Here is how serious I am about breakfast: I drove AN HOUR to have breakfast at this place. First, the good things: the waffle batter they use here is malty, loved the taste. The texture was too doughy, however (I like my waffles airy and crispy). Their syrup was also great. Service was fast and good for them for sticking it to Uncle Sam and only taking good ol CASH! That's about it for the good things. The bad things: Terrible quality coffee, literally tasteless. Biscuits were extremely salty, so was the sausage gravy. Inedible. Biscuits looked and tasted like they came from a mix. Fried chicken tenders were tasteless. The coating on the chicken falls off, so you are really just eating hard fried chicken tenders that have no seasoning. The place really needs to invest in better AC. It was WAY WAY too hot in there. This is Florida; this is America. Not some third world country where they never heard of AC. GET BETTER AC. IHOP is literally better than this joint. read more

Yes! This is the second time we tried to eat here. The first time was too crowded. Today we had plenty of time to wait. We shopped in their store, drank in the tap house and then we got called for our table. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband ordered the crab cakes with collard greens and sweet potato chips. For pre dessert we had a cinnamon roll. Today was my second time visiting FCK. I love the chaotic atmosphere. The music overhead and bustle of a well ironed machine running is strangely exhilarating. This place IS busy but it is worth the wait. I wouldn't recommend coming if you are on a time crunch. Wander over to the shop or tap room next door and time will just fly by. Or simply find yourself in one of their many Adirondack chairs, kick back, and relax a while. The food is great! Decent prices, excellent coffee. Heck, have a mimosa if you're feeling a little down south fancy! I ordered a TON of food, mostly because I wanted French toast but also wanted bacon and eggs so I went all in and got it all. Everything was delicious! My grandma did the same and a she enjoyed her food, but wasn't super thrilled about the skillet she ordered- she got one with a burger patty I think and was expecting it to be crumbled and easier to eat. Either way, we had our laughs when we both ordered French toast and another meal and realized we should've split the french toast (when they say thick slices-they mean THICK). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves today and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for breakfast or lunch (I had my eyes on some meals ordered by other people and the sandwiches looked good!). Excellent service, really good food and a relaxing atmosphere made for a very nice lunch! Cracker Kitchen is nestled along the waterfront with plenty of outdoor dining along with a fully stocked bar. The view from either inside or the deck is just what we wanted for our day trip to Crystal River. My wife ordered the appetizer steamed shrimp which were cooked perfectly and plentiful. I was loving my Cracker Melt Burger which was prepared exactly the way I ordered it. French Fries were hot and crispy! My first trip here! CASH ONLY. We arrived around 11 and knew there would be a wait. There is plenty of seating outside for you while waiting. There is also a little shop, and a place to get a beverage while you wait. Once we were seated we narrowed down our picks and got to ordering. The server asked if we wanted to start with a warm cinnamon bun which we were excited about, so we ordered it. We got our food, no cinnamon bun. Which is ok because they took it off the bill at the end. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito. It was GIGANTIC and looked amazing. My kids both ordered a pancake with eggs and bacon and I ordered the chicken and waffles. Everything looked amazing! The waffle was super delicious but the chicken had no taste at all. It would have been wonderful if they season the chicken. Our service was a little slow and a little confusing because our server would bring something/ take an order and then someone else would come by and ask if we needed something as if nobody had been there. Horrible food and they only accept cash. The corned beef hash was made with partially mashed potatoes not diced as they should be and the beef had gone bad giving it a sour taste. Instead of regular scrambled eggs they use egg beaters which are extremely bland. Don't order the pecan pancakes unless you love having a half pound of pecans stuffed into each pancake! Of course, when you have an all cash business and pay very little taxes unlike the patrons who frequent your establishment, you can afford to throw extra pecans at people. Ambience is loud and the place is too small for the amount of people inside. What's worse is the communal seating with zero privacy and you're stuffed together like sardines so you smell the bo of the guy next to you. This place is an institution for the folks in the area...I learns this when I asked my in-laws to meet us here because it was halfway between where we each lived and had good Yelp reviews. We arrived and put our name on "the list" and were told that there was a 45 min wait. There is no waiting area inside this tiny restaurant (I think It is a covered house) We sat on the porch and it started to downpour, thankfully it was a covered porch! Rain stopped and it went back to being hot and not it was also moist out! About 65 minutes later my husband asks where we are on "the list" and was told were 45 min wait time! UGH ! About that time I decide I am ready for a drink and walk over to the little shack across the way - it's not part of the restaurant, but I quickly discover that it is AIR CONDITIONED!!! and they call you numbers for the restaurant in there- OMG we could have been in there the WHOLE time chillin in the AC drinking mimosas! I call for my husband and in-laws and we are ready to wait now - 1.5 drinks later our number is called - we came for breakfast, but ended up eating at lunch time, total wait time was approx 90 min. This is my fav place when I'm in the area. Brunch is amazing! Wait can be a little long but there is an amazing tap room/ cocktail bar next door and a shop and boot store walking distance! I also loved the shrimp and grit cakes. While my hubby enjoyed his scramble skillet. The shrimp and grit cakes is not spicy but there's plenty of hot sauce jazz for you. The scramble is not allowed to be changed( like don't ask for sunny side instead of scrambled like he did)What u see on the menu is what u get, unless u say no to toppings like onions per se! The service was good. Sitting there on the high chairs was not so bad. We actually got the best service that way. This was not just breakfast it was an experience and it was totally positive! I recommend trekking here, doing a tour at the May Stringer house(haunted), do some blueberry picking, sunflowers, downtown browsing, then afternoon tea on a Saturday. Awesome place!! Small town country feel. Restaurant is tiny but food is good and prices are cheap! You get tons of food for the price and everything was surprisingly good!! They also have a taproom/bar on the grounds right next to the restaurant. While your waiting they also have a gift shop. I will say the wait time to get a seat is about 45-50 min, But with the bar and gift shop, it helps pass the time :) I live in the area and been here once before so I decided to bring my friend and she too thought the food and experience was great. Can't forget the awesome staff as well! Everyone was super friendly and fun. Best little hidden gem around!! Old Florida vibes and home cookin :) The restaurant is small so expect to wait a bit for a table. In the meantime, venture next door to the bar or the trading company store! We were seated after about 20 minutes at the bar by the kitchen. Loved it! The wait staff was prompt and kind. They have a few draft beer options but I splurged for a mimosa. Breakfast all day!! We started with the mullet dip....SSOOOO GOOD!! For our entrees, my comrade chose eggs, sausage, and pancakes; while I went all out and got the chicken & waffles. Deeeelicious. Highly recommend. Huge portions too! Parking is iffy depending on what time of the day you go. I found a few great spots on the northern side of the building but my lunch date had to park around the back.
