Just got back from a date night at Flores. So happy to have a place like this in Marin! The decor is so fresh and bright. The service is outstanding. Our server was quick, knowledgeable and really funny. We've ordered the empanadas and Enchiladas. I don't even know which one I loved more. Then we tried the sopes de palmito. The service started to slow down and we waited about 25 minutes for the churros. Still no complains, gave us time to people watch a little. Flores will definitely be our regular spot. read more

Flores is a newly opened restaurant in Corte Madera Town Center. Our first visit was for lunch. The decor is pleasing and bright. We were seated quickly without a reservation. Our server arrived in a reasonable time and the service was good throughout the meal. We had a delicious anejo tequila unfortunately the food was disappointing. We ordered chile relleno and pescado. The fish was barely warm. The relleno, black beans, and rice lacked flavor. Hopefully Flores will improve with more time. read more

Was excited to finally try this place last night but was so disappointed. First, the wait staff was a mess. Our waiter was way too touchy-feely, with his hand on my back whenever he was at our table. When our food arrived there was two or three servers literally bumping into each other trying to figure out which dishes were for which person and getting it all wrong (other restaurants know how to do this, why doesn't Flores?). We ordered two desserts but only received one of them. By the time that happened we were so eager to leave that we didn't bother to say anything; it seemed like par for the course at this place. When we were done we waited at least 10 minutes for the waiter to pick up our credit card from the table. And the food was underwhelming at best. I had the carnitas that the waiter raved about and which I normally love. There were some very tasty bits but there were just as many mushy inedible bits. And my cocktail was awful. All in all a bad experience which we won't be repeating. read more

I came in here today to get some food and drinks! I was really excited to come in to try the food. I had the tacos (carnitas and Colorado) they were just bland with no taste. All I tasted was the sauce that came with it. Than I ordered the $18 shrimp cocktail and it was bland as well with only two or three shrimps sliced in half. By far my favorite Mexican place in the Bay Area. The food is extremely fresh and they use the highest quality ingredients. They redesigned the interior and it now is an open, naturally lit restaurant. I got 3 tacos - Colorado, pescado and fried avocado. Each special in their own way. At the table we split the pancake de elote, fried plantains and the papas. We also got a margarita which was delicious. Not watered down and relatively strong. We finished with the churros and they were the best churros I have ever had. I would highly recommend Flores. It brings me back to my days of living in Mexico with my abuela in the early 2000's. Flores has a hip contemporary Mexican vibe-with the drinks, food and décor to match. This is not the usual "everything is smothered with cheese and comes with a side of rice and beans" kind of place. The food here is vibrant, creative and authentic. It's what I imagine dining at a hot spot in Mexico City would be like. It's no wonder that the place is always buzzing with people, even on a rainy Tuesday night! We drive all the way out from Inverness and it's totally worth it. Reservations are highly recommended, though, we usually head to the bar area and grab seats at the communal tables. It just feels more fun that way. Our usual order: --Classic margaritas: super refreshing way to kick off the evening --Micheladas: spicy, piquant and fizzy beer cocktail. Think of it as a Mexican Bloody Mary. --Guacamole & chips: a must! --Tacos de pescado: everything you want in a fish taco --Res con Chile Colorado: fall-apart tender beef short ribs stewed in a chile sauce served with red rice, corn tortillas and shredded lettuce --Tres leches cake: sinfully rich and luscious sweet ending The staff is also really great. I wanted to love this place so much that we gave it another try. A friend who I almost never get to see was able to take a night off (ie get her husband to watch the kids) so that we could grab dinner - this is like a freakin miracle so we were quite excited for a good week. I did not tell her anything about my prior experiences, as I did not want her to pre-judge the place. She made the reservation on a Wednesday for that Friday night - the simple process of making the reservation was tragic - though hysterical, resulting in blow by blow texts to me about the process. That said, we really thought the reservation was handled - 2 peeps, preferred portion of the restaurant if possible given that we rarely get the chance to catch up. Fast forward to Friday night, per the 2 female and 1 male hosts (he may have been a manager not sure), there was no reservation. For a second I thought my friend's head may actually spin off her neck and sparks fly out or something. The hosts looked baffled, said there are new people, and some other random assortment of reasons that I can no longer remember. The man who was with them decided that he could find us a table anyway, which was good, and appropriate. The table though, was literally within five feet of the bar area, with a really large and loud birthday party next to us. Talking and catching up was therefore out, and paying attention to our food became our primary focus. Service was okay at best. Getting water is a difficult endeavor. We split the ensalada verde - I loved it, she was so-so on it - proves you cannot make everyone happy all the time. I thought it was really clean and fresh, definitely a do-over. We had the Sikil P'ak again and both agreed it was great. We split the trout - trucha en abodo - neither of us were a fan and we did not finish it, it was really fishy even for trout and other than that didn't have much flavor. We had the fish tacos which I had before. Again, not super excited about them, but they worked. The tres leches for dessert was a huge win, it was absolutely fantastic. I am not always a tres leches fan, but this was problematically good as I really want it again. I was planning to try it once more before writing this review, but I've decided I'm out for a year until they get settled in, hence updating this now. read more

Ambiance was perfect, indoors or out. Sitting down we received chips and 3 nicely presented salsas. We ordered fish tacos, calabacita , guacamole and a side of beans and rice. Calabacita is made without cheese, which is how I prefer and it was the very best mix of flavors. The side portion is actually very filling and perfect rainy day food. The fish tacos were perfectly fried, not oily and served w a chipotle sauce. I've taken too long to write this review and don't remember all the details, but remember leaving and both husband and I saying we discovered a new place, when in Marin. Disappointing. Scratched wooden table very sticky, perhaps cleaning product not properly wiped off? Ordered the Colorado Bowl, a medium size serving of rice beans short rib in sauce, avocado, greens. It arrived quickly but was luke warm, flavors on safe/bland side, nothing special. Service polite. The rice was not made from scratch. I went to Flores today with my best friend and my niece for lunch. The pros are that everyone was wearing a mask ,the outside patio felt very safe and the tables were socially distanced 6-8 feet apart. We all loved the salsa that came with the freshly made to order chips and the corn "Esquite" was our favorite appetizer. I had the Ensalada Verde ,my BFF had the Tostadas De Cangrejo and my niece had three chicken tacos. We all agreed that our lunches were a B+, it would have been better but our waiter forgot my salad dressing and we also requested more salsa that never came until the end of our meals. Our dessert of Churros were amazing and this was a A+. We do understand that this is a new restaurant and we will definitely give it another try next time we are in the area. read more

Absolutely amazing. From the service, to the food, and the atmosphere itself - everything was perfect. My party had the corn salad, tacos, chips & guac, tres leches, and churros. The salad had the perfect amount of dressing, which was light but flavorful. The chips and guac were stand but delicious. The dessert was fun and super tasty, making it the perfect ending to our meal. The location and staff were both great. Service was speedy and everyone was kind. My wife and I are very excited that Flores came to Marin. They tastefully transformed a dark and tired location to a beautiful, hip, and vibrant space. The bar area with communal tables is fantastic. There is a cool private dining room and a very nice outdoor patio. The margaritas are incredibly tasty, and the other drink options are endless. Finally Marin has an "authentic" Mexican food alternative at a good value. The carnitas melt in your mouth; the ceviche,empanadas, enchiladas are all exceptional, and the corn is addicting. Blown away that the owners have several restaurants in their group, most of which I have been to and are equally impressive; Super Duper, AMano, Lolinda, Delarosa, Barvale, Belga and think there may be more. I loved the ambiance here and the scene at the bar. High quality selection of tequila, mezcal, and artisanal Mexican spirits. I think the place is beautifully decorated. We had the empanadas and guac as an appetizer. Loved them! We ordered the barbacoa platter/tacos for two. I was disappointed in the rice. It does not taste homemade. I can't put my finger on it but somehow it tasted artificial, like rice that is made in huge batches for poorly catered buffets. The beans were okay but again, didn't taste homemade. They tasted like the ones you get pre made at stores were you heat up and add "Mexican seasoning" from an accompanying packet. Perhaps people who weren't raised on Mexican food like the Flores version of rice and beans. Lastly, the barbacoa. It was unlike all barbacoa I have had in Mexico. It wasn't bad but it want classic barbacoa that I was expecting. This one was marinated in a chipotle sauce and likely cooked in the oven. It did not have the natural gamey taste, I could hardly tell it was goat. Maybe it isn't goat now that I think about it, which is the original version. I would get it again but I was disappointed because it was not what I was craving. I ordered two desserts: churros and tres leches. You can't go wrong with either choice! I'll probably be back just for the bar scene and the desserts. read more

First timer! My co worker and I stopped by on our way back from an exhausting long day at SFO. she had previously been and said it was amazing. Let me say it was! The hostess greeted us with a smile and our server was super sweet! There was also a manager (maybe?) who was also super nice. We came in just in time for happy hour. Their margaritas are THE BEST! Seriously they go hard on their margarita game!! We had their tacos dorados and their carnitas tacos! You just feel like home here, idk if it's just because I'm Latina but you just feel a sense of comfort. The entire staff attends you with a sincere smile. AND the food is amazing! I've been coming to this restaurant for years with my family and have been bringing my emoyees for dinner for a while now. The food was simply amazing per usual . When we got to the restaurant the hostess was really helpful. After being sat, we waited about 30 minutes to order drinks and appetizers. We then waited an additional 20 minutes and received half of our appetizers before our drinks. The rest of the appetizers were brought with our actual main dishes about 30 minutes after that. Our waiter never checked up on us for refills on our drinks. People were still eating and he had brought us the check without asking if we wanted desert . One thing that always stood out when dining at flores was their customer service and deserts . Unfortionally, out waiter seemed to get our party out ASAP. The check came out to $450 and we left $60 for tip. A couple minutes later the female manager approached my family and asked why we didn't leave our waiter a 20% tip . She later started yapping and in a way confronting my mother saying that this is why they are short staff . "We are short staffed because parties dont tip appropriately, and this makes our employees leave our company." She never bothered to see or ask us why we didn't tip well and if there were some issues with the service. After bringing so much business to this place, I never thought I would ever be confronted for the amount I tipped a server. I make sure to leave a generous tip everytime I eat anywhere. But this experience was so unorganized and a very unpleasant experience. I never plan on coming back or plan on bringing my employees for dinner due to the embarassing dispute we had with the manager. read more

First of all , starting with the Spanish rice...it taste exactly like Taco Bell rice, or microwaveable uncle Ben Spanish style rice. Seriously identical, no way is the rice house made , it's most certainly pre cooked, pre bagged quality. I also ordered the chicken Tinga burrito. Again. We came for Mother's Day dinner and it was horrible. I ask for our daughter's food to be put in first, she was starving. Tables seated after and ordered after us got their food before we did. We didn't even get the chance to order our own dinner because our server forgot about us. We ended up taking her food to go and will order Uber Eats from somewhere else.
