What a great find. The cutest little place I have been to in a long time. Old Florida through and through. From the artwork (old signs and decor made from license plates), to the staff (friendly,friendly,friendly) to the food. I had the brisket sloppy Joe, dirty baked beans and a sweet tea. It also came with a little piece of their spinach corn bread. The star of the show were the beans. They were delicious! Really delicious. My wife had the smoked turkey and she enjoyed hers too. If you are on a road trip, like us, don't be worried about taking an extra 15 minutes off of I75 to hit this place. And don't forget to squeeze the bbq udders for some extra sauce. :-) read more

This restaurant embodies the word "Florida cracker". I pleasantly enjoyed my experience. The food was fantastic. I ordered the chipped pork with green beans and coleslaw, and you can't forget the sweet tea. Cherish, one of the employees, was so kind and thoughtful during our visit. Amazing stop I made while passing through downtown Brooksville. The Hot honey Chicken sign caught my eye. So yeah I stopped, ordered the sandwich and was recommended the baked beans. Nick said it was his favorite side dish and shares my strong belief that the side should be just as strong as the main dish. Nick is right. Promote this man. Really was looking forward to eating here after a great experience at another one of their locations a few months ago. Ordered brisket, collards, and mac & cheese. Brisket was good, collards were delicious, but the mac & cheese was lacking any real flavor. Reminiscent of "lunchroom" Mac & cheese -no crust, just runny and flavorless. Quick stop in Brooksville to check out Florida Cracker. Full disclosure, I'm not an eat spicy anything kinda woman. Germany just doesn't have spicy in their culture, maybe curry wurst? I regress. The kids wanted fish, none at this location. Then they wanted cheeseburgers, again not at this location. So they settled for chicken tenders and a side of fries. Two out of three enjoyed the tenders and fries. The third did not, "tastes like pickles," but did enjoy the fries. I originally was going to try the chicken sandwich but I could only eat it unbreaded (as the breading is spicy), so I opted to pass (I don't want a plain piece of chicken either). I then decided on Mac n Cheese Boat and it was delicious, perfect southern Mac! We enjoyed the lemonades and free refills and the kids played happily outdoors on the nice playground. Service was friendly and brought the food out to us. The outside is well maintained and I enjoyed the little cook shack mercantile. Seeing other customers around us and they all appeared happy with their food. Sorry I couldn't provide more details on the Southern food, like I said, spice ain't my thang. read more

Not gonna lie, the name Florida Cracker Cook Shack threw me off and I almost left. But glad I stayed and learned a "cracker" is an early white settler to the area mainly farmers and ranchers. This place is casual with big picnic tables inside and out, so you can stay or take food to go. Fans outside to cool off while eating. There are even alcohol options. Outside area is large and spacious with fenced areas for kids to run around. Food was good. Kinda bland, but nothing some salt or hot sauce can't fix. I enjoyed the fried pickles best. Batter not too thick, different spice levels (for a price), and a larger serving. I note my price did not match what was listed on the advertisement board. Overall, I enjoyed the food. Good portions, affordable, and cooked well. Service was quick and people were friendly. I would definitely go again if in the area. They close early so note the time. read more

So happy with our decision! Had the Mac and brisket with baked beans and corn bread. So good! Didn't need any sauce on the meat, just used the baked beans to add a little flavor. There was 8 diners plus 2 babies. We ate the picnic tables outside. Food ordered included: Mac and cheese brisket basket, Mac and cheese brisket sloppy Joe basket, brisket sloppy jo sandwich, chicken tenders, fried green tomatoes, fries and cheese fries. This is a counter service place that delivers to your table. Multiple different BBQ sauces to choose from to spice up your pork to your liking. The group agreed- brisket could have had a little more Smokey flavor and been a little more tender to get 5 stars but was worth the price paid. Fried green tomatoes were actually fried yellow tomatoes but they were well prepared and the batter stuck to the tomatoes nicely. They weren't as tart as a green tomato being yellow but were delicious just the same. The rice krispsy treat bought for dessert fed the entire group and was fresh. The only complaint was it would be nice to have umbrellas at the picnic tables to ward off the sun. The fans help create a breeze on the covered lanai but the picnic tables off the lanai have no shade and don't benefit from the fans. read more

We rely heavily on Yelp reviews when trying to find new spots and decided this place was worth the 30 minute drive. A lot of reviews talk about the service & they were GREAT! We had such high hopes. Husband had gizzards, plain Mac & cheese & vodka with lemonade. He liked everything but said he wished the gizzards were a little crispier. He didn't want to try the cornbread because he isn't a fan of spinach but he said he was really surprised how good it was.he gave an overall rating of 4.5. I had the mild chicken sandwich, steak fries (which are regular fries) & had to try the smashed potato salad. Everything was good but I would have done the vegas sauce on the side because it gets messy & the bread gets soggy. I also had a peach tea with vodka but unfortunately the tea didn't have very much peach flavor to it. My overall rating was 3.5. Now for the bad part, within a couple of hours of eating I had severe cramping and was in the restroom all night & morning. I know it had to have been something bad that I ate & considering this is the only thing I ate all day. Don't think I will be going back. We live in Georgia but visited family who live in this area. From the moment we all walked through the door, we were greeted by a gentleman who made sure every second of our visit was perfect. He was so friendly and made us feel at home. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was terrific. I had the amazing chopped brisket, fried green tomatoes (WOW!) and phenomenal baked beans. My son had the chicken tender sandwich that had a dry rub on it. He said it was the best chicken he'd ever had. The food was good but I will order differently if I ever come back again. I ordered the brisket sandwich with collard greens- when I put my order in she asked if I wanted cheese on it which caught me off guard. I should have asked what kind of cheese but I just said ok sure which was a mistake. It ended up being basically movie theater-esque nacho cheese poured all over the meat. It took away from the flavor of the brisket and made the sandwich impossible to eat as a sandwich. My bad for assuming it would be something normal or even something creative like some pimento cheese. The collard greens had a good flavor and pretty good texture although there were some chewy parts to them. I would order those again. I really liked the corn bread but my daughter did not. It had a lot of greens and onions baked into it. I could have eaten a whole pan of it but I can also see how it may not be some folks favorite. My daughter ordered the mild chix sandwich which she liked a lot and I tried a bite and also liked too but we both agreed it was pretty spicy for 'mild' I know some people expect mild to be not spicy at all so just beware it has a little kick to it. Decor- very nice. Love the Florida Cracker Cowboy historical video playing in the restroom, very nice touch. Very clean and well kept. Staff was very friendly and provided great service. I really really wanted to like this place. It's very cute and local place. Always want to give local businesses positive reviews (why I gave them at least 3 stars) since know how tough it can be to compete against chains. Aesthetically it is very cute. Udders at sauce bar were neat touch (just hope they wipe them down frequently cause it really is hands on experience - lol). As far as the food the max and cheese is probably the best bang for buck. Still kinda pricey for quality since the batch we got wasn't very cheesy and creamy. Almost dried out. They did put nice amount of bacon on it. Even though they were like the bacon bits u get in the package and not like in-house smoke and chopped bacon. The brisket was good but not a lot of smoke on it. Portion was alright for $8. The chicken tenders were almost anorexic and scrawny for the price! Flavor was good though. The biggest slap regarding cost was being charged almost $3 for take out fee! I understand there is cost for take out but that cost should be offset with labor needed for us to eat in. We only got 3 items and still needed to go inside to get it (and our sauces). For a new business... they really should balance some of their costs (know start up cost a lot) with getting a good base of customers. The 3 items (basically 6 oz of brisket w no sides, bacon mac and 3 pieces of chicken tenders) cost me almost $30! We are still hungry. We won't be going back anytime soon which is really too bad. The food here is awesome. And they have all kinds of sauces hanging on the wall to try. My favorite is the dahtil pepper bbq sauce. We also purchased a Bloody Mary mix that had dahtil peppers in it. We haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it will be great. I love the outdoor seating as it is so family friendly. One of my favorites here in Brooksville and I only have a few favorites. The food in Brooksville is mediocre at best. We came from CA and there were so many great places there. Also the staff here is great. Very helpful and sweet. read more
