The prices are typical for a small bakery, but then the quality and freshness are commensurately higher. Service was friendly. Other than baked goods, the food is overpriced for what you get. Coming off a romp in the trails in Auburn, I was starving for some good food. I also wanted to fuel back up on some drink so I pulled into the Save Mart parking lot and found this little gem. Lots of good looking things in the coolers and tons of organic healthy action to boot! I asked the very friendly lady behind the counter to make me up something good and proper, she suggested the turkey and cheese croissant, I suggested Heck Yeah, plus all the fixings! She complied and was happy to create the sandwich; she even said she would name it after me maybe...? Definitely very good spot to go for some morning brew and tasty treats. Lovely. read more

This place is cool. Lots of variety of food including vegan and gluten free. The best gluten free baked goods. The GF morning muffin is amazing! A little pricey and the decor is pretty old school and not very comfortable with black and white check floors and no comfy chairs. read more

The Worst Ever. Ok, I go to Four Garden once every couple of years, just to see if it has gotten any better. It hasn't. Today, I tried again. I paid $3.50 for a bagel (twice what I pay any where else!) I received a item that was crumbly, odd tasting, and certainly not worth eating. I tossed it in the trash and went elsewhere for something better. This experience is about the same as the previous 5 or 6 times I've been to Flour Garden. I've thrown away nearly everything I've gotten there. I give up. Do yourself a favor - SKIP FLOUR GARDEN! Go somewhere, ANYWHERE else! read more

Came in for breakfast on the go the other day. The ambiance is lacking a little, feels like an older style grocery store bakery...but they do have outside seating. It was busy, which is always a good sign. The staff was attentive and friendly; they had one of their toasters down and made sure to inform each customer of the slight increase in processing time of bagels, very nice! I ordered one of their fresh made juices, I think it was called a Refreshing Green? It was amazing! This was my first taste of a "green" fresh made juice; it had kale, cucumber, ginger, lemon and some other items in it, SUPER refreshing! VERY fresh ingredients made right there while you wait, this is the kind of place that serves food that makes you feel good because it tasted great, but it also makes you feel good from the inside out! I had energy for hours just from that juice...loved it! I also ordered a bagel with veggies and cream cheese, the bagels are made fresh, you can tell from the dense and fragrant dough, it did not disappoint, even with an out of comish toaster, I still got my entire order in under 10 minutes with a line. read more

I'm giving one star for service, but I recently went here after a long time of not going here. It was ridiculously overpriced and not worth it. I guess a 10oz americano is $3.25 which to me is outrageous, but what's even worse is the muffins I bought! Good god they were so stale, and they costs around $4 for two stale muffins! They were from the 2 day old section so I kinda expected them to not be the freshest. But to charge that much money for them is just pure greed! read more

I stopped by this place yesterday before going into Save mart for a few things. I found the service was very helpful though I did have to be the one to start the conversation. I needed something to hold me over til I got home to make lunch and didn't want to pay too much..I chose the Pizza bagel and asked them to toast it. It was amazing! I could have had that for lunch if some spinach & meat were added!! I was impressed. While I was waiting for them to heat up the bagel, I walked around the place, checked out their other items, coffees, etc and was even more impressed. I guess this place has a mother store/bakery in Grass Valley and then distributes all items to other locations. I definitely will be back and I will also be trying the one in Grass Valley! read more

It dawned on me that because I've come here for many years, I haven't thought to "Yelp" them. This local bakery is my "go to" as we try to eat clean and I have a gluten allergy. There are of course wonderful gluten containing baked goods that I've eaten lots of before going GF, but they also have a fresh organic juice bar, house made soups and great take away deli options. A great freshly baked bread and bagel selection, cakes and pies. All made with healthier ingredients. I am very grateful for this place. read more

All I can say is I love this place! They exemplify the true meaning of customer service. The food is great, the drinks are great, the girls working the counter are absolute peaches. In a world where the almighty super chains like Starbucks rule I will any day of the week spend the extra couple of dollars to help a home town business. Perfect example being they make an increadible apple raisin bread that my husband has become absolutely addicted to. Because of slow sales they decided to discontinue it. I was advised by one of the counter girls to send a message to the main branch expressing my extreme dissapointment. Not only did I get a wonderful email in response but the head baker called me personally and assured me that they had decided to continue making it! Now that is what I call small town, personal, hands on, Starbucks can't hold a candle to ya customer service!!! read more

My favorite thing about Flour Garden is their tea selection! By far the most extensive in the area. Lots of loose leaf and organic teas. They also have a lot of organic and clean eating options, including a juice/smoothie bar and organic bagels and spreads. Their carrot cake is exceptional and incorporates walnuts and raisins with cream cheese frosting. The counter service is attentive and friendly. I've been coming here for ~30 yrs (I'm 32) and have seen a lot of changes. It's current situation is much more different than when it began. They now do smoothies and soup in addition to their traditional fare of bagels and other mouth watering baked goods. Their clam chowder leaves A LOT to be desired as do their smoothies. Their baked goods are tasty, but over-priced. Coffee selection is OK, and I'm glad to see them with a selection of "Free Trade" blends. My biggest gripe is inconsistent prices. Sometimes they'll give you a discount on coffee if you have a travel mug and sometimes not. They've also charged full price for items from the Day Old Bin. I'll continue to go there from time to time, but it's not the great local business it once was. read more

Went to Flour Garden and the woman handling cash also made my sandwich W/O washing her hands. I asked her to wash first and she said, "Oh, I don't touch the food" and pointed to a paper tissue that she intended to use while handling the bagel, onions, etc. So...she would not wash her hands, even upon my request! Years ago I stopped coming here - but forgot why! today I remembered. Wentt there so my grandson could get a gluten free bagel. I order a bagel with lox - what a terrible mistake! The "bagel" was doughy and pasty - horrible mouth feel - and they didn't even bother to toast it! HOW does anyone claim to sell Bagel and Lox and not have capers? I really don't understand. And his bagel with schmear, my Lox and bagel, my latte and his can of iced tea came to almost $30??? This place is so unreasonably expensive and honestly it is kind of a blatant cash grab at the point where they're charging literally $1 more for the same (already expensive) juice in a slightly larger cup with some ice. Last I checked ice was just frozen water and if they're paying THAT much extra for a larger cup they probably need a new vendor. Aside from that I got a carrot/apple juice for my daughter and I to share. I get that it is fresh juiced and I'm willing to pay a bit more for that, but at roughly $6 for the juice I could buy pounds of apples and carrots and make a whole lot more juice. read more

I get that a stamp card is an extra that a business offers . But It is offered as a reward to your loyal customers right? So why is it that that your assistant manager Nicole always makes me feel like I criminal when I ask to have my card stamped? I can go in one day and spend $30 plus and I get 1 stamp. I go in the very next day day and spend exactly $4.78 and have Nicole tell me that I have to spend $5.00 to get my card stamped!! Ok so my husband and I both go in. He orders a $6.00 plus order had his cad stamped. I order a $8.00 item. I get told by Nicole that they only stamp a card once a day . I had to point out that we are two people and we had two cards. We can do without the card nazi and will not be returning to The Flour Garden in Auburn and will patronize the one in Grass Valley where the personnel knows what customer service is all about . Your Auburn crew needs a lesson in customer service. You are not the only coffee place in town. If you can't offer good customer service I have no use for you. read more

I've been going to Flour Garden for quite a few years and love their "organic" juices. My schedule doesn't always allow the 15 minutes or so that it takes to receive your order so I started calling in ahead of time. The first couple of times that my drink wasn't ready when I went to pick it up, I figured that they had gotten busier after my call and forgave easily. The next few times it wasn't ready, I had asked when placing the order if they had a lot of orders ahead of me and was told that it wouldn't be a problem...still no juice. This last time was the final straw. I arrived 15 minutes after I said I would to pick up my juice (which I was told is not always organic!?!) and... again... not ready. I'm done! I support local businesses but this is not how you run a business. A simple statement that they are busy or a suggestion of a later time when I place my order would even be helpful. Done. read more

This place has decent pastries, but I agree also overpriced. The main complaint is the service. More then once I have been given unpleasant customer service. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but keep getting disappointed. Just today my mom went in to purchase the almond bear claws and wasn't able to find any behind the counter. When she asked if they had any the clerk stated rudely "they are right there" even though there was a raspberry sign in front of them. My mom was questioning if they were really the almond bear claws, and when she brought them home she realized that they were raspberry not the almond like she asked for. When I called the bakery explaining the mistake all I got in return was a "well she didn't specifically ask for the almond bear claws" After spending $8 on a product my mom did not enjoy and no apology for the mistake, needless to say we will not be returning. I usually get an Almond Milk Latte and am always surprised at how good it tastes. The pastries and bagels I've had have always tasted fresh (the Maple bun is to die for, but share with someone as it's super sweet). The only downside to this place is that it is a bit pricey - that being said, I usually just go here when I want a treat and I'm never disappointed! read more
