flooring America in mid-April 2019 via the USAA Contractor Connection to replace tile that had to be pulled out due to a leak in our bathroom. We worked with our salesperson to keep things moving, even contacting the builder of our 3-year-old house to locate the matching tile. Then we were told they needed a subcontractor to remove the glass shower enclosure. Several weeks went by before the subcontractor even came out to measure to give us a quote. Got the show enclosure removed on JULY 1 (two and a half months after 1st contact). Then we scheduled what I thought would be the start of the tile installation for July 11. But that was just more taking stock of what additional materials were needed. Finally started the installation yesterday, but contractors didn't arrive until 11 am. They were supposed to be here between 10 and 12 today, but it's after 2:00 pm and no one has arrived. We have been without our master shower for 3 months. FA is extremely inefficient and disorganized. If we hadn't already paid the deposits, I would find a new contractor. read more

Flooring America is great. We used them for flooring in the kitchen, bathroom and rec room areas. Worked with Stacey Peters to get the correct flooring materials. Then 2 installers came. We had no issues with them they answered all our questions and cleaned up after they installed the flooring. When we saw something that we were not comfortable with, they came back and made whatever corrections needed. Best flooring organization that I have used in the 30 years that we have been in Burke. We had an extensive water loss and it caused the first floor wood flooring to be replaced. I worked through my insurance company and was referred to Flooring America. My POC was Kevin Yohey. He was very responsive to any questions, he coordinated the other vendors that needed to be involved which included a moving company and kept in contact even when he was on vacation. After the job was done he checked to make sure I was satisfied which I was. He was great. Very happy. read more

This was my first renovation experience. We had to renovate one existing bathroom and add a new smaller bathroom in our townhouse. This job required the contractor to add rough in for new bath, move pipes for fire sprinklers, move wall, new walls, new doors framing, tiles, new air ducts etc. Despite some initial delays Flooring America did a beautiful job. - There was a couple of weeks of delay initially. The project manager was not available and we were assigned a new one. - Briton, Jessica and Carlos were the project managers, designer and contractor respectively. They all did a phenomenal job - The workers were very profession, they padded the floors, used dust screens/tarps to cordon off the construction areas. - We specified in the contract that we would be buying the accessories, tiles, faucets, vanities etc. All communication was done via email, FA would confirm every purchase before I put in the order. - We got quotes from 4 other Angie's list A rated contractors. FA was by far the best value. - We are very happy with our new bathrooms and will work in FA again! read more

We had water damage on our wood floors from a plant leaking and needed to replace about 20 pieces of wood. I went to a couple of places for estimates only to find out no one carrys the Lauzon floor from Canada anymore. Discouraged, I started calling around asking if anyone could order it. Chelsea from Flooring America came to my resue. She not only called a Lauzon rep, but send pictures to match the flooring and kept me updated on the progress the whole time! She ordered it and we had the floors repaired within a week. Excellent service and great work! The floors look fantastic! read more

We just finished a major reconstruction job with FA Builders. My rating would be a 2 if I just based it on the first several weeks of the project and a 4 if I based it on the time afterwards. For the first part we had a new project manager and things went way too SLOWLY - and we were never sure what was going to happen when. Then Britton took over as project manager and things completely changed - things got done, we heard from him regularly, and we knew his goals of when things would get done - and if things took longer why. On the plus side - the renovation looks great. They use regular subcontractors who did a wonderful job and were very polite. Britton did a great job with communication. If we didn't like something, it was addressed immediately. On the negative side - our first project manager and they are expensive. Overall impressive - I love the finished project and now that I know who to deal with, I will use them again. read more

Buyer beware! Flooring America takes no responsibility for anything - including its own incompetence - and leaves its customers to bear the costs. While the initial buying experience was positive, we found the rest of our dealings with Flooring America Fairfax unsatisfactory. When we raised the issues we encountered and requested compensation for some portion of the additional out-of-pocket expenses we incurred, Britton Smith, General Manager/Senior Project Manager, cited a portion of the contract we signed as absolving FA of all responsibility. When we pointed out that the section he quoted did not actually address the issues in our situation, we received this terse response: "I am sorry but my original position remains unchanged. Sorry we could not come to a resolution." Unfortunately, this response was par for the course, given the poor quality service provided by FA - including delivery of the wrong flooring, service teams failing to show-up for appointments, phone messages going unanswered, and the poor quality of the installation of both carpeting and hardwood. There are many other choices for flooring in Northern Virginia. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

Used them before on a project when their Woodbridge location was open. Decided to consider them for another project. Reached out to their Fairfax, VA store. No concerns initially as their GC visited my home and measured areas as requested. However, the sales person (Ms. Knight) has been very unresponsive in providing me with formal quotes as requested. Called Ms. Knight who asserted that she sent me an email, so checked my email (including spam folder); nothing. Nevertheless, she gave me a proforma quote over the phone for which I question pricing in a few areas compared to industry standard pricing. Ms. Knight also stated that she was working from home and that as soon as she arrived at work the next day, she will send me a formal quote via email. To date, nothing. I also sent multiple emails as a follow up; no response to date. With that said, I'm done with Flooring America until either a change is made with their sales practices or their sales staff. read more

FA Design Build recently completed remodeling most of our master bathroom. We love the result! It looks like a Marriott Hotel bath! The tile on the floor as well as the shower walls is so beautiful. Jessica Cannon's suggestion to go to the ceiling with the shower walls tile made a striking difference. The file and finish work was masterfullly done. Unlike other reviewers, I thought the customer service was very good! UPDATE: Hothead reviewer has calmed down. I was irritated that the delivery took longer than discussed because I had labor on hand to move it for me and they were gone by the time it arrived. But in the end, I never asked for a delivery time in writing, so I can't blame them for what I never demanded. Overall, good. I would recommend them to friends and neighbors, and will likely do business with them again for the next house. Just make sure you let them know if your timeline has you against a wall! read more

I had my bathroom remodeled by FA Design Build. The estimator David Kuhns was very knowledgable and presented me with a very detailed proposal. I worked with their lead designer, Jessica Cannon, on my selections and design of our bathroom. She has so many great ideas! Our tile design is truly original and I love the overall style. FA Design Build's installation team is top notch and the project management team kept in constant communication with us throughout the install. Charlie Hunter was our project superintendent, he was wonderful to work with. The installation was completed in a timely and professional manner. Our bathroom is perfect!!! FA Design Build also offers a 1 year warranty on their work. I highly recommend this company! read more

My husband and I were interested in having almost the entire flooring, stairs, and stair railing in our townhouse completed by Flooring America. Went there in late May to discuss this with a sales representative, Yamah. He was extremely knowledgeable about the different materials and was very good at answering our questions. We scheduled an appointment for the floors to be measured for a quote and that appointment went very smoothly. We were told that we would hear back within 48 hours. We didn't receive any emails or calls, so we contacted them 5 days later and were told that they were waiting for us to come in to finalize the material, but that was never relayed to us. We went there and finalized the flooring and railing design for the quote and were told that it would be about 3 days until we get a quote. We never had any direct follow up. We have contacted them atleast 5 times via phone and atleast 4 times via email all with responses saying that they will get us the quote by the next day or two. The follow up has been horrendous and very discouraging. We were already on the cusp of a price increase for the materials, so we are now paying more than we would have if Flooring America would have been timely with their follow up. It's been atleast two weeks now trying to get any straight answer from Yamah and their team. If they are too busy to accommodate their current load, they should have informed us. This area is not hurting for contractors, so if they want to stay in business, they are going to have to do a much better job. read more

Flooring America Fairfax provided exceptional customer service and high quality work at a competitive price and on schedule. My positive experience with this company began immediately, as Kelley--a design consultant and sales rep--contacted me within hours after I posted an online request for an estimate. She was great at responding to our tile flooring questions, politely offering things to think about, and expediting multiple estimates based on different options to assist in our planning. Marc was excellent as the project overseer, regularly inspecting the work and making himself available for questions. And the foreman (sorry I forgot his name) who did the majority of the tile work was fantastic; he was precise, diligent, and professional and did a superb job. His crew was excellent as well. Everyone in the company was very pleasant to interact with, regardless of their role in the process. All in all, I would give Flooring America Fairfax my strongest possible recommendation and I intend to use them for any future flooring needs. read more
