Not Customer Service oriented. Would not allow use of last months coupon but the current Months coupon does not come out until the 4 th or 5th of each month. Manager on duty was rude and just laughed at me when I said I have used expired coupons before. I have eaten at this location since it opened. I will not be back to this location. The company has reached out to me and basically said use of their coupon is a bonus that they give their customers and they do not offer an apology for what happened. In fact I was told that they hand pick their employees and they find it unlikely that one of their employees was rude to me. I really love the food here. Its so flavorful and delicious. My husband loves it too. I'm not sure what to say except that the catfish is flakey and fresh and just a really yummy flavor to it. The BF and I are builing a house in the neighborhood, so every time we head out to Sachse to look at the property we try a new neighborhood joint. Last weekend we saw this place, and both of us having lived in Louisiana for years miss great seafood; specifically crawfish. Walked up to the counter we knew we were going to share some crawfish, so we got 2 lbs and we both choice the catfish & shrimp basket. Ordered an extra side of hushpuppies and fried okra. Bill ended up being kind of high, but we got a huge amount of food!! Food came to the table the hushpuppies are some of the best I've had. The catfish was hot and fresh. The shrimp were okay, but were out shined by the catfish. Okra was just right too. Now I know I will eventually have to stop comparing Texas crawfish to Louisiana crawfish, but I just don't understand why y'all put the seasonings on the outside instead of boiling the crawfish in some good spicy water. That being said, the crawfish were cooked well and really good sized. Once the house is finished we will defintely be stopping by more often. This place was an ok experience, but not amazing. The bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeno's were so overcooked, to the point of flavorless shriveled up dry bacon. I ate one and returned the rest. I ordered Jambalaya, not great but good. My husband had the "Snappy" grilled Grouper. He said the snappy flavor overpowered the Grouper and it was a little overcooked as well. The grilled veggies were good as well as the Key Lime Pie for dessert. The decor was fun and my husband really liked The Billy Bass Adoption Center display. I love this place! The food is so good, never too oily and my new favorite are the Jalapeño Poppers! Do not arrive too hungry, there is always a line and since they make everything fresh, it's not super fast after you order. It was only due to a flat tire across the highway that brought us to this location in Garland. While we waited for a tow truck, we decided to check out this location (already quite familiar with the Dallas/Preston location). It did not disappoint! Staff were super friendly. Food was fantastic. Being a newbie, can't say I'm impressed, but it wasn't terrible. The fillet was moist and tender, but the shrimp varied from overcooked and rubbery to soft, nearing being spoiled. The folks here are serious 'bout their fish! Theres a big menu when you first walk in. I recommend looking at it and deciding what you want before rubber neckin at all the neat objects d'fish all around you. I've had a shrimp po boy and a shrimp platter recently. Both were tasty, spicy (but not too much) and left me wanting to curl up and take a nap on the bench. But of courese that was never gonna happen on account of the open air cafeteria type floorplan. Dined here tons of times in the past but the first time to review. You walk in and place your order at the counter. There is a large menu selection. It may take some time to view before making you decision.. Daily specials during the week are also available! In my opinion Flying Fish has good catfish. I always end up getting the one of the combo baskets (catfish/ shrimp/ fries/ hush puppies). The portions are generous (almost too much to eat), yet when the meal is good you can't stop until it is all gone (clean plate club). The catfish is always served hot, and seems fresh. The fried shrimp is also pretty tasty. The boiled shrimp are always plump, but have little taste. The shrimp cocktails look good, but I have not ordered one (yet). The Snapper VeraCruz looks awesome but I have yet to dine on it. There is a large selection of sides to choose from. Besides the regular selection of beverages they also serve beer, wine, and margaritas as well. There is plenty of seating available. As for Cajun/Creole?? Look, you are in Texas (Garland) you are not in Louisiana, do not expect the gulf coast ..They do there best. Overall this is a pretty good seafood restaurant. The fried oyster actually come out pretty good, you make your own cocktail sauce with horseradish, ketchup, and lemon. This place is hit or miss. Most of the time, the fish is really great. However, I have been once or twice when the fillets have been really small and not so great. I've only had the fried catfish, so I can't really comment on any of the other dishes. I also with they weren't so stingy with the hush puppies...they're super tiny and they only give you two. I ordered the boiled shrimp. They lightly seasoned the water it cooked in with Old Bay type seasoning, and instead dumped it on the top after they came out. You can do that with regular seasoned salt, but theirs had red pepper in it that is hot not in a good way bc too potent on top. So, I had to rinse some of excess off. It took nearly 25 minutes to get our order- Trout Almondine grilled and grilled Salmon- grilled veggies came with it and were very good. My beer battered onion rings were old and no longer warm- You couldn't bite thru a ring so you had to cut them with your knife. I've been to flying fish several times. I've been to the one in ft. worth and the one in the firewheel shopping area (I haven't been to the one in Dallas yet) and I will say that they have yet to disappoint me. Catfish is OK, no complaints. The service is rude. They give you problems when you try to use the Wylie Highschool discount. We bought a gift card, all they gave us was a receipt, no card. I had no idea they had an actual card, they handed me the gift card receipt in an evelope like that was it. We go to use it months later with my parents, who we gave the gift card.
