Great food, great view. It was my first time going to this place which I was surprised to find out a restaurant located in the Harbour Air terminal in Richmond. We did not mind waiting for half an hour to be seated on the patio as we wanted to experience the view as it is situated over the water, which gives a fantastic sight of the ocean, sunset as well as departing and arriving seaplanes. The foods we ordered were; Poutine ($12.50) we loved this for it's rich gravy, cheesy and crispy fries. Sunday Chicken pizza ($10)- since it's Sunday, they have a discount for pizzas; this was so good, thin-crust yet meaty. Calamari ($14.50)-so good as well, not oily, crispy, flavoursome which end us to order another one. Garlic Fries ($8)- crispy good flavoured fries Chicken wings ($14)- saucy, tasty and hot. We enjoyed our food but wished we didn't drive so we could have cocktails . The service was pleasant and efficient, our server was attentive and good at suggesting food choices. Overall, this place is highly recommended; I suggest booking, and go during sunset time for a more excellent view. I used to work at the airport so this was a place we frequented back then. That being said I never ordered the pad Thai. To be honest I don't know why. But it surprised me! Last take out 1/21/2121 uber delivery Last dine in November 2018 Since Covid, some restaurants have been cutting corners for their take out offerings, and some stepping up and delivering takeout equal to (or even better) than their dine-in fare. The Beaver definitely falls into the latter. First off, the Biplane Burger: We used to literally go here mainly for their awesome take on the cheeseburger. 6oz patty, optional bacon, carmalized onions and mushrooms. Simply renamed their cheeseburger, or the fully loaded Bad Boy Burger with all the toppings. Haven't had one in a while but it was a 5 star burger. Buffalo Chicken Wrap Previous visit it was perfect, 5 stars 10/10, but latest visit some bites were a touch salty so 4.75 stars. But still excellent. Fresh and tasty, with a nice mild kick, tastes like a non deep fried version of Fat Burger or Canadian Brewhouse Buffalo Chicken burger 5 stars. The fries were still great (the same as Costco, iCafe). 4.75-5 stars Clam Chowder more than a bit salty, delicious once the Mrs added some milk and reheated. 3.75 stars before, 4.5 after. Pesto Shrimp Pizza Fantastic thin crust, the shrimp & spinach pair well, but it's missing some acidity; everything else is quite bassy. Perhaps pineapples, cherry tomatoes, or even a tangy sauce. 4 stars. Seafood Avacado Salad Sandwich with Caesar: Like an upscale tuna sandwich; the Mrs loved it, but I also felt it could've used a bit more acidity. 4.25 stars. The Caesar salad was underwhelmingly average though. We've also come for breakfast/brunch. While not in the same elevated league as Jam Cafe (Vancouver/Victoria) or Citizen Cafe in Barcelona, it's really good, hearty fare. Recommended: Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Bad Boy Burger, Seafood Sandwich, Beaver Hash Avoid: Nothing in particular. Overall 8.5/10, 4.25 stars. Wish they weren't occasionally a touch heavy handed with the salt, but always hearty, filling and flavourful. read more

Recently visited Flying Beaver Bar again for the Dine Out Vancouver menu and it was surprisingly good!! I had the steak bites for appy, sirloin for entree and tirimisu for dessert. The steak bites were a bit on the salty side but the sirloin and dessert was definitely the highlight of the dinner! The sirloin was cooked perfectly with some green beans and mashed potatoes in the side. The tirimisu was made just how I like it with traditional macarpone cheese and had all the flavours and textures you expect! And the best part these days is that they even offer takeout for the DOV menu. Even when it was takeout the food tasted just as great when it was lightly heated back home. I also have been to Flying Beaver previously for breakfas. The experience was just as great. They have a fantastic view of the water as well so make sure you catch a seat by the windows if you like to you a little view. My table had the smoked salmon hash and shrimp ommelett and they were both presented beautifully and tasted great and was super filling! Overall a nice experience here for a nice tucked bar right by the water with city dining flair. read more

This is one of the coolest places to go in Richmond. It is by the old Vancouver airport and right on the river. The food is absolutely exceptional and the pulled pork poutine is some of the best I've had. I've also been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is highly highly recommended. read more

Have come back a few times as thr view is great. With COVID, they made another patio area just off to the side of the place (between the road and shore). We were lucky to be on the main patio area as it was breezy. It still doesn't allow reservations so it's first come first serve. It's a decent size place so it is okay. When it's really nice out, there would be a long wait. This time they had 2 for 1 appies so we had a few and a couple of drinks. I didn't take any photos of the food as we were hungry. The service was good but a bit slow, which we didn't understand as it was just patio seating ( no indoor dining yet). All in all, it was good. We do come back for the view and patio. read more

The view is awesome and the food is too! They had a few vegan options and I ended up getting the Asian tofu with vegetables and rice. Can't remember what it's called but it was so delicious! I also got their garlic fries which you cannot go wrong with. So good! My friend got the fish and chips and enjoyed it very much. We both got drinks, he got beer and I got a strawberry margarita which didn't even taste like a margarita. It tasted more like a smoothie Lol I didn't even taste or feel the alcohol. At $10 the aperol spritz is already great value but the $8 sunset soda absolutely steals the show ! Fish and chips ? Decent . Hawaiian pizza ? Awesome ! ! There's just one exception : calamari at $17 is stingy in portion and substantially less crunchy and tasty than the others . Ugh! We were excited to come here for fish and chips. What a disappointment! We were there this past May. I'm just now catching up on reviews, but wanted to warn others away from this place. There was very little fish under all the soggy breading. It was only a little crispy on the very outside layer. Couldn't eat it. The service was nice and I suppose some people would like the view of the planes however, the planes coming and going spew a lot of exhaust. I don't recommend it. We had to go to the South terminal of YVR to pick up the lovely K's Mom at 5:45 PM on a rainy Friday. We were quite early so we decided to grab a quick bite to eat once we got out there. The Flying Beaver is an iconic place that K had been to a few times, myself, this was my first. Once seated we realized we didn't have as much time as we had hoped. Our server Ashton took great care of us, making sure we weren't late for our pick up. Our beverages, water, and potato skins arrived quickly, as did our bill when requested. The place was pretty full and yet we got in and out in about a half hour thanks to Ashton. He was very polite and accommodating when we explained our lack of time, so a big thank you to him and the entire staff. We hope to be back soon to get the full experience with plenty of time. Came here with a few friends for a quick bite and to enjoy the sunset view on the Fraser River. The building is shared by the restaurant and Harbour Air seaplanes. Limited parking in front of the restaurant so park across the street but read the sign to make sure you are parking in spots for the restaurant. They have daily specials for each day of the week. We came specifically for the wing special on Sunday (also on Wednesday too). Chicken wing are .60 cents each after 4:30pm with a minimum order of 10 + a drink order. Regular price is $12. For the wings, we ordered: Thai Chili, BBQ, Lemon Pepper and Seasame Szechuan. Of the four flavours, lemon pepper and Szechuan are my favourite. For the drinks we also order the daily special: I had the Jalapeño Caesar which was nice and spicy with a good kick and my friend had the Red Truck Lager. One friend ordered the BBQ ribs-half. A good portion size and the meat was soft with a good amount of bbq sauce. The scallop potato was very tasty given I'm not a big potato fan. Overall, I enjoyed this place The food is good, great ambiance, and the service was not fast as it was busy but efficient. I would come again for the views and try other foods. read more

We love coming to the Beaver for wings night on Wed. They have a variety of flavours in batches of 10 and happy hour deals everyday! It gets super busy so come early and put your name down. You used to have to find your own seats but they got rid of that which is so much better. Besides wings night, I come here often to enjoy their breakfast. The smoked salmon hash is incredibly filling and flavourful. They load it up with smoked salmon, potatoes, peppers all topped with 2 soft poached eggs and a heaping of hollandaise. I've also had the beef brisket hash which is also amazing. Flying beaver also has a great patio with a beautiful view for the sunset. Good place to hang out with friends or for a romantic first date. If you have to wait for a table, go out for a walk on the dyke and enjoy the sea planes as they take off and land on the water in front of you. read more

Incredibly disappointing. Their quality in food has gone way down. Ordered the cheeseburger and garlic fries. Gave us regular fries by accident. Ah well. Burger tasted like it was a frozen dry patty. The most unimpressive burger ever. McDonald's would've been better. Fries weren't seasoned for sure. Yam fries on the other hand were crispy and delicious. Chicken wings. Pretty good. Still prefer the ones at legends. At least they were meaty though. Fish tacos. A solid 1/5. Bland. Completely bland. So disappointed. So where does on begin it's Sunday afternoon and we're having lunch with the in-laws. We get seated in the middle table by the window ( spectacular view of the sea planes) now it took about 15 min for us to even get a glass of water ( which we had to ask for). The waiter came back and it seemed that he was put out for whatever reason, he mumbled something then shuffled away. He came back about 10 more minutes later took our order and we never saw him again. The dishes arrived by the kitchen runners. Another waiter came by about 15 min after that asked how was the meal and was gone. The table directly next to us was flipped 3 times and got way more service than our table. The dishes were piling up and we couldn't even get the plates cleared. My wife had to buss our own table, instead of a staff member being embarrassed they were like of thank you oh so much, my wife made 3 trips. Now I've been coming here on and off since the 90's and recently the service is declining, will I be coming back I'm not sure the food is excellent but the service is lacking I'll be hard pressed to go back, I would have given no stars like the tip they received but the food was great. read more

Great place. I was introduced to this place by a friend who is a regular here. I've been here several times now and really enjoy it. Casual restaurant and great location near the airport in the south terminal. I love taking people here with quick stopovers but has time to leave the airport and or come hear before dropping someone off. Food is great and great view of seaplane taking off and landing. My friends from Japan had several hours to kill in YVR I took them here and the kids just loved it watching the seaplane. I've had happy hour, brunch and breakfast here all pretty good. This was the first place that I ate breakfast at during my time in Vancouver for my trip and it was amazing! I visited this restaurant today at 9:20 A.M. and it was pretty quiet inside the restaurant. Also, the service was good when I was ordering my food and asking questions. Furthermore, the staff was extremely nice. The first item that I ordered was the Belgian Waffles which were crispy and crunchy on the outside. Also, the inside of the waffles were soft and it had the perfect level of flavor. The second item that I ordered was the Beaver Omelette which contained rich, smoky bacon. Also, the egg had a good texture and the dish had a wonderful level of flavor. Furthermore, the hash browns had the perfect texture and flavor. In addition, the sourdough bread was crispy, crunchy, and had the perfect level of sourness. So I have to say I heard about Flying Beaver Bar in the past and have wanted to try this place for a long time. Only one issue I have is that its near the airport and its not easy to get to without a car. So today, I finally got a chance to try out Flying Beaver. Lets start with the pros: -Wow they have some pretty good wings. Wings Wednesday for only $6 with a purchase of a drink - Water view is nice but unfortunately I am not able to see outside because it was super dark -Free parking Now to the Cons: -The place is remote and will require effort to get to. -Place is small -Expect to wait for a table -Service is ok but not wow So I came with SH and we got 3 different kinds of wings to share. We got honey garlic, Sweet chili Thai and Teriyaki. The wings were pretty good. I do like the fact that they were crispy. I didn't like the Halloween decorations on the wall. It was just annoying and the reason why I say this was because the spider webs were beside us and it kept on getting hooked to our cloths and food etc. Just annoying. I ordered an ice tea and was shocked on the amount of ice they added to my ice tea. It was basically ice with very little tea. Also they charged more for ice tea because they considered that as juice. If I knew, I would have just ordered orange juice instead. So one thing that amazed me was their washroom. This is the first time I have seen a stepNpull in the washroom. Yes it is literally called a StepNpull. You step on it and you would pull the door with your feet so after going to the washroom and have washed your hands, you don't have to touch the dirty door/door knob. WOW. I am so amazed about that. The food is really a 3 stars but that StepNpull in the washroom gave it that one extra star making it 4 stars. read more

This place is always a classic go to place especially when your craving some bar-style foods. For a limited time they even have a holiday menu! * Holiday Menu ($26 - 3 course meal). We got the New England Clam Chowder, this was phenomenal it was thick, rich and creamy. Loads of seafood and filling, it was very well seasoned and perfect texture. We also chose the 6oz Sirloin Steak medium rare, nicely cooked, and came with scalloped potatoes and mushrooms. The sauce was more on the tangy side, reminded me of Chinese style steak. The tangy seasoning was not my cup of tea at all. Dessert came with a chocolate mousse which was super rich. It reminded me of a brownie as it tasted like one. It was super rich, sweet and airy. I do wish it was a tad less sweet as it was on the sweeter side perfect for major sweet tooths. * Nachos ($17) ~ This was crazy loaded! It had a lot of filling on top, and I love how it comes with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. Next time I would ask for less jalapenos and olives as it was crazy loaded with those. Lots of cheese and the chips were super crunchy and best part not too oily. * Bad Boy Burger ($18) ~ This is an ultimate go to burger here, It is fully loaded with caramelized onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickle, cheese, bacon, and mushroom, it was super juicy and delicious. I got it with a side of fries. * Also got a pepsi and beer. * 8/10 ~ It was all super delicious, only off thing for me was the steak as the seasoning was way too tangy, and the chocolate mousse was a tad too sweet but overall good place for nachos and burgers! * 8/10 ~ the portions here are good but the price is somewhat average now compared to most places. First off, I must compliment the name of this place. Flying Beaver is by far such a Canadian name and bonus it sounds dirty. Based on the name alone you should check this place out. Moving on, the place is a hole in the wall busy pub. I was told by my friend that locals and pilots come here for food and drinks all the time. The place was indeed very busy on a Sunday night and somehow my friend and I were able to score a spot at the end of the bar. Of course, some guy started to hit on us using the line, do you come here often and if we were sisters. We both scored a free drink out of it and some small talk. The drink selection varied from cocktails, beers, wines, and cider. I opted for a few ciders and my friend had wine. For my dinner, I was torn between a few different menu items but settled on the Wild BC salmon burger on a gluten free bun and yam fries. The server was very accommodating to my food sensitivities (dairy and gluten) and to my friend who has Celiac. It should be noted that the salmon burger was not a grounded up patty but instead a salmon filet. The salmon was slightly overcooked but was able to maintain a good flavor. The yam fries were cooked to perfection and could have eaten more of them. I did think the service was on the slower side but like I mentioned before it was quite busy on a Sunday night. It is located in the same strip where all the seaplane terminals are, in fact it shares the same building as one of the operators! I love their setting, very unique to have pub perched on the river and while you are having your drinks, you can relax and watch the seaplane take off or "land" ( don't know the correct term for landing on water ). I love their appetizers and drink specials, but what brings me back is their succulent Wild BC Salmon Burger! With a generous portion of salmon grilled to perfection it is hard to beat! I usually ask for extra tartar sauce on the side! So if you are in town and want something out of the ordinary, come here for a beer or some finger food, enjoy the river scene and also check out the skills of the pilots that flies the seaplanes! Flying Beaver is one of my favourite western restaurants in Richmond and not only they have good food, they also have a riverside patio which gives you a great sunset view!⁠ Due to restrictions, they currently don't have any specials (no Wings Wednesdays) but I still recommend their wings! I actually feel like they take more time to put on more sauce or spices when you order during normal times! My favourite is lemon pepper for wings. The portions here are huge to me at least. Even their garlic toast side for some dishes like the Mac N Cheese is pretty big. Their waiter and service were great. When they made a mistake on our order, they actually decided to give the mistake one for free even though we still offered to pay for it (my friend was hungry) and came with the correct dish. Very willing to communicate with us. Although it's a bit far out, it's worth and if you come, ask for the patio especially if it's the summer but it's a view to behold! read more

This was my first visit back here since Covid19 happened. On a Sat afternoon if wasn't hard to find a table. They have spaced out the tables, the patio is still open and the servers wear masks. There is hand sanitizer at the entrance. I had the Cobb salad for $18. It's large, filling and tasty. It came with bacon, blue cheese, egg, grilled chicken and dressing on the side (if you request that). There were no drink specials, but you can get draft beer for $6.50 and house wine for $6.50/glass. The atmosphere is open, welcoming and light. There's a good selection of food on the menu. It's a solid choice for a pub restaurant with great views of the river and water planes. read more

They forgot a friend's order, overcharged us after "correcting" the bill, and the food was not even very good. The table we were at was way too small to be seated at, and for some reason the servers continually brought stacks of 10+ napkins to us... we ended up with about 50, mostly unused. Incredibly wasteful and bizarre. It seemed to me like this place has just been coasting off their nice view by the water. Nachos were soggy, fries I'm pretty sure were from the grocery store's frozen aisle (side-order fries aren't on the menu, probably for a reason), and drinks all tasted watery with truckloads of sugar mixed in. What was actually decent: the burger, pizza, potato skins. I say decent though, but at the price you're honestly so much better off going to Cactus, Earl's, or even McDonald's (at least you won't feel ripped off). Cool place, they have the float planes coming in and out from the docks right there by the window or the patio if you're outside. Good service, drinks are not cheap. 14$ for a 5 oz of Pinot Grigio... Food was ok - good. They have specials every nights. Was there on the Tuesday taco. 16$/4 tacos. Good choice variety meat and fish tacos and they were tasty. No flavor in the mushrooms either. My son's burger was off too. They got the order wrong. The meat tasted funky. His fries were tasteless too. No salt anywhere.
