We went in to get a bolt to fit a lid on a pot. George helped us but we were unable to find the size we needed. George determined the handle on the pot was plastic so he went and got a tool to rethread the hole in the pot handle to fit a bolt he had. You just can't find service like that anywhere but George was the exception to the rule. Thank you George!! read more

Ordered a $230 screen door from ace hardware-- took 3 weeks for it to be delivered to the store. I come to pick up the door and they hand it to me without any box, wrap, or protective device to transport it. Nobody offers to help or warn of how to transport the door. This thing is huge, won't fit well in a truck bed, so I had to improvise with a bungee cord. I drive 5 minutes from the store and a small breeze CRUSHES the door, ruining it. I drive straight back and ask what they can do for me-- the manager, Pete, rudely tells me there's nothing he can do besides a 10% discount off a new door. No one offers to exchange or even help to fix it. As I leave the store, the employees are laughing at me as I walk out with my new ruined door. Definitely won't be giving my business to this place with rude and unhelpful employees/managers. read more

My husband went to ACE, today, 3.6.25. And was on FaceTime with me. We needed to fix a wall, in our home. So he decided to go to ACE. With several photos of our wall. We didn't think it would be a hassle to find at least a similar color. I asked my husband was he being assisted with making a selection. And some old guy with glasses just stood there and said "I can't do anything without a picture to scan". I asked him, over the phone, so you can't use your experience and at least give us a color scheme, a sample card or something to help us pick out the paint"?? He just kept repeating himself. Sooo my husband left. Now, here's my concern, if you work at a hardware store or any store for that matter, I'm sure your job description stated you should have knowledge or maybe they'll train you. No one said, we were gonna buy paint today. Just wanted to get an ideal, of what color would be close or similar! This guy's attitude definitely didn't portray "good customer service". Usually really like this store because it is so close to the Air Force base. But I went in for a 1/2" drill bit today for a project I needed one that would fit in a hand drill. I asked the help desk for the size and model I needed. The man was very helpful until I realized he had sold me THE MOST EXPENSIVE 1/2" drill bit I've ever seen in my life. $30 for a drill bit by Cobalt. I paid, got back in my car and looked up on ace hardware that this location HAD IN STOCK the same size drill bit and model for $9 by Milwaukee. I have never felt more scammed in my life that this old man would take advantage of me like that. read more

Always so friendly. They are very busy and always seem to have enough people to cover. I called ahead for a pro-max no ladder stick so we could put lights up on our home. They had one left and kindly held it for me. When I got there they were super friendly and worked well together while being super busy. This is my go to place for screws. Yes, screws. Have you ever needed one screw and didn't want to buy a "small" pack of 100 from another store? Or the multi pack with four of what you need and everything you don't? Well, me too. I drove to closer competitor and all I did was waste time and lucky me no one walked by to help. Then a light bulb went off ... or fell in the other isle and I remembered Ace. Here I am and I found exactly what I needed and didn't have to buy a pack. It has the small time feel yet somehow stocked with the essentials. Customer service is always on par plenty of associates asking if you need help. The cashier Gaby was super friendly. No line. Loved going to this place to support a local business. I am a rewards member and was told they would honor expired coupons. They have for at least the last two years. Went in Wednesday for two different transactions and the manger said they only accept expired coupons that are not past 30 days old. She took the one for $5 off $20, but would not honor my $20 off $100. Said "That's too much money". read more

Because I have a below ground, manual on/off valve for my drip system, I wanted to make a device similar to the water main shutoff tool (too narrow for my needs). And, to have it look better than the piece of poplar that I've been using. While ACE would have had everything I needed, unfortunately, the 1/2 inch PVC pipe is only 2 feet long. So, I bought 2 pieces to make the handle, the U joint that will fit over the On-Off Valve, and if needed, to extend the length of the device. However, when I was shopping for the Ts and 90 degree Angle pieces, they were out of Couplers. So, anyone doing plumbing work with 1/2 inch PVC would have a problem. I don't shop here often. But, when I do, this is the first time that they didn't have everything I need. read more

How many times do you go into a hardware store and get asked "do you need help finding something"? At Ace, it is very frequent; unlike big box hardware stores, and with fairly knowledgeable staff too! I actually enjoy going there, and am usually in and out much faster with exactly what I need. Shelves are kept stocked, you can find what you need or very easily get help to find something. Prices, well, perhaps a bit higher than the big boxes here and there, but for my day to day needs, I'm fine with Ace and appreciate having Floyd's near by when needed. Love the military parking outside, and I'm not even military. Pretty solid selection of goods overall, albeit for some stuff I have to go to big boxes. thanks Floyd! Went in to get a key fob programmed. Don't ask for Ed the manager. He had very poor customer service and pretty much told me he could not do it. He even told me to reprogram the key myself. I guess they don't need the business. Then he told me he could not go outside the store to program because he was the only manager there? Why didn't he just start with that instead of wasting 15 minutes with me. I thin he was just lazy. He did all of this to a customer in front of his young male co- worker. They make mailbox keys!!! And quick!!!

I was in need of a Uhaul rental and notice they always had 2 or 3 trucks parked outside. I needed a pull behind trailer so never stopped in. I ended up heading down this past week to pick up some screws. I was surprised to see they had a full blow Uhaul section with all the bells and whistles. Turns out they have all the trucks and trailer sizes available. Great service to boot. It was nice with them being so close. They even had after hours drop off available. Highly reccommend for Uhaul needs. read more

He was happy to help in any way possible and gave us a bit of advice on moving furniture without damaging it, as well. I looked all over for a lamp repair store. It seemed that there were no such establishments. It then occurred to me that some of the Ace Hardware stores in Washington did light repairs so I took a chance and called the Litchfield Park store. The manager, Odis, told me to bring it in, they would see what they could do. I did, they worked on it for at least 20 minutes to a half an hour, took it apart, replaced a 54 cent something or other and put it back together. They charged me for the part only, no labor. They were courteous, helpful, knowledgable and all around Boy Scouts. I haven't been so impressed by a culture of customer service in I don't know when. I felt like I had time warped back to the fifties. Thank you to Odis and Mick, you made my week and saved my antique mall bargain lamp. read more

Ordered online for in store pick up on 12/8. Expected pick up 12/10. Called 12/14, product didn't arrive yet. Received an emailed today, 12/17, that it was cancelled and funds returned. No explanation. Go to the website and still able to purchase...this is why there are barely any ACE Hardware stores left, because they can't seem to figure things out. This place is really great! I am so glad to have a local hardware store that has the product I need, has terrific customer service and knowledgeable staff. Dennis, the owner is almost always available. This store is a world away from the brain dead idiots that roam the floors of Depot and Lowes. Why would anyone go to the home of the brain dead to save 5 cents when they can go to Litchfield Park Ace, support local business and get guidance on the products that they actually need and work! I saw a couple of negative reviews for this store and was shocked as I have been a customer for years and have never had a bad experience even if I needed to return something that I bought in error. Ace Hardware is a hybrid hardware store. They are bigger than the old time hardware stores which unfortunately are a dying breed (I miss the the 'good old days) and smaller than the big orange box stores. Like their smaller counterpart the staff is usually knowledgable and can help you with questions about your project. For the most part sell quality products and have things you just can't find (well locally, the Internet changes that game). Though they can be a bit more expensive than the box stores, people are available to help you without the customary eye roll the big boxers provide free of charge. Although Ace is a national chain most if not all the stores are privately owned franchises so you get the national warranty on Ace products. This particular Ace has a helpful staff, friendly and knowledgable, though they not carry every name brand, they usually have an Ace equivalent that is usually acceptable. I've had them order products for me in the past and the items usually arrive within a couple days. I admit I don't always shop there, but split my business between them and the big box store. read more

This place doesn't even deserve the one star I gave them, but it is required to write this post. Probably the worst customer service I've ever dealt with, and I work in customer service as a barista for Starbucks. I literally get paid to kiss people's ass, so on my off days I'd maybe appreciate a little ass kissing from other companies such as Ace, to whom I paid $74 today for a uhaul. Also, I'm here EVERY week buying water from them. As I was waiting now to return my uhaul, I thought I'd buy a bag of chips to snack on. But employees SABRINA and CHRISTINA literally stood there and played with their phones while I was standing right in front of them. I get home and realize I've forgotten my keys in the truck. I call, no keys. 10 minutes later while I'm frantic looking for my keys, they call back and my mother picks up the phone. Uhaul services employee JOSH was extremely rude to my mom, and when I got on the phone he just hung up. I arrive back at Ace and JOSH says "whoever answered the phone wasn't very nice to me." He then continued to engage in a screaming match with my mother across the store. This is probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and I do not usually waste time on writing reviews. I understand working in customer service can be difficult, but I do know it's not curing cancer and you can successfully execute your main goal of "keeping the customer happy," without being an asshole. I will be in again tomorrow to speak with the manager. read more

Waited 10 minutes in line for change for a $100 bill...which never showed up. Took only the one thing I needed and left the rest. Paid by credit card when i did not want to just so I could finally get out of there. Horrible customer service. Felt bad for the cashier, you could tell even he was embarrassed as he helped at least 6 other customers while I was waiting. He did apologize. read more
