    Caddo Plate

I ordered the Coddle Plate ($18.95), which is described as tilapia and jumbo shrimp sautéed with house seasonings, topped with a creamy cheese sauce mixed with pico de gallo, served with basil white rice. What I received was completely inedible. The tilapia was burnt and tasted almost rotten, not just overcooked but scorched to the point where the flavor was overpowering and unpleasant. The shrimp were also burnt to a crisp. The tails were visibly blackened, not charred for flavor, but burned. I managed maybe three bites before having to stop. No amount of cheese could cover how bad the fish tasted, and it honestly felt like the cheese was being used to mask a serious cooking issue. This was a complete waste of nearly $20. I also ordered the Grits & Gumbo, described as deep-fried grits with a crunchy exterior topped with house seafood gumbo. The grits were hard and bland, not flavorful. The gumbo itself was disappointing: the roux was thin and bitter, lacking depth or seasoning. The only decent part of the dish was the shrimp, but that alone couldn't save it. I finished the gumbo, so I'm not expecting a refund there, but the coddle plate absolutely should be refunded. It was genuinely inedible. Unfortunately, based on this experience, Flying Fish will not be getting any more of my business. Whoever is running the kitchen does not understand execution, seasoning, or basic seafood preparation. Strongly do not recommend.

Looks like April 2017 was my last trip in here. Two stars then yikes! Fortunately tonights experience was much better. However, this location in my opinion is the weak link among all the Dallas Ft Worth locations. My fried catfish and shrimp combo accompanied by fries and 2 hush puppies did the trick. The decor as all the others is nuvo bait shack which I love. All in all, if you're hunting " seafood" in this area, their extensive menu will surely satisfy One of your cravings.

This place is awesome and right inside Firewheel Garland! My husband and I were craving seafood/Cajun in our area and came across this place and we were SO glad to have found it! The restaurant is open and spacious and they have such unique wall decor and photos of people from all over. The food seasoning was great and the fried items were perfection! Love their sauces and everything tasted great. It's rare to find places like this in Dallas with game meats for us and we enjoyed our experience and trying something new! Service was helpful and quick and staff was very friendly. Would recommend!

We were looking for a restaurant that wouldn't be an hour drive or that would cost an arm. This place was perfect. Food was perfectly seasoned and not salty. We ordered at the counter and they gave me a buzzer for pickup whenever the food is ready. Drink and sauce station to the right. Seat yourself kind of environment. Walls were decorated with pictures and fish. Huge parking lot in the front to choose from.

I think I need to go back and try in person va Uber eats. Red snapper and salmon were not great. Food was extremely cold and soggy.

A seafood favorite. Flying Fish has an atmosphere like it's next door to a fish camp on the lake. Fried or grilled, the catfish is delicious. Shrimp, oysters, crawfish, and sides are prepared well. The cole slaw has a new recipe you must try. It's chopped and diced fine to a perfect consistency. Nice selection of beer, wine, and margaritas. I recommend joining the free Grub Club online. Every month you get a BOGO coupon. If there are two of you that join then double your pleasure. See you there !

Chicken-fried brisket is the star of the show here, and it's every bit as legendary as the hype…read moresuggests. I went specifically for their signature dish (the one they proudly call themselves the "Home of the Chicken Fried Brisket"), and it delivered exactly what everyone raves about. They take a thick, oak-smoked brisket slice--already juicy, tender, and loaded with smoky flavor and perfect bark--then coat it in a craft-beer batter and fry it up. The crust comes out shatter-crisp and golden, never greasy or soggy, while the brisket inside stays beefy and moist. That peppery burnt-end gravy poured over the top is rich, savory, and ties everything together beautifully with a scoop of skin-on mashed potatoes on the side. It's pure Texas comfort food genius--smoky BBQ meets Southern fried steak in the best possible way. I'd order it again in a heartbeat (it's a Tuesday special or weekend brunch treat, so plan accordingly). The rest of the BBQ holds up just as strong. Their regular brisket (flat and point) is consistently juicy, tender, and smoky with that killer bark everyone mentions. Sides and other meats are solid too--no weak links. The house beers are fantastic and pair perfectly with the rich, smoky food (the rustic, woodsy vibe in the historic downtown Garland spot makes it even better for lingering over a pint). Service is friendly and the whole place just feels welcoming. If you're in Garland or nearby and love bold Texas BBQ with a creative twist, Intrinsic is a must. The chicken-fried brisket alone is worth the trip--don't sleep on it! Highly recommend for anyone who wants great smoked meats, great beer, and something uniquely delicious

We ordered a half pound of fatty brisket and a side of Mac and cheese. The brisket was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It had a nice smoke but it was pretty mild for my taste. I liked the bbq sauce in the packets. I took some home for some bbq beans. The Mac and cheese was pretty good. It was thick and well seasoned. Really good for a cafeteria style serving. I like this place. I could see it in my rotation for bbq locally.

I ordered my usual, the chicken and waffles. It was good, but it didn't really stand out compared to other places I've had it. I usually like when chicken and waffles comes with fresh fruit, and I also prefer either a fried chicken breast or chicken wings rather than the chicken that was served. The meal was satisfying, just not particularly memorable. Overall, it was a decent experience and there wasn't anything wrong with the food or service. Their menu has several interesting items, so I'd be willing to come back and give them another try, especially for dinner.
