But since I had already started and broken something, and am low on confidence when it comes to plumbing, he was also willing to help, and made an appt. with me for the very next (Sunday) morning, since my work schedule is just insane. He listened to the type of handles I wanted to replace mine with, while the stems were being changed, and when I was unable to find any I could get easily, quickly enough, he went out and got both types and brought them for the appointment! I was THRILLED that he found the "X" style I wanted and we tried those, but my architecture didn't support them, so sad! But he had the others at the ready, and went ahead and completed the repair, replacing my stems and handles, and fixing the leak that had been plaguing me for months. A couple of weeks later, the showerhead, which had been installed without leaks or issues for 7 months, started suddenly *spraying* water on a Sunday and it didn't seem usable (confirmed Sunday night when I tried to and turned the bathroom floor into a small lake and sprayed the door, the wall, just water all over) night and I couldn't use it, I wasn't going to be able to shower until it was fixed. This happened out of nowhere, the thing had been installed for 7 months and I hadn't done anything to cause a change, I don't move or swing or twist the arm, or even the head, at all. And so, I immediately thought it happened when Dave removed the showerhead to make room to work and put it back up when he was done. I thought he'd just removed the big huge rainfall showerhead to get it out of the way, since it's big and bulky and comes to about eye height for his height, and I was sure he'd *had* remove it so he'd have room to do the repair he did. I'm still a little baffled how it fit and was able to be moved out of the way, but he did. And I don't recall actually ever seeing it removed. We set an appt for the following Sunday, I couldn't make one for the week days since I've been working 11 to 12 hours a day (and had just worked a 12+ hour 6th day the day before this happened. This was before I realized how bad of a water issue it created when it was on. After I realized I contacted him that evening and said, I can't wait til the weekend, can we do anything during the week, I'll just have to take some paid time off for the appt. Spoiler alert, I didn't know it until partway through the appt when he came and fixed it, but Dave never removed it! I'm still kind of stunned about that, I don't know how it fit out of his way, and I don't recall seeing it at all when he was doing the repair, so I thought it had to be out, but I don't recall seeing it anywhere as removed, either (after he told me he hadn't removed it, which totally makes sense that he wouldn't, I just don't know how it fit out of his way!) But the point of that is, I was *sure* that was the catalyst for the sudden water spray situation, I thought, oh sure, it just didn't get secured exactly as it needed to be and a couple of weeks later it was showing... which doesn't make much sense, when I think about it, but it seemed like it couldn't be coincidence and I was sure it just didn't get back on just right, or something. It wasn't even the thing being repaired, so it seemed easy to imagine maybe it was a bit loose, or something. He made time for me, he came at 8pm on Thursday night to save me, since I hadn't had a shower in 4 days at that point and couldn't wait another 3 days! Even though I'd believed the problem stemmed from the day he did the repair, I was shocked to learn it wasn't, he STILL didn't charge me!! All of the work, and coming to take care of it so late in the day, and everything, and he fixed it and there was no charge. He knows i'm in a very bad place financially and that I'd thought there'd be no charge, and even though he fixed something not even caused by the original repair, he didn't charge me. What an ANGEL!! What a fantastic work ethic, and he had sympathy for my plight, and understanding of my financial situation! Dave is amazing, if you're looking for a plumber I highly recommend Plumbing Geeks.
