Since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday this year, I decided to have my Valentine's flowers delivered early so she could enjoy them in the office for the whole week. This year, I ordered from Florist Atlanta. The small, unassuming shop is located on a busy stretch of Howell Mill Road near I-75, across from Arby's and the Kroger shopping center. I, however, did not step one foot inside the store and instead ordered the flowers online through their web site. Florist Atlanta has been in business for over 30 years. As the shop's name implies, it's a local business, but they've also partnered with Teleflora, a floral wire service based in Los Angeles. Initially, I was a little concerned about this since I hadn't had great results with another floral wire service (FTD). That concern was immediately squashed when I saw the excellent quality of the delivered product. It appears that partnering with Teleflora only increases the selection of floral arrangements Florist Atlanta offers. The web site will let you know which flowers are by Teleflora and which aren't. I ordered the Heartstrings Bouquet by Teleflora. It was $62.95 plus $6.00 tax and a $12.00 delivery fee. These prices are comparable to other local Atlanta florists I've purchased from including Carithers Flowers and Peachtree Petals. The Heartstrings Bouquet comes with red roses, white Asiatic lilies, hot pink miniature carnations, and pink waxflower inside a red ceramic vase. Hanging outside the vase is a silver-plated heart pendant with a 1-carat Swarovski Elements crystal. Honestly, I could've done without the necklace, but it admittedly was a nice touch and presented elegantly. The flowers were hand-delivered, the ideal way to go when it comes to sending flowers. That means no impersonal cardboard box, unpacking, stem cutting, and manual flower arrangement by the recipient. The web site (www.floristatlanta.com) was organized and easy to use. I had the flowers delivered on Monday and they arrived around 1:30pm. The flowers arrived in fantastic condition. None were damaged nor wilted. The roses were in full bloom. Half the lilies were in bloom and half were still closed. The lilies had a very pleasant, but non-intrusive fragrance. No plant food was included with the order, but I'm not sure if that's a standard thing or if it's even really required for the plants. Overall, the arrangement looked terrific and the photos on the web site were accurate. The red, pink, lavender, white, and green colors really popped. I also particularly liked the texture and sheen of the red vase. I selected Florist Atlanta because it was near the apartment where my daughter lives. I selected 2/25 delivery date because it is her birthdate. I called at 3:30 pm or so to verify the delivery. After waiting a very longtime for a person to answer I shared the order number. She stated she would verify the delivery and call me back. I did not receive a call back and the flower arrangement was not delivered. Horrible! read more

This is a LONG overdue review and despite the delay on my part, I still felt compelled to give this business a good review. Last summer, I was tasked (at the last minute) with getting a plant arrangement for the passing of a coworker's mother. Other florists in the area weren't as willing to help me so last minute. However, when I entered this shop, I was warmly greeted by Laura. I explained the rush I was in and what I needed and she directed me to a slew of options. With her help, I selected a plant and she graciously tidied it up for me and had it looking marvelous. Wish I had thought to take a picture. I was really pleased with my experience. I will say...the location of the shop is really....awkward. I went around lunchtime which was not the best idea because Howell Mill was jam packed! I absolutely do NOT recommend this place. The customer service is TERRIBLE !!! I received flowers on the 2nd. They were dying by the 6th. I called on the 6th and the shop had already closed for the day. They are no open on weekends so, I called on the following business day, which was the 9th. I was told someone would call me back. Didn't receive the call on the 10th so, I called back today, the 11th. The man who answered is a complete asshole. I truly wish I could leave the recording of the call. He claims to have called me back. I told him I didnt get the call. He spoke over me concerning that ... okay whatever. Then he says he has no arrangement for sunflowers and roses on this day and had gone back to the previous week. I advised that the flowers were indeed purchased there bc, I took a photo of the flowers on arrival and the card is from their shop. He then asks a woman about the arrangement. She confirms she did and he yells at her about why there is no receipt in the system for it. He comes back and rudely asks, well what do you want us to do about it. I asked for the flowers to be replaced. He said ok bring the original flowers back. I told him no problem but, it would be tomorrow or Friday since they'd be closing soon. He says okay. That should have been the end of the conversation but, he adds: AND DONT COME IN HERE A MONTH FROM NOT TRYING TO RETURN THESE FLOWERS. YOU NEED TO CALL ME WHEN YOU FIRST SAW THE PROBLEM. So again, I told him I called after hrs on the 6th not knowing they closed at 2 then again the net business day which is the 9th. He yells at me and says I should have called on the 2nd. Sighs ... They were still alive on the 2nd. I asked for the owner bc, I didnt like his tone. He told me he was the owner. I told him if this is how he spoke to customers he should allow someone else to handle complaints. He's still yelling about how I should have called on the 2nd and I dont need to tell him how to run his business. This guy is a complete moron and now, instead of a replacement, I'll be sure that my girlfriend gets a refund instead. read more

When I bypass the ADS from chain florists that make it look like they are local I will go to websites to see the selection and prices and then I look at Google ratings. I totally spaced on ordering a bouquet for myself until a week before my wedding. I had seen this florist while running in my nearby neighborhood, so I decided to go in and try to convince them to do my bridal bouquet (I had already called a couple of places close to my venue and they told me a week wasn't enough time). I told them a little about the wedding style and let them know I wanted a cascading bouquet (which is apparently not a super-common style) of white and blue. I felt like Loralei really understood what look and feel I was going for and made some excellent flower suggestions. I also told her I loved the way lilies look but hate how they smell (they remind me of funerals/death) and she suggested Oriental Lilies, which have no fragrance. I ended up with white roses, white orchids, white Oriental Lilies, and blue delphinium, and the bouquet was absolutely stunning. It was exactly what I wanted and totally matched my wedding aesthetic. There were some fuzzy buds on it originally that I wasn't a fan of, but they replaced them with white roses and I was 100% satisfied! I also got my husband's boutonniere and it was a perfect match. I got TONS of compliments on the bouquet and I am so thrilled that I was able to get the most beautiful bridal bouquet ever on such short notice! I've used Florist Atlanta now for about a year for several orders and I would definitely recommend them. Their turnaround time is great and if I'm a slacker and place an online order late in the day they can generally get the flowers delivered the next morning with no problems. Pricing is very fair and the quality and selection is very good. I have used their online web-store for all but one of my orders and it's simple and easy to navigate. I do wish it had the ability to call up a previous order and "duplicate" it (and maybe it does and I haven't figured out how to make it work) but finding what you need is quick and easy so it would only save a couple clicks.... But for me, the stand-out plus for these guys is their service. I had a minor issue with an order early on and they made it right and went out of their way to make sure that I was happy. I try to support local businesses as much as possible DUE to the fact that you can call and speak to someone AT the location. If you are in the Howell Mill/Chattahoochee Ind/GA Tech neighborhood and need flowers, this place is definitely worth the call. read more

I was disappointed to learn that a Mother's Day delivery of a dozen roses was a poor arrangement. I place my order 6 days before the scheduled delivery date and yet when they were delivered they had no decorative bow, no plant life mix and most awful not even packaged, just an open vase of roses in the delivery guys hands!!! How tacky! ..My mother -in-law said the roses are already dying and she has had better luck with roses from Kroger!. I just used this florist again this evening not knowing that the mother day delivery was such a disaster! I will not be using them again and pray that this second delivery will be better. My mother passed away and I needed something extraordinary to have laid on her freshly-covered grave five hundred miles away. I spoke with a very helpful lady who offered some creative input as I didn't really know where to start. She then sent me an image of what could be the result of her work and it looked great. This is where things really took an interesting turn. What the lady made was likely very delicate, so she found a special courier to transport it for the needed 500 miles and had it laid at my mother's grave. I am so happy and appreciative of their work. It truly could not have been any more beautiful. Be aware that this place isn't cheap and the appearance of their work isn't cheap either. Gorgeous flowers and amazing customer service! I can't imagine it could get any better. A beautiful floral design was delivered to my door last Friday, but sadly, while my address was on the card, they were intended for a different recipient. I called Florist Atlanta and told them (the address error was not their error) and they tracked down the correct recipient and the flowers and intended recipient were united very soon thereafter. On Monday I received a lovely arrangement from Florist Atlanta thanking me for letting them know that the flowers were delivered to the wrong person! Wow!! So, while I have never personally ordered anything from them, they are the only local florist I will use in the future. You just don't see this kind of generous customer service anymore. I was on my way to New Natalies to try on my wedding dress when I saw a sign for a great deal on wedding flowers from Florist Atlanta. I went in and spoke with Jim.
