F(**(ING CROOKS. They send you your bill 3 weeks before it is due. The normal person says, oh, so this is NOT due now, let me put this aside, and then forgets. They don't send a reminder until AFTER you are late. And even if you pay on time, they don't process it until the NEXT day and consider you late. This is 2022. There is no electronic payment in the world that takes more than a few seconds to complete. Banks do this too just to be able to charge you a late/overdraft fee. They hide this info in the fine print. The reminder they send once you are ALREADY late says pay this much now to AVOID additional penalties, disconnection, and FEES, yet they DO assess you a late fee anyway! They try to hide this by not applying it to this bill, but to the NEXT bill, so you don't see it or realize it! Then on the next bill, it is already there before your service. You don't know this, you think you are paying for just your service! What a bunch of liars, schemers, scam artists, and crooks these idiots are. They are scamming MILLIONS of dollars from unsuspecting customers this way! Be careful, set your own reminders on paying this bill so you don't end up paying an extra $5 ever month for NOTHING without even realizing it! read more

The absolute WORST power company I have ever had to deal with. I fell on hard times and lost my job and shortly after that my wife got into a bad car accident that put her out of work as well. Our bill lapsed because we couldn't pay it on time and the service was disconnected quickly. After being able to get some help I made a payment to turn the power back on that same day at 3:30pm. They left us without power the entire rest of the day and the whole next morning and did not reconnect my service until 12pm the next day. Left me and my children here with no power through the night struggling, food went bad in my fridge, my 18 month old daughter had a terrible night because of it. I called on the phone and they're automated system is terrible offers no help, couldn't connect me to a live agent for any help. Then when I did get connected they transferred me back to the automated machine and told me they couldn't expedite the process and I would just have to wait. I highly advise against ever doing any kind of business with these people they're terrible. So quick to cut the service off but took them almost 24 hours to turn it back on. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN HELP IT. read more

I am trying to send an easement agreement to FPL substation in Pompano. The City Of Coral Springs requires this for permit to dig to install a fence on my property. I was given a fax Number only. Well, the number is ALWAYS BUSY!! I have tried 10 times today alone. I called. The man rudely told me to mail it. Snail mail will take 3 days each way. plus, How will I know if he receives it at all. I asked for an email. No email given. I then called the 1800 number. Again, no help. NO EMAIL! Who in 2017 does NOT have email. Especially a reputable company like FPL!!! Wow!! I am completely shocked, disgusted and concerned about the so called service that I have received from FPL so far. This is my first time dealing with FPL and I can say I've never experienced anything this disorganized and incompetent in my life. This all started with a service I just opened up. I tried paying my first bill/deposit online (I am no stranger to successfully paying bills online). A week after I pay my first bill online of $155.00 I am received an email stating Notice of Returned Payment "unable locate". I was charged $30.00 fee/fine for this. I checked my info which was correct and also went to my bank to see if there was an issue with my account which was newly set up for paying bills, all was good on my end. I tried to set up the auto bill pay with FPL to maybe make things easier so whatever happened at this point wouldn't happen again. Then today I see they also kicked back a $1.84 payment I made and charged me a $25.00 fine again!! After some time on the phone I was finally able to speak to an FPL Rep. Aside from being snappy and rude, She acknowledged that they missed a number on the banking info I gave them. She assured it was my fault even though the numbers were correct on the email correspondence on my end. Whatever! Fine! You've already cheated me out of $55.00 in BS fines but at least get me straight so I can pay my Bills!! The Rep then tells me the only way I can pay my bills for the next year is to go to Walgreens or Publix to pay my electric bill...in person...She couldn't even give me a $ amount that I owe!! I have emails of every payment I've made being kicked back yet the Rep says she can only send me the invoice for the $1.84 and that's it. The Rep stated that I am supposed to just tell the cashier at Publix or Walgreens that I want to put an extra $25 on top of my bill!! Who operates like this?? She said that I owe these fines but she can't give me a bill for them. The Rep went back and forth on too many things and contradicted herself several times on the questions I was asking her. By some of her responses it was clear this rep didn't know what she was talking about half the time. I told the Rep that I wanted to speak to a manager and she said "I am the manager". I asked the Rep for an address to an office for me to physically go to so that I could try to resolve this. The Rep stated "We don't actually have any offices"....I am so done. I wish I could just have a windmill, solar panels and batteries. Seriously what a nightmare. FPL treats you like garbage because they can. They have the monopoly. If you want electric you have no choice but to unfortunately deal with them. read more

The power in your building has been out since 11am. it is midnight and still no power. Two FPL trucks came out to say that it wasn't their problem and closed the ticket. We had to report the outage again. We even hired an electrician to tell us that FPL needs to fix the issue. Once again we call and they say its the transformer which they should have taken care of when they came out in the afternoon. This building has many elderly people and they do not care. The customer service is terrible and even the technicians are terrible. All they do is give you the run around. It sad because its hot and people's food will go bad. This is something they could have taken care of when they came the first time. read more

About 4-5 weeks ago the sub contractor for FPL (Lewis) trims a large banyan tree in the neighbor's house behind us. They leave dead branches on the FPL wire plus they trim in a manner that will require more cutting in just six months from now. I asked them to fix this and they said they would if I paid them. I didn't pay them but I did call FPL about the problem since in the past we have had this wire with the dead branches spark where it connects to the pole and that's where the dead branches were. This morning they sent a fellow out from the "Veg" department to look at the situation. He said the Veg crew was not allowed to remove the dead branches from the wire (even though it was their trimming that put them there) and if I'd like, I could call the Engineering Department at FPL to come out and study the problem. Really?! Why can't the folks who caused the problem, fix the problem? Why do I have to call FPL (again) especially for a problem that has caused sparks in the past? And what exactly is there to "study" about this problem? FPL, as a company, I'd say you have a problem. read more

Just had the WORST interaction with a representative named Mariana. I called because i have a payment extension scheduled for the 20th of this month. I believed the funds would be available on my account on that day but instead i have been told by my bank that they won't be available until the 24th. Upon getting on the phone with me, this woman asks for my first and last name, which i gave her. She never even ASKED what i called in for. The following statement was "I see you have a past due balance on your account and I can't renegotiate." I told her i was willing to give my credit card information to take care of this matter, she proceeds to tell me she can't do that either. At this point, i become irritated by her lack of empathy. So i ask: "so you're basically telling me I'm going to spend the next two days without power in my home? I have a child here" to which she condescendingly responds "yes you are." . I couldn't believe my ears, it wasn't the answer she gave me, just the nonchalant demeanor behind it. I asked her exactly when they would disconnect our power and she responds "your power will be disconnected on the 21st and your account will be placed in collection". I was so frustrated that someone could be so rude and condescending i couldn't help but tell her that i wanted to speak to someone who was a little more empathetic, to which i requested speaking to a supervisor. She transferred me to a gentleman who goes by the name of Fernandez. I asked him for both her first and last name as i do want this escalated to corporate but he said he couldn't provide that information. He was kind enough to move my payment date 2 days further which is all i need. Nonetheless i will make sure someone at corporate reviews my phone call with this woman who knows NOTHING about customer service and is rude and condescending. read more

They push you to set up service online but when there is an issue with the account they are not willing to help you fix it. I opened a second business account and the system automatically copied the name of the first business. My only option to fix the slight name change was to stop and then restart service which included repaying all of the reconnect fees. read more

Endlessly, I have tried to find Sentry Electric, one of the outside-of-state electrical companies that came to our aid during Hurricane Irma. We lost power for six days, and when our street was restored, ours had a cable complication and was still out. Juan Leon, from Sentry Electric ( I hope I got their name correctly), came back later that evening and fixed it. He looked tired and exhausted, but he came back. Thank you FPL for doing your best- I wish we could have underground electricity? And thank you Sentry Electric ( if FPL could let them know) for having such a compassionate employee. One last word, my husband was working 12 hours shifts in a shelter and later with FEMA . When I first told him the bad news, he actually whimpered , but by the time he got home Mr. Leon came and restored it!! read more

FPL provides a great service. However, there is no connection with the customer. They apparently don't want to be bothered. I lost my job due to COVID and wanted to work out some kind of partial payment, so they get something. There is no way to contact them about this. Their site simply refers you to local assistance programs that you can use if you're financially devastated and can pay absolutely nothing. read more

Worst customer service ever. Called to remove some power lines from my house for some construction, expressed from the beginning it was an emergency. I was told to call the engineer directly, I've called several times and left voicemails to call me back. I have yet to get a call from her after 3 weeks going on a month. What I have gotten is fpl asking the same questions over and over again yet power lines still remain at my house. I was finally able to schedule a day where the supposed engineer would come out and remove the lines, yea that day came and went, crystal was a no show. It's a great way to monopolize the power system and not give a damn. Zero stars is what they really deserve. read more

Our power went out this morning at 10 a.m. FPL said the restoration crew around noon and I got a notification that my power was restored a little after 4 p.m. However my power was not restored. Apparently all of my neighbors had power but we did not. Now FPL is telling us that we most likely will not get power to almost 11 p.m. which means our power would have been out for over 13 hours. Since I work from home this needless to say was a huge inconvenience to me and my business and now to the rest of my family because we still have no power. FPL shows no concern for the fact that we have been without power now for almost 11 hours. I would understand if a hurricane would have come through or there was some major power outage event in South Florida, however given the fact that this is not the case I would have to say f P & L is a terrible organization that does not care about its customers!!! read more

Terrible company. It's ashame that Floridians don't have the option of choosing their own electric company. It's because of this that FPL treats their customers like crap. You have to request services months in advance and when they actually come out they barely do the job. I have had multiple FPL workers tell me that when I have to get something done with FPL I have to call and claim that its an emergency for them to atcually give you a decent time frame in which they come out. It's hilarious because FPL surely send you request to pay their bill on time yet they don't do their part in servicing their customers on time. We discovered our substation leaking a large amount of oil. The team that arrived, assessed and ultimately replaced the unit was professional, precise and worked both safely and quickly. The one FPL employee that stood out among them was Joe, the Environmental Officer. Like an Army Pathfinder he was first in, last out and heavily engaged throughout the full duration of the job. In addition, he was respectful and informational. Joe represented FPL very well. Our community is grateful for the work done here, and we are confident that FPL will continue to serve us well in the future. read more

Absolutely love this company. They do everything in there power to help you and they take every measure to insure that your electric will not be turned off. My bill is almost in the $700 range due to covid and they really went in to my account and found a way (like they always do) so that me and my family can still have power. They don't HAVE to help you... They don't HAVE to arrange payments at a further date... but they do it its part of there core mission... Horrible customer service , they send me to five different locations today to make payment 5!!!!!!!!!!! Non of the locations worked out I was running on foot trying to make a payment for all most 3 hours machines were not there or not working or not able to process the payment and after all that they still turned off my power. My transformer exploded causing a fire around 7:30pm. The firefighters came, handled the situation and sent fpl to repair a broken down cable. Mind you it's currently 11:30 at night, I still have no power and they're apparently treating this as an "emergency" which is complete bs. Fpl only cares about MONEY if they lose money they're going to take their sweet time. I called and they said they were estimated to arrive at 4am. You know what it is that I have to sleep tonight with no air conditioning, no power!? It's ridiculous how they could say this is an emergency and take more than 5 hours to respond. FPL is the worst provider in this country. I've seen providers in Colorado 100 times better than this. And it's sad because In Miami fpl is the only service provider, so we're forced to withhold this horrible service. Completely disappointed and dissatisfied with this service. read more

Well over 4 weeks ago, I reported a street light outage at a busy and dangerous intersection for vehicles and pedestrians in a historic neighborhood of the city. Nothing has been done despite phone calls and emails. FPL's ridiculous responses have included: "We don't have a manager of streetlight maintenance, managers don't know each other and don't talk to each other, we can't find the pole (address/description was given many times), we don't know if that's our pole, we need a pole number but yes we know many of our poles don't have numbers and we only have a list of pole numbers but no maps, although we have the street names of the intersection, we can't find the pole, we haven't called because we didn't do the work." Warning long post regarding our lovely...not... FPL company So yesterday this assholes call my dad and tell him they need to come to the house and see the meter to make sure its functioning properly blah blah blah.. forward to today they come to the house and once they have access to the meter they cut off his power and give him a bill for almost $10,000 bucks and tell him that in order to restore power he needs to pay $6,900.00 and that this was being done because the so called meter he had on the house before was tampered with in 2014 and he had to pay all that money that was owed. I'm not sure if they did this everywhere but back in July of last year they went around replacing meters and putting new ones. According to them back in July of last year was when they noted the meter was tampered with and it took them until now, 10 months later, to advise my dad of their so called finding and they way they did it was by sending someone to my dads house with the bill and cutting his power. No prior notice, no calls, no letters no nothing. Just decided to show up today and fuck up our day. Now when I called and asked why it took them 10 months to tell us this out of nowhere and cut the power and demand $10,000 bucks her answer was we needed to gather evidence. So i of coarse told her gather or make up because no one has touched your stupid meter. So she says we dont make up this things someone tampered with it. So i told her someone not per say my dad so why are we responsible for it and she says because the account for the property is under our name. So i have a few questions that I got no answers to FPL Connect How do u know it was tampered with in 2014? Did the person signed and dated they did it there at the moment for you to know it was in 2014? Why did you delete every single bill of the account including bills that go back as far as 2001? Sounds a little fishy don't you think. So what are you trying to cover up FPL Connect. Is it that you somehow need to recover funds you lost while everyone had no power with the hurricane and this is what you have turned to. To attack innocent residents who follow the law, come up with some stupid story, delete their bills so they have nothing to prove and accuse them of doing things they have never done. Now my dad had to scramble come up with the $6,900 bucks and pay them and do you think he has power? Well the answer is NO. So now he is home with no power at all until they feel like getting their happy assess over to his house and restoring power. And the stupid ass bitch Mendes who I spoke to tells me...well you have to get a lawyer if you want to fight us about this. So we called last week to switch the power into my husbands name since we just moved in. They spelled his last name incorrectly and today we call to have it corrected and they told us we need to fill out a bunch of forms and provide information I order for them to change it. He even provided his drivers license and SS #. So inconvenient being that THEY made the mistake in the first place. Doesn't make any sense at all. FPL budget program has been created to work urging the first year only. After is a way to owed money constantly to FPL and create fear to the customer about an increase of their bills and spike during summer. We are in the winter now and my bill is higher to what my actual bill would have bee during the summer and they deferred almost $300 in a way of obligate to remain in such a rip off program. When you make a payment on the phone or online and you get a confirmation number and you see it being deducted from your checking account showing your available balance in your checking account minus the payment only to have it returned two days later and being charged a return fee. Especially during the pandemic. When you make a payment it should come out of your account automatically. This bullshit that they have where you have to be to do it online one way and get charged or over the phone another way and get charged or do it by debit card another way and get charged it's completely bullshit. especially during a pandemic when people are already low on funds. Florida Power and Light has listed Service America as an approved provider. Service America even shows up under FPL when you look it up on line. The FPL site lists Service America with 102 One star reviews. How can you possibly recommend a company with such horrible reviews in Yelp, Ripoff, and every other reviewing system? This makes all of your statements meaningless. I have been without air for over a week (even though the top of the line system is only 14 months old and still under warranty) and this company will do nothing, though I have my house up for sale. FPL lineman rang on my security doorbell and during the discussion he said he just wanted to let me know they were doing some work on the lines in the back yard. In Naples Park the utilities have an easement for power/telephone/cable along the rear yard property lines. Shortly after, I also receive emails alerting me to power outages associates with equipment upgrades. When I arrive back in Florida, I find I now have a 30 foot utility pole in my backyard where previously I had NO utility pole on my property. This occurs 10 months after I receive a notice that FPL intends to put my electric utility underground in the front of my house. So FPL's communication with me, a residential customer, has been misleading at best and it feels more like BS. Of course if they had told me they were going to put a large utility pole in my yard, I would have had several questions about it but they denied me any chance to be informed. The worst monopoly! In last 25 years since Andrew, why hasn't FPL buried the power lines? We still have electric wires dangling from wooden poles like we did in the 1930's. They know we are in hurricane alley but because they get bailed out by FEMA, whats their incentive? Better to spend all their money lobbying. In the week before the hurricane Irma was forecast to hit, did anybody see FPL trucks out there cutting back branches, etc.... in preparation??? NO! vote to MANDATE by law that FPL to bury the power lines! Just like we required all gas stations to have generators after Andrew. Plenty of money to do it too.
