We came here for dinner after a long day around Vancouver. We were starving. I ordered the Shrimp linguine and my wife got the cheeseburger. Both were extremely bland and flavorless. My shrimp linguine left much to be desired. The pasta was undercooked and there was barely has sauce or flavor. At least the shrimp was good. As for the cheeseburger, my wife described it as going to a backyard party and there were some leftover and stale burgers. Throw that into a bun and that's the cheese burger we got! Had a lovely time enjoying a nightcap next to my hotel. Bartender and everyone was great. Last call came at 1045 which is weird but whatever im not in my home town. Was wrapping up my drink and some red headed dude presumably a manager told me to hurry up they all wanted to go home. I was pretty appalled as a former restaurant owner and asked him are you asking me to leave early so you can go home? He said just saying you are the last one here and we want to go home. So ill be spending my money elsewhere as clearly visitors on a different time zone aren't welcome and frankly it was the rudest behavior I experienced in Vancouver. Don't waste your money here their manager is an idiot and doesn't know how to take care of business clients that may feel like 9 pm is 7 pm. Total asshole will never be back. read more

Attach to our hotel, we decided to head down for a late night happy hour food and drink. Happy hour for late night was from 9pm to close. There wasn't much diners and we were seated at a table right away. The happy hour prices were pretty decent once converted to US dollars. I ordered a Canadian beer that was on tap and it was pretty decent. They were all out of Blue Moon. I also ordered the Caesar salad that had big chunks of bacons. I did enjoy the refreshing salad with the croutons, but the bacon was too thick for me. The Buffalo wings were yummy as well. I like that the wings were crispy and small wings. This restaurant is in the lobby of the Hampton Inn where we stayed for 3 days. We went to several other restaurants in the area but on the last day didn't really want to drag out luggage somewhere else so we ate here. We were pleasantly surprised. Portion sizes were fine, but nothing stood out about the food itself. Fries were just okay, the California club came on a pretzel bun and sounded great on paper, but it sort of missed the mark. You know, the kind of place that you just go back to for consistently great happy hour pricing, familiarity and good patio vibes? Legit, the happy hour beer is $4. FOUR DOLLARS. I could stop writing right now and that would be reason enough. But also, the happy hour food is a stellar deal as well; the portions for it aren't some cut down cheap version either. It's this whole giant plate of food. Overall though, the staff here is awesome. The service literally is head and shoulders above most places we've been to (which is a whole lot, I'm not a great cook). What a great bar in Vancouver! I stumbled upon this place after I left a douchey brewery nearby and saw the outdoor sign here that said, "Happy Hour Pints $4"! YES, PLEASEEEEEE. The patio was packed with a bunch of sports fans (and their dogs!), but wanted to find a place at the bar, with an outlet so I could charge my phone. As soon as I walked in one of the employees asked if he could help me, and I mentioned that I wanted to sit at the bar, to charge my phone. He pointed out where at the bar I could sit, as they would allow me to use their outlets at the bar if I just told the bartender. It was a great first impression and my experience here only became better, with the bartender, Andrew. Andrew was super helpful and after I asked him about the wifi and told it was a little wonky, he would check up on me, to make sure that I was able to get internet - which was crucial since I wasn't using my data plan, so needed wifi for everything while I was in another country. Throughout my entire time at Bogart's - Andrew made my time here all the more fun, and I saw that he would make conversation with everyone at the bar. He even would recommend places to visit after finding out I was traveling and what my interests are. For the drafts - I was happy to find that all of the beers on tap were local. I tried two of the IPAs on draft, which Andrew was well-informed about, by explaining the different breweries and styles for each. He was not only friendly but knowledgeable about the booze. Bogart's is located right by the stadium and it was a game day for the football league in Canada during my visit, so the place was packed with sports fans. There were TVs playing sports in the bar area, and there's a full food menu and patio out on the front. If I were local - this would be a great spot for me to catch the games. Plus, you can't beat that happy hour!! Wish we had more places like this in the Seattle area with four-dollar beers! read more

We visited this restaurant, located across the street from BC Place and next door to a Hampton Inn, in April. The vibe was very laid back and we could sing the words of every song on the evening's mix. My wife recently has had to adhere to some rigorous dietary restrictions. Happy to say that a fantastic server, Kirsten, was able to offer variations on their dishes that omitted the restricted foods, and we ended up eating dinner their 3 out of 4 nights! I had something different each night (a burger, carnitas tacos, and penne arrabbiata) and it was all delicious! Service was always spot on, beer was tasty, and the food was delicious. So I was staying in the Hampton Inn. Not feeling the need to venture far I ordered room service from the in-house place: Bogart's. I ordered Buffalo Cauliflower and a Beef Dip sandwich. Initially I was told my meal might take 30 mins. However it arrived in 15. Very impressed. The Buffalo Cauliflower was very good and the blue cheese dip the perfect counter to the Buffalo sauce. My only peeve was some of the Cauliflower portions were a rather big. But this is a minor issue. The beef dip sandwich was a toasted baguette with an au jus and fries. The fries were very good. The beef dip was a bit of a hot mess. The sandwich couldn't be broken down in to a smaller pieces for dipping. However, the baguette was very good and the shaved roast beef was very tasty. The odd thing I did note nor was it even offered was a beverage. I had to run down a flight of stairs to the ice machine / water dispenser. Another sleepy spot for a Saturday night in this area. Only 6 of us in here and 4 of 6 were smart enough to sit at the bar. I'm one of them. There's a charming Scottish bloke to my right, who's friends with the super awesome bartender(Emily) and their repartee is pretty hilarious. I just found out that the Scot also bartends here and his name is Matt. Even though he didn't serve me, I'm pretty positive you will be lucky to have him tending bar when you visit. I would put money on it. And to my left are a very cute pair. One part fabulous gay guy, one part delightful gal pal. There's a couple behind us at the fireplace. The guy must've sneezed a dozen times. He would stop and then start up again. Us bar flys were cracking up and withdrawing "bless you"s and giving him shit. Then we were all laughing. Funny the things that spontaneously bring us together. Watching Emily make cocktails, you can tell she takes it seriously. Btw, they have a great cocktail menu. Oh, and the MUSIC. Lured down to Bogart's Bar and Restaurant by my friend for happy hour and found it nice and quiet at 4pm. We got our choice of seating -- normal tables, booths, and higher bar chairs around smaller tables. TIP: Some seats are close to the doors, and it being cold outside now, you may want to give those a pass if you can. Buffalo Cauliflower "Wings" ($8) buttermilk ranch sauce, celery sticks -Wow was this salty. But the ranch sauce toned it right down so use it. -Mildly hot with a heat that didn't linger in the mouth. Szechuan Brussels Sprouts ($8) crispy fried, spicy sesame dressing, toasted almonds -NOT marked "V" for vegetarian, so there's probably something to the sauce, which had a meaty taste to it (borrowed from steak jus?) -So salty! -Maybe at one point it was crispy, but after being bathed in that sauce... not anymore. Veggie Burger ($15) house-made black bean, almond, and mushroom patty; aged cheddar; roasted tomato relish; crispy onions; lettuce; roasted garlic mayo; on a toasted pretzel bun; served with your choice of fries, green salad, or daily soup -We asked for the burger to be cut in half, and half salad half fries and they accommodated. Also noticed they gave each side a pickle! -Somewhat soft patty squished out when I bit into it, so I ended up taking the top off and having this one open face, which worked out quite well. -Patty actually quite decent! Tasted mildly curried. Mushroom not ground in, so you occasionally got a slice and could taste the mushroom flavour. -Overall pretty decent as far as veggie burgers go, and OK portion-value for $15. -NOT too salty! My review is for their Happy Hour I get off work at 3:00 - 4:00 and often will have a quick drink/snack at local happy hours before taking transit home. Bogart's has become one of my go-to places. Craft beer (16 oz pours) at a mere $4.00! They also have a small Happy Hour food menu. I have had the mussels with frites (very good); cuban pork sandwich - piled with pork and tasty and their Szechuan Brussels Sprouts (sweet and spicey and great texture). All these food items are $8.00 each. Excellent value! It is usually quiet when I go (which suits me fine). I've been served by the same young woman each time - she is very pleasant. It is not fine dining, but not overly casual. It's just a good place to imbibe for a craft and a bite after work. read more

As a southerner in the Great North, I found that many of the foods that I take for granted are missing or just a bit different when visiting places like Vancouver. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as Bogart's proved. I'm used to bar food being things like grilled burgers, wings, and BBQ. Bogart's has a menu that is much more vegetarian friendly, but I found a burger featured and decided to try it. I'm used to burgers being beef (or sometimes bison or a beef/sausage blend) that is seasoned on the surface. Bogart's burger offering is one that almost certainly used a binder, which reminded me of a meatloaf sandwich. Being a good southern boy, this was definitely not a terrible thing and I quite enjoyed this change of pace. This burger paired well with a Canadian whisky cocktail and the fries were freshly cut and flavorful. I also tried the sticky toffee pudding. Again, my southern expectations were challenged as my concept of pudding tends to focus on Grandma's creamy banana pudding with Nilla Wafers. I knew bread confections are often called pudding, but this was the first I have been presented with. Reminding me of a ginger cake with a homemade caramel sauce, this was by no means a disappointing dessert. Quite the opposite; I really enjoyed the slightly spicy treat with the smooth caramel and vanilla gelato. Menu is small but has a good variety. Prices are good for this area. My husband had a Cuban sandwich which came on fresh crunch roll- it was excellent! I had the Bogart salad, fresh greens,goat cheese a fresh grilled chicken breast,avocado,egg and bacon- very satisfying. Every year, I head to BC to visit friends and eat their food. Generally I hit up new spots each time I go. I stayed at a hotel not far from Bogart's and wandered in one day during happy hour. FAT TUG IPA ($4): Beer thirty began with this gem from Driftwood Brewery. Enjoyed every sip/gulp of it -- to the point where I hit up BC Liquor Stores for three 22 oz bottles not long after. It's got a 95 on BeerAdvocate and 99 on RateBeer for a reason (as of 12/14/2015). Very balanced IPA and tasty. DUCK CONFIT FLATBREAD PIZZA ($8): Holy balls. The panda had to try this one for science. Moist, succulent duck with gruyere, mushrooms, arugula, and a sweet port reduction. Slight crunch in the flatbread, richness of the duck, reduction was on point. Serving size is anywhere from a decent appetizer to a small entree in my book. Good service on my visit. I came in when there was virtually no one else there, so I'm not sure how busy this place gets at peak feeding time. Still, a nice place to go in downtown Vancouver. read more
