This is our first time at this location. We'd previously been to the location in Brooksville,FL and it was a 5! This one was a little disappointing and I give it a 3. We had the chicken fingers with fries and the shrimp with fried potatoes. The food looked great! But although the quality was good all the food was bland. We had to use a lot of salt and pepper to get flavor. The restaurant was cute inside and was pretty busy. We were served promptly but once the food arrived we never saw another person. Had to go to the counter to get a box for the remaining food. We were going to pick up one of the famous cinnamon rolls but after the bland food and lack of follow up we decided against it. Friendly service. Quick and efficient. Huge portions! We were seated immediately outside on the patio. Our waitress came right over and took our drink orders. They have several types of mimosas. We went with cranberry. Ordered our food and amazingly it came out hot and fresh within less than 15 minutes! Everything was cooked exactly as requested, the portions were generous and it all tasted delicious! Wish we could have tried their homemade cinnamon rolls but maybe next time. Came here for lunch with a friend.. parking is a little strange, no parking close to the Restaurant, you have to park behind on gravel..very welcoming when you come inside, there is a little gift shop with branded merchandise and more...this place is Cash only too...it is very homey feeling and a comfortable atmosphere inside. Very nice server, ordered drinks and she gave us time to look over menu..no straws with drinks since they are by the water...ordered lunch, my friend ordered a Breakfast Burrito and liked it, I ordered a Shrimp Basket and it tasted like someone dumped the whole container of salt in the batter, I had my friend try one in case I was mistaken and she agreed...no way...let the waitress know and she gladly replaced it for me, ordered. a Chicken sandwich instead, it was o.k. service was prompt and friendly, food was o.k. would make this a regular place to visit? On a recent girls trip, we ended up stopping in to Florida Cracker Kitchen for breakfast. We were seated quickly and our waitress was promptly available to obtain our drink orders. She (waitress) was great. Seeing that we were on a birthday girls trip, I inquired about "adult beverages". She informed us that their liquor license was coming soon but not in place yet (this was in May of 2022). She suggested we walk across the street to the bar and purchase drinks to bring back. Needless to say, that's exactly what we did while the kitchen was preparing our breakfast. While I personally was on a liquid diet, everyone else enjoyed their meals. I will absolutely be back! I have been wanting to go to Florida Cracker Kitchen for such a long time but rarely was in Brooksville to go so imagine my surprise and delight when I heard they opened a Florida Cracker Kitchen in Old Homosassa!! Located in the Resort Complex called Florida Cracker Riverside Resort near the Monkey Bar - aptly named because of a little island where monkeys live and you can eat and have some drinks watching their antics! Florida Cracker Kitchen is right across the parking lot with a little souvenir store in front with Florida Cracker Kitchen clothing and products you can buy. Enter through the gift shop's back door into the restaurant. The restaurant has old country decor with booths on the sides and tables dispersed throughout. Small but cozy and very busy when we were there. Our waitress was a sweet young lady who took care of us very well, brought our drinks right away. Unsweetened Ice tea was good with a few slices of lemon. My husband and brother ordered the same plate Country Fried Steak with gravy, two eggs over easy, home fries with toast. They both said that Florida Cracker Kitchen's sausage gravy was the BEST gravy they've ever had and believe me when I said they have eaten their weight in sausage gravy! I opted for something unique on their menu that tweaked my interest. I ordered their version of Shrimp and Grits called 10,000 Island Shrimp and Grits. Generous portion of fresh shrimp served with their tomato gravy and bacon served over a fried Grits cake. I've never seen or tasted a dish like this anywhere else. The overall flavor of the shrimp and gravy was delicious. It reminded me of a stewed tomato dish with extra flavors especially with chopped up bacon mixed throughout. The grit cake was a triangle shaped fried cake of Grits. It was good and paired well with the gravy. The portion was nice sized but I'm a Grits girl especially with lots of butter and cheese. While the dish was very good it didn't give me my Grits "fix". It's great for those wanting something different and may just convert those who don't like Grits to loving them. Next time I want to try their 10,000 Island Shrimp with regular Grits which my waitress said is also an option!! So happy!! We're still talking about our experience here, a month later and back in CO. We were driving back from doing tourist shit on our trip to Florida, and I yelped for a good rated place to eat. After looking at the menu, I knew I found the place. It was off our beaten path but when you're on vaca, you want to try LOCAL eats. This place was HANDS DOWN the best place we ate on our trip. The staff immediately greeted us with big smiles and warm welcomes, something I deeply appreciate being in food and beverage myself. We started off with a cinnamon roll. Just do it. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles, I got a scramble. Both were delicious, but the CHICKEN AND WAFFLES ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Seriously?! The BEST fried chicken west of the Mississippi. Went here for breakfast with my husband and we aren't the kind of people to complain, but we just had the worst food ever. We both ordered the skillets and V8 juice. Our food came out fast which should've been our 1st clue. The potatoes were sliced into planks similar to how you would cut for scalloped potatoes. They were cold and raw. The toast was cold. We came for breakfast I ordered scrambled eggs sugar cured ham and normally I would like home fries or hash browns BUT this place only offers "skillet potatoes" which had tons of onions so I had to order French fries instead. We were travelling through the area yesterday and we stopped in for breakfast. While the service was fast and friendly, the food just ok. The issue was when we sent to pay and we were told they only accept CASH as payment and that there was an ATM in the gift shop, that we saw this was not posted anywhere in the restaraunt. We heard so much about this place on radio we had to check it out. Arrived early on Sunday and was seated right away. Staff was very attentive and service was superb. been here numerous times before, breakfast always good, had a brunch with my wife, my shrimp basket was missing a shrimp ( 8 vs 7 ) would have asked for a tail count but it wasn't that good so i didn't want the other one. my wife's omlette was good so decided to go on. Ate outside at covered picnic table, enjoying gorgeous views of water and resort area. Very charming, authentic Florida. Our omelets were over the top delicious! And huge. Stumbled upon this hidden gem last Sunday while exploring Homossasa Florida. We found it quite noisy, but we were seated towards a back corner. The service is stellar as not only was our server attentive, but every other server checked on us periodically. I noted how happy and friendly they all were. First thing that caught our eye was a homemade cinnamon roll. We ordered one and it came piping hot. It was not a yeast roll, but rather one made like a Bisquick coffee cake. It was quite tasty and we could not finish it all. My husband ordered the platter with eggs, biscuit and gravy on top of perfectly cooked fresh home fries. It was delish! It was afternoon so I opted for the Cracker House salad, which was actually somewhere between a chef and a Cobb.
