We had a great experience at Pappadeaux! The food was amazing and absolutely worth the visit. I ate so fast I didn't even get a chance to take pictures that's how good it was. We had the Chilean sea bass, shrimp gumbo, crispy salmon jumbo crab, and a passion fruit lemon drop and everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The wait wasn't too long and the service was excellent. We did have a small hiccup with one of our dishes but it was handled quickly and professionally. The staff fixed the issue right away and even offered a complimentary appetizer while we waited for the new meal which we really appreciated. Why is this place so good?? I've been going here 20+ years, and the quality is just the same as when I was younger. My go-to's are: the Crispy Atlantic Salmon (there is no cajun salmon dish better than this one), Oysters on the half shell, Caesar salad or the Seafood Cobb Salad, Dirty rice ... and when they have it - Crab fingers. According to the waiter, scratch made kitchen and they are their own seafood providers so the expectation was high. We got oysters and the crab and spinach dip. And each tried different entrees. In my opinion all great portion sizes I was able to get a lunch portion for dinner and my ginger salmon was cooked beautifully and super fresh. For my drink I was able to substitute liquor depending on my preference so that was a plus. The Boudin sausage was removed from the menu The Fried Alligator was replaced with some nasty alligator concoction including pickles, peanuts and Tabasco. Nobody seems to be ordering it. I wonder why? Lol The good news is that they added a grilled octopus app that is excellent. Bartenders consistently lazy af if they are not busy. They chat w each other and play on their phones w backs to customers. After a couple next to me left, their dishes/glasses remained uncleared for 30 minutes I was there. Still there when I left. ‍ The food, aside from new alligator app above is consistently excellent. And the complementary bread/butter is tasty (even though none of us probably need it). In the old days we used to ask for one order of fried shrimp without spice for our daughter, but that would not be needed anymore. No spice at all. Such a shame because I thought they had the best fried shrimp in the city before. The highlight of our lunch was our service by Quentin. He was fantastic. In addition to the fried shrimp, we had oyster and shrimp, gumbo, and the fried shrimp po boy. The gumbo was pretty good but not great. Wanted a fried oyster po-boy but they don't serve that at lunch apparently. The shrimp on both orders was perfectly cooked, but just didn't have any spice.
