My sister and I stopped by Seasons A Floral one morning after realizing we needed some flowers on short notice. It's clear that typically they create floral designs for occasions placed ahead of time, but the manager was able to create a small autumn bouquet for us within five minutes. I wish I had a photo of it; it was beautiful and varied. It helped that we released all creative control to the expert! Yes, they're a little expensive, but it's in midtown and it's a small business. The quality speaks for itself, and they provide a personal touch to their floral products. Now, I have been going to Seasons for many years to get opening night flowers for friends opening on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in nearby regional theaters. I was looking for a bouquet and flower crown for my engagement shoot on short notice. The florist I visited just before we found Seasons told me their bouquets start at $150 and it would cost another $150 for the flower crown. Seasons, which had a much larger flower selection, was so reasonable in price. I picked out a bouquet that I could not be happier with and it cost just under $40. We had a little trouble putting a flower crown together so last minute, but Mandana was extremely helpful and patient, she went out of her way to eventually find a solution for me. We recently contracted Seasons A Floral Design Studio for our wedding at Gotham Hall in NYC. Their store on 53rd Street and 8th Ave is a magical place we frequent throughout the year with exceptionally talented and attentive staff. They have a phenomenal selection of gorgeous fresh cut flowers from all over the world. We knew instinctively by the way they decorate their store and treat their customers every day that this was the florist we wanted for our wedding. Not only are they a top-notch florist, but they are very reasonably priced as well. We worked with Gerald Palumbo to design our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. He is an absolute joy to work with, extremely creative, an incredible visionary, passionate and enthusiastic in his work. We knew we didn't want traditional floral arrangements on every table, but we couldn't exactly describe what we wanted either. We gave Gerald the words "tall" (to reach up to the dome ceiling at Gotham Hall), "whimsical", "wispy", "romantic", "summer like", "playful" and he turned our few simple words into absolute magic! Our wedding was over the top spectacular - Gerald and the staff at Seasons managed to bring the feeling and scent of a summer day in Central Park into Gotham Hall! I got a bouquet in a hurry there, preordered on the phone, and when all the paper was taken away, the flowers were rotting and so haphazardly arranged (who puts red/yellow roses, stargazer lilies, hydrangeas and those terrible purple fluffy flowers all in a single wilting lump?) the deli around the corner had more attractive bouquets for a fraction of the price. I adore this place. First of all, it looks like a magical wonderland inside. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are always unique, special blooms in stock-- this is definitely the place to go if you're looking for more than a generic deli-bouquet. I love the stylish charm of the store, and I love that I can get a small bunch of tulips or a stunning event-worthy arrangement with an unusual array all in the same place. Gerald, the owner, is passionate about what he does and it shows in every detail of the shop and the great care with which he and his staff treat the flower designs. I always leave with something special. Definitely check this place out! (note for VIrgos: the flowers are arranged by color-groups in the store, and I find this attentive organization so visually appealing I literally stop in whenever I'm in the neighborhood just to look at the new displays.) read more

Any negative review should be overlooked. I LOVE this place. I walk by the shop almost every day and its one of the highlights of walking on 8th ave. The windows are so nicely displayed and the flowers are always fresh. I could not say enough great things about the staff. If you are looking for flowers for an event or have a $20 budget this is the place to go. I'm looking at the 4 exotic flowers that I bought from Seasons 2 weeks ago and they are still alive and beautiful. If you want amazing roses that smell like roses they have them. I've had mixed experiences here. One time I got a snake plant and they did a great job. The second time, we agreed they were going to pick up a plant for me at a nursery and then they never did. They said they would call me back in a few weeks and never did. I went in about a month later to ask how things were going and they basically said they didn't do anything. It's also strange because sometimes something looks good in the shop and they will say it's not for sale and saved for someone. Sure that's fine, but how am I supposed to know what I can buy? I find purchasing things here very confusing because I said I wanted a plant and they agreed and then they basically just ghosted me even though they said they were on it. Especially at the high price point I wasn't happy with my experience here. Anyways, I found another place to buy plants and they did a great job at a much more reasonable price point. read more

We made a wedding brunch and used Seasons for the flowers. We were very happy with our choice. Miko, the florist was very friendly, creative and listened carefully to all our concerns and requests. She made 3 beautiful centerpiece arrangements for locations in the room with the most beautiful and colorful flowers, as well as many bud vase arrangements for the tables. We will gladly contact Seasons again when we have need of a florist. read more

I purchased a bouquet from here once before and had no issues. The second time around I purchased an orchid as a Get Well present for a friend and this is where everything went down hill. After purchasing I noticed a little bit of bacteria/fungus buildup in the base but I figured this was due to the decorative moss which florists use. I removed it and later I noticed that a few of the buds fell off but I figured this was due to the use of moss and I figured this would expected. After 3.5 weeks the situation got worse, now I had pests and pretty much all the buds were dead. I went back to the store to ask for an exchange and they refused. I understand that not all flowers are meant last but I know for a fact that orchids can last anywhere from 4 - 12 weeks. This was obviously not the case as it was dying 3 weeks into the purchase. The problem I had with this whole situation is the treatment I received by the staff. I was basically treated like a second class shopper whom they had no need to satisfy or expend any energy on. They flat out refused my request and told me that I should have called within a week after the purchase to claim an exchange as this is their "store policy." Oddly enough when I asked to see where this store policy is written... they said this is a "verbal policy put it place by the owner." Then when I asked them why they did not tell me this verbal policy when I made the purchase they said they would only tell me if I called a week after the purchase. Hard to follow? Yes. In the end... I am not going to purchase from this location even again and I not recommend this place to others considering the treatment one gets when things do not go right. I got a palm here at the beginning of Dec. 3 weeks later I was watering it as directed and noticed huge worms and spiders in the plant and immediately threw it out. I'm not a huge plant person but after doing google searches I learned that a houseplant should not be infested like this. GROSS. I also bought a poinsettia. A small one. For $35. I've been ordering from Seasons for at least a decade. Their bouquets are packed full of beautiful, fresh flowers with the power to take people's breath away. They take my basic suggestions ("it's a birthday bouquet, she loves peonies, don't go too red") and make a great arrangement every time. And they have no trouble with same-day orders, which has been great for impromptu celebrations and saved me at least once. A few years back we ordered a vase of flowers that wilted within a day of delivery. Disappointed, I called to let Seasons know they blew it. The person on the phone--I want to say it's the owner or manager, I've heard his voice for years--was immediately apologetic, and promptly sent out a replacement that looked great for a week and a half. I was a loyal customer before that, and even more so since. My most recent order arrived yesterday. It's gorgeous and will make both the recipient and me happy for days. They charged me $10 for a single flower. I walked in and asked for "a small flower to use as a boutonniere." A single flower, in this case a Dendrobium orchid, costs no more than a few dollars anywhere else, but as soon as the salesman learned that I was going to use it as a boutonniere, he took the opportunity to mark it up as a boutonniere sale. By the time he rejected my protests, the salesman's assistant had already picked the flower and wrapped it in floral tape, and I didn't have the heart to walk away. Thank you, both "Seasons: A Floral Design Studio" and guileful salesman. The 3 minutes you took to wrap this flower in tape really changed my life. read more

We had a wedding last fall, and we asked Seasons Florist to create a bouquet, and handle all the flowers and decorations for our ceremony and reception. When we saw how it turned out, we were completely blown away. The orange, red, and other fall colored flowers were exactly how I wanted. The scale, the arrangement, and the vibrant flowers were perfect for the event. Bamboos were used for the reception, and they created extremely elegant, artistic arrangements for the tables and entrance hall. The staff were amazing, and we would definitely ask them again when we plan another event. read more

Well, I am not sure I understand some of the reviews below. It seems that all the criticisms have to do with different individuals' ability to manage and maintain plants over a period of time. I confess we have managed to knock off our own share of house plants, but I don't blame the store I bought them in. My experience with Seasons has been totally different. There is hardly a holiday or special celebration we have that does not include beautiful floral arrangements from Seasons. We have ordered from them for many years and, without fail, the results have been exquisite, illicting compliments and entlhusiasm from our guests. We used to pretend the flowers were our compositions, but the flowers are clearly so beyond what we can personally do we now simply take credit for choosing the best. We have found that everyone in the shop is friendly and enthusiastic. And when we have the chance to speak with the owner, Gerald, directly, it was simply a lot of fun. Are these other reviewers talking about the same shop? Seasons is wonderful floral shop. We hired Seasons for our wedding on 9/19/15 at the recommendation of our venue, Bryant Park Grill. IN SHORT, the shop is very nice and the owner is knowledgeable, however, they COMPLETELY under delivered and over charged. $150 for a tiny bouquet of maybe 8 white roses and nothing else? They also completely disregarded everything we discussed for all aspects of the flowers. Go elsewhere. Here is my feedback directly to Gerald 2 days after to which he has not had the courtesy to respond. "Dear Gerald, I am providing feedback to all the vendors directly prior to posting reviews for each. Unfortunately, I was severely underwhelmed by the garlands on the tables as they were not nearly what was discussed during our consult and subsequent emails. For example, it was very important to me that the garlands drape over the ends of each long set of tables and that they be much much fuller than they actually were. You mentioned that since we separated some of the tables this changed the lengths you had to work with which, honestly, doesn't make any sense as the table lengths remained the same and the only the start and end of each set were suppose to drape over to the floor. Additionally, the candles on the table were not anywhere near what we discussed, which were stemmed candle holders that would tuck into the garlands. And there was suppose to be a very generous amount of candles which was not the case. Finally, the personal flowers: You charged me $150 for the bride's bouquet which was a small gathering of white roses and zero greenery which I specifically requested and I gave you examples in the photos I forwarded to you prior to the event. The MOH's bouquet was basically the same as mine just smaller and that cost us another $85. These are really excessive prices for the work done as there was nothing particularly unique or special about these group of flowers. The mother's flowers we agreed on were suppose to be corsages. Somehow, they ended up being larger boutonnieres which were dripping water all over their dresses the entire night. Unfortunately, we could have received the same or higher quality work that was closer to our specifications for a more reasonable price at another floral shop which is truly disappointing as you came recommended by the venue." read more
