The Worst place I've eaten in NWA for sure. The catfish fillet was about 1/8" thick AND like 5" long. I would not even consider that a "fillet". Must have cut the fillets with a razor blade. I should have gone elsewhere after I called to see if I needed a reservation and the guy said "It's not busy right now" and hung up on me. I went there anyway and fully regret it. My wife's Mahi sandwich was also 1/8" inch thick "fillet. $70 for the meal. What a rip off. Do not waste your money at this establishment. read more

Entering this humble restaurant clarified that the service or food would not be top notch but whenever I got my food out, the plate was so dirty and the amount of grease was astronomical. I got the gumbo slop and the fried frozen fish and I must say I am not impressed. Now the prices really reflected this as the food was somewhat cheap but I don't think I would pay this much for pig feed. First time at the Flying Fish. The decision to go there was influenced by the Support Ukraine campaign. The spicy grilled Mahi poor boy sandwich was awesome. On a recent visit to northwest Arkansas, my wife and I decided to try two famous catfish restaurants. Flying Fish in Bentonville was our second stop. Downtown Bentonville is very charming. Flying Fish has an old style diner vibe that we found to be cool and fun. The staff was friendly and obviously hard working, cheerfully handling a very busy night with efficiency. I ordered seafood gumbo. Having lived in Louisiana, I am quite particular about gumbo. This was some of the best I've ever had outside of southern Louisiana. Deep dark roux and lots of shrimp... excellent! The catfish was pretty good, but a little on the greasy side and much more greasy breading than fish. I honestly had a sense that this was an off night for the catfish. The hush-puppies were perfect. I wish I had ordered more. Fries were okay for me, but my wife loved them. The only real disappointment was the fried okra that was cold and not of good flavor. I appreciated the fact -admittedly a personal preference- that they had Coke products. I was making my trip a catfish weekend, but I love Louisiana crawfish. I didn't eat them on this visit but I couldn't help but notice that they looked really great. Next time I'll try them. Because of the greasiness of the fish and the okra I give Flying Fish four stars instead of five. Eat My Catfish in Rogers won my contest this weekend, but I am excited to visit Flying Fish again on my next Arkansas visit. I bet it will be better next time. read more

I also like that the condiments (ketchup, tartar sauce, etc.) are self serve. It can be annoying having to ask for extra this and extra that; just go get it yourself. I really wanted a nice piece of fish, but it was lost in the bread (which was soft, btw, but still). The tartar sauce is good here; I added some to my sandwich and some fresh lemon juice. I also added some of the pickled green tomatoes and jalapeño tobacco sauce to my sandwich, which was good. But the fact I had to add all of that says something. My brother ordered a red snapper plate which came with sautéed veggies. It looked appetizing, but he said it was pretty bland. My friend (who's vegetarian) got sautéed veggies, a salad, red potatoes and a basket of hush puppies. They aren't playin around with the hush puppies; there's a ton in a basket. She wound up sharing them with the whole table, and we all had several and there were still a lot left. Nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Good good. I snuck and tasted one of her potatoes and those were good. They looked to be cooked in butter and herbs. This place is heartburn city, though. Heart. Burn. City. read more

We had not been down to the FF in a couple of years! I have to say we loved the one in Little Rock and we also really liked the Bentonville location. That being said, we went to FF in Bentonville tonight and it was beyond terrible! We both got gumbo which was not awful. But everything else was horrible!i Got the hula poppers and they were full of grease and it tasted like old grease, disgusting and inedible. The margaritas were awful and I could not drink, the water tasted like soap and I assume that the glasses were not rinsed well. Salmon came as a tiny filet of Salmon with a lemon wedge,,,, nothing else,, just filet and lemon wedge on a piece of tin foil in a big container! Cheeseburger was the thinnest puck of meat I've ever seen and tasted burnt and tough. Corn on the cob tasted old and gross and Okra was not good either. plus the fries that came with burger weren't cooked. All in all,, by far worst place and biggest waste of money!
