I missed my ferry lol. So I had hours to kill. I went to the bar with my luggage. It was raining and it was gonna be an all day travel day, so I found refuge here! Elizabeth at the bar was very attentive. I ordered the soup of the day, a single piece of battered fish (instead of a full fish and chips), and a beer. They have a good beer selection and some cans to-go. I also ordered a tea. I was able to charge my electronics and work on my laptop a bit. Overall, I recommend the place! There were lots of TVs playing Olympics when I went. They had booth seating, high tables, and bar stools. Probably your best option in Horseshoe Bay. There's not a lot around but this place had a decent veggie burger with yam fries and a huge serving of nachos with cheese and vegetables. First off, the views are really what made us decide on this place while waiting for the ferry. The service was ok we asked for a spot out on the empty patio, and we were sat by the bar. We asked again to be on the patio, and the person rolled their eyes while they moved us finally to the patio. The menu is pretty decent but can be on the pricey side but then remember the neighbourhood you are in. I fancied the Yorkshire Pudding, and it was gigantic. I was not expecting that portion size, and I certainly could not have finished it in one sitting. It looked more appetizing than it was, sadly. It lacked flavour, and I'm talking just basic seasoning like salt and pepper. That is no way it would make up for the lack of flavour, but at some point, I would have taken it. Overpriced for the food. The only real reason for the two stars is the view from the patio was enjoyable until the ferry arrived. If it wasn't for that then it would have been 1 star. read more

I have tried a few items on various visits - Calamari, Coconut Prawns, Fish Tacos, Pulled Pork Poutine, and they were all delicious. My absolute favorite and highly recommended dish would be their Yorkshire Pudding! This stuffed puff pastry is so giant, I usually don't add sides and would always pack half to go or split it with someone. It's full of garlic mash, shaved roast beef, caramelized onions, and gravy, this savory dish makes the perfect comfort food. Such a great cozy pub!! It was our first time, but not the last. We seated at the bar, and Barman was very courteous and attentive . Pretty disappointed with my most recent visit. I was ordering a beer for my foreign boyfriend who will often ask me to order for him if his favourite beer is not available. The server didn't ask what I wanted, just brought two pints of the beer I ordered for my guy. When I told her I wanted a different beer for myself, she argued saying it was what I ordered (but she never confirmed one or two beers). Never mind, I told her I'd drink it. Lovely spot. Decent food but little bugs crawling on booths - maybe fruit flies? I had the veggie quinoa burger and found it to be quite dry and a little bland. The salads were good - fresh veggies and a yummy house dressing! The clam chowder was different (more like a chicken noodle cooked in the homestyle way) but definitely good. There were a great selection of drinks here and something for every taste. Our group included a GF person, two IPA drinkers, and one fruit/sour beer lover. Everyone found something to satisfy their tastes. The restaurant has the perfect location across from Sewell Marina and is designed to maximize the small space adjacent to the walkway outside. went to troller ale house during the last 3 minutes of the hockey game to catch the end of the game and have a beer before the ferry. I was greeted by a nice woman who asked if I was wanting to watch the game I said yes and she sat me down all was good until the server came, an older aged man, maybe the manager. He was extremely rude to me and treated me with utter disrespect, raising his voice at me, calling me childish and disrespectful for only ordering a water. Tried this pub for a change on our stopover after a difficult hike. We both ordered Fish and Chips and Clam Chowder soup. The restaurant was not busy so were seated right away. The staff are friendly and the place was very nice. The Clam Chowder was good, the coleslaw have a bland taste due to lack of dressing. Fries were okay but a bit smaller in serving size. Bottom line, best bar food I've had anywhere. We stumbled upon Troller in the quaint community of Horseshoe Bay and decided to stop in for a quite bite before trekking back to YVR for our flight home. We ordered the pulled pork tacos and BBQ wings. Both were excellent, and the wings were delightfully crisp - would love to know their secret. We arrived to a few tables occupied but by the time we departed around 4 pm it was a packed house with a diverse crowd. Next time we'll hope to explore more of this cute area! read more

When our food came my husbands halibut was about 2 inches by 2.5 inches and about half an inch high- and with a spare odd piece the size of a quarter thrown to the side. Seriously looked like it may have weighed about 1.5-2 ounces. We all looked at it as if it were a joke. I asked the waitress "there must be some mistake- I have never seen an entree of fish this small- is this an appetizer?" She said "yes-it is- our entrees are 3.5 ounces" (which is ridiculously small portion- but this was smaller than even that would be). I said "oh that explains why it is so small" and my husband then said "I didn't realize I ordered off the appetizer section". We all laughed and offered to share our food with him- with her standing right there with us- Imagine our shock when the bill came and it was charged at entree price of $18! We asked her why and her ACTUAL answer was "we don't have halibut appetizers so that WAS our entree. You must have misunderstood me..." What in the actual heck?!? Service was meh even if that didn't happen. Atmosphere was good. View of the harbor was nice. Prices a bit high for what they offer. We ordered the following: Quinoa with salmon instead of seared tuna- $16-another "misunderstanding" as she said "to make the change it would probably be the same price-but could be $1 more or less than the Tuna". She added $2. Caesar salad bland and over dressed $9.95 Nachos with cheese good and plentiful $12+4+3 =$19!!! A bit pricey for nachos Added chicken $4 Added guacamole $3(!) The walls are filled with 6 TVs and it even has a lotto machine. I ordered the Yorkshire Pudding and it was delicious. The dough was crispy yet soft and the mash was awesome. They have a very thick beef gravy and that complemented the roast beef very well. My friend ordered bangers and mash, and he quite enjoyed it as well. They have a pretty decent beer selection. Went here once for lunch and was so satisfied with the service and food that I went back again to try breakfast before our ferry sailing. My boyfriend couldn't stop praising the place and saying how much he'd recommend it. He had the breakfast corned beef omelet (?) which he said was to die for and some of the best breakfast he's ever had. I had the French toast with sausage. The sausage wasn't the cheap stuff you normally get, it was savoury and grilled. The French toast wasn't too sweet or too bland. Portions were perfect, I didn't feel over stuffed. Service was friendly and attentive and for the both of us, including coffee, we paid $27 which I thought was extremely fair, considering our how good our food was. The chorizo mac and cheese was good, however was a bit lacking in cheese. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by the pub before our ferry to Gibsons over the long weekend. The drinks were good and priced adequately. For our dinner we opted for a couple appies instead of entrees, but our food took quite a while that we were cutting it close to making our ferry on time. We ordered calamari, fish tacos, and hot chicken wings. The portions were a good size and we were both full after we finished the 3 dishes, but we do both have small stomachs. The fish tacos were our least favourite. It wasn't that the fish wasn't cooked properly, in fact it was, but it was a very small piece per taco. The fish had a tinyyy little drizzle of sauce over it on a bed of cabbage. I felt the dish was quite dry and it needed more sauce. The tacos came with guacamole as the base, or so it was advertised, but 2 of the tacos had probably less than a tablespoon and it was barely there. Meh, they weren't bad, but they weren't superb either. The calamari was average, but the batter was quite thick and I just prefer it lightly battered. The tzatziki sauce went well with the calamari and it was a very generous cup of sauce. Lastly, the chicken wings. They were my favourite, and I just always am in the mood for some good ol' chicken wings. I was very pleased that they offered blue cheese dip as that's my favourite with wings. We chose the hot flavour and it was pretty decent. There were 5 wings and 5 drumsticks which were perfect for us. I know some people don't eat drumsticks but for us, my boyfriend likes the wings and I only eat the drumsticks. It was a pretty average pub experience - nothing to complain about and nothing that was super memorable. Pretty safe bet in the Horseshoe Bay area. read more

My Dad and I ate here while waiting for our ferry. I ordered Sangria, which was basically watered fruit juice. For the cost, it was unacceptable so I took it back and asked for a different cocktail. Clearly annoyed, the bartender made me something different. Again, I was handed a watered down version of some cocktail on the menu with no sugar, even though the menu specified agave as an ingredient. I went back and asked why it tasted so bland, and the bartender responds with " we ran out of agave"..??? How does a bar run out of a main ingredient and not let customers know? Rather annoyed with me, he takes it back a mixes sugar into it.. telling me that's how agave is made..Now, I'm no mixologist but definitely certain that's incorrect. The bartender was in general rude, and the experience was pretty laughable. Food was totally fine! But wouldn't come back here ever again. read more

Great spot for a drink, especially when waiting for the ferry. There's a very good beer selection and usually a tasty guest tap, all at decent prices of $5-$7. The staff are friendly and efficient - they realise people might be in a rush. Lots of screens if you're looking to watch a game, and a heated patio looking out on the bay. I haven't tried the food but my boyfriend informs me the yam fries were good. All in all a great spot that doesn't exploit its monopoly on thirsty ferry passengers. read more
