Flores just opened and is probably still finding their rhythm. We went a few days after opening and despite having made a reservation were seated in the bar area vs. dining room. Restaurant smelled of paint. The table was too small for anything other than appetizer round. Food was off for all in our party and overpriced. Sadly only positives on the night were a tasty snack to start (free), delicious tortillas, and quality waitstaff. We will try again but first go was tough. read more

I should have researched better; I saw on the menu that a lot of their dishes can be made vegan, but when ordering learned that they simply remove the non-vegan ingredients in those dishes without substituting anything, which often doesn't work that well. i.e for chilaquiles, they remove eggs and sour cream leaving tortilla, pickled onion, & salsa....? I did like the sopes as a vegan option, but was kind of embarrassed that there were not better options for the vegan guest of honor, as I had picked the restaurant based on a seemingly vegan friendly menu. read more

Amazing library of tequilas and mezcal! All from small distilleries throughout Mexico. Many of them giving back to their communities in the form of healthcare. No Patron or Casamigos here... but not to disappoint! Great, fresh food that will be remembered.. nice open air ambiance. Jalapeño dressing on the ensalada was not too spicy but delicious. Got into Corte Madera a little late , decided to get some Mexican food ... Our waitress was very cold and looked like we were a bother ... we ordered drinks .. neither of us liked our drinks ( paloma and cocoloco) but we aren't ones to complain .... wife ordered carne asada plate and was not given a tortilla choice ... I ordered carnitas plate and was given tortilla choice .. I ordered flour... Our plates came and we were shocked at the portion to price ratio... not enough food for those prices.. my carnitas were good but I was given corn tortillas .. I ordered flour.. wife's came and the carne asada was almost raw with grillmarks .. they automatically gave her corn tortillas too... she would not finish the last big piece it was way too rare. Chips and salsa , along with the guacamole were delicious... but honestly after spending $110 for that experience... won't be going back. Second time at the restaurant - hardly anyone in the restaurant during the lunch hour, food was incredibly bland (guac and chips plus a bowl). Doesn't holda candle to Playa and others in Marin. Really disappointing, will not go back. Servers were great and very attentive, but weighed down by the rest of the experience. Issues with seating - management ended up being rude instead of figuring out that perhaps suggesting moving to another table might be worth considering. Get a clue. read more

When we were walking back to our car this place was playing the theme to Narcos (we love that series) and as soon as we walked in the door we knew we were in the right place. This will be a one and done for me. Extremely poor service. Small servings with big prices. The crab tostadas, 2. very small, had about a half of an ounce of crab. If a menu item lists crab as the primary ingredient, there should actually be crab in it. The quinoa bowl was ok, mostly salad. If I had not added on a protein I would have left the restaurant hungry. So disappointing. There are many very good restaurants in the area. Not even thinking about going back to Flores. read more

Our server was very pleasant, when we saw him. My coffee was warm and tasted like water. Our food was tasty, but, luke warm. We were very disappointed after reading such good Yelp reviews. There's Mex. There's Tex-Mex. Then there's Rich-Mex. Flores is a super trendy, very attractively appointed Mexican restaurant in Corte Madiera. Great for a date or some day time drinking. Marin locals will know the location- it used to be PF Changs- the most ersatz Chinese restaurant ever. (We were not fooled by the lettuce wraps and sent PF on its way.) Flores may have learned not to try such chicanery. Their authenticity is not to be denied. Instead of suggesting a cuisine by the decor, they have taken a cuisine and adapted it to local tastes. First to appear in the table are vegetarian chicicharrones - for free. Chicicharrones are usually fried pork rinds, the sort of thing you got a big bag of and wash down with a Yoohoo. In Marin, they are non-pork, very few-- but ever so healthy. You have to pay for a side order of chips and guacamoles. This may have sent a tacqueria patron home already but for wealthy and erudite who prize a dining expwrience over value, the veggie chicicharrones are just right and not at all a problem. Neither is a $45 bill for a lunch with 3 tacos and 2 drinks. The margeritas are pushed. There is a large selection of tequila. The beer selection on draft is paltry, however. read more

Two stars for the flavor. The remainder of the meal experience was appalling. They messed up a simple order three times. How difficult is it to get 3 beef Tacos? First time I got 1 fish, 1 avocado, 1 pork - wrong. Second time, got 1 fish, 1 avocado, 1 beef - wrong. Third was given, 1 fish, 1 pork, 1 beef - wrong again. When my 3 beef tacos finally arrived they were stone cold. The door greater was very rude and doesn't understand a simple request to sit out side. After we were seated outside she asked if we wanted to eat outside too? When we confirmed we would like to eat outside. Then she responded with "well you have to tell me"??? Very poor explanation of the menu items was given when asked ( as the written menu is vague ) As we paid and left the greeter lady just huffed when we headed out and said thank you. I came to Flores in a Sunday, The food in the restaurant is outstanding, brunch menu is limited but everything is tasty and very well presented. Minus one star because attention is not great they take for ever to bring the food, I asked for a side of carnitas and they told me it's only for tacos. Another weird down side is that Diet Coke comes in a 8oz. Tiny bottle ( no it is not Mexican Coke) and they charge 5 dollars for it without refill. I would recommend this restaurant but will advise to be patient. Ah and; best pozole ever!! And the tortillas are to die for. read more

Went here on a lazy Sunday afternoon and was not impressed. Got the brunch menu Chilaquiles. It came in a bowl with two fried eggs on the top and stew meat on the bottom. There was a little guacamole. Needless to say, new and different in this instance was not better. The whole thing was heavy and weird... The atmosphere is fine, what you would expect from a restaurant in a mall in Corta Madera. The waitress was nice. I'd go back and order something else if anything looked appetizing but everything on the menu had its own twist, and things seemed a little pricey. So, I will probably not. read more

Great first visit to Flores today during happy hour for an early New Years Eve celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered, from the tangy Micheladas to the fresh guacamole to the fried quesadillas - made with incredibly fresh, housemade tortillas and served with delicious salsa verde. Actually, I could eat a pile of those tortillas on their own! But the star of the show was the Frjolitos Ahumados with black beans and smoked crema, served with three tostadas. We would go back just for this dish! Looking forward to coming back soon and trying some of their house cocktails and sampling the larger brunch and dinner menus. read more

Went to Flores for brunch on Mothers Day, we have been to the SF location and were hoping that the Corte Madera site was as good and we were not disappointed. We didn't have a reservation but got to the restaurant when they opened at 11:00 am and had a nice patio table to enjoy the warm weather. Chips and 3 different distinctive salsas were immediately brought to the table. Nice while looking over the menu. Food was all very good. The Carne Asada had steak, rice, refried beans, 2 eggs, tortillas, pico de gallo. Enchiladas de Pato had duck confit, house blue corn tortilla, salsa verde, avocado, lettuce, crema and queso fresco. The Huarache had spinach and cheese tortilla, carnitas, sunny eggs, lettuce, spicy onion, queso fresco. A couple coffees and a Mexican Hot Chocolate were also excellent. Dessert was Churros with two dipping sauces, Chocolate and Dulce de Leche. Great way to finish Brunch. Flores is a very attractive restaurant serving excellent food. read more

Mediocre I went here with my wife for dinner and some drinks on a Saturday evening. I expected overpriced Mexican food which I am fine with especially if it is tasty and based on the reviews that is what I expected to experience. I ordered Al Pastor Tacos and was very underwhelmed, meat was not seasoned very well, they were too greasy and just Okay overall. The side of black beans I ordered was great. My wife had the duck enchiladas, also underwhelming, too greasy and just okay. Drinks were not great either. Service was satisfactory; our server was attentive and nice. Overall not sure why all of the great reviews, Mediocre at best. I'll probably go back for happy hour to try some more drinks and small plates which may be worth it during happy hour... read more

We decided to try Flores during a stay cation in Sausalito. The restaurant was beautiful, had a great atmosphere & fun energy. The burrito bowl for kids was tasty & great portion. Today at lunch with only half the tables full, the service was poor and the food took 30 minutes to start arriving. Food was slow for everyone around us, too. When ordering, I asked to substitute another vegetable for the beans they put in the carnitas bowl. The waiter said he would ask for the other vegetable they had on their menu, but never came back with an update on the substitution and the food just arrived with no beans. The carnitas was dry and tough. No one came around to see how things were or whether our empty water pitcher should be refilled. There was no salsa offered.
